Re: Hotel Kuroma (IC CLOSED)

The Marshite Embassy was rather sprawling, the relations between the two countries being somewhat one sided and the Marshites desiring to build a chapel inside of the embassy itself. Beyond that, it was unusual in such that the Marshites, being an armed people, had brought some firepower with them. As the situation in the country had detoriated over the past few years, the amount of firepower at the disposal of security- thirty-two strong- increased. Besides the AVIRS for the security, two sniper rifles of Marshite design(Durable, high power, high accuracy, low scope) and one Javelin(only two missiles) were brought over. The belief was that if something happened that required a heavy fight, support would be a long ways off. As such, they were ready for a short but heavy fight, though they lacked the ammunition for a sustained exchange. They would have to rely on Marshite training and skill if something happened, and some of that trickled down to the staff: Most had served their time in the army and were the products of a Marshite upbringing. As such, the dozen AVIR PDRs in use by the staff were not in ill hands. A few BGR-15s were in use, one on each side of the embassy.

When the government was toppled, two Littoral Combat Ships were dispatched from a somewhat nearby naval base to evacuate the Marshites. As the day started, they were still far off.

But that was somewhat inconsequential, as the Marshites were surrounded by militia. Whether it be because of the accumulated Marshite Believers or the few Sahans who had ran inside, the militia had deemed the Embassy a target. The Marshite Marines took their positions at pre-desingated spots, small holes cut into the side of the building at angles in case they were needed for defense. The snipers took to the roofs, where they trained their sights on targets of great value. No gunfire was exchanged yet.
Eight Marines guarded the front, eight in the back, four on the sides as they were narrow enough. Four snipers took to the roof, and the other four attempted to open the locked steel box with the Javelin in it. Unluckily for them, the aide with the key had not survived a car crash, and the key was missing.

The situation was tense, and as more technicals and even a few APCs rumbled closer, the Marshites gritted themselves for action.

The man next to the medic heard this question and responded automatically. "You're at the hotel Oasis. You got lucky that you didn't die from the crash, like that other guys in your car."

Near the Coruscanti Embassy
The silenced rounds found almost all of their marks. One man was hit in the gut and was able to crawl to the door. “They are in here!” he cried out just as another round turned his head into red mist. One of the T-34/85’s swiveled its turret and after a few seconds, fired a round of HE (high-explosive) into the building.

Kuroman Military Command
“We must desist this attack on the embassy.” General Takar, head of the army forces in Masuru, shook his head. “Perhps it is for the best. The weeds that are sheltered in the embassy will trouble Kuroma no more.” With that, the Colonel went back in his jeep and sped off to the embassy, not knowing of the battle that was now raging.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Telviran Broadcasting Conglomerate Newscast: “The situation in Kuroma continues to deteriorate, as Indowa militia and the Kuroman National Army, or KNA, continue in their genocide against the Sahen. It is now estimated that over half the Sahen in Kuroma have been killed, a total of 1/6 of the country’s total population. Parliament remains deadlocked over a course of action, leaving the Kuroman Assistance Force, or KUAFOR, to fend for itself against increasingly fierce militia attacks.”

Telviran Military Command (“Whitehall”)
Colonel Julian Thompson’s Office

Colonel Thompson was not happy. “So you’re telling me there is no plan whatsoever for reinforcing KUAFOR?” Across from his desk, his subordinate, Captain John Summers, fidgeted with his hands. “Ummm…basically, no sir, there is not.” “Why?!” shouted the colonel. Visiblt shaken, the captain composed his thoughts, then spoke up. “PM’s orders, colonel. Doesn’t want us drawing up plans for something that might not happen.” “GODDAMMIT!!” Only the barest glimmer of restraint kept the colonel from hurling something through the nearby window. After a few seconds of silent fuming, he leaned in. “OK, Summers, listen up. What I’m about to say does. not. leave. this. room. Clear?” “Uh, yessir, clear.” “Good. Now, I’m going to put you in charge of a planning staff, the best boys I’ve got. All very hush-hush. You will draw up a plan for reinforcing and possibly evacuating KUAFOR and show it to me when you’re done.” “But sir—“ “No buts,” stated the colonel, cutting Summers off. “I’ve got a feeling that this whole situation is about to go to hell, and I want a plan for when it does. No matter what those REMFs in Parliament say.”

