Tajen nodded.

"Greetings, Dr. Jupin, Ambassador Legarus." Tajen said warmly.

He Looked back hearing a small noise and saw Doctor Jupin and his compatriot approaching

"Doctor Jupin, Its been too long, How are you dear fellow?" He said, a huge smile on his face

"Excellent, Sir Griffin," said Dr. Jupin, bowing as usual for a Frenequestan. "This is Dr. Densen Quine, who mans the Barnes Offsite Telescope on Orbit 23B on the Aprioriposteriori exobase, and this is Pervis Schneider, his assistant," he continued, gesturing to his likewise bowing companions. "I take it you're still Prime Minister of the Floor Kippers?"
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

The 'Black' Room
Cristae, Mitochondria
Jan. 16, 3005 - 3:00 AM

A secret meeting was currently being held among Mitochondria's government elite. The reason? Solving a few internal affairs. His Royal Highness King Mitochondrius III, Foreign Minister Zachariah Mordova, Chief Diplomat Harry Vorscyth, Generalissimo LaForza Quaarx, and Chief Technocrat Darren Rafflesius were sitting in their designated seats next to the long metallic black table; except for Darren. He apparently was late. "Oh where could that boy be?" complained King Mitochondrius as he tapped slowly on the table. Suddenly Darren came running in, out of breath and in a panicked/excited state. "Nephew! There you are boy, we can't start the meeting without you." the king said.

"But, but, but," Darren continued, "There's urgent news... outside news..."

"What kind of outside news? Above all, from where?" questioned the king.

"It's... foreign affairs... a transmission... was sent... by New... Amerik." Darren stopped to catch his breath before continuing. As he did so, the rest of the committee was shocked at the news laid before them. New Amerik hadn't sent a transmission in over 12 years, and to actually receive a transmission from them in so long was strangely suspicious. They knew something wasn't right. Afterwards, Darren went to the large screen behind the table and with the keypad before him, typed the coordinates to the probe on the Galactic Map Locator, and pressed enter. It instantly zoomed in on Mitochondrian Space, where the SS Neo-Krishna stumbled upon an interdimensional probe. It instantly logged into comm channels on the Neo-Krishna and a voice spoke from the screen. "Permission to scan the object for receiving transmission?" asked the captain of the Neo-Krishna.

"Permission granted," the king answered. From there, the Neo-Krishna scanned the probe for the transmission and the message was immediately sent to the 'black' room's main screen. The committee read the message and immediately decided on a course of action. "Alright Vorscyth," the king remarked, "Take the transporter to the Neo-Krishna. From there you will travel to the Amerikan universe on the ship and contact them there." A moment of thought burst into the foreign minister's mind and abruptly spoke. "Oh, speaking of foreign affairs your highness, you and I must attend the UGFLSPN Reunion today. They're expecting us early."

"Oh yes we must do that shouldn't we?" The king cleared his throat and continued. "Vorscyth will visit New Amerik while Mordova and I will attend this reunion. LaForza, Darren; you two will keep watch of the planet while we are away. Don't mess with anything. We shall continue this meeting later." From there, the members stood up and were dismissed to their proper posts.

Thirty minutes later, Harry Vorscyth had taken the teleporter onto the Neo-Krishna and was charging up the Interdimensional Slipstream Enlarger heading for the Amerikan universe. A large, strange orange orb shot out of the ship and imploded and expanded, creating a hole in between the universes allowing the ship to pass through. On the other side, the hole appeared, expanded, and the Neo-Krishna reappeared from the void. Then a message was relayed to New Amerik's presumed location:

Attn: Leaders of New Amerik

This is the Technocratic Kingdom of Mitochondria; we have received your message and have entered your universe to inquire as to New Amerik's new whereabouts. We intend to extend diplomatic relations to your nation once more after the long silence that has befallen your nation after 12 years. Please respond so that we may inquire as to the location of where we should conduct these affairs.

Astroengineering Spire, Sadevko City, New Amerik

"Emperor, mylord, we have more incoming transmissions. We record the Mitochondrians hailing us as well!"

"Ah, excellent. It is good to see, respond and attach the beacon location at once. I must be on my way immediately..."

"Yes sir!"

