Hello there. Despite the size of this nation, and the 22...23 posts behind it, the password to this nation was given to me by a friend who no longer plays the game. I am a newcomer to the role playing aspect of this game, and from I have seen so far it truly is something that I wouldn't mind getting into. I understand the basic concept behind role playing of course, it is just the writing that could be improved.

Hey everyone that wants help others with their writing.

I feel that no matter what I do my OP's don't give the person replying enough to write about and I hate one liners, here's a prime example of an OP where I feel that I may have not provided enough but I've got no idea on what else to add.

Seems like there's both too little and too much going on, if that makes sense. There are two very big possible plot points, and at least to the outside viewer, there's not really a connection between the two. Is it primarily about the reactors? Is it about the Ayatollah? What should we be focusing on? There's not an obvious intention of what you're doing.

Secondly, and most good readers will notice this, is there's no actual invitation to do anything. This is obviously a private meeting between the heads of your government, I highly doubt that using nuclear reactors as a deterrent would be something you want to broadcast to the world, so frankly, ICly we don't even KNOW any of this. As an example, add an open communique (that's encrypted or something so it doesn't look like everyone got the same one even though they did) that asks nations to sell you a nuclear reactor, so there's an obvious invitation into the thread.

Thank you for the help. I always try to be one step ahead of myself with my roleplays which can be confusing at times but makes sense when you take a step back and look. The Ayatollah is and has been an a well known critic of the past regime, and current regime and he's going to be lingering and mentioned throughout this roleplay because he's going to be the basis for my next roleplay.

Greetings,

Recently, I've found myself at a bit of a stall. I'm doing a wedding RP (the first of such, in fact) and my conversation with the other player I've encountered is gradually degrading to 'So, nice weather'.

Or, at least, to me. I've been told I criticise myself too strongly, so perhaps I'm wrong. I'll let you mates decide.
Not a fan of just leaving the link to hang about.

Yes, I know. Format is different from most other players. Yes, I do blocktext and align=justify it. I feel it looks neater on quantum scales. Either way, the format is not entirely what I was much request critique on.

Just so we know, I'll post my own critiques of my posts here:

Post one

I do like the post, and I feel I got across everything I wanted to. However, I feel as if I threw too many words in. Too much description, and sidetracked the story. Maybe that's just me trying to feel better at my writing abilities ( :p ) but-...
Yeah.

Anyway, I feel the post was fine.

Post two

Heh.
No.

The first part I felt was too clunky, and I seriously deleted it multiple times (4) and rewrote it without advancing from the same scenario. I felt rather stuck and just whipped up those few words so I could move on.

The second part was slightly better - in my opinion - but only because I liked Logan's 'Sherlock' impersonation. And then felt absurd as I got the greeting wrong.
Argh!

Post three

An improvement over the last one, I believe. But there's lots to be done.

Post four

Well, I felt it was static, really. I did nothing except attempt to counteract the other participant's comment on my Royal Knights not being as zealously patriotic as his. And try to move forward a seating arrangement for them.

You mates can also criticise this.

In any case, I'd like all of your opinions. Constructive criticism is best criticism.
Appreciated, mates!

Out-of-Character: In general, people do not write things like this (a constitution [or equivalent], pieces of legislation, etc.) for other players. It's not "forbidden" or "against the rules", or something similar, it's just a matter of common sense. After all: who knows what sort of freedoms, powers (inherent and implied), etc. that the people of each state and their government would want or would have vied for, spare the player behind that state themselves? Like I said: it's a matter of common sense.

My best advice is to research constitutions, legislation, and various historical documents (such as the Magna Carta and the U.S. Constitution or Articles of Confederation) to get a general idea of their purpose and general structure. Also, from your flag, it appears your nation is likely fascist in nature; you might want to do research on the National Socialist Program of 1918, the Manifesto of the Italian Fasci of Combat, and perhaps even the Organic Law of 1942 (Francoist Spain) for some real-world analogues of what you might be looking for (in relative comparison to your nation's political ideology). Just as well, by further contrast, looking-up and researching the various constitutions (as there were several revisions and re-writes) of the Soviet Union might be a good idea.

At the end of the day, it's best you do the research, the study, and write the constitution for your nation (assuming it is statutory) yourself, and not try and convince someone else to do it on your behalf. You know the most about the kind of nation, history, and culture you are trying to create; they do not. For a bit extra work, your entity will be more fleshed-out, complete, and will allow you to build into the basis of your national government a degree of conflict - even loopholes - that can be exploited for conflict in roleplaying threads and plot.

Azura, I have a treat for you. It was that thread I was trying to create that we discussed a month ago on IRC. I cannot promise that it will grow into me writing a couple hundred thousand words of material that turns out like The Spirited Maiden, but I think you will be pleased with it for what it is.

Greetings.

Okay, so, I've written a second post (not on the same thread) of decent size and I wanted to ask my fellow chaps here on NS what they thought of my quality. I've been rather reserved with my skill lately, so I hope this is beyond what limit I may have had at an earlier date.

So, without further ado, let's begin; the Pillars of Spring.

I want to note that, whilst my ship's name is the same as the title, I derived the title of the story whilst working with the OP author from a warship in HALO, the Pillar of Autumn. I later decided to change the ship's name the the Pillar of Spring because I found it rather fitting to the storyline - the planet's prominent season is Spring.

I know someone is going to make a comment of the fact that the Pelican arrived at Sirquan literally unscathed, but this was agreed upon with the writer in question.

Constructive criticism is appreciated. Thanks.

I have trouble coming up with good words or ways to start a RP, stuff like that, however I notice people always go to an easier route and don't put thought into their post, leaving more to be desired.
"For too many years, humanity was on the backfoot. Reacting to threats, rather than preventing them. Rest of the galaxy was bigger than us. Stronger than us. We were mice, hiding in the shadows, hoping the giants would not see us. No more. Humanity is no longer on the defense. We are the giants now."
