Operation Red Devils--JSF (Closed)

Postby Western cuba » Thu Dec 08, 2011 2:13 pm

" Come on guys the CSF are getting impatient they can't leave before us! We need to get a move on. ", Juan began to walk towards the chopper. Adjusting the M-27 Adaptive Combat Sight on his TAG-34 Assault Rifle Juan hoped what laid ahead was good. This was the perfect mission to end his wonderful but irritating at the same time career in the JSF. This would be the way to avenge his wife's death.

Before hopping into the helicopter Lopez began an inspection on himself, making sure he had everything with him. He had his IOV Vest, his TAG-34 along with the Adaptive Combat Sight on it. He had his LY46 'Hellhammer' 50 cal. pistol, his combat knife, tactical binoculars...

He had all of his equipment all right but he had forgotten to say good bye to the most important thing to him in the world. His son Bobby. Multiple emotions soon filled Juan the moment he realized he had forgotten to goodbye to him. Anger, sadness, and worry began to fill the mind of Juan. Most people would of shrugged it off by now, but he wasn't an average person. He was a soldier. What if something happened to himself during the Operation. What if he was killed and never saw Bobby again.

Juan couldn't think that right now, that would distract him from the mission. He couldn't focus on forgetting to say bye to Bobby, the mission was the #1 priority right now. Stepping into the chopper Juan began to announce a last call to the soldiers of the JSF. Grabbing a microphone inside the helicopter Juan began to speak into it.

" Attention all soldiers of the JSF, the choppers are leaving in e.t.a one minute. We have no time to spare the CSF, Cuban Special Forces are an impatient bunch of fellows and won't take too kindly to us being late. They can't start heading out till we do. So I repeat last call for all soldiers involved in Operation Red Devils. "

Juan sat down as the engine of the chopper started, he was to do the briefing on the ride there to save time. The Western Cuban Government wanted this mission to be carried out as quickly as possible, for if not taken care of it risked the entire stability of the Republic.

"Let's give em' hell!" Almost ripping her gear from where it was stationed, Miroslava made a speedy route to the helicopter, AR in hand and gear by her side, ready to take down anything within a 500 meter radius and damn proud of it. turning through a few halls she found the white light of the outside and the heat given off by the sun pounded down on her form as she moved, she really should have been used to the climate by now, but one too many holidays between missions had meant that she was still a Novan at heart, and the bone-chilling cold was her true home.

Rushing into the helicopter meant that she was out of the awful sun glare, and back in some shade, the heat had far from subsided, but it did little to dampen her spirits as she threw on her gear in a haphazard manner, flipping on her ballistic vest while somehow slipping on her goggles and helmet at the same time inside, she was excited at the prospect of a decent mission, training with the JSF boys was all fun and that jazz, but a little variety couldn't really hurt her, especially when it was in the variety of live ammunition 'activities'.

Being thrown out of her tank and becoming another part of the Foot Force had thrown her a bit in the deep end, and while she still had the gears and switches of her old guns to perfect memory, she had started to get more at home on the ground, making up for the lack of guns with more than enough aggression with a rifle, or even her bare hands when it called for it.

Of course, the hours of waiting in a helicopter BEFORE the drop into a combat zone hadn't quite settled in yet...

They had been outside of the JSF base for a good amount of time now. Seemed like an half hour to be exact but he had no idea. Commotion had died down since leaving the base and everyone seemed to be more focused. Knowing this Juan decided that is would be a good idea to start the briefing now. Juan took the radio on his helicopter and began to speak into it.

" Attention soldiers, while we are quiet for the most part. Well at least on my helicopter we are. I ask that all of you quiet down for the next few minutes. For this is a very important part of Operation Red Devils. The briefing. While I apologize for the briefing being held on the helicopter and that some of you may nave trouble hearing it on you radios I ask that you be patient. Questions may be asked once we arrive at the Western Cuban Air Force Base. ", Juan took a pause, and a deep of breath and once more continued.

