The Inaugural ball of the Post reformation CoC (Invite only)

Postby Sartedenland » Wed Feb 15, 2012 12:10 pm

Welcome, to all Commonwealth nations!

Outside the palace, 2hrs to go
"I am reporting live, from a rather chilly, central Vadaria, to report on the Inagural ball, some say the largest ball ever held in Sartedenland, the snow may be thick but so are the names of the leaders from our region and the crowds lining Vadaria's canals, riversides and grand boulevardes all wanting a glimpse of the international leaders on their way to, the recently and beautifully restored, Palazen d' Royal behind me. Some say this may help the Empress who has recently been quite reclusive as the 40th anniversary of the assasination of Emperor Otto V, her husband, approaches in May. Stay tuned for coverage of the arrival of the monarchs here, live, on SBC, back to the studio for Ferdinand and the weather."

Inside the Palace, reception room
Empress Alexandra was inspecting the last minute touches, the flowers being set for the arrival of the leaders, dusting of the priceless paintings and antiquities that fill the room, sudden movement of chairs and cushions.
"Hmmm... The blue, no wait the green!" says the deep, feminine voice of the chief of the royal household, Natya Brukk
"Everything alright Ms Brukk?" asked the Empress
"Oh Shii- ahem, yes, sorry your majesty," she said, in a much calmer tone "I was simply choosing which cushions go best with those chairs."
The Empress stopped, and stared at the antique furniture, the gold design of a large fleur-de-lis, had a faded appeal and grandeur.
"Hmmm," she said, then taking time to examine the entirety of the reception hall "The blue, the green would clash with the red wallpaper"
"Excellent choice madame" said Ms Brukk, while making a little curtsy "Blue cushions, blue cushions on all the furniture, please"
"Even the tables?" piped a voice of a mischevious decorator from the corner of the room, to much laughter and applause from the rest of the working staff
"Hmph. No. Come on! This is no time for fun and games, IF you finished earlier then you could've joked, but no, you just took your time, and now the deadline approaches, and the room is not yet ready! The ballroom staff are finished, the hallways, spotless for hours, the kitchen are putting things in the oven, but here, HERE, you haven't finished. A disgrace! Last time I hire your company to do the decorating!" Puffed Ms Brukk, before storming out of the room, to the rolling of the eyes of most of the staff, and the Empress.
Inside the palace, 2hrs to go
Alexandra then walked down the marbled corridors and down the stairs into the kitchen, to see the menu.
"Ma'am" said the head chef, Anton Skleszig
"Anton," said the empress, dodging a nervous looking chef carrying a very large salmon "what's for supper?"
"Well Ma'am, a traditional Sarteden menu tonight, starters we have either Salmon Sendrat, y'know, the lemon, bread sauce, or a Beetroot and chicken salad, then main course you either have Pork d' Zelter, y'know with the peaches peeled and sliced, the Brunkilzig soup, with only the finest beetroot, potato and carrot or the Tart Zingregger, made with salmon instead of cod for a much more upper class feel, then peach sorbet then the pudding which is either Pear and Blackberry pie, Sochertorte or Caramelised custard."
"Good, good, hope they like it" the empress says while adjusting her reading glasses
"So do I!" replied Skleszig, with a large grin.
"Better get myself ready then," said Alexandra, "No offense to you Anton, but I don't want to smell of fresh fish for the leaders!" and so she went, to prepare for upcoming ball.

Outside the palace, 1hr 30min to go
"We have reports that not only the empress will be there from Sartedenland, but her two children, Princess Jenisia and Prince Hugo, with their spouses, but nothing about the children, we expect they will be staying at home with their nannies as the night is expected to be long, and official."

