"This is Jonathan Arrag, XNN Correspondent," the reporter yelled over the roar of protesters behind him, "Only hours ago, the Xanicean Duma passed a law outlawing Lesbian, Gay, Bi, and Transsexual peoples from gaining citizenship in Xanicea. Those with citizenship have lost it, and many are now finding themselves aliens within their own country."
The cameraman zooms out from the reporter's face for a moment, capturing the angry crowd as they march through the capital's main street. The reporter looks back, silenced by the angry protests of the mob. As the camera zooms back in on the reporter's face, he turns back, looking pale.
"The bill, named the Xanicean Nationalities Protection Act, overturned decades of pro-homosexuality laws which were proposed by the current Premier, Ivan Vroronin," the reporter paused as he dodged several tomatoes being thrown at him by angry passerbys, "Premier Vroronin has stated that he will not allow the laws to pass, but the Duma has effectively shut him out, preventing him from entering their chambers. The vote, taken four hours ago, proceeded without him nor his cabinet presiding over the Duma Chambers. Premier Vroronin is live with us, back at the studio. Jim, it's all yours."
The camera shuts off, and XNN news switches feeds to their studio, where the Premier is sitting next to the head anchorman, James Watson.
"I'm James Watson, XNN anchorman," he turned to face the camera, "And with me today are the cabinet members of the Premier's office and the Premier himself. Tell me, what is your stance on the passing of this bill?"
"This is a blatant usurpation of my power as a Premier to oversee the Duma," Ivan frowned, "As far as I'm concerned, the law did not pass at all. Those protesters in the street have nothing to worry about - the Duma has not and cannot revoke their citizenship, nor can they target groups for revoking citizenship at all."
"Oh, is that so?" James looked on, interested, "Why not?"
"According to the Xanicean Constitution," Foreign Minister Pyotr Abramtsov cut in, "The Duma has no legislative power unless the Premier - or, one of us - is presiding over the session. Otherwise, anything they do is unofficial and does not pass into law."
"Who do you think is behind all this?" James asked.
"Personally, I believe my opponents in the Xanicea Black Coats Party are responsible for this disregard for law and order," Ivan spat, "It's no secret that they do not like me, nor Socialism in general, and I do not like them and their fascist ways. The only reason they even exist is because my cabinet and I agreed that disavowing them would be stooping to their level - would be restricting their freedoms, so to speak. So I allow them a little leash and they can have their way in the Duma... I never thought anyone would agree with them, however."
Just then, the camera pans out as someone can be heard yelling, "No! You're not allowed on the set while the Premier is being interviewed! Leave!"
Gunshots ring out.
"Ahh..." Ivan wheezes slightly before thudding to the ground as he is sprayed full of bullets from an off-screen assailant. The camera pans to the left, capturing a man wearing a black trench-coat. His hat bears the emblem of the Black Coats Party, and when he sees the camera pointing at him he quickly runs off.
"Lock down the studio, and make sure no one gets in or out!" one of the Premier's guards yells out, "Secure the cabinet! Go! Go! Go!"
The XNN news feed suddenly cuts out, replaced by a short message.
