Yes, we could use another flag up there. It would be of help to the USAP to see somebody else is competent enough to reach the moon and get back safely. On an unrelated note, do any Ruridovian cities contain China town-like neighborhoods, or in this case Xai towns?

Don't worry, Shek will fail as he would be a rogue- the government fired him after the end of the War on The East(as I'll call the 2nd War of Western Agression). Emmanuel... Emmanuel is the guy who killed PM Shiftwell, so Shek will probably go for him anyway. And yes, Cydysa(being a London-ish city) has a small Xaitown. Le Caeneren(the Paris of this universe) might have one, as well as Luminburg(the Edinburgh/Dublin).
In another unrelated note, was the 1st War of Western Aggression where we took you over? Should it be something like the Opium Wars?

I should really create a factbook but frankly I'm too lazy:

The First War of Western Aggression occurred in the mid 18th century when (after a series of increasingly convoluted events) the Buddhist population of Tien Sum launched a full scale pogrom against the Christian refugee's who had immigrated to the city. This was used as an excuse by colonial powers to invade XSN, but in reality they invaded for the abundant natural resources that the country possessed. So by and by the populous of XSN was enslaved and striped of its culture. Various rebellions against the foreign government occurred but it was only through the peaceful revolution of 1945 that XSN gain its freedom.

Part of the reason why ethic tensions in XSN are so high are because each of the three groups; (who are based off of RL ethnicity's with some differences), Han Catholics, Southeast Asian Buddhists, and Indian/Tamil Muslims, is because they each blame the other for causing the First War. It took the Seconded Western Aggression War to convince them to stop fighting among themselves and
unite to kill Lolzstanians/Rurivoians.

The reason I asked you for Xai towns is that I'm wondering if we could do a Mariel boatlift type thing, where the XSN government, in a effort to reduce the population of their overcrowded prisons, releases harmless political prisoners and offer to let Ruri give them asylum. The catch is that XSN mixes in actual criminals in with the politicals, compete with falsified documents. Basically an Asian scarface type situation.

Make sure not to tell your population that THAT's the main purpose of the space program...thank God (wait, Lenin) that Aleksians have come to expect that kind of thing from their leadership.

Military Size: 5% of population

Brief Background:
The nation had remained out of combat during the Hungramian War, however, a 500,000-strong force from the Djevkan Armed Forces were sent to assist in peacekeeping and reconstruction missions. However, in the duration of the war, local politician and leader of the Party of Traditionalist Ideologies, Marzus Szeskic, had secretly shown support for Hungramy's fascist government, even sending 12 soldiers to unsuccessfully protect their head of state.
When war between Al-Sadria and Mosulistan broke out, but more specifically, when Legionica threatened to nuke Ruridova, President Grevidi summoned a peace summit in Ula Noviskov. The summit was immediately cancelled upon Ruridova leaving the summit for national security reasons, as well as the bombing of a Djevkan rehab clinic.
Throughout Grevidi's ruling timeline (lasting until 86), he had sought to make Djevka a world power through peace and diplomacy. This had caused anger amongst the people, for they believed he had not focused enough on the homeland.
During the election, an assassination attempt was made, orchestrated by Szeskic (from his jail cell) and Kristaf Gugalskyn (the assassin), who had successfully convinced a Cresilian arms dealer to supply POTI ultra-nationalists. His final act in office was to permanently disband POTI. This caused mass rioting in the streets of Midyevki, located in the province of Gradonia, aheavily POTI populated area. During the attempt, Gugalskyn was shot to death by police, while Szeskic committed suicide. In response to the deaths, a group of POTI supporters bombed Prime Minister Lola Grobodskic's motorcade, fatally injuring her.
After the turbulent 1987 elections, Omar Vuladic was elected to power. Being the first Arab-born leader, he enacted policies that encouraged an increase of influence toward the other nations in the region, starting with strengthening diplomatic ties with Kandaristan. Vuladic was opposed to the Socialist system that ran Djevka and decided to allow privatized business ventures to CEOs of new businesses. This decision greatly divided the population.
This caused great concern to spread amongst the government of Legionica, but even more so amongst Aleksegrad's as well. In 1989, Djevka began seeing the impending sides of an up-and-coming civil war. Mass rioting erupted once again, this throughout most of the nation's major cities, including Ula Noviskov. Six months later, small, yet deadly skirmishes occurred between capitalist and socialist supporters, as well as the DAF. Skirmishes would continue to occur for the next nine years. Though the Djevkan Civil Conflict wasn't an all-out war, it certainly saw heavy involvement with foreign dignitaries and spies from nations like Cresilia, Ruridova, Aleksegrad, Legionica, and Lolzieristan. In the end, the year 1998, Aleksegrad attempted once again, to install a hardline Communist government. Unlike the first try in 1980, this yielded successful results. President Frasnik Bordenko, of the newly-formed United Djevkan Workers Party, began his rule of what would soon be the People's Republic of Djevka. He began by abolishing private ownership rights, as well as certain civil rights enacted by the Grevidi administration of the 80s, including measures that promoted LGBT rights (giving false, outdated statistics regarding the 80s AIDS epidemic). He also allowed for relations with the United States of Altruistic Paladins deteriorate. Things are slowly going back to the dark ages, but it's not so obvious to the people of Djevka, at least for now…
It is now 2000, and a Cold War has fallen upon the world…

OOC: Take that, Irene!
Also, I hope the countries mentioned in my history don't mind being involved how I've stated they were.