Inside the Palace...
Hugo was straightening his tie, his wife, his future Empress consort, Princess Konstantina, was admiring herself in the next mirror along, she was wearing a large and expensive amber necklace
"Darling, do this suit me?" asked Konstantina
"Of course m'dear, you look stunning." He replied, before putting his arms around her waist for a cuddle
"I just hope Jenisia dosen't have the same thing, it was so embarresing with the pearls for the midnight mass!"
"Must admit darling, it was quite funny" he said while grinning
"Oof!" she said, before giving him a wallop with her fan

Jenisia was putting on her large and expensive amber necklace, the princess was with her husband, they had cut short their skiing holiday at the Empress's request to be there.
"Hope it's worth it," said Jenisia, while putting on some blush that complemented the necklace "I don't want a repeat of midnight mass, I'm not a huge fan of religion."
"I know," said her husband, the Prince Albert "just be glad you don't have to do that much of it, just imagine if your brother was going to be a sister, then you would've had to do it!"
"Aye, I've seen what being empress does to you, Mama was not the same since Papa's death."
"S'pose so, anyway, let's not dwindle on the past, Instead look forward to the future!"

The orchestra began playing the music in the reception room, making the entire crystal, red and gold room seem like it was stuck in the 18th century, the first guests were due to arrive any minute -

Outside the palace, a white car with a burgundy stripe on its flank stopped in front of the gates. From the car exited the king of Besate, King Simone I; he closes the car's door.
When He exited, he adjusted his black cape and with a little smile he approaches to the entrance while saluting bystanders citizens. Once entered, the King gives his cape to an aide, than He directed himself to Empress Alexandra III, after a bow He said-''Your Majesty, may I thank you for Yours kind invite to this ball in Your land''

King Winston was tired after his flight but looked forward to the ball, he gawped at the grand surroundings, Duchesss Clementine was also impressed, they saw the Empress and bowed - "Your majesty, we are delighted to have been invited to your ball!" They then turned and saw the King of Besate... "How's things Simone?" Winston asked, while Clementine adjusted her hair and sat down on the beautiful furniture.

Why thank you, I haven't heard your piece before but now I have, I think it is beautiful! The palace looks magnificent doesn't it? Much nicer here than out there, was quite cold out there, Clementine likes the cold, I'm not so keen!

King Alexander III of Norengland and his wife Queen Natali got out of their limousine. The King was wearing the traditional attire of the ruling Willborne family: a red tunic with gold lining and buttons, the simple gold crown and the sword of Adrian Willborne. It was a priceless heirloom, 400 years old and a symbol of his bloodline's right to rule. The queen wore a dark blue dress and a silver Tiara embedded with emeralds and diamonds. A cool Westerly breeze blew in their faces. "Nice weather" scoffed Alexander jovially. They were led into the palace by the staff. Upon entering he stopped and took a look at the palace interior.

"Stunning, quite stunning. A very different kind of glamour than what we have back home don't you agree?" said Natali, looking at the artwork and sculptures.

Alexander noticed King Winston of Churchill and walked over to the lord beaming. "You look a little worse for wear Winston, did the flight treat you alright?" He offered his hand. "I was quite relieved to hear you were coming, our kingdoms are very similar as are our tastes." He nodded to King Simone. "Glad you decided to come as well old friend."

Natali walked over to the Empress of Sartedenland and smiled. "Thank you for welcoming us to your home!" She noticed that the styles of the Empress's court were very different from Nori noble fashion and already she had some ideas she would share with her designer back in Oslia.

King Lysandus entered the reception, a burly, dark-skinned man with long black hair and a glorious, curling mustache. He wore a suit of Kevlar plate mail, emblazoned with the Purple Callygreyhound that was his personal heraldry. He wore a crown of steel, set with green and orange gems. Behind him trailed a long, purple-dyed fur cape, cut from the furs of a labyrinth-bear.

He had two cutlasses at his waist, and had a shotgun slung across his back. Eurarctans, living in a dangerous land, were traditionally armed wherever they went. Accompanying Lysandus were two of his most trusted Chaos Knights. Both wore full Kevlar plate mail with horned helms. One wore a green cape, and had a coiling pink centipede as his armor-heraldry, and carried a sledgehammer on his back, and a pistol at his waist. The other wore an orange cape and had a blue bear as his armor-heraldry, armed with only a small hatchet at her waist.

