Constitution Suspended and Military Policing Streets

After a government corruption scandal that led to fifty deaths, twenty-four arrests, and a huge reshuffle of the Ministry of Justice, protests had broken out. Within two days, the protests had turned bloody.

The Federal Bureau of Internal Security, responsible for domestic safety, criminal investigation, and countering domestic terrorism, had been the spotlight of a massive scandal, which the conspiracy behind it was to gain more federal funding, which Congress had decided to allocate to the Guardian Office for Fiscal Year 2015.

The plot was uncovered after a massive four-way shootout at the Welles National Theatre in Preslaff Hills area of the Capital, between two-different government agencies, both working for and against each other. The main conspirator has been identified as Special Agent Edward Clinton, a highly-decorated agent who had served as a former Imperial SSO officer, and was taken into custody.

The conspiracy group had been responsible for a raid on the corporate offices of Patriot Technologies last month, which was a major contractor to the Guardian Office.

After the massive arrests, Minister of Justice Quentin Ingalls resigned from office, as did most of his appointed staff. He has been reported as having been receiving thousands of death threats.

Hours after the scandal hit the social media, hundreds of thousands of protesters had gathered in Government Square in the Capital of Preslaff, rallying against the corruption they thought they had finally escaped as the Imperial regime was toppled last year.

Within two days of protests, things had turned for the worse. Massive clashes with anti-riot squads across the country had occurred, and hundreds have been killed on both sides.

Twenty-four hours after a State of Emergency had been declared by the President, Congress quickly rushed a bill through the Senate and Lower House, which President Harshmann signed into law this morning. The new law, titled the "Congressional Resolution to End Unreasonable Violence Act" (CREUVA), has authorized the Constitution of January 2014 to be suspended, and martial law to be implemented.

Within minutes of CREUVA being signed by President Harshmann, thousands of military reservists were called into active duty, and the Government Square has been closed to the general populace. Police officers wearing heavy armour and toting automatic rifles can be seen in quiet residential areas, and National Guardsmen in Humvees and tanks patroling high-density urban areas. State police units have been equipped to patrol more rural areas of the country.

Other sights to be seen are rather large surveillance balloons bearing police markings above major cities, detention centers being opened in high-poverty areas, and massive standoffs between police and rioters.

CREUVA, however, has not authorized police or the military to shoot unarmed civilians. "We're taking non-lethal means to this. A lot of people think this is the beginning of another totalitarian police state. We're just trying to end the violence," Major James Leary of the Carter State Guard told CCBC reporters.

"The CREUVA Act has the best interests at mind for the Castillian populace. Once the unreasonable violence ends, then it will be repealed. Trust me, those within the FBIS Scandal will be prosecuted quickly," President Harshmann was quoted saying in a press conference.

PRESIDENT HENRY MILANO WOUNDED IN ATTEMPTED COUP! MOKASTANA CITY UNDER MARTIAL LAW!

Details are coming in now, but it appears as if there was an attempted coup against the government of the new President of the Federation, Henry Milano, earlier today by certain unidentified military leaders. In addition to the President, numerous other members of the Security Council are considered wounded and receiving treatment at an undisclosed location.

As of now, members of the 1st Marine Division have occupied Mokastana City with the Aide of the 1st Division of the Socialist Workers Army. Units from the 1st District Guard and 1st Army, the traditional forces used to protect the Capital, have been ordered to stand down by the Navy.

Unofficially, Marine forces have blocked off the roads leading to the 1st District Guard's Headquarters downtown but so far no attempts to siege the Headquarters has been made. This is in despite of earlier reports of 1st District Guard and Socialist Workers Army units engaging in battle outside of the Presidential Palace.

Details are still sketchy, but as of now we know that the SWA has occupied the Plaza De La Revolucion and is holding a perimeter around the 1st District Guards Headquarters, possibly with assistance of the 1st Marine Division. Currently units from both the Marines and the SWA have been seen turning peole away from the 1st District Guard HQ. Additional units from the 1st Marine Division have been deployed to the streets of Mokastana City and both Parliament and the Supreme Court are cut off from public access by Marine Forces.

Wait, this just in. Admiral Miguel Peron, Commander of the Eastern Navy is requesting that Fegosian Union soldiers stationed in Mokastana City to remain in their bases and to let the Mokans handle this internal affair.

UPDATE ONE:

At approximately 12:30 am this morning, two cruise missiles were fired from Naval vessels off the coast of Mokastana City towards a 1st Army military base outside of Mokastana City.

