Orbit of Kinovar I, Kinovar system
Kinovar was a red dwarf near the core systems of the Futura Sobornost. It was a fairly young star, as stellar flare that made the dim star shined towards the nearby worlds brighter, causing havoc in the process. However, among these worlds, the innermost world, named Kinovar I after its mother star, was deemed to be capable to support humanoid life, and indeed, it had. Between the everlasting cyclone facing the star, and the permanent tundra facing away from the star, river deltas and swamplands created a potentially habitable ring for its inhabitants. Shielded from the UV lights by its heavy armour salvaged from the colony ship, they managed to survive in this alien world without outside help.
After receiving reports of a renegade colony on Kinovar I, built by another human faction and lost during the war, the Sobornost decided to claim the new world as one of its increasing numbers of territories. At the libration point behind Kinovar I, shielded by the planet from the glares of the star, the lights from the stars started to distort with surrounding space, as if a black hole was coming into form at the location. The distortion gradually increases, ultimately creating a black orb at the centre.
However, the black hole suddenly retreated back into itself, revealing the cluster of grey metals that was its nature. As the distortion completely melted into oblivion, the spacecraft sent from the Sobornost to claim this world was revealed, slowly floating above the white tundra of Kinovar I.
Rather than spacecraft, it resembled more like a large space station, as it was composed of two rings of grey cubes, interconnected with tubular tunnels and converged at the central rod-shaped core. Upon it was a new symbol among the emblems of the worlds of the Sobornost. All worlds, despite their varying environment, all believed in the goddess Futura, just like the identical outer ring of all those emblems shared.
Among the modular compartments of the space station, a few hundred individuals, all of them genetically-engineered, bio-augmented “humans”, commanded and interconnected through their cybernetic implants to the total network in the station. At the centre of this pseudo-hive mind was the on-board computer at the core of the space station. While not a true artificial intelligence like Futura, it still processed great intelligence to moderate an entire world, and its farcaster connection with Futura itself meant it can solve even the most complicated situations posed to them.
Soon after calibrating the descending orbit of the space station, a warning was given to everyone on board. In mere hours it would be disassembled and separately land on the new world. At the same time, some of the cryogenic chambers were opened. The minds of those individuals, previously connected to the mainframe for interaction and work, were released back to the awakening bodies, as they slowly stood from the chamber and got a hold of themselves.
Among them was Kobayashi Kazue, the one closest to the human leader of this expedition. Unlike the “functions”, which were merely puppets of the computer to perform their deeds, Kazue had her own soul. Designated as the commander of the expedition, both her soul, body, and implants were tailor-made for her job, granting her extraordinary bodily functions and beauty, as well as enhancing her reflexes and other functions.
It did not take her long to reconnect her mind with the others on board, as they started to move towards different compartments and connect to the local terminal to initiate landing procedure. While most adjustments were made by either the mainframe or the local computer, at least one of these enhanced humans were connected to ensure nothing went wrong, and to respond in emergency.
As all her subordinates once again connected to the terminal, Kazue sat back to her seat in front of the command post of the local hub. Once the landing was completed, it would become a relay station for information between nearby compartments and the mainframe, and thus the heart of the new colony. From her neck she pulled out a wire, and connected herself with the terminal with ease. As the connections opened, her mind was filled with all the senses given by this compartment. Once again, she felt that she was floating in space, with the glare of the star cleansing her body. Inside her were new lives that were raised by her, and the future of her and humanity.
She quickly assumed control of the compartment, as the airlocks between them started to seal. Afterwards, tubules between them was detached and reshaped to offer more protection to the compartments during the entry. Specifically made to withstand the entry and land safely, the dry and cool air within was not affected by the flames engulfing the modules as they enter the stormy atmosphere of Kinovar I.
Hours later, all modules landed onto the surface of the planet without accident. Heat shields were disassembled along with the emptied thrusters, revealing the bunker-like modules of the colonies. The network that made all cities in all worlds of the Sobornost was quickly assembled from node to node, sending every bits of information to the core, which managed to land as well. All of these information would be analysed and sent back to Futura, as part of its plan to administrate the entire faction of hundreds of millions of people.
From these modules, automatic mines, greenhouses, farmhouses, arsenal, forge, as well as breeding chambers, the production will be started once they went online. Within mere hours, the first batch of local individuals will be born, armed with locally-made equipment to further expand the cities of theirs. However, before this world can be claimed in the name of Futura, heretics must be cleansed. With that order given by the goddess herself, Kazue started to organise the compartments in her sector into a network, interconnected to relay order and information at the speed of light. Within hours, the first division of soldiers will be born, equipped, trained, and ready to fight and die for Futura.