Outside the Marshite Embassy
The force surrounding the embassy had grown to eight technicals, armed with .50cal machine guns, and a single M113 APC, clearly being used by whoever was commanding the militia. “Attention Marshite embassy!” boomed a loudspeak, “All personnel are to come out of the building with their hands up! This is to check for possible traitors to the regime that may be hiding in your embassy! Comply now or we will enter and search the embassy ourselves!”

The Marshites would never broach a deal.

The Marine manning the BRG-15 had the M113 in sights. He knew the power of the gun; it could pierce that armor. On the other side, the other BRG-15 had two technicals somewhat close together. Each sniper had the gunner of a technical in his sight, and the two SDMs inside of the Embassy moved and found two more. Six of the eight technicals and the APC in sight immediately, almost ensured to be destroyed. Six of the eight confirmations that Captain Ravine needed as he kept on trying to open the box with the Javelin. Then a seventh, as two Marines focused on one Technical, and then the eighth as the situation happened once more.

They opened up, heavy machine guns, snipers, SDMs, and rifleman all.

Ambassador Haughey was not filled with much confidence at this point; having a Kuroman tank fire at a nearby building did not give his charges very much reassurance that they’ll all escape with their lives, to say the very least. However, there was little the Ambassador could do himself at this point other than smoke cigarettes while waiting for the colonel to return. Haughey hoped that this firefight won’t convince the colonel to have everyone in the embassy shot on the spot…

Albudanian News Network by Radio

"We're here in Egaigus, where the congress is about to announce their course of action after a group of tanks took out 55 Albundanian forces in Kuroma. Oh wait here they come!" *applause* "We, the senate, have decided to send in the 902nd Rapid Response division into Kuroma with the intent of protecting several points where the Sahen are holed up and protect them from the aggressive militiamen. This group consists of 300 troops who have been training for the last 7 months. I will not take any questions at the moment."

Oasis

A line of helicopters were visible on the horizon as they carried the 902nd in. Gregorvich had recently been promoted all the way to Major and would now have command over 310 soldiers. It was not what he had asked for though, as he had wanted at least 10 tanks to rock 'n' roll with, but he was better off than Telvira at least.

Outside the Marshite Embassy
The hail of bullets caught the cocky militiamen unawares. The M113 was the first to go, bursting into flames as bullets ignited it's gas tank, then the technicals went up in flames, along with most of the militiamen. The few who survived took off at a run down the street, firing a few rounds at the embassy as they fled. The commander of the militia shouted "We'll be back!" at the top of his lungs before commandeering a civilian car and driving off.

Outside the Coruscanti Embassy
The colonel arrived to find his troops in a panic and a nearby building crumbling under a direct hit by an 85mm HE round. "Forget about the embassy! All forces concentrate on the attackers!" Then he stormed up to the ambassador. "I don't what you did, but you're in the clear. I'll remember you though." Then he turned and began ordering his troops to surround the block and search all the remaining buildings. The T-34/85s continued to maintain their vigilance as the M113s began to patrol the block with accompanying infantry, waiting to catch any survivors trying to flee the scene.

Near the Oasis
The patrol of Telviran soldiers riding in the Messenger (from Mercs 2) was caught unawares. First the sniper took out the driver and gunner manning a .50cal machine gun. Then militia surrounded the Messenger and threw in tear-gas grenades. The three surviving Telvirans were dragged out, beaten unconcious, bound, and dragged off by the militia. It would be another 10 minutes before anyone took notice of their absence.

AS the miltiamen fled, the Marshites gave a holler. The SDMs gunned down a few more that fled, but the battle was over.

Ravine was pleased, but he knew the militia would not take this lying down. They would most certainly be back. He ordered claymores, two of them, to be placed outside. He then placed two more inside of the embassy itself.
Two men continued trying to open the infernal metal box, no success.

OOC: The militia and the government just want to start all kinds of wars don't they? Raiding embassies and such.

Captain Csaba Benedek felt the ground shake beneath him as he was tossed to the ground from explosive force. His men, all protected by the secretary's desk more than by distance, were all flung to the ground as well: the worst injuries being bloody noses (such as Csaba's own) and a few sore limbs from the force. Smoke and dust was still settling as Csaba picked up his sunglasses from beside him and look at them to see the tiniest of cracks in the left lense near where the corner of his eye would be. Then, as shell-shock faded away, he could hear voices that sounded distant but getting closer...no - a single voice right by him. It was the radio man speaking frantically, yet quietly, in to the radio on CAFOR tapped signals...not something easy to do when one had a few hours to find one pre-mission.