" Several years ago the nation of Western Cuba was lead under Vladimir Makarov II. Makarov II believed in communism, and the idea of a police state. He spread terror throughout his regime, and many died. The number is thought to be in the tens of millions but sadly may be more. Thankfully Makarov II regime as we all know came to an end. The countries of Reformed Britannia and the Matthew Islands liberated Western Cuba. Freeing it from the steel fist of the Makarov family. "

" Makarov was thought to be dead, we thought he was shot down by a Britannian ace trying to escape from his bunker in Szenoshal. But it looks like we are wrong. Several months ago armed militants stormed the residence of Adrian Soto, the President of the Republic of Western Cuba. Adrian barely got away with his life, and was badly wounded when his rescue helicopter was shot down. After looking at files left behind from the dead militants we have discovered that they had contact with Makarov, and were paid by him to do the assassination attempt. If the people were to find out Makarov was still alive well let's say things would turn pretty ugly. "

" Western Cuban informants, and recon aircraft have confirmed the presence of a terrorist camp in Yaz, Western Cuba. A village that was abandoned when it was destroyed during fighting in the Western Front during the Invasion of Western Cuba. It's been a hotbed for WCCP activity. The Western Cuban government wants us along with Cuban Special Forces to storm the camp, destroy it, and secure intel that could lead us to finding Vladimir Makarov II or his next move. Soldiers anything that you find in their that you think is of importance please grab it. For it can possibly change the stability of Western Cuba. "

" Now I have a few more words to say. First off I warning to any Britannians involved in this mission. While the WCCP hates all of us they have developed quite the hatred for you guys, not to mention the fact some of you might be veterans of the war and might have fought ib Yaz before. Once we arrive at the air force base I will not be angry at you if you decide to turn back and return to the JSF base. I understand that you might of developed some sort of PTSD over in Yaz, and that your safety if captured is much worse than the rest of us. However though once we leave the base and head towards Yaz there will be no turning back. "

" Now that I got that done with, lets end on a better note. Were getting close to the Western Cuban Air Base, we'll be landing in a matter of minutes. We'll have a bit of time to spend at the air base before we head out to Yaz so feel free to roam the base. Not to mention the mess hall is open to JSF soldiers so if you want to go and get a bite to eat before we go. It won't be my fault if you leave on an empty stomach. "

Juan shut off the radio and took a seat back down in the chopper. They were almost there at the base. Hopefully he would see some old friends he hadn't seen in a long time. Since the war ended he hadn't spend much time in Western Cuba, and it would be awesome to see some of his friends.

Scott was still hanging around the armory, trying to fit a sight onto a M-2 AAR as he heard the broadcast over the bases intercom. Stopping to turn and look at the speaker on the wall, he jumped into action at the realization of how much time he had. "Crap," he whispered, throwing the rifle over his shoulder by the strap, and hastily placing magazies in available pouches on his vest. He noticed Miroslava shouting and making her way out of the room ahead of him, aparantely having the fortune of preparing faster than he. Looking like a fool dashing around the room, Scott managed to find most of his useful basic supplies, which hadn't changed all that much during his time in the JSF. Clipping on his helmet and switching his M-2 to his right hand for comfort, he began sprinting out of the room, trying to make up for lost time.

Hitting the ground outside he eyed the helicopters, making the subconscious decision as to which one to climb inside of. He began to sweat, feeling the sun hitting his face, but it was a well missed feeling after their time in Novo Astova. On several occasions he swore that he still felt a chill in his bones for days after, but was now content with some warm, calm sunshine. Holding his helmet upon his head, he continued the run, seeing a spot open in the lead helicopter. Jumping inside he took his seat immediately, before looking around at the other occupants. "Sorry if I'm late," he said out of breath as he dropped his M-2's stock firmly on the ground, giving him something to lean on.

It wasn't long however until the helicopter's began lifting off, heading towards their destination. As time passed on, Scott leaned back and listened to Juan as he delivered the mission briefing some time into the flight. Watching the landscape pass by, he nodded slowly at the pieces fitting together, giving him a picture of the crisis in Western Cuba. It was a nation he was unfamiliar with, along with much of the information. As always he had his own moral check of the situation they were getting involved in, and this seemed like another worth fighting. He was glad to see the opressive rule was removed and freedom restored, and seemed as if this mission would help maintain the peace.

After sitting in the helicopter a bit more longer after giving the briefing they were finally arriving. Their first destination was St. Michael Air Force base, located a little over 40km away from the outskirts of Havana City. The capital of Western Cuba. They would meet up their with Cuban Special Forces, and then head out for their mission.

The helicopters began to decelerate with the runway being in clear sight. As they came to a stop Juan hopped out and took a few seconds to breath the fresh air in the surrounding area. The smell of the air brought joy to him. It showed that his country was truly changing. Back during the communist regime due to pollution, the sky was filled with smog and left a stench throughout the area. Gas masks had to be issued by the government since it was so bad. It was good to see the government actually cared about the general population.