As the doktor scurried off, another person approached. Unlike the doktors around them, though, this person hailed from...a different form of service.

"Emperor, we report an unknown vessel breaching our system as of merely eight minutes ago. From the most recent reports, it matches no known national nation we can report. It just hopped right in, and...Emperor, we suspect they may be harboring weaponry. We've reported it attemtping to make contact with the Warhaven representative's ship. Your orders?"

"...You know what to do, Admiral. Send out a warning signal asking it to identify itself, and should it continue to ignore our responses or act hostile move to engage with first hostile contact."

"Yes, Emperor."

The man moved off to send the signal as the doktors took their places among the machinery workings, and with a turn on his heels the Emperor exited the room to prepare for his entrance.

We hail you once again in the name of the Living God. Your request for coordinates has been answered, for your delegates are to arrive at....(coordinates)... as soon as possible, if you are sending any. There is a small group already present.

Diplomacy Center

As the diplomats milled around and conversed, a car came down from the sky. Or, at least, whatever the Amerikans used for cars.

Fairly long and streamlined to the hilt, the car hovered on six jets about three feet off the ground. It's fins stretched out over two feet behind the actual rear end, and the wheeless sides nevertheless had wing tips running along each side down the entire vehicle. Jet black, it resembled not so much a normal civilian transport as an armored old 1930s Rolls-Royce, but yet it still had, if one looked closely, additional plating coating it surreptisiouly put on to avoid obvious interest. From it, four soldiers stepped - and to those that had seen the Legionnaires of the Holy Technocracy before, these were...different.

They seemed to be around seven feet tall each, having to duck as they existed out of the vehicle to make room. Each one wore a black shining suit, made of some kind of plastic it seemed that was folded into carapace overlapping sections down each area of the body. Overneath, they had on what looked to be capes, glimmering in a dark, rich, glittering green. Underneath, where most people would have legs they instead of three-toed, balanced foot extension prosthetics that seemed to put a slight spring into every step they took. And in the middle of their chest section of armor, they had on an overarmor that covered only their shoulders and chest, showcasing a glass display with what looked to be three green vials inside. By far the most striking element of their ensemble, however, were the masks. Each and every Legionnaire wore the same type of mask, completely covering their face from view and in the same black as the armor they wore. They all had the same design - a functional filter-mask that automatically served to filter the very air they breathed, and circular eye sections inset with glass so dark those looking in couldn't see the actual eyes of the guard looking back.

They moved with an eerie sense of grace and agility, every step seeming to be taken with the utmost of care and efficiency as they - deceptively quickly - encircled the group. None of them were armed, but they all seemed to be waiting for something - or some people.

The door to the car, meanwhile, locked shut before the diplomats could see what was inside.

...

Continuous futile attempts were made at identifying the mysterious ship's interiors and supposed origins, but no matter what, the only thing that the inquisitive surveyors seemed to be getting out of it all was a plethora of software errors that ended up cluttering their already strained systems, causing some to instantly shut-down in order to protect their valuable hardware from the deluge of incoming errors.

After having encircled and patrolled the exterior of the peculiar ship for over fifteen minutes, its geometry being alien to the surveyors and its phasing hull appearing almost non-existent, an onyx data-cube was materialised next to one of the orbiting surveyors, its contents subsequently extracted and the resulting information transmitted directly to the nearby Ha'gara.

The drifting envoy vessel groaned and screeched as it thoroughly decrypted, analysed and scrutinised every segment and line of alien data contained within the data-base.

After only a few mere seconds the massive library, it self of immense value had been categorised, analysed and utilised, allowing the ship's massive and super-intelligent AI core to vigorously transmit messages of peace and prosperity in the native Warhaven tongue to the unknown ship.

"Your presence delights us and satisfies us, may our nations meet and enlighten each other, may we live in peace and maintain it for all the millennia to come.

We are the Volnotovians, and we have arrived here to spread peace and prosperity to your realm and beyond and share our valuable technologies and knowledge for mutual benefit and interests.

We speak not in tongues of fire, we are not here to take by force that which we cannot gain trough commerce.

May the light of wisdom shine upon you, may it touch you and purify your souls, may it elevate your minds so that they may become one.

May we stand and unite together, for times memorial till the decay of time and beyond."

