The Occupation of Tuskenjaar (Semi-Open)

Postby The Vuhifellian States » Fri Aug 19, 2011 2:27 pm

OOC: This being a continuation of events that were already RP'ed by me and Tuskenjaar, is primarily between us. Telegram either of us for an invite.
Introduction

Barely a month had passed since Admiral Constantine Ivret had returned to Vuhifell with the war criminals King Benjamin and General Saurfang in tow. Branded a national hero, parades and celebrations were held for him and the men and women of the Eleventh Fleet all over the Federation. Two months earlier, the king of Tuskenjaar and General Saurfang had detained and executed Vuhifellian civilians as part of a religious sacrifice. New Hivez responded with war, and the Eleventh Fleet was sent in to de-fang their newfound enemy. After nearly a week of constant air and missile strikes, the Kingdom of Tuskenjaar surrendered, with no Vuhifellian lives lost in the military operations.

The ink had barely started to dry on the Tusko Instrument of Surrender when the Federal Court for New Hivez indicted both King Benjamin and General Saurfang on charges of murder and waging war against the Vuhifellian Federation. The trial didn't last long, and it was mostly a formality. Both the king and his general were found guilty of all charges. The king was sentenced to life imprisonment in the private Foxtecha Underground Inmate Storage & Rehabilitation Facility in Golden Skies City. The general was sentenced to death and, as a military prisoner, denied the right to appeal. His execution by firing squad was carried out by Marines from the units assigned to invade his country before it had surrendered.

But the war, which started with the execution of a few dozen Vuhifellian civilians and ended with the deaths of thousands of Tusko civilians and soldiers and near irreparable damage to their government, infrastructure, and economy, was not yet over. As Tusko society began to collapse in the aftermath of the missile strikes, the newly formed government issued an unusual plea to their former adversaries: a request of occupation.

His head held high after the crushing victory a month prior, President Steven Daniels approved the request, removing Admiral Ivret from his command and appointing him the new Military Governor of Tuskenjaar. The Eleventh Fleet (in its entirety, unlike the Task Force sent to invade Tuskenjaar earlier) was to be dispatched to the nation, and the 9th Vuhifellian Army, led by General H. Wallace Stone, would be deployed.

Ideally, they were to govern the nation until it could get back on its feet, and to leave in their place a government pledging allegiance to Vuhifell. But in these matters, with an entire nation up for grabs, no one could ever truthfully know where this situation would lead...

Admiral Ivret looked over some documents one last time, affixing his signature to some papers he had missed earlier. He would be returning to govern the land that he had helped to destroy just last month. Personally, he hadn't wanted the job. He missed the fleet already. But the order came from the president, so there was nothing he could do. There were several men and women on the flight alongside him. Some of them were his executive staff, assigned to senior military staff no matter what their command is. Most of them were in civilian suits, however. Executives from the powerful corporations back home. It was his job to whip Tuskenjaar back into shape and get them into line with New Hivez. It was their job to milk it dry and send the profits home to Golden Skies City. Again, he wouldn't have let them on his flight, if he could - at least make them pay their way to the country, but the order came again from the president, and as a loyal sailor for over thirty-five years, he couldn't resist.

"Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your straps we're preparing our final approach for landing..."

As Admiral Ivret's plane landed, it took only a matter of minutes for it to be surrounded by tuskenjaarian citizens. they eagerly tried to peak into the windows of the plane, hoping to catch a glimpse at their new protectors from across the wetlands. One 7-year old tuskenjaarian child, in little more than dirty sweat pants and a sleeveless tabard, rushed to the entrance carrying a old military helmet. he placed it by the plane entrance and then ran back into the crowd. inside the beaten-up war helmet were fried crabs, peppers, and swamp moss, a welcoming gift of sorts.

A note on the top of it read in vuhifellian "Please do for my family what my dad cannot anymore".

The plane's rear cargo hatch began to open. Slowly, of course, to allow the squad of Navy Special Forces operators who had been assigned to protect the Admiral adequate coverage of their target area. As the door lowered, the soldiers quickly spread out, allowing lines of fire covering the entire transport. Admiral Ivret slowly walked out, surrounded by his staff entourage, while the civilian executives were busy unhooking their cargo from the floor.

A crowd of civilian had quickly gathered around them, with small trinkets and gifts being present both at the rear cargo door and near the cockpit.

"SUDS soldiers. Stand down."
"Aye aye, sir!"

Admiral Ivret began to take a few steps forward, nearing the recommended distance between him and the SUDS soldiers who could evacuate him inf the situation turned hostile. He coughed a few times, readying his force, before looking onward at the crowd.

"Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Constantine Ivret. I am an admiral in the Vuhifellian Navy and was the commanding officer in charge of the fleet that laid waste to your nation. I know that some of you in this crowd resent me for that, but know that I am a man of honor. I served my country in defense and memory of my fellow citizens who were killed in this land, and, having brought those who murdered my countrymen to justice, I mean the rest of you no harm. I have been appointed by my president to be the military governor of this nation. I will be hard but I will be fair. I do not discriminate but I also do not hesitate. Our forces will arrive shortly to bring back order and prosperity to your nation. Those criminals that now rove your streets will be punished. I give you my word and my honor, as a Son of Tyth, a Vuhifellian citizen, and a soldier that I will undo the damage and suffering I have caused to your nation and build peace between our two peoples!"

As he finished his speech, one of the executives, Donald Scareon, from the insurance conglomerate Sky Tree back home walked up to the Admiral.