"Hello, is anybody out there? This is Adojan Danko of Ursava. I was with some former soldiers but a rebel tank just shot in the room. Both of them are dead and my leg is broken, I think. Does anybody have any air support or better, an f'in army to send? I'm in front of the Coruscanti embassy - I think - and there's a ton of tanks..." Then to top of the lie, with a bout of fake but rather realistic crying "...please, god help me..." Then the radioman promptly switched the system to another frequency to leave CAFOR operators with nothing but static.

Then the man got up and moved, leaving the apartment building and staying well away from the opening where there had once been a wall. Sticking to the same system of alleys, the moved in to what appeared to be a two-story storage facility of some kind with the lights fof. The one woman of the squad waited until there were infantry near the entrance and then called out in a clearly feminine voice, another good actor, loud enough for them to hear.

"Oh god! Somebody please help! My leg, it's broken!" Then she faked a break-down of tears that slowly went silent in to soundless heaves.

Csaba's next donation back home would be something to the acting arts. Not bothering to look if anybody was coming they dissapeared, leaving the door slightly ajar and hiding in some of the ply-wood wall rooms and behind the crates to creat a semi-circle at the far-end of the room from the stairwell as they had retreated to the second story. Nobody even touched a flashlight of any kind.

Haughey couldn’t help but grin as he saw the colonel leave to deal with his latest crisis. Looks like even after suffering through a decade-long civil war, Coruscant’s Foreign Service still retained its ability to scare other nations from daring to interfere with the Dominion’s affairs. The Ambassador directed his staff to relay the news to the refugees that the Kuroman government will allow them to stay at the embassy unharmed while he filed his usual report to his superiors in the Foreign Service. Now if only those fools whom the Kuroman army were fighting against realized that there is no threat to the Coruscanti embassy anymore, Haughey thought while shaking his head… for the time being, that is.

Blanco's calls to the government had gotten him nothing but promises. He had a force of some 80 militia, but only 12 RPGs and 8 technicals. On top of that, the damn government was still outside of that foriegn embassy, which was a giant Sahen hidey-hole. "Send a message to our scouts near the Coruscanti embassy. They are to inform me the minute the government troops are gone. Then we shall break open the embassy and kill every Sahen in that place." While he waited, Blanco decided to try one last time to get some decent support. Jeor's assholes had gotten an APC somehow, and if he was going to take on an embassy, he was going to need some better firepower than machine guns and RPGs.

OOC-yes, Ursava, yes they do... lol

IC-
Near the Coruscanti Embassy
The soldiers nearby weren't total fools. They decided to test the waters first. Preliminary scouts had reported that there wasn't anybody in the alley, so the soldiers took the prudent route. One went into the waiting M113, pulled out an RPG, and loosed a rocket into the open door.

Off the Coast of Kuroma
Telviran Helicopter Carrier Spirit of Light

The deck of the Spirit of Light was crawling with activity. After a four-day voyage back from evacuating miners in the Tolvanic African Colonies, the Mayaia-class helicopter carrier was preparing to evacuate the Telviran nationals from the Oasis Hotel. With a roar of rotor blades, the first wave of Kestrel medium transports (the AN Liberaotr transport from Mercs 2) lifted off and began to head towards the Oasis Hotel.

Dispatch to International Media Outlets

This is Ambassador Haughey, and I have good news to report. The Kuroman government has allowed the Sahen seeking asylum at the Coruscanti embassy to remain there unharmed. However, the entire country remains a warzone, and our Dominion has no way to extract the Sahen under our protection, as well as our staff, out of the capital city. We plead for any country or international organization to provide the means to get us all to safety.

The rumble vibrated up through the floor and in to Captain Csaba Benedek's stomach as he stared down the iron-sights of his silenced Kalashnikov. He was waiting for the sound of somebody getting close from up the steps in to the storage facility and silently wiped at the blood running down, out of his nose with the back of his exposed arm to leave a streak of light red color that remained all but invisible with the rest of him. Csaba stayed prone and out of the doorway while he waited.