The message was repeated several times in every language contained within the alien data-base and spread across the vast system.

Gliding trough the vast emptiness of space, drifting across its boundless horizons and its vast tracks of endless possibilities, the envoy remained in place in a state of complete tranquillity, irradiating only mystery and wonder and inspiring awe in those that glanced over its veiled exteriors, beckoning those that gazed upon its grace to inspect it with vigour, to unlock and unravel the enigmatic mysteries that laid contained deep beneath its esoteric appearance.

It was now up to the curious occupants of the alien ship to contact their superiors and inform them of the arrival of a mysterious envoy from a realm far beyond their own.

The Anomally:

"We are The Warhavenites, we too are glad to meet you in peace. I have now scanned enough of your ambient brainwaves to communicate in your language.

This is NOT our system, this the New Amerikan's system. You would be wise to communicate with them, since you are new. The Data cube I sent was a universal translator. It will allow you to speak with the New Amerikans without error, and understand their replies." Edward replied in flawless Volnotovian.

....

Meanwhile, down in the center, Tajen waited quietly to see what would happen next.

At first, nothing but complete silence and utter emitted from the mysterious envoy, seconds went by as the ship's exotic propulsion drives geared into action, setting course for the New Amerik homeworld while repeating the same cryptic message over and over again.

"Affirmative"

The only message transmitted was a simple and sedate confirmation, ending the rather awkward silence that had dominated the secretive atmosphere surrounding the obscure spacecraft.

Rapidly thrusting it self towards the Amerikan capital the ship's AI began taking all necessary precautions.

If only they knew...

Secret IC:

Edward opened up a secure private channel to New Amerik, to communicate with the New Amerikan security forces.

"This is Edward, second in command of Emperor Tajen Darkson's private ship, The Anomally. We've encountered an alien craft designating itself as Volnotovian. We know nothing, but I have decrypted their language, and provided them with universal translators. They do not seem hostile, merely undereducated and not fully understanding of the realities of Space travel, and inter-Dimensional travel. While what you do is up to you, this being your territory and all, I do advise taking pity on them, and giving them more than one chance. But, don't let your guard down either. We won't." Edward said, trying to be courteous and brief the system owners on what all he knew.

He'gana looked beyond just bitterly upset, her spotless and pretty face expressing nothing but divine fury, her shallow eye lids raised and her piercing eyes resembling a blistering inferno.

She felt like sacking and utterly destroying the entire place, violently flinging around and rupturing its fine interiors, shattering its reinforced walls and ceiling and unleashing her anger upon her calm surroundings.

But in the end she knew that no matter what, the current situation would remain unresolved, and thus she only unleashed a faint sigh, echoing trough the hollow corridors of her mind and further infuriating her already enraged demeanour.

Her long white hair obscuring her view, in all this rage there was also immense disappointment, although it was expressed in a much more subtle manner, only faintly displayed trough a weighted curved back accompanied by lowered shoulders, her aquamarine eyes facing the cold, steel floor beneath her.

Surrounded by opulent displays of wealth, magnificent feats of technology and countless holographic projectors, she could only experience the terrible ordeal of slowly drowning in her own sorrow.

Not that it mattered, for she was but an AI, an advanced one arguably, and one capable of conciousness, but nevertheless an AI.

The entire scene had been nothing but an artificial construct of her mangled mind, haunted corridors infested by even more abominable demonic figures.

As a wealthy member of the tiny Volnotovian club of overlords she stood at the head of the gargantuan Archachon Technology Consortium.

Days went by as she wondered as whether it had always been like this, only to end being brutally slapped in the face by her own digital prison, the immense loneliness only further inflicting excruciating mental pain upon her unbearable existence.

Today had been nothing but a complete failure of a magnitude so boggling that even the thought of the unforeseen consequences laid out before her would strike terror into her blighted heart.

Even now the entire Archachon fleet had been scrambled and relocated to the desolate Vyoran system in order to protect it against all costs against the prophesied terrible onslaught.

Tacticians and strategists accompanied by brilliant minds had been recalled at once, thousands of gargantuan supercarriers and mind-boggling dreadnoughts were ordered to warp in and return in order to further fortify the system against a horde of invaders that would most likely soon thrust themselves trough the widening rip in order to lay siege on the prime Archachon system in the galaxy.