Before heading towards the mess hall Juan addressed the rest of the JSF team. " Alright were here at our first destination, St. Michael Air Force base. Our stay here will be short so be ready to head out soon. If your hungry follow me to the mess hall, if not stay here at the choppers. After this will be heading out to Yaz so make sure you have everything. If you forgot something at the JSF base my comrades here will be glad to supply you with something. "

As Juan headed towards the mess hall he eyed a familiar fellow. One that he hadn't seen in too long. Smoking the cigar, the man was talking to a group of soldiers. He looked like he was a part of the CSF. (Cuban Special Force)

" Diego? ", Diego turned around and looked at Juan.

" Juan? Oh my it's been way too long. " The two walked to each other and gave each of them a hug. Diego and Juan had been best friends when they were kids, and both were shipped off to train with the military at a young age. They hadn't seen each other since they were assigned there army units at the age of 18.

" Juan I thought I would of never seen you again in my lifetime, come have a drink with me. "

Juan and Diego walked inside the mess hall with Diego both of them sitting at a table. Diego handed him a drink and the both began to talk.

" So Juan your in the JSF. How the hell do I not know this? Well actually how the hell have we not met up since the WCCP fell? "

" Well Diego I've been in the JSF since the WCCP was in power. I haven't left yet, after this mission I'm considering to retire. My uncle works with the government. I can get a good job from him. "

" Did you find......", Diego was quickly interrupted by Juan which he responded.

" Dead. ", Diego and Juan were referring to Juan's wife. Who was killed when Juan's wife and Bobby were taken hostage by WCCP local leaders after the government fell.

" Bobby is now living with me at the JSF base, I need to retire soon though. He can't grow up like that. It's not good for him. So Diego your with the CSF. "

" Why yes comrade, the government wanted my skill and experience and offered me a position as a leader in the CSF. In fact I'll be taking part in Operation Red Devils. In fact I'm in command of the CSF. "

" How ironic is that. My best friend who I haven't seen since I was 18 is now sitting here with me about to be my brother in arms once more. ", Juan finished his drink as he said that and noticed the time. He had to head back.

" I'll see you later during the mission Diego we need to get on the choppers. "

" Your right Juan, I should be organizing my men right now and heading out. I'm just so excited to see you. I'll be seeing you on the battlefield comrade. "

Juan got up from the table and prepared to head back towards the chopper. Where he announced to the rest of the JSF. " Alright guys were heading out. Make sure you got everything for their is no turning back. "

James had been getting ready. With that tropical jungle, he had packed some cargo trousers, along with a vest and buttoned shirt. Even though they weren't regulation, he had them specially made with the current JSF jungle camouflage. Over that, he had a plain ballistic vest, in a green camouflage. James had put a chest rig over it, sporting three large pouches for two hundred round magazines, and small pouch for three STANAG magazines, or six fifteen round 9mm magazines - packed two by three. He had also packed a small trauma kit and radio - if someone needed help, then he would be the first to know and respond. Checking his radio, he put his headphones on, and grabbed his FN-Minimi. Since the machine guns ordered from the Novan AME company hadn't arrived yet, he had bought his after a leave.

For his machine gun, he had put on a sling, collasping stock, a M145 machine gun optic, and a foregrip. With this, he also packed a bag with some basic rations, clothes, and medical equipment, along with a Model 10 SMG fitted with a Sentinel Holosight. As he finished packing his things, he slung the bag over his shoulder, and carried the machine gun over his shoulder, hand holding the stock, making his way to the helicopter. Soon after his arrival at the helicopter, he sat down, and checked his equipment, waiting for it to take off.

"At last, let's go stomp some heads!" It was a disorienting spiral of events, with little space between their trip to the mess hall, which couldn't have lasted more than a few minutes, and being dragged back out to the choppers, barely enough time to do anything herself, her hair was getting a bit loose from the band she had it tied back with; the stress of going from a near-dead state on the chopper, to being dragged about, finding her feet on the ground again after not moving them for what seemed like a decent amount of time.

Eventually, Laine was ready to head out again, feet moving like they were supposed to, and a mostly awake warrior inside her brimming with bloodied excitement at finally getting the chance to kill something, instead of sitting back at a base, as usual. Following whoever seemed like the best authority, she trooped on, trying to fix her hair again all the while.

Juan Lopez, JSF

After several minutes of final preparation the choppers began to head out. Yaz was an 30 minute ride, so they would have time to prepare for the attack. Because of the time Juan decided that he should use it to his value. Therefore he began to clean his TAG-34. He didn't want to take the chance of the gun jamming in combat. He normally wasn't afraid of death. After all he is a soldier, but this mission was different. He hoped it to be his last, and for some reason it still bothered him he forgot to say bye to his son. Not just that he might die, but it seemed like bad parenting. Well having your son grow up in a military base without a mother didn't help it. Juan sighed as he finished up cleaning his gun. They were almost there. In several minutes he would most likely be in combat firing 6.5x52mm Mannlicher-Carcano rounds at the enemy, and saving his country from the threat of Vladimir Makarov II.

