The Sword of Justice (FT Closed)

Jannarii warships were nothing new in the space around Arcturus VII, and ever since the gate was placed in orbit they were an increasingly common sight. Today, however, there was an extraordinarily large formation of Jannarii ships gathering in orbit. Eighty six ships in total, consisting of four battleships, four carriers, ten cruisers, and sixty eight destroyers, had just arrived and aligned into a tight formation.

"Captain Douglas, all ships are reporting in as ready for departure." reported the communications officer from his console on the starboard side of the bridge.

"Good. Inform the fleet that we'll be departing in sixty seconds." replied the captain.

"Aye, sir. Message sent." said the communications officer as he hit the enter key.

"Excellent. Alert the crew to prepare for the transition into hyperspace." said Captain Douglas as he sat back and lit a cigar.

While the intercoms of all of the gathered ships blared with the warning, the fleet began to accelerate. When the sixty seconds were up the fleet dissapeared in a flash, screaming towards their target at speeds well in excess of the speed of light.

It took just over a week for the Jannarii fleet to cross the more than fourteen thousand lightyears between Arcturus and the Terran system. Most of that time was spent double and triple checking the assorted weapons and defensive systems, ensuring that the fighters and mobile suits were in prime working order, and making sure that the crew would be in top shape for combat when they arrived.

When they neared their target, all eighty six ships began preparing for combat. General quarters was sounded in each ship and the crews quickly retrieved and donned their armored space suits and sidearms before hurrying to their battlestations. The fighter and mobile suit pilots did the same, each one climbing into the cockpit of their war machine. The marines lined up in the hangars of their ships near their shuttles before marching in and taking their seats along the sides of the holds, followed soon after by support vehicles in the larger shuttles. While all this was going on, the ventilation systems were working in reverse, pumping the atmospheres of the ships into heavily armored storage tanks deep within the interiors of the ships in order to prevent explosive decompression and loss of atmosphere in the event of a hull breech.

Shortly after the ships finished their combat preparations, the Jannarii fleet exited FTL roughly half an AU from the primary planet in the Terran system.

"Admiral, we've arrived." said Captain Douglas from the bridge of the battleship Aelil.

"Good. I doubt that the locals have noticed us arrive just yet. We should have a good four minutes at least." replied Admiral Hightower.

"Your orders, sir?" asked the captain.

"Proceed towards the planet. I'll send them a hello." he replied.

This is Admiral Robert Hightower of the Jannarii Navy. You should get this message shortly after noticing us on your passive scanners. I am here to negotiate a settlement regarding your recent actions at Sol. We will be proceeding towards your planet to meet you. I suggest powering down your weapons and defenses and sending your top government officials to meet with me on this battleship."

"Unknown Fleet has entered the Terran System."Said one of the Sensor operators to Grand Admiral Tim Kellan Commander of the Terran System SkyWatch which defended all 24 worlds in the Terran System."Sir, They have sent a hail regarding the actions of the Rogue Lord-Castellan demanding that we send some of our government officials to meet with them on there flagship and also to power down our weapons and shields, Sir."said the Comms officer."Tell them that Governor-General Danial Sver will be shuttled over to there flag ship to negotiate with this people." said The Grand-Admiral, and then thought for a moment this had all started when the Lord-Castellan had demanded a Fleet be sent to the Sol System and then taken the Entire Talus Fleet against the Will of the Commonwealth High Security Council. What had that moron done?

"Admiral, they're replying that a 'Governor-General Danial Sver' will be shuttled over." reported the Aelil's communications officer when the message arrived.

"I haven't detected any drop in the power levels of the weapons and defenses that I can see yet." added the sensors officer.

"I see. Instruct the shuttle to approach from our port side with weapons and shields are offline." replied the admiral as he walked back to the communications console.

I am glad to see that you are willing to negotiate, however I must insist that your weapons and defenses be taken offline so as to ensure that this will not become something that both sides will regret."

Planet: New Minnesota, Terran System. Date: Feb. 14th, 2895. Skywatch Defense Platform: CWS Tim Paul

"To all Skywatch forces, lower your weapons, but keep Shields at max." said Grand-Admiral Tim Kellan, He looked on at this Fleet who had entered the Terran System acting all big and bad. Demanding that the Commonwealth negotiate for something it had nothing to do with in the Sol System, he couldn't help but wonder what the hell the Rogue Lord-Castellan had done. He then sent a message to this fleet saying,"The Govoner-General's shuttle is on its way to your flag ship, but if you so much as make a move towards any of the 24 planets of the Terran System, we will open fire. I will not allow you to put Commonwealth Citizens lives in danger because of some war we know nothing about."

Commonwealth Diplomatic Shuttle: CWS Spirit of Sol, Carrying the Governor-General of The Commonwealth.