Mighty Archachon warships, each kilometres across and often accompanying millions of offensive drones at a time together with vast arrays of planet-shattering weapon of mass destruction, eagerly awaited their upcoming orders.

Even the towering planetary defences were fortified and reconfigured for maximum efficiency as their state of the art particle accelerator cannons were armed with high-velocity anti-matter slugs.

As the seconds went by and slowly flooded the lake of time, Heg'ana nervously awaited the impending doom, trusting her cold, lifeless mechanical armada, or her "friends" as she preferred to call them, to protect her no matter the cost.

Even Gods could bleed, she knew.

The Pathfinder Project was successful. A celebration took place after the first valid message for 12 years from New Amerik in the 37th Fleet Headquarters, which was the Starfleet's Signal Intelligence Command, responsible for the Pathfinder Project. Nevertheless, the Empress searched for her body in the storage. Since she was going to travel to another dimension, she needed an independent body, as opposed to a remote-controlled one which she usually uses for in-galaxy missions, as the coverage of the Clank Collective now reached 100% in the Milky Way galaxy, however, it depended on a great amount of help, technology, and repeater stations from the Borg. And she needed body transport capable starships, as she would like to physically take part in the meeting.

As a physical CPU was present running the Empress, the 1st Army dispatched 32 Parta III-F class fighters, following the First Law of Robotics. They were similar to the versatile Parta III platform. They were controlled by an uploaded Clank operating system (AI), were 17 000 mm long, 6 000 mm wide and 3 500 mm tall at their extreme points. This sleek and elegant fighter class had 1 Mk. II Dirac-Delta Emitter mounted statically on the nose of the vessel, which was, owing to the enhanced Antimatter reactors of the ship, could fire in quick succession, and with the power of an early 20th century Species 5618 demolitions device with an explosive yield of 1 megaton TNT. The ships had 2-2 automated self-defense turrets on its two wings, designed and optimized against fighters and smaller spacecraft, however, in large masses and with good tactics, they could keep a cruiser-sized ship's deflector shields busy. They were as well carrying 4 Photon torpedoes, with the rated warhead yield of 10 kilograms*c^2. These ships had an advanced sensor array, which could identify and lock on uncloaked targets within 1 light year. The difference between an usual Parta III class vessel and the 1st Army's version was that the latter was much stronger. It was powered by a frigate-class Antimatter reactor, thus had greater power capacity. The entire exterior hull was made from a neutronium-unobtanium superconducting electromagnetic reactive plate armor, which was a fairly heavy armor in the world of Imperial starships. They were manufactured to be impervious to handheld weapons fire, both kinetic and energy, and could withstand a far amount of punishment, even with the shields being off. However, these plates was designed for defense against railgun and similar kinetic/explosive projectiles, and they do not provide notable protection against medium to heavy starship cannon fire. These ships were designed in collaboration with the Borg, and apart from the visible Borg instrumentation on the hull, and that these vessels are giving off a clearly Borg energy signal, they are capable of regeneration when traveling at a speed of maximum Warp 8, and both their weapons and shields remain off-line, due to the power requirement of the replicators and repair nanobots. The shields were replaced with Borg standard multi-adaptive shields, which should adapt after 3 shots fired against any vessel the group, even if the vessel gets destroyed. After adaptation they are designed to be impervious to the same weapon in the same frequency. Against weapons they were not adapted to, however, they tend to be less effective than standard deflector shields. The weapons slots on the wings were got reduced to two, but these are equipped with Borg cutter beams, that could easily cut through unshielded light-to-medium armored vessels in test trials. The thicker the armor, however, the harder they can cut through, but they can become a nuisance for shielded enemies as well, as being able to produce a fairly static, high-powered beam.