Additionally, soldiers from the Marine Corps have been sighted escorting parliamentarians from their homes under the cover of darkness.

At 3:00 am this morning, President Pablo Diego of Mejico and President Ben Rodriguez of El Sur both affirmed their loyalty to the Federation. Requesting a meeting with Naval and Army Leaders to determine what happened.

No word yet from President Esteban Martinez of the Islands, or the Speaker of the People or the Presiding Senator.

UPDATE TWO:
President Pablo Diego of Mejico has been elected by majority vote of the Mokan Emergency Council as acting President of the Federation. Sources claim the Emergency Council had been in contact with the Speaker of the People and Presiding Senator, as well as the President of the Islands. However, due to all being possibly being in compromised positions, the vote was held without their input.

The Vice President of the Federation still has not been located.

Diego has requested the Navy turn over control of Parliament and the Parliamentarians to Fegosian Union assets in the Capital until Army Units from Mejico can be deployed.

A formal request has been sent to the Fegosian Union to assist until a clear picture of what happened can be determined.

Unofficial reports of 1st Army Units fighting with Marine Forces outside the Capital cannot be verified.

Evidence suggests that both missiles fired from Navy Vessels were indeed launched, one was shot down and the other is believed to have struck a communications center for the 1st Army.

President Pablo Diego of Mejico sits behind his desk in Mejico City, many thousands of kilometers away from the Chaos that happened the Capital earlier this week and gave a speech to the nation regarding the events that unfolded:

"My fellow citizens, earlier this week there was an attempted military coup by various military leaders spark by some unknown event. This coup disabled the Security Council, including the President, commanders of the Air force, Army and Navy, as well as the Director of Intelligence. Charles Villa was not at the meeting and as such was spared. The President is in critical condition and is being treated.

When this event happened, an emergency meeting of the Mokan Emergency Council was held and as such we determined with the majority of the civilian government in compromised hands, we had to make a decision to stabilize the country before things could get worse. With the President, Vice President, and Parliament leaders either missing or possibly compromised, I was elected to be the acting President of the Federation according to the rules laid out in the Constitution.

Using Executive powers, I had ordered the Navy to turn over Parliament and its leaders to Fegosian Union assets in the Capital and withdraw from Mokastana City, they complied. I had ordered the First Army and the First Reserve Guards to stand down as well and using Mejican Military assets through satellite and alternative methods confirmed both were complying.

That night I ordered the 77th Ironheart Paratrooper Division from the 5th Army of Mejico to land south of Mokastana City and occupy until belligerents could be determined.

Today I can say that I have met with leaders of Intelligence and Naval and Army command and we have arrested various Army officers who had been involved in the coup. Now is not the time to release details, but I can assure the coup is over. The Mokan Civilian government remains in power, and those responsible for this incident are being taken care of.

Haize Armed Forces Confirmed on Rapid Mobilization of Military Units

CIRDANEZ - Haize Armed Forces' official spokeperson Taichi-Korov had recently confirmed a conjecture thrown by independent analysts and online forums alike where the organization is currently reorganizing its military units and reactivating reserve personnel in wake of Haize satellite disaster and regional politics chaos in the Eastern Greater Dienstad. As a result, the Socialist Worker's Party Headquarters released a video of a recovering Henry Milano in a well taken care of hospital room, though incapable of speaking due to a device over his face, he is shown writing on a white board messages such as: "I AM ALIVE" and "I SUPPORT PABLO". Pablo DIego being the President of Mejico who is acting as President of the Federation for the moment. Additional information in the release by the Socialist Worker's Party claims that Milano is recovering nicely but will wait until fully healed before resuming his duties.

There are others suspected of being part of the coup but they have not been confirmed nor detained yet. A Special Forces Platoon that only answered to Ivan Canarias had engaged in combat with Federal Forces outside of a village in Central Mokostan Island(the Main Island). The Speical Forces group was confirmed to be completely KIA by the end of hostilities.

Federal Investigators believe that the coup occurred when President Henry Milano confronted Generalissimo Ivan Canarias with evidence of his connection to drug operations and other illicit activities within Mokastana, including talks with an as yet unnamed foreign power. This is believed to have sparked the shootout that left the majority of the Security Council hospitalized and sparked the unexpected coup.

Entire Presidency Resigns

In a shocking turn of events just a week after protests broke out in the Capital, President Harshmann resigned, as did the Vice-President, and the Cabinet. The Senate Majority Leader of the Conservative Party, Fred Callahan, was sworn in as Acting President of the Federation until elections were held today.