"This Commonwealth Diplomatic Shuttle: CWS Spirit of Sol requesting docking permission"Said Captain John "Black Jack" Gear, The Commonwealth's most highly decorated Strikecraft pilot, with over 656 enemy kills to his name. In the back of the shuttle was Governor-General Danial Sver, a decedent of some of the greatest heroes of the Commonwealth. A handsome young man, that was in his late 20's. He had made a name for himself during the Tul System Blitz by holding off wave after wave of Pirate Troops that had come to take the System from the Commonwealth nearly 8 years before. Soon after he was awarded with the Title "Hero of The Commonwealth" and entered politics soon after. All he could do now is wonder what had the Lord-Castellan done in the Home System and what would it do to the Commonwealth.

Admiral Hightower was begining to lose patience with the locals when he read their reply. Lighting up a cigar, he sent another message to them.

I don't think you understand. By refusing to abide by my request and threatening to fire, you are the one putting your civilians in danger. You have little chance of matching this force in combat, so I will suggest that you do as you're told before somebody gets hurt.

The shuttle was sent permission to dock in the port hangar, and as a result the port hangar's rear doors opened. When the shuttle landed, the pilot and governor-general could see fighters, attackers, mobile suits, and shuttles lined up and ready to launch. They would also notice that they were surrounded by heavily armed infantry.

Governor-General Danial Sver stepped off the ramp of the shuttle to find themselves surrounded by heavily armed Infantry and muttered,"quite the welcoming committee." and said louder,"I am Governor-General Danial Sver of the Terran Commonwealth." and sat there waiting for a response from the soldier that were surrounding him.

When he stepped off the ramp, he would notice two important things. The first was that there was no gravity. The second, and much more important, is that there was no air. Hopefuly the Governor-General was wearing some sort of space suit.

Regardless, he would be greeted by the lieutenant in charge of the platoon that surrounded him. Placing his hand on the Governor-General's shoulder, the lieutenant's suit transmitted his voice directly into the bureaucrat's head via vibrations through his skeleton. "Governor-General, come with us. The admiral is expecting you."

The lieutenant and a squad of marines escorted their guest through the airless passages, their magnetic boots allowing them to walk normally. After traveling up several ladders, they eventually reached the bridge. Admiral Hightower was standing near the window next to Captain Douglas, and turned to greet the new arrival. After escorting the Governor-General into the conference room and closing the bulkhead, the Jannarii admiral hit a few buttons on a keypad next to the door.

A loud roar filled the conference room as air rushed into it. Within a minute, there was enough atmosphere in the room for the Jannarii admiral to remove his helmet. He waited for his guest to do the same.

"Governor, I am Admiral Hightower of the Jannarii Navy. As I'm quite sure you're aware, your military attacked a diplomatic meeting in Sol recently, going so far as to attempt to destroy the entire system with a singularity bomb. This is a very serious transgression, Governor, and I have seen many nations become footnotes in history books for less. We are here to see to it that justice is served." he explained.

The Governor-General looked at him with a questioning look and responded with,"What in the name of hell do you mean, One our fleets attempted to singularity bomb Sol? There have been no Commonwealth Ships in the Orion Arm of the Galaxy in over 850 years."Then he sat there for a moment and asked,"What was the Fleet commanders name?"

"Your petty attempt to sidestep responsibility is not going to help your case, Governor." replied the Jannarii admiral as he activated the monitors on the wall. Video feeds collected by the cruiser Richwood and allied Kilrany and Dersconi vessels began to play, clearly showing Commonwealth vessels attacking the Tocrowkian and visiting warships. "These vessels match vessels that our patrols have recorded entering and exiting this system on a regular basis."

"My records indicate that Commodores Griggs and Alexander as well as a Lord Castellan were in command of this stunt." he continued.

"So the fool went and did it then."Said Danial Sver in a low voice and then said,"Admiral I am not sidestepping response ability. I am telling you the truth, that no Commonwealth Warship has been near Sol in over 850 years, but if you are willing to listen to me for a moment instead of acting all high and mighty I will explain."

"I would suggest that you explain quickly, because the longer these negotiations last the less chance there will be for a peaceful resolution." replied the admiral, his patience waning.

"Of course, Admiral." said Daniel and reached in to his pocket and pulled out a halo projector and played its contents."It was a Historical Holo showing the Commonwealth Civil War which had been fought over 20 years ago between the Forces under the Command of the Rogue Lord-Castellan Derek Landerson and the Loyalist Commonwealth Forces under then Governor-General Peter Ginsburg. It went on to explain the war as they watched.After the last major battle of the War the Rogue Lord-Castellan managed to steal the Tulas Fleet and set off to Sol in search of the homeworld to reclaim it form the scum that must inhabited it now." The Governor-General turned to the Admiral and said,"As you have just seen, we are not responsible for what you claimed happened at Sol.For all I know is this is a bluff to force us to your will and I can tell you that will not work, for the IRON Alliance seems interested in expanding its Territory in this region of space. We could go to them for help."

"A likely story." replied Admiral Hightower. "However, if you feel that IRON could protect you from retribution for the attempted atrocities carried out by your forces, you are sorely mistaken. By the time any IRON force could be assembled and reach this part of space all of your planets would be burned out husks and we would be long gone. You are gambling with many lives here, Governor. We are not the only nation that is seeking justice for the stunt at Sol, and most of them wouldn't have bothered to negotiate for a peaceful solution. Quite frankly, the only chance your people have to survive is to submit to Jannarii authority and make amends with the wronged parties under our guidance and protection."