"Sir, you don't mind if we begin our customer expansion operations now, do you?"
"With this crowd, here? What are you planning?"
"Well, sir, this country is a hostile environment with no effective civilian government. We can provide an adequate life and home insurance package to these people at affordable premiums, so long as they have gainful employment."
"Mr. Scareon, this country's infrastructure and economy was annihilated by my fleet barely a month ago. They have no gainful employment."
"Oh I wouldn't be so sure about that, sir."

Mr. Scareon pointed behind him, where the executives of other corporations were already busy with worker recruitment drives and those going on by one to each person in the crowd, clipboards in hand, and writing down information.

"We stand to make quite a bit of money out of this country's unique situation - rebuilding the nation from scratch with no local competition. It should make your job quite a bit easier if their only employment comes from Vuhifell..."

The admiral frowned and looked on the crowd. They were refugees and victims of war. To allow these drives would mean allowing their future to be dependent on a foreign entity that barely acknowledged them. But indeed, pacification could come easier if the corporations were allowed to independently develop and govern portions of the country alongside the military.

"Alright, Mr. Scareon. Just be sure to treat these people humanely. You are in a jurisdiction governed by Vuhifellian military law. I expect you to follow my orders as they were law, are we clear?"

"Yes sir, but you also must understand that our corporations enjoy full rights under Vuhifellian federal law in any Vuhifellian jurisdiction they operate from, even those under the authority of the military..."

Mr. Scareon began to wander off, shaking his head from side to side, before grabbing a clipboard from one of his assistants and heading into the crowd.

The Tuskenjaarians were confused. they either did not understand why men in fancy clothing walked alongside soldiers, or what half of the things these men in fancy clothing were speaking about.

A young female executive from Vuhifellia walked towards two tuskenjaarians from the crowd. "Good day to you sirs, may I ask if you are employed?" she said while handing them brocheours.

"We work in Reaver's Factory." said one of the men. "Who is Reaver?" Said the young executive. "Like you don't know who reaver is, you foreign abomi-" the other man poked him in the back with a pistol, and whispered in his ear "You will not get me arrested again".

"Reaver is the richest man in Tuskenjaar. he owns the infamous Venture Industries, which control's about 47% of the private sector here." said the man as he put his pistol back in it's holster.

"But isn't that a monopoly? wouldn't the monarchy be all over him?" said the executive, sensing danger.

"What is Monopoly? I do not understand what you are saying. Anyways, me and Yu'ngh work in his factory over there, where we produce anything and everything."

"I have to warn you though." Interrupted the other man. "With you foreigners bombing his meat processing plants and taking jobs away from him, I would suggest taking this." the man then pulled the revolver from it's holster and handed it to the woman.

"Reaver said the other day he would be hiring hitmen if any damned foreigners decided to interfere with his business" said the other man, as he handed the executive some hollow point bullets, as she looked in shock.

"it's a smith and wesson with hollow point bullets, so you know it's good. we would sign up for that whole business-thingamajig, but we don't want to get our boss any more upset." said the men as they walked away.

The woman dropped the revolver in disgust, and pulled a tape recorder out of her pocket. "I have to give this to mister Scareon."

It had been nearly an hour since Admiral Ivret's plane had landed at the remains of Petro'yui's international airport, and the first Vuhifellian reinforcements began to arrive. They were forces from the Vuhifellian 9th Army, under the command of General H. Wallace Stone - a man who had helped tame and conquer many formerly independent nations in the 1990s and add them to the Federation.

Another air force C-5 touched down on the runway and began to taxi to the tarmac. Since the crowd of civilian still surrounded Admiral Ivret's transport, and because the corporate executives still had to unload some of their baggage, the transport would stay a little while longer.

After it had parked, the rear cargo door opened as more transport entered the skies above the capitol. Most of them were in a holding pattern, circling several times overhead waiting their turn to land, while the admiral could see a few air force fuel tankers as well - proof of the difficulties of transporting 160,000 soldiers to another country when its infrastructure has just been destroyed.

Elite soldiers from the 88th Army Ranger Regiment were the first to exit the transport, quickly securing its perimeter before he saw General Stone and his senior staff exit, quickly followed by more executives. Likely representing other industries that couldn't get a ride on the admiral's transport.

"Admiral Ivret! This is the land that's been causing New Hivez trouble, recently!? I wouldn't have guessed it! You certainly did an excellent job - I hadn't been able to commend you for that!"

General Stone was a descendant of one of the first colonial families in Vuhifell, and each of the family's males have served in some branch of the Vuhifellian military since the 18th century. He was not the first of his family to rise to the general staff: his father, General Fredric Stone, personally led the 4th Army to victory over the communists in the civil war, driving them from the capital and capturing most of the Politburo.

"General! I'm pleased to see reinforcements from the Army!"
"Reinforcements will arrive shortly. For now its just me, my staff, and some folks the corporations in Golden Skies City decided to send."
"Yeah, I see they're already busy."
"We're all busy, admiral. I just hope these corporate folks will help us pacify the country in the process."
"Are there any PMC coming along?"
"Yeah - we both know federal law prevents any units but special forces and Marines from acting independently of the PMCs, admiral! Units from Foxtecha's Elite Black Guard should be arriving in commercial transports after we offload most of our men and equipment. Our plan is to use the airport as our primary FOB and then establish field offices in all major cities."
"Of course, let's discuss strategy in the plane..."

As both Admiral Ivret and General Stone walked back into the plane to discuss how they would rule the country, Jessica Heel, one of the mid-level managers serving for Sky Tree, walked up to Mr. Scareon, who was busy talking to executives from Equitable Life and General Resources.

