As far as I know, the same STR that all 3 warriors have combined is what you increase by. If you're doing it that way, the War Elephant itself would be separate from the units mounting it, so you pay for 3 units in addition to the elephant, and their STR would simply be combined when you mount them. Alternatively, you could make your elephants like a regular cavalry unit, with the rider(s) and the mount being viewed as a package.

I was wondering, since I understand that pay increases STR which makes sense, as better soldiers get paid more, but with Zombies pay isn't an issue. I would propose instead of paying my minion skeletal soldiers perhaps the pay actually goes to the support necromancers (non combative ones) meaning I pay the necromancers more for that zombie so they make a better one with a more advanced spell. Game mechanic wise it is the same but contextually different. Is this ok?

Edit: also what is a good starting population?

I would argue that in that case, the PAY of the zombie is the resources needed by the necromancer instead. Again, contextual difference, so you can always RP that way without changing the numbers. Everyone, please remember that the numbers and the rules are not everything, other than a general guidelines to follow. So, yes, you can say the PAY is going somewhere else other than the unit, and yes, "iron" need not to be iron, and so on, so on.

About the map, actually half of that part is already claimed by Numer expansion, so you might not want to be there. I also advise against settling at the west coast of the eastern continent, since it is already quite crowded.

Sure. I would suggest settling at the eastern side of the eastern continent, for it is quite empty at the moment, thus you will have a lot of lands to expand into. :D

It would be a bit too small (around 4,500 px) to have that much population (you should have about a thousand, according to the rules), and it is only one forth of what you can claim initially anyway. I suggest you claiming a bit more to have additional population and income for that.

Okay, so the Terrain Size in the Ceaden calculator says px, meaning pixels I assume. But shouldn't it be sq miles?

Also, I have absolutely no idea what the convention is for coastline measurements. Doesn't it all depend how tightly you're gonna hug the coast? For example, England by many measurements has a longer coastline than California, but a less precise measurement (not taking into account all the little nooks England has) might make CA's coastline longer.

1px = 1 mi. or 1 sq. mi.

About the coastline measurement, I think we are not very precise there and, frankly, I don't mind much, so an approximate number is good enough.

It's slightly bigger than what you can have, so maybe you will want to not claim that island. However, I am fine with it actually.

In any case, your population would be 5,000*6=30,000. It will be 20,000 instead if you do not have the island, though.

Much appreciated. Thinking about it more, I feel like there is going to be some interesting politics within my nation, where they are unified by allegiance to the central Temple (still working on name) which also controls the majority of the dead's loyalty, but there are multiple houses vying for power that are rivals with each other. So far I have the

House of Undeath (Markus's House, Necromancers, Death knights, Lich Kings, Level headed and Fair minded),
House of Blood (Vampires, their slaves, familiars, the living and blood mages, Run the arenas, Watches over the living, Conservative and wishes to keep status quo),
House of Darkness (Death mages, Shades, Assassins)
House of the Caretakers (Caretakers who search and maintain the crypts and mausoleums, in addition to discovering and rebuilding the ruins of the old one's monuments and temples)
House of Rot (Plague mages, Abomination crafters, Expansionist, wishes to conquer all and convert everything to one flesh to serve their dark god)
House of Fire ( House of fire mages, Fire beasts, miners, and the smiths of Zelbae. Run and control all the mines and forges in Zelbae)
Guild of Collectors (Living hunters, who collect bodies, bones, objects, and the living to sell to the various houses and the Arena)
Guild of Magic (Collection of mages of all kinds in Zelbae who may be part of both the guild and their respective house or independent of any house.)

Agreed, though whiskey and rum aren't bad either.

Whiskey can be quite good, since Scotch is effectively a kind of Whiskey. I had not tried rum before, but I doubt I would like it much.

So one of the interesting things I'm now trying to develop is the class structure of my society. I know I want the Necromancers, and the Vampire lords to exist at the top of society as the nobles, and the mindless undead, slaves and workers to be at the bottom, though I'm now also trying to work in mages, skilled workers, merchants, knights, informers, spies, assassins, priests, vampires, and succubi exist in the social ladder. In the meantime I have worked out that I will have two forms of knights and two form of mounts. Being a heavily armored, but slow version with its mount being both an armored warhorse or a dragon, and a much more stealthy and swift shade night that has a warhorse or a flying drake mount. Basically the shades will be like LOTR nazgul and the Armour knights more like this http://ninjawolflord.deviantart.com/art/Rizen-chaos-champion-of-Tzeentch-280490922?q=favby%3Adbrought%2F49936429&qo=5

Dragons you say? Really costly to have you say? Well I plan to have a very small group of ultra elites, a slightly larger group of elites and another group of mages, and zombie cannon fodder.

I suppose you still need to build it. Perhaps it is a more centralised and designated place by the authority, other than the natural marketing place.