In total, 34 vessels jumped to the dimension of the Amerikans. The 32 Parta III-F class Space superiority fighters escorting the Empress in her personal yacht. It had a long nose, and where the wings would be, it carried two large nacelles, which was a torpedo launcher at front, warp coil in the middle, and ion engine at the back. The nacelles carried heavy automatic ship-to-ship weapons, as small, automatic independent turrets, two of them on each wing, one at the top, and one at the bottom at the vessel, with the nacelle turrets covering a 240 degree arc each, and the central turrets covering a complete, 360 degree arc on the lowest, and topmost points of the vessel. They were designed to be deadly against low to middle-armored targets. Through the center of these nacelles, a forward-swept wing dominated, with two Borg cutter beams fixed on their end-point, and still through the nacelles, dividing them to 4, one-one vertical fin was visible, which were V-shaped, and met the primary wings at the lower extreme of their apparent W shape when viewed from above. In the nacelles, 4-4 photon torpedoes sat, each with 10 kg*c^2 yield ready to be launched. According to the ship registry, it was classified as a Stargate-capable VIP Escort Fighter, but many would consider it as a frigate instead. The last vessel of the line was the small probe, which first spotted the Amerikan signal in deep space.

This wing arriving at the Technocracy's borders, would quickly show up on the long-range sensors and display a high energy Borg energy signature, and with the box formation which they flown across subspace at Warp 9.9 to the Amerikan homeworld, they could be easily mistaken for a Borg Cube on the radar.

Imperial Spire, Sadevko City, New Amerik

The Emperor had left, and when the Emperor had left the messages received in absenteeism were transferred over to the other supreme ruler - the Living Goddess, Empress Tabitha Agnate de Sadev. Currently standing alongside the individual that had so recently been with her husband, she intently scanned the messages, before looking up at the stars.

"Send them both one final warning, all languages known. If they intend to have a war, they will not find one here. And...prepare planetary defense mechanism. Relay the other leaders. Start the Mechanism of Hopes and Dreams."

The individual nodded in response to the Empress's words, before responding, "Absolutely, my Lady" and walking out to prepare.

Across the nation and the globe, the preparations were made, the other nations already preparing their own. Deep within subterranium facilities, coordinates of the approaching were assessed and locked on to, Slipdrives attuned to their locations and stockpiles of thermonuclear readied to be launched deep within their innards if need be. In the gleaming cities of Japan, links were sent out to connect with orbital defences stations, turning towards the newcomers slowly, a visible sign of guarding. Within the Cult Lands, cabals of the highest order drew out mystic rites of summoning, preparing to draw into existence things that had never once existed in reality.

And within the deep confines of the Hall, the Mechanism of Hopes and Dreams was fired up, glowing as, second by second, it amassed power to fuel the effect of its firing...

"Your prescence within this system has been determined by a joint consent by the UNS to be in violation of peace treaties drawn up encompassing Sol space. Immediately identify yourselves and purpose, or the UNS will take hostile deterrent action against your side. Again, immediately state identity and purpose - this is your last warning."

I thought the technology in New Amerik has actually improved since 12 years... Now they can't tell Borg and Clank apart. She noted this mentally to her receiving the message, then sent the probe forward and told her to make a radar scan on the vessels. After receiving the results, which even her computer had identified positively as a Borg Cube, she was genuinely scared knowing about the not-so-positive galaxy-wide attitudes regarding the Borg, and regarding her flashing tactical screen, which detected missile locks on her vessel.

She quickly ordered the fighters to break formation, and they rapidly changed it, now they flown in V-shaped masses with decent distances between them, thus the group could be clearly identified as wings of small vessels. The identification was still Borg, but certainly better as Borg didn't have fighters. (Actually used to not having, as they have assimilated fighter technology and tactics from the Empire.) Then she opened a channel back to the New Amerik homeworld, then sent a message.

Code: Select all

We are NOT Borg, you will NOT be assimilated.
This is the diplomatic mission of the Empire of Starkindler. This message was followed by messages of all 32 fighters identifying themselves.
Code: Select all

Sir! I am serving in the 1st Army, the Crown Guards, Sir! I am here to escort Her Most Serene Majesty, the Grand Crown of the Star of the Queens, and protect her from damage on the way and on the planet, Sir! I am under orders NOT to open fire on any of your vessels, Sir!

The last was the mousy Cadet identifying herself. It was certainly a different voice from either the clear feminine voice of the Empress, or the strong voices of the Elite troops of the Army.

The group, however powered their shields to the full, and hoped that they wasn't the ones the Amerikans were looking for.

The Ha'gara rapidly accelerated, igniting its rear fusion-powered afterburners while speeding across the vast endless tracks of space at a mind-boggling velocity.