The protests that have been progressing into an all-out civil war had started last week in response to a government corruption scandal conducted by agents in the upper echelons of the Federal Bureau of Internal Security, who were engaged in a massive war for funding with another government agency. Fifty were killed in a final shootout in a theatre when federal agents from the Federal Anti-Corruption Task Force.

The resulting shootout ended with twenty-four arrests, as police units across the country moved in on suspects.

Protests broke out within hours of the scandal hitting social media, and the Congressional Resolution to End Unreasonable Violence Act was passed, implementing martial law. As military divisions worked with police units to ensure the safety of the populace, the protests had gotten bloodier, until the Far-Right party, the Castillian National Socialist Party, systematically waged attacks upon the Federal government, proclaiming war against the "communist Harshmann Administration," it said on its Twitter page shortly before it was removed.

Yesterday, President Harshmann announced his resignation from office, and stated his cabinet had convened, and decided it would be best for their own safety and for the people of the Federation, to resign from office. Harshmann's approval rating went from a high eighty-nine percent to an abysmal six percent since CREUVA was passed. Henry Harshmann left the country today, as masses of Castillian voters turned out for the emergency election.

Many of the candidates on the ballot today were not from the Conservative Party, who held a majority in both the executive and legislative branches, but from the National Socialist Party and the Communist Party of the Castillian People. Only one Conservative Party candidate was on the ballot.

Analysts predict that the National Socialist Party will secure at least seventy-four of the one-hundred Senate seats, and ninety-five of the one-hundred and twenty five Lower House seats, along with their candidate in the Executive branch. The most prominent of their candidates is J. Oswald Vaughn, a former commander in the Imperial Legion.

It is not known that the Federal government will allow the National Socialists or the Communists to retain their seats, given that their ideologies are both extremely radical and have both been placed on the National Security Administration's watch list.

The parliament and the East Mordent government have signed into law to dissolve the charter of the RMC operating in East Mordent. With the end of the RMC charter the East Mordent government will replace the RMC with the East Mordent national police or EMNP, along with the creation of the EMNP the parliament also approved the creation of several more agencies in East Mordent. The list includes East Mordent border police, East Mordent Engineering Corps, East Mordent Wildlife and fisheries Enforcement, East Mordent Emergency Management, East Mordent Coast Guard, and the East Mordent Port authority and Tourism agencies.

The East Mordent government also reportedly plans to cut all ties to West Mordent and Morrdh. The borders will be closed and remain closed till further notice.

Disaster Strikes Spaceship Construction

CCA - The Commonwealth Colonial Authority has declared that the construction of the first of it's new Darwin class explorer spaceships has suffered a major accident.

No details are forthcoming as of yet but reports have surfaced of an explosion that ripped through the main structure of the vessel and damaged the orbital dockyard in which it was being built. Shortly after the incident the Royal Space Force invoked the Reserve Forces Act and commandeered a number of CCA civilian vessels in Earth's orbit, though this has led many to speculate the severity of the incident.

After the attacks by Morrdh out the blue and with no known reason to attack a allie, which was a act of war by force the parliament with pushing from the East Mordent government voted to day to declare war on Morrdh officially. Even though a ceasefire was suppose to have taken place days ago renewed fighting has taken hold again and the forces in East Mordent are under the gun again.

The parliament spokes person stated that it wasn’t a hard choice and or vote for most since the government of Morrdh likes to attack countries when they are looking the other way.

The Military had really no say so in this the people of Imbrinium and East Mordent wanted this for justice.

In other news East Mordent airport and military airbases that had their runways bombed are back up and running taking troops and supplies over and wounded back from the front, the RIAF may start running bombing missions again against Stevid later in the week from its bases in East Mordent.

Morridane Govt Issues Formal Apology

MORRDUN - The Morridane government has issued a formal apology to the Kingdom of Imbrinium over the failure of Morridane troops to adhere to a ceasefire.

A spokesperson from the Morridane Ministry of Defense stated that damaged sustained by the Commonwealth's communications network during the fighting had tragically stopped the ceasefire order from being received by frontline troops. As a result Morridane troops were unaware of a ceasefire when Imbrinium guns fell silent and had presumed the Imbriniums were withdrawing.

The Morridane government has since made sure that frontline troops are now fully aware that a ceasefire has been called and hopes, despite the tragic incident, that the Imbriniums will still honour it.