We approve, as the USAP's actions you described where consistent with my characterization of them. They promote civil rights, and while they wouldn't mind taking away property rights, they would most certainly take notice of the destruction of LGBT rights and promoting the spread of psuedo-science, which would be one of fatal results in this case. We'd also mind the implied destruction of democracy. You could expect the more established LGBT community, news organizations (the news groups here are very interventionist, and are not afraid to point out wrong when they see it and take action against it), and human rights groups of the USAP to take notice and inform the USAP and try to inform the world of what's going on there, while also promoting activism against moves taken by them. You could also expect the always well-intentioned and rebellious insane asylum of the USAPCIA to work in the shadows there promoting peaceful protests against those measures.

Note to self: Study how combat in space would work, and see if the USAP Air Force could greet them there with some of those should the (insane) Aleksian government try to flip our flag, create a bunch of fake origional landing sites so they won't be able to defile the origional, or have one of our astronauts punch out their cosmonaut for doing that, whichever would create a better mental image.

Uh, is it a bad sign I had specified that the USAP had a special event of ancient origions where athletes from all-over the USAP would come to compete in sports, an event which literally caused all states to stop any wars with eachother to participate. The sport in question is now recieving a revival for the modern world, now involving national teams and athletes from each nation participating. Is it a bad sign I've recently read Rainbow Six and watched One Day in September, and can only hope the group doesn't do anything at the events.

Ah, so we've always wanted to control you. Makes sense. And as for that plan... Ruridova is a Parliamentary Democracy/Constitutional Monarchy, so when the Senators and Congressmen tell the people they represent that "Xai Sun Nam will send us their political prisoners and anti-communist criminals" the populace will hear "Xai Sun Nam will send us prisoners and criminals", and the bill won't even get to Prime Minister Nathaniel Brixton. President Ladislav Aachen-Beibar of Bayern-Cechy will follow Ruridova like some parrot. And while Eleftherios Hellenus, the Coptic Pope of Tekrepolis, would take them, Tekrepolis is soooper isolationist, and unless they all became die-hard Coptic Orthodox and joined the military/government, they'd just be political prisoners in a different place.

LOL, I love that I just said that. Yet despite what my crazy Coptic alt says, the RSAA will go on. And I doubt you "claimed space". Back then, when you "discovered" other planets, Galileo Galilei made a telescope is Vespucci, Ruridova. The Catholic Pope(not Coptic, Catholic) had him killed for heresy. However, in 1970, Pope Benedict Paul X decided that the Church was wrong. :) Besides, the USAP didn't pay a tax. Why should we?

LOL, I just had the weirdest dilemma.... so, if Ruridova is essentially the EU, then the RSAA is essentially the European Space Agency, right? Well, the ESA sends both astronauts(from UK/France?Germany/Spain/etc.) and cosmonauts(from CIS), so would my guys be astronauts or cosmonauts?
Meh, I'll just choose astronauts.

Oh, shut up. Your crazy space programs are a sin against God Almighty and you shall surely burn in Hell for all eternity. The "other planets" are things God created for the Holy and us sinful beings should not trespass on His property. And I swear we're working on nuclear power, not nuclear weapons. Where did you get that idea, sir?

LOL, I love that I just said that. Yet despite what my crazy Coptic alt says, the RSAA will go on. And I doubt you "claimed space". Back then, when you "discovered" other planets, Galileo Galilei made a telescope is Vespucci, Ruridova. The Catholic Pope(not Coptic, Catholic) had him killed for heresy. However, in 1970, Pope Benedict Paul X decided that the Church was wrong. :) Besides, the USAP didn't pay a tax. Why should we?

The Almighty shall surely smite thee, and if he does not, he will pelt you with crazy conspiracy theorists who say you just filmed the landing in the Cresilian desert. :p

EDIT:We are working on nuclear energy. The government will make it into nukes(if it can), but nobody knows that...

The reason for this is, the Lolzis were Muslim during the Dark Ages, and lacked the paranoid Inquisition of the West. Thus, we were a center for scientific study in the late Middle Ages, and (since no one has claimed this yet) the site for the invention of both gunpowder and, on a completely unrelated note, blood transfusions.
Sometimes I'm reading through military threads here, and I stop and think "What the hell is wrong with all of us?" But then I get on Facebook, and realize I'd rather be insane than an idiot.

aah, very realistic. However, since the Chinese invented gunpowder(and fireworks and chopsticks and kites), maybe Xia Sun Nam should get the honor of giving Ruridova the weapon which it used to conquer the world.. including Xia Sun Nam.

The RSAA will launch a few experimental satellites, but the main benefit it sees is a massive improvement from LORAN to GPS and better cell phone coverage. However, a Ruridovan flag forever on the moon would be nice...

Yes, we could use another flag up there. It would be of help to the USAP to see somebody else is competent enough to reach the moon and get back safely. The USAP would love to sponsor other nations getting into space as long as they are democracies, and having the flag of another democratic nation on the moon would be a symbol of pride for the USAP.

IC: That's what you think! We communists will reach moon first! With greater manpower (and thus greater part production speed), no capitalist nation can outpace communist production! Soon, the moon will have the flag of Unity waving, er, standing proudly as you capitalists watch in awe at our superiority!

OOC: I am not actually like this, this is more of an IC boast that a normal Unitarian would say. The people of The Church of Unity DO enjoy making other countries feel bad, despite the fact that we are nowhere near extraterrestrial colonization capabilities. No bad OOC intentions here. :)

Tis okay. BTW, I have my suspicions those crazy Tekrepolians are making nukes. How do I know this? I am Tekrepolis. So unless we want the crazy isolationist Coptic theocracy running around with nukes, a temporary alliance might be in order. Very temporary.
