March 11, 2012: Bergimachian forces begin airstrikes into rebelling regions

(Straubing) Today Bergimachian FT-7's began air raids into the rebelling eastern regions of the country, with fighting heating up against Pan Slavic separatists in the region of Ost-Wenden. Today leader Przemek Bruno of the Ost-Wenden liberation front (OWLF) promised a sacred war against the Bergimachian government, after claims the government was not holding up its end of the bargain after the 1999 peace deal. General Secretary Ottokar Hugo of the Communist Party of Berginmachian ordered the Chinese built FT-7s to begin air strikes in the early hours of the morning. Casualties are unknown, but it is suspected two hundred are dead and four hundred wounded. Owing to the swift nature of the attacks, no international condemnation has been issued of yet, but the General Secretary has promised that the Slavic inhabitants of the region shall not see independence, and any negotiations would have to be done on terms favorable to the German population.

The central committee of the Communist Party, and I myself the general secretary express our immense gratitude at this offer of protection from the capitalists and fascists, and the advancement of the internationalist spirit in which this is done. We believe too many Socialist nations have strayed from the correct path in this day and age. That being said, while we greatly appreciate the offer, we feel foreign assistance is not required as of yet, but our government will lodge a request with your government should we require assistance.

That being said, we do wish to inquire of the possibility of technical assistance from your nation in exploiting our shale oil reserves. Our current state of technological development has not permitted the exploitation of this resource, and as such our nation suffers regular fuel shortages. We would also wish to inquire on the possibility of purchasing more advanced arms from Comorostan, as the majority of our current equipment is outdated Chinese equipment from the 1960s and 1970s, from when the Chinese were truly comrades, and not the capitalist revisionists of today.

The Democratic People's Republic would be more than willing and able to provide you with technical direction. While a large portion of Comorostani power is now provided by nuclear reactors, our state still maintains several facilities for the extraction and refining of shale oil for export to fellow Communist states and civilian needs. The Bureau of Energy will comb through its personnel to select those experts best able to assist you.

As for the matter of weapons, we would also be more than willing and able to provide more modernized weaponry. Our military is ranked as being one of the most formidable in the region and our impressive manufacturing capabilities have produced sufficient excess to supply fellow Communist states such as yourself.

We shall send a small selection of military advisers and technicians will accompany the men from the Bureau of Energy, to appraise the state of your armed forces and conference with your own officials. They will spearhead the modernization program.

The Fascist State of Greater Croatia would like to register it's strong condemnation and disapproval of such wanton and flagrant actions undertaken by Gross-Bergimach against the peaceful Slavic inhabitants of the nation. Further noting that it was the government's failure to uphold the 1999 peace deal with the OWLF, the Fascist State of Greater Croatia has no alternative but to find Gross-Bergimach guilty of this crime against humanity. We demand therefore that you cease and desist in your militaristic actions and re-open negotiations with the OWLF or suffer the consequences.

While I myself can understand why your nation may hold this view in regards to Ost-Wenden, especially considering Croat's are a Slavic people as well, we do ordain that your nation shall have no direct influence on our internal affairs. It is not the business of a Fascist nation on the other side of the planet to dictate the struggles within our nation, building socialism, thousands of kilometers away. Furthermore we do not shy away from your military threats, besides the fact our military is undergoing modernization, and is at present rather large, we must warn you we have powerful allies that can be courted, and we can assure that even an air only operation, much less a full scale war shall not be to your advantage.

Furthermore, we wish to elaborate that we have only broken the 1999 peace deal because the OWLF had shown complete disdain for the German people of this nation, as well as the ideals of socialism in general, and have often shown contempt for the law and order in this land. For instance, the provision stating that the rebels shall lay down their arms has not been met, and as the fighting was initiated by the OWLF, we felt the need to respond using appropriate measures, including but not limited to airstrikes. We advise that you not be so brass in future dealings with our nation.

Allow me to first once again reiterate my stand in which we of Greater Croatia are opposed to any hostile actions that may be taken aginst our fellow Slavic brothers. While I can understand your reasons for such a move, I am still inclined to condemn this rash and hostile action which shall worsen the current situation as of now in Ost-Wenden. Since I believe that armed conflict is detrimental to the interests of all parties involved, allow me to propose a solution:

1. The region of Ost-Wenden be granted partial autonomy under the nation of Gross-Bergimach as part of a federation.

2. The Ost-Wenden Liberation Front shall pledge henceforth and forthwith to refrain from taking up arms against the Bergimachian security forces. The transition and disarmament shall be overseen by Croatian Peacekeepers.

I believe that the outlines of my proposal shall satisfy the interests of all parties involved. You, Mr. General-Secretary, will get to keep your region albeit under loose control and the Ost-Wendens shall have their partial independence. I hope this offer will be seriously considered. I write to you informally right now, and on the run, as I have little time. I will consider this proposed peace offer, and perhaps a whole tranche of economic and political reforms to our nation. Right now I am in Bugislavia, and I have been intrigued by this success of Socialism. Your offer shall be considered and talked about when I have enough time to return from and reflect on my trip to Bugislavia in a few weeks time. Realize I speak informally to you, and it is better this note is not disclosed to anyone inside of Gross Bergimach, this letter has been passed to you by close out of nation contacts. I wish to stress your peace offer is being considered.

[Comorostan]

Flying in a V-formation, the trio of Comorostani transport craft soared through the skies, entering Bergmachian airspace with ease. With a series of quick and efficient touchdowns, the three aircraft were soon open, a small force of men and women in Comorostani military uniforms unloading large crates using forklifts and motorized pallets.

Once opened, the crates would disgorge dozens of brand-new rifles, Comorostani copies of the excellent Yaroslavian AN-125 assault rifle, with plenty of ammunition to go along with them. Others disgorged large, bulky containers, each holding an advanced anti-tank missile system. Reloads were provided.

In Comorostan, more flights were being prepared, with more weapons. A dozen massive freighters were being loaded at the nation's ports, filled the brim with new weapons for the communist state. MiG-29 fighters were brought out of storage and prepared for flight--it would be more expedient to simply fly them over and have the pilots assist in training.

More trainers would be arriving, to demonstrate how to best use the new weapons the Bergmachians were getting, as well as teaching them how this technology should affect their tactics.