Colonel Vadim Kosov, WCCP

" The enemy will be here soon, prepare for battle. We must not let Yaz fall once again to the Imperialists!, " shouted Vadim Kosov. Kosov was leader of the battalion of 1,200 soldiers at Yaz Base. One of the last strongholds of the WCCP outside of Vladgrad City. Which was a massive shit hole. He was glad that Makarov II stationed him here in Yaz. The only thing that stank though was what the informant told him last week.

An informant in the Cuban Special Force had alerted Kosov of an special op attack on Yaz, and he made sure his men were ready to defend it. 2 Pantsir-S1's and 2 ZSU-57-2's were stationed in Yaz and men were stationed in them at all times. In the 8 guard towers around the camp, sirens were equipped to alert the base to an attack. They were ready, and they would fight to death. Soon the Second Battle of Yaz would begin and chaos would erupt all across the base.

Scott watched the ground get ever closer as the helicopters touched down upon St. Michael Air Force base. As the rotors began to die down and others climbed out he followed, gathering his bearings as his feet planted up against the earth beneath. In front of him, Juan was addressing the other JSF members, stressing they were short on time. He took the hint and headed towards the mess hall, where he tried to throw down a quick and light meal. Standing as he ate, he attempted to look over his gear, making sure he was ready to go. It was a scramble of events, as he almost stabbed through the paper plate with his fork on the rush. Looking over his predominatantly green colors, he felt ready, knowing everything he should need on the mission was on his body.

Seeing the others moving towards the helicopters, he dropped his empty plate into the nearest trashcan and took a small drink from his canteen as he walked towards the team. Pulling his jungle colored boonie hat from his pocket he placed it on his head, shielding his eyes from the sun. Stepping aboard the helicopter Juan was already seated in, he stayed towards the door to keep a good view of the outside. He leaned his head back up against the seat, trying to relax a little and keep his nerves down before the operation began. Unintentionally falling asleep, he was shuddered awake by the starting of the helicopters motors, causing him to sit up quickly. Looking around, they began to slowly lift off of the ground, and it wasn't long before the air base was falling into the distance.

Now all that was left to do was enjoy the last few minutes of relaxation before they reached Yaz. Scott was certainly willing to wait, and wanted to savor every minute of the trip.

Juan Lopez, JSF

As they neared Yaz, Juan began to kneel down and began to pray. He prayed for the safety of his comrades, himself, and for his son. Juan was stopped midway through his pray though by the sound of gun fire. 30mm autocannons began to fire out of the forest and into the skies where the helicopters of the JSF and the CSF flew. Juan realized that they had to hit the ground quickly. He quickly contacted Diego by radio.

" Diego we need to get the ground quickly. Those 30mm guns will tear up our helicopters. While it won't be our designated landing zone it's better than taking high casualties. "

" Rodger, Juan we'll meet up with your forces on the ground. Good luck. "

As Diego finished up his transmission a CSF helicopter was shot out of the sky. Slowly going down and crashing into the forest below. The crash site erupted in flames. It seemed impossible that anyone got out alive. The thought of the soldiers if they were still alive slowly burning to death bothered Juan but he knew he needed to keep himself in check. " Alright we'll be landing early, the enemy knows were here. Be ready to rappel down to the forest ground. "

Juan got up as he finished his statement and began to rappel towards the forest ground. Well it was sort of a forest. Half the trees were dead from shells, topsoil was blown of in several areas, and you occasionally could find bone fragments of dead soldiers from the First Battle of Yaz. The WCCP never got to bury their dead so the corpses sat and slowly rotted after the battle. Juan waited for the rest of the team to rappel down before he set out towards Diego's position.

Colonel Vadim Kosov, WCCP

The sounds of a helicopter crash in the distance pleased Kosov. " The enemy is near and is already taking casualties. This makes me a happy man, " muttered Kosov to one of the surrounding soldiers near him. Looking at the sky, seeing smoke in the distance. (From the fire of the helicopter) Kosov grinned in amusement and lit a cigar. One of the officers at the camp approached Kosov asking for commands.