Jakran Presidential Palace
President Eden had recieved notice from the 2nd in command of the KUAFOR about the recent hotel attacks and he was quite concerned. He had sent a notice to KUAFOR HQ that Mitchell would teleconference with him and the Jakran Defense Minister as soon as Mitchell returned to the base. In the meantime Eden had an additional ASMC Company to ready for deployment to Kuroma along with an addtional Skyhwak and Osprey support squadron (12 hawks, 12 Ospreys). In addtion Eden had the Director of Jakran Intelligence (James Shepard) form preliminary plans to create and supply a rebel militia in Kuroma to assist KUAFOR, if need be.

Hotel Oasis, Masuru

Master Sergant Eremy had spent ten minutes combing through the hotel for Corporal Stone, as per Mitchell's orders. Finally after another 5 minutes of searching, he saw Stone smoking a cigarette. Eremy called out "Corporal, come over here. Colonel wants to speak with you."

Mitchell answered several rather bland questions then stepped down as a CAFOR soldier ran up to him. "Yes Soldier?" Mitchell inquired, "Convoy here to escort you back sir" the soldier, a lance corporal replied. "Also we got a distress signal on our unencrypted channel". "Well who was it and what was it about?" Mitchell responded. "Some group of ex-soldiers outside the Coruscantian Embassy, probably mercs. They requested air support and reported alot of tanks around the embassy" The LC replied. Mitchell thought about it for a moment "Call the embassy and see what's up. In the meantime send two flights of SkyHawks with AT missles to the area to check it out" Mitchell said, still thinking over the situation. "Yes sir" the LC marched out of the lobby to the waiting Warthog Convoy, above Mitchell could hear the distinctive yet soft engine noise of SkyHawksfrom the convoy's aerial escorts. Mitchell began to walk out when he noticed Eremy and Stone talking, "Come on boys, mount up" he yelled as he walked through the front doors into the cool night* air.

OOC-Ursava, you can consider the skyhawks on the way. night* is like just after sunset

Over at the Coruscanti Embassy, Ambassador Haughey only received more bad news; the embassy only had about 72-96 hours worth of emergency supplies left. Now that Kuroman troops were distracted with the firefight next door, about a dozen more Sahen managed to sneak past the army and make it inside the embassy. Without some sort of outside assistance soon, the people held up in the compound wouldn’t last much longer.

“Sir,” shouted one of the Ambassador’s aids as she came running up to him, “we’ve got a call for you from CAFOR. They want to know what’s going over here and why there is fighting in this area.” Secretly thankful that someone with guns other than the Kuromans finally remembered their existence, Haughey went into his office and told the caller on the other end of the phone about the plight the embassy was going through, as well as what little he knew about the nearby firefight the Kuroman troops were currently engaged in.

The Lance Corporal ran up to Mitcehll as he was climbing into the Warthog (APC vairant). He handed over a notepad containing the basis of the Coruscanti ambassador's message, Mitchell was shocked and concerned. He called into the CAFOR airbase and sent two more SkyHawk flights to the Coruscanti Embassy, his orders for them were to try and scare off the tanks (blind crews with searchlights, loudspeaker warnings, etc) and only fire if they were fired upon. As Eremy and Stone both climbed in, Mitchell made a second phone call to the ambassador himself to assure him CAFOR was doing what it could.

OOC-Ursava tell me when you want the Skyhawks to arrive and then i'll RP their actions, not that it matters anymore but they are basically flying cans of whoop@ss (I have a picture of one earlier on this thread).

By some miracle, Fatima had not only survived the car crash, but had also escaped relatively unscathed. Her clothes were torn and she had an ugly, but manageable, cut on her arm, but other than that she was okay. After getting her cut treated at the field hospital, Fatima left and made her way towards the Oasis. She entered the lobby to find it packed full of people seeking refuge. There families of Sahen all around the lobby, along with huddles of foreigners no doubt seeking a way out of the country.

Outside Fatima could hear explosions and gun fire. She had noticed several soldiers in the field hospital that were being treated for some nasty looking wounds. She still couldn’t believe what was going on. How did she end up in this situation? So much for study abroad. Well shit, she thought to herself, might as well make myself useful.

She walked around the lobby looking to find someone who had some authority. She saw a couple of soldiers come in and out of the hotel but they looked just as confused as she did. Finally she came across the manager, George Samayia, and walked up to him. “Excuse me sir,” she said trying to sound as polite as possible and extending her hand, “allow me to introduce myself, I am Fatima. Is there anything I can do to help around here?"