"So I guess we're going to automatically bundle Sky Tree's insurance package into the workers' wages and automatically deduct, then?"
"Yeah. Under federal law we can do that in Special Administrative Areas, and occupied foreign lands count as SARs until they regain sovereign control."
"Wonderful, and your investment package from Equitable Life, Mr. Lee?"
"We'll be reserving that for local managers and executives. This country doesn't have the resources to maintain the kind of numbers we need to take on low income earners as assets, so we'll be leaving them for Vuhinvest when their representative arrives. We've already reached an agreement with them to divide potential customers based on income bracket and education."

"Excuse me, Mr. Scareon?" asked Jessica, before he turned around, a scowl on his face, his expression alone asking what she wanted. "There is apparently a local power broker who controls a large portion of the existing private sector. Navy airstrikes destroyed much of his property last month and he seems to have existing businesses set up that run parallel to the business model we discussed in the briefing."

"I see...go tell the Admiral. Under Title III, Part VI, Chapter IX, §1110 of Vuhifellian Code the military can exercise supreme legal authority to seize assets if its in line with military security. We can't secure the nation if a native holds a monopoly on industry."

"Understood, sir."

as more vuhifellian soldiers started appearing, more of the more shady tuskenjaarians started appearing as well.

one man wearing a stovepipe top hat, goggles, a chinchilla fur coat and moleskin pants in the crowd caught the attention of many tuskenjaarians. the tuskenjaarians in the crowd soon began to slowly step away from that one man in the top hat. as jessica heel was walking back to recruit more tuskenjaarians, the man put his hand on her shoulder.

"Get off me, native!" she said as she turned around with her fists clenched.

"Oh, if only the women in the government-run brothels were as thick as you. I am Reaver Venture, Owner of The Local Venture Company. Perhaps you have heard of me?" said the man, while showing a grim smile.

"Sorry, it doesn't ring a bell. what do you want?"

"You seem to be fishing out of the same stream of Consciousness as the rest of these rubber-heads. No doubt you are one of the members of those oversized lemonade stands you call foreign businesses. Take me to your boss." said reaver as he adjusted his top hat.

"I am sorry but if I let every street urchin wanting to see Mr. Scareon into his office, I would be in a-" before Jessica could finish her sentence, reaver pulled back his trench coat a little to reveal a sawed-off double barrel shotgun. he gripped it and winked.

"You were saying, little lady?" said reaver. fearing for her life, jessica mumbled "Right this way, mister reaver".

As the tuskenjaarians backed away from reaver, they approached a shaman standing on a soap box near one of the airplanes.

"DO NOT listen to the deceit of these demons! for they art the ones who torture our messiah as we speak! they may use strange and complex words like "Insurance" and "Interest Rates" But to what end, my flock! NONE! They would prey upon your fears of greed and gluttony, just to make a profit to further their own damnation! Only The Children of the Swamp are the truly Sacred! only we will be blessed by the ancestors and lifted unto the heavens! As A Shaman of the Holy Light of Tuskenjaar, I am calling all men and women to ARMS! Let us force these monsters out of our lands! they do not treasure the crabs or the moss as you or I do! they only wish for a MANIFEST DESTINY! FIGHT MY BROTHERS RESIST THE LUSTFUL CRAVINGS OF THE PROFIT!"

after giving this religious rambling, the shaman then took a stick with a crudely drawn vuhifellian flag on it, waved it in the air, lit it on fire with a lighter, and then threw it towards one of the elite guards. before it hit the ground, the shaman was running back to the nearest cathedral, with a number of his followers blocking the path to him from the vuhifellian soldiers.

"Alright! De-link is done! Back it up!"

The first light military equipment was being unloaded from their transports and soldiers from the 9th Army began to disembark. Though all of the civilians in the airport compound were unscreened, the first priority was to begin securing the airport perimeter and begin preliminary screening of civilians.

An NCO jogged to a nearby humvee, equipped for civilian information and propaganda, and used its speaker system to alert the crowd.

"To all citizens of Tuskenjaar within the airport premises at this time. Please line up next to this vehicle to begin a search. Refusal will result in detainment. Rations will be distributed to all those who cooperate..."

Those soldiers who were not securing the perimeter began to head over to the humvee and search those citizens who had begun to line up. Any weapons found were to be confiscated immediately and destroyed, while soldiers began unpacking cardboard boxes filled with military rations ready to eat with only a small amount of water. Although it was still being unloaded, a water truck was in one of the transports, stuck behind an armored patrol vehicle.

Near the makeshift meeting of executives that had tagged along with Admiral Ivret, a suspicious man could be seen following very close to a woman who was obviously a Vuhifellian citizen. The N-SUDS soldiers who had been guarding both the admiral and his transport noticed this movement, and their commanding officer motioned for a few of them to check it out.

Their rifles shouldered, they aimed steadily at the man's head.

"Sir, I'd like you to step away from that woman. That's an order, sir!"

Meanwhile, near the general's plane, some sort of commotion had taken place. The Army Rangers had their rifles drawn towards the civilians and were shouting at them. Some backed down, others would not, while another transport landed as another took off on the other runway.

"Stand down or you will be shot! Stand down and back away from the plane!"

Reaver heard this, and backed away from the plane, holding his hands up. he may have been cocky and egotistical, but he still knew what harm a bullet could do.

As the man released Jessica, she ran towards the N-SUDS soldiers, who quickly covered her while still directing their weapons towards the man in question.

"Are you an idiot! Huh? You're going to go and harass a citizen of the nation that not only bombed your country into dust, but is now occupying it!? Get on the ground! Get on the ground now!"

As the N-SUDS soldiers began to detain the man, the crowd surrounding the Army Rangers began to dissipate, with no sign of the anti-Vuhifellian preacher from earlier...

"Bloody savages...it's a shame the Marines never got a chance to invade this place right and proper."