What the reason was? One could but guess in vain. But unless the puzzled Amerikan's would take notice in time that the envoy ship had gone terribly haywire and run amok and was setting for a collision with their precious homeworld, one could but hope, hopefully not in vain, that they would do so quickly enough in order to prevent the rogue malfunctioning spacecraft from spectacularly disintegrating upon upon violently colliding with a major New Amerikan population centre, and, in case such a situation would not occur, at the very least violently crash into a flourishing Amerikan spacestation.

The peaceful lives of millions of Amerikan citizens were now at stake, and the earlier peaceful intentions of the mysterious envoy might soon be judged and confused as vile acts of aggression again the New Amerikan nation.

Closing in on Sol III of this dimension, the Empress glanced once again on the radar and found a ship of unknown configuration, but with energy signatures faintly resembling Species 5618 on a collision course with the planet with full afterburners on. Directing a scan on it, however, could not find any life signs, and the energy signal of it was wildly fluctuating. The Imperial vessels then made a transmission between each other, in the same time, shaking their heads, mostly virtually, as only the Empress had a physical head at that moment.
"Species 5618."
They said, depicting their low opinion on the human species in general. Then the Empress gave the order.
"00000 to 00111 get that ship on a tractor beam before it collides with the planet, or any hair triggers blast that ship into fine space dust!"
"Ma'am, yes ma'am!"
A stark response could be heard, as the 8 elite fighters powered their warp engines to the maximum rated speed, Warp 9.9999999.

Within a split second, they reached firing range of that ship, dropping out from warp in a semicircle behind it, and trying to encircle the ship by engaging it at full impulse. Meanwhile, their shields were on, and the reactive plating was energized to brace for impact. With their main cannons, they targeted anything that even faintly resembled a thruster, or a weapons mount, and with their Borg cutter beams, they tried to separate them from the apparently lightly armored vessel. Their torpedoes wasn't fired as the Empress meant with that order that she would like that vessel immobilized, but not atomized.

Meanwhile, 4 of them would constantly try to get around the ship, and try to find a tractor beam lock on it, to slow, or stop the vessel.

...

Big chunks of the ruptured hull gave lose as the determined Starkindler ships made futile attempts at separating the thrusters and afterburners from the main body of the malfunctioning envoy.

As various particle-accelerator cannons violently kept pounding the enigmatic lightly armed craft it finally could take no more, as the last blast penetrated the feeble hull and melted away its interiors the craft finally spectacularly disintegrated, allowing it to fall apart while scattering its mysterious insides over a vast area near the lush capital world, ranging from fractured hull plates to advanced quantum computer components, all of them now setting course for the Amerikan homeworld in the form of a wicked shotgun blast composed mainly of dangerous charred and immolated space junk, including the mangled remains of the ships advanced AI core, now speeding trough the darkness of space at such high velocities that even a minor component of the shattered ship could be utilised as weapons of unforeseeable mass destruction.

As larger pieces of the fractured puzzle drifted and glided trough the vastness of space the remaining dust slowly settled where the esoteric ship had fallen apart, and like a speeding comet an elongated trail of often dangerous space debris consisting of an array of junk ranging from reactor components to the splintered remains of molecularly engineered hull plating had formed along the way to be gazed upon by any eager nearby spectators.

If only they knew...

Tajen's communicatpr beeped, and so he put on an eye piece.

"Emperor, a strange alien vessal has been blown apart. Fractured pieces now speed toward the planet, you are in danger." Edward's voice could clearly be heard saying.

"Don't be ridiculous, I'm the son of The Darkness. It'll take more than an exploding space craft to do me in." Tajen declared.

He raised a single hand to the sky, reality screamed as it ripped itself apart into a single massive Void Nexus, right infront of the path of the shrapnel. The Shrapnel would fall out of existence and remain trapped within The Void until further notice. The ships safely gone, he brought his hand down and The Void Nexus closed itself, reality returning to normal.

Mechanism of Hopes and Dreams, Hall of Unorthodox Science, New Amerik

The operators had done their part for the mighty machine.

