The Imperial Senate has recently passed a resolution that was put forward by the High Emperor, over the annexation of the Inferno Islands, named so becuase of the large, extinct volcanos that dominate their landscape. They have long been a protectorate of the Empire, due to a small uprising of Communist forces in the area that dared to attack an Imperial vessel, a Pride-class Destroyer, the HMS Resolute. Swift and harsh military actions crushed the attack and then procceded to occupy the formerly independant island chain, consisting of five small to medium sized islands scpaed closely together, and just barely within the Imperial waters. With the occupation, the Communist movement was largely exterminated by special forces working in tagent with the local population. However, when the Island Parliament chose to become members of the Empire, the Communists have returned to the streets, attacking any goverment officals and Imperial forces in view. So far, over four hundred Islanders and a hundred and fifty Imperial forces have been killed, with much larger numbers wounded by the rebellion.
The 33rd Roaring Dragons, the premir special forces of the Empire, have been mobilized and are en route to the islands, parachuting over them in numbers of forty-five thousand. Meanwhile, the HMS Hand of God, main aircraft carrier of the Imperial fleet, has begun offshore bombardment of the known Communist strongholds, and a team of twelve Pride-class destroyers and Tiger-class frigates join the Aircraft carrier in her attacks on the rebel troops. The Emperor has denounced this violence from the Communists, and has proclaimed to protect the Islanders, now Imperial citizens, from this threat. The 11th, 90th, and 79th Imperial Marines are also planning to land in friendly territory to project force and prevent any further attacks. Their combined numbers total a hundred ninety-five thousand soldiers.
With such overwhelming force, the Second Communist uprising has been predicted to be over in a week.