"Hah! The Marines couldn't handle it so they called the Rangers. Fuckin' typical."

A growing pile of weapons was growing, quite exponentially, near the inspection line. The worrying supply of bladed weapons and small arms caused the NCO in charge to radio in.

"Hey, I need a ranger or two down here to guard the weapons pile."

"One riot, one ranger. Roger that. Smith, secure that weapons pile. The crowd's dissipated, so the plane isn't in danger and the grunts have almost secured the perimeter. We can begin expelling people soon."

"Yes sir!"

Reaver chuckled as he was being cuffed by one of the soldiers. "I would undoubedly love to stay and chat with you elementary school drop-outs, but I am afraid I have a meeting with some other foreign guests." after reaver said this, he reached in his back pocket and pulled out a small metal sphere with a SS symbol on it. he wiggled his goggles on and squeezed it, causing a large amount of a toxic gas to surround the crowd of soldiers. it was a haze of coughing and vomiting for two minutes, and when the smoke cleared reaver was gone, and the handcuffs cuffing one soldier's neck to the back of a humvee.

OOC Note: How were soldiers who are essentially Navy SEALs defeated by one ball of gas? Rule #77 in fiction: "main characters don't get caught in the first episode"

"Davidson! Reese! McCarthy!"

Apparently the Information Corps had been slacking off - none of the information gathered supported any evidence that Tuskenjaar had any chemical weapons, so the man is question must have had a private supply somewhere - and quite effective to immobilize three N-SUDS special operators who were trained to resist tear gas without their NBCR masks.

"This is the SUDS garrison by the admiral's plane, how is the perimeter looking?"

"Perimeter is secure, SUDS forces. No one's getting in or out without us saying so."

"Great. We're going to be sending these civvies out of here. There's going to be one that's heading to the exit that looks wealthier than the rest of the civilians. You are cleared to shoot on sight."

"Any other targets?"

"Standard perimeter security protocol."

"Roger."

Admiral Ivret took a few steps out onto the cargo door, before being covered by a SUDS lieutenant.

"Stay back, sir. We have a confirmed chemical weapon inside the perimeter."

"How are our corporate guests?"

"Secure, sir. The Rangers have them inside a security bubble. We had an incident earlier."

"And the civilians?"

"Problematic, sir. The Army grunts set up a weapons checkpoint, but they're overwhelmed by the capacity. We have light IFVs on the ground. Air Force controllers say they're bringing down some heavier firepower next."

"Okay...evict all the cleared civilians from the area and search the ones who have yet to release their weapons."

"Roger that, sir." The SUDS lieutenant got over the radio to relay the admiral's commands as a SUDS medic looked after the fallen operators. They weren't dead, but their pulse was weak and their muscles convulsing. Probably a mild neurotoxin. They would survive, but wouldn't be combat effective for a few days. Their digestive systems would be overactive in the mean time.

The regular army soldiers began to escort crowds of weapon-free civilians from the airport as those fresh from the transports began corralling and covering those who hadn't. IFVs with heavy machine guns were patrolling the tarmac, as squads of other soldiers began entering the terminal for a security sweep.

"So, admiral. It took a grand total of four hours for the situation to turn hostile."
"The situation is always hostile in a foreign land."
"True, but the country should have been pacified through a show a force."
"You're too harsh, general."
"And you're too lenient, admiral."
"I'm glad we had this strategy session..."
"If it can be called that. I'll be on the line with the remnants of their monarchy. You go about caring for these people, if you want, but the last time I checked, admiral, the officer's oath still affirmed supreme loyalty to the Federation, not Tuskenjure."
"It's pronounced, Tuskenjaar, actually. And I will win the trust of these people, in the name of the Federation."

The general walked out of the plane - an escort of regular army soldiers surrounding him. Now Admiral Ivret understood how he had conquered so many lands and annexed them into the Federation. He would commit coercion on an epic, mass scale. First, top government officials would be killed. Then the bureaucrats in charge of enforcing their will. Then the business community. He would plunge nations into chaos with the help of the Information Corps and then charge in with overwhelming force, destroying resistance and instilling absolute fear of the Federation into people's hearts. Then, with a country secure, his forces would go from church to church, library to library, school to school, and eradicate their culture: all records of their original cultural practices and languages, even if they were documents thousands of years old, would be destroyed, and the mythos of the Federation would be replaced.

Of course, those on the main Vuhifellian continent weren't affected by these policies, and press coverage of war was limited to major press conferences and victories. They were, at their heart, an imperial republic - a nation that sucked all the resources of a nation dry and sent them to the main continent and overseas provinces, and any other parts of the Federation would suffer until they acquiesced.

He still held loyalty to the Federation, but this was the admiral's first military administrative assignment. He was dead-set on avoiding the pattern set by men such as General Stone.

as the admiral walked away from the general, a man in flowing green and blue robes walked in front of the crowd that was staring on. he was covered in jewelry and holding a large staff with a dead crab adorned on top.

"Admiral Ivret, Hear me! I am Shaman Kuj'yvk. I have news about the man with the smoke grenades, you must hear me!" said the man while pointing his staff at the admiral, and having several guards point their firearms at him.

"Sir, down! Get on the ground and put your hands behind your head or you will be fired upon! Do you understand me, sir!?"

"Stand down, lieutenant. Unless that staff shoots poison darts I think we're safe where we stand. Speak, sir, and don't come any closer or the lieutenant will be forced to shoot you."

The admiral crossed his arms while he could see General Stone shaking his head from his transport plane. This represented a huge security risk, what the admiral was doing now, but he'd be damned if he was going to start firing at a crowd of civilians and a man with a wooden cane.