"Admiral, you don't seem to get it. What does the Commonwealth have to gain by randomly attack Sol and why in the name of hell would I order billions of people to there death by destroying a solar system on the other side of the goddamn galaxy? What in the hell is there to gain from that?" yelled the Governor-General in his rage,"And you come here threatening to wipe us out, if we don't give in to your demands which will be like the Treaty of Versailles for some crime we did not commit." he paused and then said" Admiral, I am going to tell you this right now, you think you can come in here and threaten me in my home system and threaten to commit genocide just because you think your all high and goddamn mighty? What makes you any different from the Rogue Lord-Castellan and what you claim he tried to do to Sol?"

"I am not here to debate motives, Governor. I am here to see that justice is administered for the thousands of lives taken and untold billions threatened with annihilation so pointlessly by your nation during the attack on Sol, and if possible prevent your civilization from being wiped out in retribution." stated the admiral, raising his voice. "The difference between what your lord did and what I am doing is that I have justice on my side and I am not attempting to snuff out hundreds of billions of lives over a thousand year old squabble. I suggest that you stop bitching and start working with me or you're going to be the governor of exactly two things, buddy. Jack and shit, and Jack left on the last shuttle out of here."

"Admiral, you know nothing of Commonwealth Politics and I am going to tell you this the Lord-Castellan is not my "lord" he is rather the Supreme Commander of the Commonwealth Military, well the Governor-General is the Leader of the Commonwealth as a whole and another thing don't say that since "Justice" is supposedly on your side you can go around doing whatever the hell you want. What do you intend to try and force upon my Commonwealth?"

"Our terms will be simple and far more fair than most of the parties involved would like." replied the admiral, sliding a paper across the table.

Article 1
The Commonwealth of MidwesternAmerica will accept full responsibility for the attack on Sol and attempted destruction of the star system on (date).

Article 2
The Commonwealth of MidwesternAmerica will disband its military entirely.

Article 3
The Commonwealth of MidwesternAmerica will be forbidden to possess singularity weapons.

Article 4
The Commonwealth of MidwesternAmerica will become a protectorate of the Jannarii Empire.

Article 5
The Jannarii Empire will be responsible for the defense of The Commonwealth of MidwesternAmerica.

Article 6
The Commonwealth of MidwesternAmerica will draft a new constitution under the supervision of The Jannarii Empire

Article 7
The Commonwealth of MidwesternAmerica will be forbidden to trade with any party not approved by the Jannarii Empire

Article 8
The Commonwealth of MidwesternAmerica will pay reparations to the parties wronged during the attack on Sol totaling $120 trillion Universal Standard Dollars

Article 9
The Commonwealth of MidwesternAmerica will regain sovereignty upon completion of the reparation payments.

The Governor-General sat there stare at the paper in front of him and thought to himself This must have been what Great Great Grandfather felt when he was force to sign the Treaty that ended the North American War and forced to the stars. He looked up at the Admiral and said,"Ill sign your damned Treaty, but I am going to tell you this your Empire better be ready to pay in blood to keep this Treaty. The Commonwealth Military will disband for they wont be the ones who make you bleed it will every other man, women and child who knows that this was an injustice done upon us. But I don't understand why we need to rewrite our constitution, seeing as you know nothing of our government. But I request that we be allowed to keep our Skywatch Defense Stations in orbit of our planets."

General Ken Prescott in charge of ONI SpecWar Divion sat there after hear of the demands of this injustice that was being force on them by some jackass Admiral raving about "justice" and what not for some crime the Commonwealth had nothing to do with. The Jannarii Empire had ordered the disbanding of the Commonwealth Military and that part of the Treaty was being fulfilled to a point. Within minutes of hear of the signing of the Treaty. Commonwealth HighComm had sent out an order to begin deleting all records of ONI SpecWar and most of the major ONI base locations as well as records for over 250 warships, so that they could disappear to shadow bases hidden on the edges of Commonwealth Space to begin readying for Liberation from The Jannarii Empire. For The Werewolves would fight to drive off these occupiers.

"I am glad that you've decided to come to your senses. There were many in the military and the international community that wanted to see the blood of every last man, woman, and child in the Commonwealth spilled upon the rocks. It is fortunate that reason won the day and no blood had to be shed." said the admiral.

"I do not believe that any blood will be spent upholding this treaty. I believe that you will find your people far safer under the protection of the flags of Jannath and Hermes than you ever did on your own. We don't intend to dictate how your nation is run, we simply intend to see that no further lives are endangered for stupid reasons, be the lives in Sol or the Commonwealth." he continued. "I will see to it that you are allowed to keep your defensive stations online as they likely have little to no offensive capability. Furthermore, this fleet will remain in system until gates arrive and put the Commonwealth onto the network. At that point a permanent defensive force will be stationed here and in your other systems to ensure the safety of your people."