" Colonel Kosov. Requesting permission to engage the enemy in the forest. "

" That is a negative soldier. We shall wait for the enemy to approach us. We can not risk unnecessary casualties attacking the enemy. Have your men stationed inside the base at all times. If anyone leaves the base they will be shot unless given permission by me and only me. "

Kosov began to over to the command center as the officer walked away. He would stay their for the entire battle unless he had to escape. In which he had a Mi-8 reserved for him and two Mil Mi-28 attack helicopters to escort him.

"Surely that's damn common knowledge! If they all know we're here, this mission's a botch anyway." taking out one of the cords early on, she'd already gotten to fixing it around herself, throwing her coil out the side of the transport, she leapt down it without much difficulty, sliding down most of the way before something gave way, tumbling the rest of the distance to the ground wasn't too painful, but the rope that crashed down on her head gave her a fair concussion.

Through blurry eyes, she thought she saw the rope smoking a little, perhaps someone got a lucky shot in, possibly a tracer round, she hadn't had the time to look up when it happened. Stuck in a dead forest, with ruined ground that resembled the aftermath of incendiary rounds pounding the place for what could have been days long, she rolled over from her chest to her back, and dug out a glow-stick from her breast pocket, an audible snapping sound the only confirmation that the chemicals inside were active, her eyes weren't doing too well from that hit, even if the helmet had taken a fair deal of the impact away from her skull.

Allowing a fierce hiss to escape her mouth, she finally bought her hands up to inspect her head; with her helmet strapped on in a manner that her shaking hands couldn't fathom opening, it was much more like she was inspecting the helmet, but seeing as there didn't seem to be much of a deformity, she was happy enough that she wasn't in a fatal condition. She relaxed her body and waited for her head to clear, a ringing started to pierce into her ears, as a new wave of pain washed over her head.

Leaning forward to peer outside, Scott saw the Cuban helicopter turn into the forest below, followed by a spew of fire. "Damn," he whispered to himself, which was barely audible due to the gunfire and other sounds of battle occuring around them. As the helicopter leveled out and slowed, Scott moved towards the side, and hooked himself up to repel downwards. Sitting on the edge and securing his gloves over his hands, he held onto the rope for dear life as he pushed himself off. Guiding himself with both hands and boots, he carefully slid towards the ground, finally feeling the dirt give beneath his feet. Letting go of the rope he began a light jog while crouched over, as he removed his rifle from his back. Heading for a large fallen tree, he kneeled down beside it, allowing himself to face the direction of Yaz. The anti-aircraft fire was still very obvious overhead, but from his position there seemed to be little fighting from within the forest.

Turning around to check the rest of the team leaving the helicopter, Scott noticed Laine lying on her back, clutching her head. Fearing that someone was wounded so early in the operation, he gave a quick look around before leaving the cover of the fallen tree. Holding his rifle across his chest he jogged over towards the Novan's position and knelt down beside her.

"Are you okay!?" Scott shouted over the noise of the helicopter, while giving Laine a quick look, before pointing his rifle back towards the general direction of Yaz.

James had stopped for some quick food. Finishing it, he had followed Scott to the bin and dumped it in. Taking some water from his canteen, he checked his weapons were clean, loaded, and ready for use before going to the helicopter. His FN Minimi had a little dirt in it, however some quick fixing with a shemagh that James had packed earlier with his clothes had wiped it clean. Once he was in the helicopter, he had taken the time to make sure that his ammunition was in check.

The few minutes that he had had proven useful - with the rushing, some of the rounds in the chains had come loose. If James were to have fired them in his machine gun, his gun would have jammed. After fixing that, the explosion of the hit helicopter had lifted James from his trance to fix the ammunition. Dropping his machine gun, he looked at the men inside the helicopter and put his headphones on. "Checking mike, 1-2." He said, lifting his gun from the ground. As Laine and Scott rappelled down, he slung his machine gun over his chest and bag, and then started to climb down. Feeling a few rounds fly past him, he closed his eyes and let go of the rope for a second - well, he hoped for a second. Scrambling for the rope again, he caught the coil and held on.

Since he had let go of the rope, he hadn't calculated how far he had fallen down. Too many rounds were flying past - he couldn't capture the height from the ground. Slowly climbing down, he felt the last of the rope hit the ground, and wiped his eyes. "Fuck, should have worn goggles." He called out, wiping his eyes and grabbing his gun. He had heard someone hit the ground hard - he never saw who. "Who's hit hard? I need a name!" He radioed, tugging the rope.