"The man who harmed your men, a man with a top hat, could not have gotten that poison from any tuskenjaarian weapons seller"

the man in the robes removed the dead crab from the top of his staff. he cracked open it's belly to reveal several metal trinkets inside.

"A member of my flock who saw the man in the top hat thought this was a foreign currency and he wanted it to go to charity. he said he found it while searching the nearby sewers for trinkets to sell. you might want to look at it closer look at it."

the man in the robes handed the admiral the metal piece. it was a piece of shrapnel with the letters: "SS" Engraved on it.

"I have similar items in my cathedral." said the man as he placed the dead crab back ontop of his staff.

The admiral caught trinket, examining its surface.

"This isn't of Vuhifellian origin, that's obvious enough..."

"Admiral?"

The admiral's senior assistant, Lieutenant Commander Miranda Walsh (herself notable for being the granddaughter of Information Corps' founder Clarence E. Walsh, namesake of the intelligence vessel that participated in the Tusko-Vuhifellian War) walked up, examined the metal container for herself, alternating between the trinket and the man.

"We're not well fortified enough to send out an expedition at this time, admiral. Not to mention you still haven't drawn up this country's military constitution..."

"Oh yes I have."

"Sir?"

"What do you think I was doing on the ride over here. I agree we're not fortified enough, and I won't send anyone out just yet...Sir! You have information and materiel that is valuable to the Vuhifellian Federation. Since we are not fortified in our positions, we do not have a way to process your knowledge at this time in a safe manner. When more of our forces arrive, we will send for you, and we will protect both you and your followers from harm. We will protect this entire nation, and we will find and bring to justice every criminal in this land. It matters not if you are a citizen of Vuhifell or Tuskenjaar, my staff and I will make sure the people who brought this weapon into your country are stopped."

OOC: ill make it realistic like my 2 SS Guards (elite soldiers of my nation) went into the smoke when it went off and got him out of the cuffs. It will be better than just him doing it.

IC: A white van approached the airfrield, inside were 2 SS Agents armed with AR-02 Carbines. This would be a simple snatch and grab as long as Reaver did what he was supposed to do. As they approached the area where a crowd was dispersing they seen reaver with soldiers around him. The van slowed down and then a large gas appeared everywhere. The Van quickly pulled up, the side doors opened as the 2 SS Guardsmen ran out with gask masks on. They ran up to reaver through the gas. One Reich guard kicked out one of the soldiers legs and then grabbed the keys and un hand cuffed reaver. The soldier wheeled aroudn and hit the SS guardsmen and the other came over hit him with the rifle.

The gs was starting to clear so they quickly grabbed reaver and threw him into the van. The van screeched as the tires spun or a second and then it sped off. As both of the SS men sat in the van they pulled off their balaclava masks and looked at reaver. The one SS men handed eaver a bottle of water. "Good job with the gas but next time do it before they handcuff you. Now i know your probably in a confused state right now from the gas but were SS Guardsmen sent directly by the Fuhrer and right now were on our way to a safe house, its not safe you right now every soldier in the city is going to be looking for you." The SS Guardsmen finished.

Hours since Occupation Began: 10
Troops on Ground: 4,000
Status of Eleventh Fleet: En Route

As night began to fall on the airport, the last of the civilians was being cleared, given rations, and escorted from the airport premises. The perimeter had been secured hours ago, and was in the process of being fortified - a guardpost had been assembled at the main gate, while sandbags were being laid down to create a makeshift tank emplacement. Ground troops were still deploying with light to medium ground equipment - heavy equipment and air support would be arriving in the morning.

"So...no one died today, admiral." General Stone walked up to the admiral, still holed up in his plane, awaiting for a final report that the airport terminals were clear.

"I hope to keep it that way, general."
"Nobody in the Navy knows urban warfare except SUDS and the Navy Special Warfare guys. That doesn't stay like that for too long. Me and my boys, we've seen enough...cigar?"
"No thanks, I don't smoke."
"Oh, right, you're a Kazan, forgot you guys don't smoke...you don't mind, do ya'?"
"Of course not."

The general lit up inside the interior of the plane - technically against Air Force regulations, but if there was anything that the Navy and Army could agree on, it was this: the hell with the air force.

"Waiting on the patrols?"
"Yeah..."

Almost immediately after he said that, a voice came in through the radio.

"Navy control this is army patrol Kilo November Six, airport terminals are secure and fortified."
"Kilo November Six, this is navy control, acknowledged."

Turning to the general, he shrugged, as if suggesting 'let's go?'

"I'd rather check in on my troops than set up an office right now, admiral. Heavy equipment and air support will be here in the morning, so we can launch our operations by daybreak..."

As the general walked away, another heavy transport began to land while another took off on the other runway. They would be seeing transports flying in and out of the airport at intervals of twenty minutes all throughout the night - the red and green warning beacons of the circling aircraft flickered on and off for as far as the eye could see, stretching well into the horizon.

The corporate people had already gathered by a barrel fire - a few of the Rangers had offered them their army sleep systems out of generosity.

"It's alright ma'am, Rangers don't need sleep!" he could hear from afar. He would have a long day ahead of him - coordinating the deployment of an ever increasing amount of soldiers, pacifying the local populace, investigating the Tusko chemical weapons capabilities, issuing and enforcing the military constitution, securing the corporate executives as they went about their work...too much to think about right now. The admiral just rubbed his brow, put on a jacket, and fell asleep in his chair.