Lysandus was excited, being relatively new to the Commonwealth. But, a group of noble monarchs like him?! For that, he was overjoyed and excited! Perhaps here he would find other, honorable nations!

"Greetings honorable compatriots!" bellowed Lysandus, "How fares it?!"

King Simone turned His head-''Greetings to You too, Sir Lysandus''-than, looking at his weaponry, with a perplexed face-''Excuse me, Mister, are you going to a war? Not to be uneducated at Your address but this is a Gran Gala Ball, in Presence of a Lady (miss Alexandra III), and in a peaceful Country; aren't those kilograms of harming steel pretty...erm...unexpected?''

"Yes, I may have to attend battle later, but that is of no consequence," said Lysandus, "These are merely symbolic weaponry. It shows I am prepared to defend my comrades should danger break out. Symbolism! Certainly a fellow monarch can understand it's value, correct?"

Heinrich and Lucrezia von Varen, Dukes of Custozza and uncles of the Queen Erika I of Osberg-Thitania, entered the room. With Queen Erika immersed in the preparations for her wedding, the Dukes of Custozza had been sent to Vadaria in behalf f the Dual Kingdom of Osberg-Thitania.

Heinrich was dressing a black frock coat, and he was displaying her medals and insignias of his rank of general in the Royal Osberg-Thitanian Army. For her part, Lucrezia was wearing a elegant black night dress, custom-made for her by her favourite atelier of Custozza.

They presented saluted to Empress Alexandra, Heinrich with a reverence, Lucrezia with a curtsy. “Our sincerest congratulations for this ball, Your Higness. “said Heinrich “everything is flawless, from the music to the place”

“Oh, I´m sure that everything will go perfectly” said Heinrich “The event planned from long time ago, but it was postponed by the split of the Commonwealth… that everything it´s back of tracks, there is only some minor details to be dealt with.”
“Of course, no detail is too little for our lovely nice” said Lucrezia, in a tone that Empress Alexandra couldn’t decipher it was a accomplishment or a complaint. “So she sent us here in her behalf.”

Heinrich gave a look of disapproval to her wife, and the addressed again to Empress Alexandra. “Well, if you allow it your Highness, I will leave you alone with my wife, so you that can have some feminine chit-chat with a bit of privacy.” Doing a bow, he departed, looking for the other guests of the ball.

Duke Heinrich neared to king Lysandus. He didn´t find himself entirely comfortable in company of other nobles (and one couldn’t blame it, after a whole live of being married with Duchess Lucrezia). In the last meeting of the Commonwealth of Crowns, the presence of a communist leader saved him from boredom, and this time, the presence of king Lysandus promised to do the same. He had heard many strange things about Eurarcta, and he was curious to know more.
“Greetings, your Highness!” he said addressing to king Lysandus. “It´s an honour to have your nation amongst the members of the Commonwealth, and a pleasure to have you amongst us tonight.”

OOC: well Duke Heinrich didn´t choose to be born a noble. He sticks to his role because his sense of responsibility and his loyalty to his family, but personally he doesn’t see a lot of sense in a ruling class of nobles)

“I fare well, your Highness, thanks for your interest. I have been reading about your country quite a lot recently and I must confess that I crave to know more… the cities, the labyrinths, the travelling stagecoaches… I would like to see it personally, and I´m sure my wife would like it too….”

"Oh yes! Its definitely possible to gain access to them. The ease of getting lost depends on what strategy you are using to enter the labyrinth. The easiest thing to do would be to trace your way in by following the right-hand wall, and leave by turning around and following the left-hand, but then you do not see what looping structures -- architecture designed to defeat that modus -- hide from you. There are different, more complicated, and better methods of solving labyrinths, and there have been many 'Labyrinth Moduses' written about the philosophy of labyrinth-solving. And yes, I suppose they are dangerous, what with the traps and ecosystems down there. Not too dangerous for those who have lived in and among the labyrinths their whole lives, but moderately dangerous to untrained invaders. Thus, we use the things as shelters in times of war."