"Agh..." She couldn't articulate much, but there was something covering the light, and something by her arm, she motioned her best to where she thought the nearest cover was, being on the ground, in pain, in the open, wasn't the best idea, and it wasn't that good a plan for anything other than her own demise, that concussion wasn't going to clear immediately, either. Through a haze of pain she tried to make something out, but focusing just made her head reel more and more, she closed her eyes and tried to deal with it as best she could, but it didn't work too well.

Of course it had to happen to her when she was ready for anything but a complete disaster, it would be too convenient otherwise. She could just about think to herself, and how much she hated that fall, her memory cleared enough to know that the cord hit her full force when she was most of the way down, the lack of broken legs agreed happily, that was a start, even if her ankles felt like an obese elephant just took a seat on them.

As Scott was carefully eyeing the forest in front of him, he anxiously awaited a response from Laine. As he knelt down he heard no response, and looked towards his fellow soldier beside him. Hearing her let out a small grunt, she was pointing somewhere, and Scott knew she was having trouble orienting herself. He knew she needed to be moved, and lucky enough he heard James' voice come over the radio. Adjusting his mouth-piece he quickly responded.

"It's Laine!" Scott said, looking around for James' position. They were in the open and needed to change that, fast. About 30 meters to the right of Laine was a boulder, which would offer sufficient cover. "I'm moving her, positioning behind the large rock to the right side of the helicopter." As he spoke he placed his hands underneath Laine's shoulders, getting ready to drag her to cover. The necessity to find cover outweighed his concern of possible injury by moving her. The lack of blood and aparent external injury, but dazed reaction, allowed Scott to assume she had taken some sort of head trauma. Shuffling his feet backwards he moved them ever closer to the rock until they were secured behind cover. Gently lowering her shoulders he let Laine lie back down before he stood up, trying to signal their position to the rest of the team.

James was being blinded from the dirt and debris being spewed from the force of the rotors of the helicopter. "Shit!" He said, wiping his face. He put his shemagh over the bottom half of his face, forming an effective mask. Rushing over to where Scott was, he knelt on one knee and looked at him. "Any visual injuries? How did she land on the ground?" He asked Scott, dropping his pack and setting down his gun. "We need to make sure this area is properly secure!" He radioed to Juan. They couldn't lose this area - if Laine was down, then they needed to make sure she could either go on, or get evacuated back to base.

Still remaining near Laine, Scott was glad to see James arrive. Moving out of the way to allow the other to get a better look, Scott took a light glance out from the side of the large boulder, making sure the forest was still visibly empty. Feeling somewhat confident enough with the quick glance, he shifted his body to look back towards James while letting his rifle fall across his body.

"I didn't see shit!" Scott shouted back towards James, trying to figure out what happened. He remained leaning against the rock, allowing him to constantly make quick views of the forest in front of them. One was enough to directly take care of Laine at the moment, and there was no reason to crowd the situation, so he might as well make sure no one snuck up on them. "I couldn't see any injuries but she was acting like she took a serious hit to the head, that's all I could tell you!" Looking back up towards the helicopter, Scott knew the rest had to get down to the ground quickly. The helicopter was attracting too much attention, but if Laine had to be evacuated it at least had to remain nearby. The forest was still clear, but that had the potential to change at any moment.

Juan Lopez, JSF

They were only minutes into the mission and chaos had erupted. Laine had apparently taken some sort of injury. Possible brain trauma. Juan knew they had to get Laine quickly out of the area but how? Enemy AA was located all throughout the area it seemed. If they had a helicopter evac Laine it would most likely get shot down. Not only killing Laine but the crew in the helicopter itself. Knowing this Juan radioed James who had radioed him. " James I need you to listen to me. The area is crawling with enemy AA. Evacuating Laine right now would only make matters worse and more people would lose their lives. I'm about 50m from your position, and heading towards you right now. In order to evac Laine safely we need to destroy the enemy AA. From my position it looks like their are three AA guns firing in the area. Half of the JSF will stay behind to protect Laine, while the other half will go target the enemy AA. I'm going to radio the CSF to destroy the other two. I'll see you in a few. "

With that Juan quickly changed the channel and contacted Diego. " Diego things have turned to shit. One of our operatives appeared to suffer some sort of brain damage when rappelling down from the helicopters. We need to evac her quickly for medical treatment but enemy AA are making that not possible. I need to have you and the rest of the CSF to destroy the two AA guns nearest to your position. Half of the JSF will attack the other one. "

After a few seconds of silence Diego responded. " Alright comrade my forces are heading towards the AA guns. Some of the area is bobby trapped still from the First Battle of Yaz. Mines, bear traps, e.t.c lay all around. Not to mention enemy soldiers. We'll probably meet less resistance due to the AA guns being foolishly being placed farther away from the main enemy base but lets take that to our advantage. Diego out. "