Meanwhile late at night in a ghetto like part of the city on an abandonded street it was quiet ecept or an occasional arguement between people and distant sound of cars. A large brick building stood on the street abandoned probably during the war. A black van pulled up in front of it and out stepped 4 men who were dressed in black trench coats with black fedora hats on. 2 of them silently walked into the building while the other 2 walked around to the trunk to unload what was in it. The 2 men who entered the building walked up some stairs to the second floor. They opened 2 large doors to reveal a large empty floor room with large dirty windows on the left side, the moon light shining on them. The 2 men waked around the room slowly observing everything. Then the other 2 entered both carrying a large crate like box. "right there is good." one of the men said.

They set the crates on the floor and then waited for what to do next. One of the men looked at his watch "Alright you 2 go pull the van around into the alley net to this building and then i want you" The man in charge said turning to face the man next to him "To unload the crates." The men all nodded their heads and replied "Yes Sir" in low voices and then began carrying out their task.

When the one man opened up the crates he saw all of the weapons, AR-02 Carbines and AP-40 jaguars and magazines containing ammunition or each. The man in charge walked up to the crates and then smiled. "Perfect. Everything is working well...now we wait for Mr. Reaver."

Hours since Occupation Began: 18
Troops on Ground: 7,500
Eleventh Fleet ETA: 640 Hours

A full eight hours of sleep. He hasn't had that since before he joined the navy. Admiral Ivret stood up to stretch, heading outside to watch incoming C-5s and C-17s make their descent.

"Quite nice of you to join us, admiral!"

The sun was barely over the horizon, and more soldiers and equipment had been unloaded throughout the night - mostly logistical and non-combat. He could see they now had a communications trailer that had a dedicated secure link into the Vuhifellian Defense Network, as well as several fuel trucks - most of them had red stripes painted on them, indicative that they carried the bio-diesel for ground operations, but every so often he saw white striped trucks carrying jet fuel. They had heavy MH-53 helicopters, with another two being unloaded, and a convoy of light assault vehicles had begun to assemble next to the terminal building.

"General, what's all this?"
"Satellite intelligence has given us the location of a few strategic points we intend to capture before most of the city wakes up. They include one of the few intact broadcasting stations left in the capital, alongside the imperial palace, and a hill overlooking mostly everything else in the city."
"Any heavy equipment you're taking with you?"
"Some Warmasters, we only have six or so unloaded so far, so the LAVs and our infantry will be picking up the slack. As soon as the air force guys get those choppers unloaded we'll be able to provide air cover."
"Any anti-air threats?"
"No, doesn't look like it. Your fleet did a mighty fine job of annihilating the country's air defense systems and radar tracking abilities. Its unlikely that military forces will be a threat, since their government asked us to voluntarily occupy this place anyway."
"Insurgents?"
"Quite possible, and a high probability. That's why I'm waiting for the choppers - sniper cover from above in addition to the LAVs will overwhelm the unorganized militias that have been operating in the capital since the government fell."
"You're heading out with them, general?"
"Me? No, sir. I've placed Colonel Altman in charge of the initial assault. I'm going to stay back here in the FOB and coordinate with the Rangers and your SUDS boys for some deep-entry missions. There's some people that the Information Corps' wants dead or captured, and between my Rangers and the SUDS team I think we can have most of them in custody by the end of the week - at least in the capital region."

The admiral looked over from the pile of weapons collected yesterday - an entire platoon of soldiers was standing guard, with another platoon stowing weapons and ammunition (separately, of course) into plastic bags for transport back to Vuhifell for disposal.

"Alright, general. Carry on."
"Yes, sir!"

Though they were both four stars, Admiral Ivret was General Stone's senior by about three months, thus he outranked him. The two men were scheduled for mandatory retirement in two years' time, unless they were promoted to the Military Council, of course. For both of them, the successful occupation and pacification of Tuskenjaar could mean another five years in the military plus a seat on the Military Council or their exile from Vuhifellian society.

The last pair of MH-53s could be seen leaving the transport now, with soldiers from the weapons pile carrying the weapons from the pile back into the plane. Unfolding their rotors, the air force loadmasters quickly returned to their planes, allowing the army snipers and machine gunners into the helicopters.

"Alright, admiral! The first operation of the occupation is beginning! Here's to success, eh!?" The general shouted from across the tarmac, holding up another cigar. The convoy of LAVs and tanks hummed to life, and an entire battalion of soldiers began to enter the vehicles or hop up on top or alongside them.

The lead LAV passed the checkpoint with the guardrail raised just as the MH-53s overtook them and climbed ever upwards, Super Nine One and Super Nine Two would be circling the convoy at all times to provide sniper cover while Super Nine Three and Super Nine Four would be circling the first objective to do the same.

All the while, even in this first assault, some spunky private had taken the time to climb up to the roof of the terminal building and raise a large Vuhifellian flag on its flagpole.

Petro'yui Cathedral

A group Vuhifellian Soldiers along with the admiral were sent to scout the local cathedral, due to the shaman saying he has had more info on the criminals.

The cathedral was very similar to a christian church, with stained glass and pews everywhere. the stained glass at the front of the cathedral depicted former King Benjamin Petrochko, slaying a giant fire-breathing flying fish.

"What do you know of the criminals, shouldn't you be more focused on protecting your congregation?" said one of the special forces soldiers.

"the fact is that after you lot imprisoned our king, half of my flock turned against me" said the shaman, as he washed his face in a bowl of water. "After you took away from us the messiah, my flock was without a leader. half of us decided to keep making human sacrifices, and to wage a secret holy war against the demons who wear blue and white." The shaman then pointed to the vuhifellian flag badge on one of the special forces shirts. "They have even been killing members of my faith. they call themselves the guild of bloodline"

"My half decided to take a new route, to repent from the method of giving the ancestors blood for nourishment and rather to give them crab meat, one of tuskenjaar's most common animals."

