And also, can someone give me a basic layout of who is democratic/ capitalist, and who is anarchic/ communist here. I need that to know who to watch out for. Also, who is running the UN in this? Just wondering if I'm going to play, if you guys are ok with that. Are you?

Our divisions aren't as simple as that. Most of the countries are not democratic RP-wise, so the division isn't exactly like the Cold War in RL. There is a layout on the front page of the recruitment thread though. Also, at the moment we don't have any sort of UN, but something along those lines might be created at the upcoming peace conference.

As for open lands, there is still a lot of room in South America.

Germany is available, but you wouldn't have the eastern part of it or Berlin.

Bord doesn't own eastern Germany, it's Skakova.

We're trying to avoid colonies right now. Once the players have been finalized, I think all colonies are getting taken off of the map, even though there is still a system of client states.
If you'd like you can have land in South America since that would give you more land and less dangerous neighbors.