With that being done Juan quickly headed over to rendezvous with James and the rest of the JSF. After arriving he began to address everyone. " Alright lesson up. Half of us are going to stay behind to protect Laine from the enemy while the other half are going to come with me to destroy some enemy AA which needs to be destroyed in order to evac Laine safely out of the area. I'll be heading out now so whoever wants to follow me do so. "

"Ugh..." Just about gripping reality enough to see somewhat straight, Laine propped herself up and picked her rifle up, leaning her back against the boulder before half-slamming the stock into the ground between her legs, assuming a sitting position. The shock was giving way to what could only be described as one of the worst hangovers that she'd ever had, and that thought gave way to some memories about her Novan service; Rifling in her breast pocket where she kept the glow-sticks from before, she produced a little foil wrapper with some small pills, individually packeted.

"J-Just give it some... time" Popping one of the pills, then another after some consideration, she pocketed the wrapper and pulled back the charging handle of her rifle, swinging it back to her shoulder. Slowly and rather clumsily setting herself into a kneeling position that faced the boulder, she prepared for some kind of move, though she wasn't expecting too much from her violently protesting body right now. Occasionally, her elbow, or some other feature around her upper body would twitch; and it was some effort to keep her forward knee from bobbing up and down rapidly.

"Wh-... When this is... is over, I'm t-taking their damn heads..." Through gritted teeth, she waited to see if those pills would do anything for her aching body, among other issues that she was being faced with right now, she would have given anything to have ridden in on a tank like she used to do, but this wasn't time to moan, even if the shift in elevation had her head spinning a little.

Scott watched as Juan rushed over, and properly updated their situation. "I'll come with you," he volunteered while lightly pushing himself off of the rock. He didn't particularly care for sitting around the landing site, and going after the AA was a sure way to make some solid progress. Kneeling on the ground to check his gear, Scott saw Laine began to stand and steady herself. Though he honored her will to press on, he saw it as a questionable decision. Dragging a team member along could slow their progress and pose a risk to the rest of them, though the call on extraction fell on Juan. Taking his hands off of his gear and holding his rifle over his knee, Scott looked over towards the Cuban JSF operative. "I'm ready when you are," he said confidently.

Juan nodded towards Scott and began to head towards the enemy AA when he noticed Laine attempting to recover. She managed to get herself on two feet but still looked quite confused and dizzy. Juan didn't know whether or not to let Laine continue with the mission. Therefore he would let Laine decide on that matter in which he approached her.

" Laine no lie, we all know it you know it. You look like shit, in my opinion you don't seem ready to continue on with the mission and should stay back and wait for evac. However though I'm not your commander and have no decision over your continuation of the mission. Therefore the decision is in your hands. If you feel ready follow me towards the enemy AA, I recommend that you stay behind but I highly doubt you'll listen to me. Good luck in what ever you decide to do. "

Juan gripped his gun and headed off towards the enemy AA. They were relatively close. With the muzzle flash of the guns being seen in the distance. Within several seconds of heading out towards the enemy objective, resistance was soon encountered. Several enemy squads of the WCCP were defending the enemy AA position. Taking brief glances while taking cover behind a large rock Juan observed what seemed four enemy squads defending the enemy AA. One of them occupying a light machine gun. Juan quickly began to fire his rifle hitting a WCCP soldier in the back, wounding but not killing him. As Juan fired his first shots Diego radioed in that he reached the other two enemy AA's positions.

Diego and the CSF began to take cover as the enemy began resisting their attempt in taking two of the enemy AA guns. The CSF had divided into three groups. One staying back for the wounded, just as the JSF had done. The other two's current objective was to take the AA guns. Diego aimed his AY144L Advanced Assault Rifle and fired it. Taking out a WCCP soldier. They soon began to run the enemy WCCP out of the area. With the enemy threat nearly being removed from the enemy AA Diego was attacking and the other CSF group had wiped out half of the other men defending the other AA gun. However though Diego had no idea on the situation with the JSF and how well they were doing.

Even though the WCCP soldiers defending the AA guns from CSF tried desperately to defend the enemy AA guns from destruction they were being overwhelmed. The one AA gun farthest out from the main base in Yaz was almost occupied. Only one squad remainined. With their squad leader dead however those troops began to retreat back to the base leaving the one gun defenseless. The area around the middle AA gun was slowly being occupied but the WCCP their continued to resist. The position on the right side though which the JSF was attacking continued to remain strong. Fighting fiercely with minor casualties so far. However though it was inevitable that the AA guns were to fall. Every soldier defending Yaz knew it. They quickly prepped for the defense on the main base. Which would see combat soon enough.