"Ancestors, what does this all mean?" said the admiral, while looking at the stained glass image. "We believe that when tuskenjaarians die, they join a parliament of sorts, that governs the fate of reality itself. however, they need the blood of the living to use as ink to sign laws that affect the universe, and as humans were seen as the most intelligent of creatures, they were the first lined up for the BBQ. this tradition has been with us since our days in the antarctic" said the shaman.

"The antarctic? I thought you lived in a swamp?" said the admiral.

"thousands of years ago, my people sailed from an unknown land to colonize the antarctic. we lived as peaceful nomads and fishermen in tribes for a long time, until the foreigners came. they seeked to use the antarctic as a means to an end, to use my people as slaves, destroy our ancient culture, and drain our resources dry." said the shaman, as he started to get angry just thinking about it. admiral ivret started to sweat a little.

"we gave our trust to a tribe known as the syil, who promised to exterminate any foreigners, as long as we gave them temporary control of all the tribes. it worked, as they were tactical geniuses, and after much bloodshed the foreigners signed a pact making antarctica a neutral land for us to live in. however, the syil did not get the "temporary" part of our agreement. they started to use us as slaves as well, in order to give them more food and riches than the rest of us. however, that changed when the child benjamin petrochko was born." said the shaman, pointing to the stained glass.

"he saw visions from the ancestors, who gave him great strength to rise up against the oppressors. he started a revolution, using our faith as a incentive to fight. after much fighting, he emerged victorious, and his closest followers were made the council of 13. years later, after his ex-wife tried to assassinate him, our resources were too low to prepare for the antarctic winter. knowing most of us would die, he then colonized these swamplands, so we could feast on the plants and animals here." finished the shaman. he handed the admiral a heavy bag.

"my flock has found these trinkets along the coastline. each one has the symbols SS engraved on them. they are not of tuskenjaarian design." said the shaman. "before you leave, I offer you sanctuary here. my people loved our king and land, and when you bombed our lands and imprisoned our king they were furious. most people in tuskenjaar want your blood to spill. my flock has reported the guild of bloodline is posting a large bounty on your head. stay with me in the cathedral, for it is protected by the monarchy." the shaman said as he backed away.

"First objective secured. Radio station is under our control. Three-sixty security set up with a fifty meter cordon surrounding objective area."

"Roger that, Colonel. The Information Corps' has assigned you a new objective at Grid Echo Hotel Tree-Tree-Four-Nine-Seven-Nine-Zero-Tree"

"Roger, army control."

The radio station was now under effective control of the Vuhifellian military. Surprisingly, all the equipment was still working, probably a deliberate move on the part of the eleventh fleet to have a civilian beacon to tap into during their planned invasion. The assault force had encountered minimal resistance on the ride over. A few scattered civilians with weapons who either had the dumb judgement of firing on a heavily armed military convoy, cutting their life expectancy by several decades, or those who had been detained by ground teams sent to pacify the local populace in the wake of the convoy.

"You heard army control! Move out!"

Those vehicles and units in the convoy that weren't stuck guarding the radio station began to head towards their next objective. A few LAVs and a Warmaster tank were left behind alongside a company of soldiers at the station, while the colonel looked at the map in his LAV.

"Echo Hotel 3349|7903...a fucking church!? What the hell is the Information Corps thinking...alright. All units, respond, understood that the next objective is the church at Echo Hotel 3349|7903?"

"Roger. En route."

"Ground team this is Flight Super Nine One, path ahead is clear."

"Ground team this is Flight Super Nine Two, you had a fire team enter a civilian building earlier at grid coordinates Echo Hotel 3321|7811, confirm?"

"We can't confirm that right now Super Nine Two. We're on route to objective zulu. What's the comm status of that fire team?"

"Negative, sir. They're either not responding or they're out of signal range."

"Alright, alert army control, ground team out."

With the radio station firmly in Vuhifellian hands, navy command began to broadcast the country's new military constitution across all civilian frequencies.

Military Governor of Tuskenjaar

Grid Coordinate EH|3349|7903

As the convoy pulled up to the cathedral, the driver of the first LAV noticed someone strange - someone far too heavily armed and in a defensive position no militiaman could ever take...

"Ground team this is SUDS Squad Sixty-Six! Glad you could join us!"

"The pleasure is ours, SUDS, but what the hell are you guys doing here, aren't you supposed to be protecting the admir - oh bloody hell, he's inside, isn't he?"

"We have 360 security in place, but we were hoping for your heavy equipment and fire support in case the shit hit the fan."

"Hah, you know how this'll make you look to the Rangers."

"The Rangers are overconfident cowboys who put themselves in harm's way way too often. The mark of a professional is to be precise, quick, and cautious. Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast."

"Alright...ground team, establish 360 security and reinforce the SUDS squad around objective zulu!"

Inside the Cathedral

"Your king declared war on our country first after our diplomatic channels demanded the release of innocent civilians. You gave us no choice in that conflict. But you have a choice in this one. Our nation isn't here to plunder your lands - if you help us, we can protect you. Not only your followers, but everyone in your nation. I'd like to know where these 'Guild of the Bloodline' people congregate...and I'd like your support to help pacify the people so more lives aren't put at risk."

Inside the cathedral

"The guild of bloodline knows it's existence would be threatened if it had a stronghold in petro'yui due to the large amount of foreigners walking its streets. any reports of sacrificed people are based in the very north of tuskenjaar, near the border between tuskenjaar and the unsettled regions of the sweating swamplands. that area is the most uninhabited, so it would make the perfect hiding spot to plot, or escape. they believe that fear is the most effective way to gain power, so they would have to be located at a dark territory." said the shaman as he pulled out a map.

"Dark territory? what does that mean?"