Incense had been placed around the room where the targeting processors were located to better clear its view as it locked on to the various space objects first located then tracked. The correct rites had been performed, oiling up the behemoth device and imparting into it a modicum of righteous defiance as it started to process data and perform simulations of correction and error for maximum accuracy. The team of doktors, thirteen in all, had input the feedback from past experiments and set the intensity of the result. All there was to do now was to fire it, and wait.

The Machine of Hopes and Dreams swung around, a massive gun looking for its next target. As it locked on to the area of space where the objects, nonresponsive still and so determined to be hostile, it began to slowly gather power. All over the country, the lights dimmed slightly, the machine partly diverting power from every immense source it could to fuel it.

The message had come in - some of the ships had responded - they had said they were from the Empire of the Starkindler, and their response had caused the order to shift from them to the other object, that defied all attempts to communicate. But - now - it had split into many, many fragments. As the cascade of debris ran through the empty expanse of space on their way to the blue planet, the operators nodded to each, clasped hands together, and began to pray.

Diplomacy Center, Sadevko City

The guards surrounding the group stiffened slightly, listening intently as miniature orders relayed through their internal microphones directly into their heads. After the message was recieved, they nodded - in union - before once more turning to the diplomats.

One stepped forward, and bowed. "For your safety, we cannot afford to wait for any more diplomats. Enter into the vehicle in a responsible fashion one by one - do not worry, it is bigger on the inside. Quickly."

They stayed behind the diplomats, circling and slowly advancing so as to shunt them into the vehicle if they did not start moving. The vehicle itself unlocked, and the door opened - a sign for the diplomats to enter.

Indeed, the vehicle WAS larger on the inside. Entering into it, the diplomats would find themselves, not in the backseat as expected, but inside the door of a large stateroom, about twelve hundred feet in all. It was just a tiny bit strange, going from what was in all aspects just some paved and flattened dirt onto dark green plush carpeting and finished dark wood. The stateroom itself seemed to be decorated in a forested homely fashion - the walls were made of finished logs in a variety of types as well as polished mineral/stone sections, the furniture was a mix of wood and fabric upholstery, and there was in one section a large fireplace going, hot enough to make the diplomats feel warm but not enough to cause discomfort. Looking outsde the windows - for, yes, there were windows - revealed nothing about the craft they were on other than small peeks of wooden underneath and over that soon disappeared from view, but revealed a vast expanse of pine and redwood forest, with rivers ringing around and mountains on all sides. No signs of civilization could be seen - the only prescense being the very room they were in.

"Bigger on the inside" Nigel said as he got in and found a seat "Cool, How do you do the thing with the windows? Is it a projection?"

"I have to admit, it's pretty darn impressive, no matter how you look at it." Tajen said as he entered.

He hoped the New Amerikans realized he'd redirected the ship that was hurtling towards the planet in pieces into The Void, so that they didn't waste time targeting something that was no longer there, and did not exist any longer.

Dr. Quine seemed to wince at the idea of being called a diplomat-- after all, the three weren't exactly authorized to represent anyone, except maybe the Denniston Observatory. One would think that the Amerikans would have increased security, especially since the "long fog", and would have ID checks and retina scanners everywhere-- but those were the last thing on his mind when he stepped into the craft, inspecting the wooden interior and the wooded exterior. It reminded him of his youth in the Lambscott Alps, where transplanted cedars and redwoods surrounded the sleepy village of Ougawa. He never lived in a log cabin, but the color of the wood-- granted more brown than red-- made him feel welcome and at home. Yet the exterior still troubled him.

"Now, that forest's clearly faked, the shadows aren't quite long enough given the perspective."

"You'd be surprised what the Amerikans can do, Densen," said Dr. Jupin, taking his seat next to Nigel, eager to carry on the conversation. "So the Democratic Liberals haven't had much trouble keeping hold in Parliament? No signs of resurgence of the Imperialists or Workers?"

"Nope" Sir Nigel said "Not for want of trying though. Personally I can't understand it, I'd have thought SOMEONE better than me would have come along by now"

Dr. Jupin nodded. "Not even within the party? We've had several Ministry Council members replaced by members of their own party over the last couple of years-- but then again, Sommerwell simply fell out of favor with the Union of Diplomats and the International Relations Professors of Frenequesta and was ineligible for reelection, not that it mattered much since the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of the Economy were merged and Sommerwell had no economic training."