After several minutes of fierce fighting all of the AA guns fell from WCCP clutches. Giving the way for CSF helicopters to come pick up the wounded JSF and CSF soldiers. Now that the AA guns were eliminated the next task was to attack the main base itself. Which was located a few hundred meters outside of where the AA guns were located. However unlike the open spots of jungle the JSF and CSF have fought in so far the area they were now located in consisted of jungle and old partially destroyed buildings from the First Battle of Yaz. Close Quarter Combat would soon take place throughout the battle.

Juan made sure the shotgun attachment on his gun was operating right and wasn't jammed. Juan turned over to Scott. " This should be quite handy. Be on the look out for hiding spots if you approach and enter any buildings. The WCCP aren't afraid of dying. " Juan paused for a second and continued. " Now that the AA guns are gone our objective is to enter the control room of the base, secure all possible intel and if we can secure the base. I highly doubt that will happen though. Our orders however though are if we fail to secure the base we are to destroy it. The Cuban government doesn't want the WCCP to be able to come back here and establish a base her once more. Now in a matter of hours I want these son of bitches running cowardly back to Vladgrad City alright! Let's head out.

As soon as Juan was finished he began to head out approaching the WCCP main base with Diego and his soldiers close behind them.

The AA guns were lost but not the battle, the WCCP was determined to fight on. Several squads formed up on the main entrance to the base which the JSF was approaching. It consisted of two buildings. An two story building located on the left side of the road, and a toll booth. Which basically served as a checkpoint for the WCCP. The WCCP had one LMG located in the two story building. In the middle window of the building. Three soldiers stood station at it. Two to suppress fire and to help protect the machine gunner. Which was the other man.

Sandbags and debris were placed on the road to be used as cover for the WCCP who began to fire at the approaching JSF and CSF soldiers.

James had been fishing through his trauma pack when he saw Laine take some pills. "Laine, Laine! What are those? What did you take?" He asked, trying to take the pills off of her. If she had taken something that he hadn't seen before, then he'd need to get some information on what it was for, and why she'd decided to take it in the middle of the battlefield. Unfortunately, Laine's situation wasn't in the best of times. "Laine, look at me - I need you to tell me what these pills are. You can't go anywhere until you do."

"Erryone' shaddup... 'mmkay? Imma do this" Laine found it was much easier to speak if she wasn't trying to pronounce every syllable, considering it just about enough to be heard. grabbing a rock with her left hand, she let her Rifle hang behind her as she rose slowly, against whoever was rather desperately asking her questions. The twitches had slowly begun to lessen in intensity, but occasionally she would loosen herself out a bit, or make the odd movement.

"These'r th' closes- things ta painkill'rs I got" She pulled out an unopened foil wrapper and dropped it where she hoped the soldier's hands were; stamped with a stencilled Novan military insignia, it had some instructions on the back, and a chemical list. The pills weren't optimised for head trauma, or even any kind of trauma, looking at the printed instructions, but it had some useful components: a decently powerful numbing agent and some light entactogens to boost the mood of whoever took it. Being Infantry issue, these weren't exactly designed for vehicle operation, so she wasn't familiar with how many to take - She took double the amount she was supposed to. Being overdosed didn't seem to be inhibiting her too much, and it seemed to be effective at its intended job so far.

"ya know... this is a pretty place, we should vis't some time in th' future" She didn't know why, but the ruined soil and dead trees lying around everywhere actually looked quite stunning to her right now, the display of what looked like a full colour spectrum worth of brown and black shades was almost soothing to her at the moment.

"Anyway... le's go kill some of em' over there, I can st'll shoot"

Scott took off and followed Juan towards the AA site. It wasn't long before their objectives were secured and the fighting began to die down, allowing the CSF helicopters extra breathing room. Reloading his rifle and double checking his equipment, his gave a quick thought about how the rest of the team was holding up back where they landed. Listening to Juan beside him, Scott kept his eyes on the former anti-aircraft positions, as if he expected something to happen. "Thanks for the tip," he said while putting both hands on his rifle and securing it over the front of his body. "I'll follow close." Keeping right behind Juan, Scott kept his rifle at the ready, waiting to come upon the WCCP base. Confidence was building, as the mission was beginning a solid turn around. Even though the start was shaky, the AA sites went down quickly, which would hopefully start a trend.