"Dark territories are the areas in tuskenjaar where the land is the most horrid and uninhabitable. my people believe that monsters roam these lands, so no one besides non believers go there, and even then those people who do go there most likely get a crippling disease or get mauled by an wild animal. the only one where these sacrifices are located is the Stagnant Nether, which was once a site where the monarchy dumped hundreds of gallons of toxic chemicals from one of their experiments. it is said to be the place where death himself lives, so there is no wonder why the guild would set up their base their, because the threat of the reaper would scare any believers away, and the threat of the chemicals would scare any non believers away." said the shaman as he pointed to a location on the map.

"I can attempt to pacify more people, but they are both enraged that the man who imprisoned their hero is now their governor, and infuriated that their right to bear arms has been stripped from them, as written in the monarchy's constitution. if you want to calm my people's fury, you have to go through redemption" said the shaman as he marked the location on the map, and handed it to admiral ivret.

"Ok then, what should I do to redeem myself so these people won't get massacred, and my soldiers won't be in danger?!" said admiral ivret in a tense tone.

"I have to publicly absolve you of your sins. you do not have to be a member of my faith to do this, nor will you be harmed in any way, but if the people see a foreigner respect our beliefs and ways of life, they might see you and your soldiers not as punishers, but as guardians. do you agree?"

Admiral Ivret looked over towards the SUDS soldiers, shaking their heads.

"I dunno, sir. This violates every instinct of both common sense and military discipline in my body, but you were given authority from the president himself - far be it from me to question your decision."

The admiral looked down at his hands and thought back to Greykan. Thought of his own Kazan faith. They too were classified as a terrorist organization by the Vuhifellian government. Because of dual Greykan ethnicity and his Kazan religious beliefs, it was considered a small miracle when President Daniels appointed him to the Admiralty when he was first elected. That was eleven years ago and since then, he became the highest ranking Greykan-Kazan ever in Vuhifellian history. He was, at his core, a man of honor, like President Daniels and unlike those in his religion who had openly declared war on the Federation...perhaps he could trust this sect just as he could trust his fellow Kazans in the military?

"I should have you know, Shaman, that there is another man in command here that holds a rank equivalent to my own. He is a ruthless destroyer and is responsible for the conquest of many nations far more powerful than your own. I do not know what he is entirely capable of, but I do know that if any harm should come to me and he is allowed into power, your nation as it stands today will die. This is not a threat so much as a statement of fact: of my word and my intent and my honorable blood. I will go through this ritual in order to satiate your people and reduce the bloodshed..."

The admiral turned his back, before kneeling to the ground, placing his right fist over his heart, and looking to the ceiling. He began to speak in the ancient language of Greykan - one which very few outside of either the Greykan or the Kazan knew.

"Mighty Tyth, God of Gods; Ivret, God of Honor; Shanar, God of War, forgive me for the transgressions I now make in the name of other deities. Though I have spilled my blood in Your name, I cannot keep my faith. Accept my soul into the Heavens, so I may fight for my redemption. Gadan."

The admiral then stood up and nodded to the shaman, expressing his approval.

Petro'yui front gates, 4:30 PM

A crowd of tuskenjaarians gathered around in awe, as the high shaman was preparing an absolbsion for a foreigner. to get absolved of ones sins, it normally took an insane amount of money and bribery for even the most devout of the shaman's flock, but today the high shaman was going to forgive the man who single handedly shook tuskenjaar to its core. the high shaman ordered the crowd to be silent.

"Tuskenjaarians! As a people, we have seen countless horrors in our history.the syil, the kortorian war, the attempted assassination of our messiah, are all examples of this. As a religion we have forgiven many sinners who have gone against the six virtues: Humility, Generosity, Honor, Politeness, Loyalty, and Compassion. Never have these two traits Intersected, like two eagles locked in combat. but on this occasion, an outlander, a killer, and an unbeliever, has agreed to shed his demonic exoskeleton of the six violations: Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Hypocrisy, Rudeness, and Treachery, in order to bathe in the water of the ancestors, and to be forgiveneth.

Though normally the messiah would be the one to commence the transference, and the being to receive the sins of the other would be a penguin which we could not import due to the occupation, I will risk my soul to transfer the evils of this soldier, into this substitute! behold! A Toasted BLT sandwich purchased from the Love is Tasty Deli (trademark copyright) Shoppe! The ritual will begin in a moment!" exclaimed the high shaman to the crowd.

"Ok, all I have to do is place my left hand on your forehead while you kneel down. I will hold the sandwich in my right hand, and begin chanting. the sins will then be transferred from your body, through mine, to the sandwich. once the I stop chanting, I will throw the sandwich to the side, where it will be burned by one of my apprentices, you have my word you will not be harmed at all." the High shaman said to the admiral.

The admiral kneeled down to the left of the high shaman. the high shaman placed his left hand on top of his forehead. a vuhifellian soldier sighed, and then handed him the sandwich. the high shaman began chanting.

"Klaatu Barata Niktuu Jek Jek Jek So'yulimaganda Haflu'nasantrensza! Gornaso'lyncha Gybs'ralabatang-kang re-tama-gana, SENTABO!" Yelled the shaman to the crowd. the high shaman slowly removed his hand from the admiral's forehead. he threw the sandwich to a apprentice shaman, who slammed it to the ground, pulled out a lighter, and burned it. a millisecond after the flame reached contact with the BLT, the shaman fell to the ground, instantly turning pale. the admiral looked the high shaman in the eyes. "You are forgiven" the high shaman said. after he said that sentence, he passed out, lost his pulse, and died instantly of unknown causes.

'YOU ARE FORGIVEN." the Crowd said all at once, and then bowed down before the admiral.
