Commonwealth Border, Prussia

The Prussian Army, Air Force and Navy were being mobilized. Vast amounts of men were being pooled into defending their neighbor to the east. Dietrich Kolody sat on his tank's hatch looking at the border. It was crazy to think that war had broken out so quickly. He sighed and went inside the tank.

Your Majesty, since the Copenhagen Conference last year, we have always had close relations, and therefore there is no need for thanks. Heeresgruppe A (400,000 men) will be advancing up towards the lower Dnieper and the Crimea, while Heeresgruppe B will advance into the North parts of the Ukraine. Unfortunately, Her Imperial and Apostolic Excellency will not be able to attend, but in her place we are sending Generalfeldmarshall Ernst Model and Generaloberst Adolf Manstein to Reykjavik. We look forward to your response.

Yours in Friendship,
Emmalina Franz,

We will gladly allow your transports and other ships to sail with us. You may rendezous with the FEF fleet off St. John's, Newfoundland, in exactly four days and 15 hours. We have already sent this information to the Admiral in charge of the force; he will be waiting for your flotilla's arrival. Perhaps we can arrange a second joint convoy in the near future?

Thank you for your support. Our troops are departing as we speak on the transports and our convoy will arrive in 72 hours, aproximately. A possible reserve force is being assembled, however, it will take some time, since our nation is rather small.

THe Confederation of the 5 Nations, hereby offically declares war on the Commonwealth of Socialist States. Pusan, Korean Confederation

The Federal Executor was walking across his situation room in the Federal Palace. Before him stood, his Chief of the Army, Chief of the Navy and Marines, Chief of Colonial Defense and Chief of the Air. To each of them he handed a small, yet hugely important packet. Within it was an order from the People's Defense Ministry to begin full military mobilization throughout Korea and her colonies.

"Remember, this is not a declaration of war against anyone." The Fed. Ex. told the men while handing one of the packets to the Colonial Defense Chief. "This is to be implemented as quickly as possible, in case of aggression from outside parties we must be prepared."

After everyone received a packet, the Fed. Ex placed his copy onto a projector, and read aloud the provisions to his generals.

The Korean Military has entered a phase of full mobilization. All reserves are to be called up and armed and all active duty soldiers are to be put on high alert. Factory production, unless dealing with vital components of our economy, is to divert it's resources to churning out war materials such as ammunition, AK-47s (courtesy of our friends the Holy Roman Empire), Pershing Tanks and other essentials. Our shipyards are to focus on production of military vessels, both for our Navy and those of our allies.

Our fleet is currently transporting an Expeditionary Force to Europe, which we have asked to dock in the Holy Roman Empire, should access be denied, they will venture south and dock in our East African Port of Joseon's Fire (Toamasina). There they will join our Korean Colonial Force. The Korean Colonial Force, numbering 350,000 strong, will thus be re-enforced by the 15,000 highly trained Marines. In addition, our 1st Battle Fleet (1 Pusan-Class, 4 Pyongyang-Class, 6 Incheon-Class, 8 Kaesong VIII-Class) is to be deployed to Korean East Africa and our Expeditionary Fleet to Europe. Should hostilities be enacted against us, we will send the 2nd and 3rd Expeditionary Fleets (2 Pyongyang-Class, 3 Incheon-Class, 5 Kaesong IX-Class, 6 Kaesong VIII-Class each) to Europe and Africa respectively. As well as the 2 Divisions of the Korean 2nd Army (100,000 men). The Korean 3rd Army, Based in Dalian is to send half of it's divisions (250,000 men) to the border with the USSR, the other 5 divisions (also 250,000 men) is to safeguard the strategic Liaoning Province.

Most dignified ally, due to the hostile atmosphere currently engulfing Europe and the threat imposed by the Kingdom of Denmark-Iceland and her allies, we ask your permission to house a small Expeditionary Force in your port city of Kiel. We seek to send 15,000 Korean Marines, 170 Pershing Tanks, 150 M24 Chaffe Tanks, 400 M2 Half-tracks, 100 40mm AA guns and 67 M3 Howitzers. In addition we would like to anchor the Korean North European Expeditionary Fleet in your prestigious port as well (1 Pusan-Class Battleship, 2 Pyongyang-Class Escort Carriers, 4 Incheon-Class Destroyers, 8 Kaesong VIII Submarines and about a dozen supply and transport ships). We assure you that Military Police will accompany our soldiers and ensure that they remain respectful and obey all laws.

Greetings, noble ally.

Your request has been approved of, and Kiel is being prepared to house your Expeditionary Force. Kiel is also being fortified at the moment, as part of our ongoing fortification progress, which will effectively ensure the safety of your personnel and all other people there.

We would highly appreciate it if you'd include the ships you've made for us in your EF. This will simplify the exchange progress for the both of us, as there will be no need to send my forces to Asia, and my naval forces can transport the agreed upon weapons straight away.

The second part of the weapons delivery shall be sent right away, due to arrive within a month.

Signed: Benedikt von Grosswalde, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile in the Northern HRE:

The mobilization and fortification progress was still going on. With now over 3 million troops in the north, the danger of an invasion was lessened, if not completely gone. The army had done it's job, and the borders were well protected.

However, the navy was in some serious trouble, as their eastern and western forces were now separated due to the hostile lands who owned the Denmark-Scandinavian strait. An alternative to that strait needed to be found, and the solution was nigh.

Admiral Manfred von Rittermark had found a solution after many hours discussing and plotting. A canal needed to be constructed from Hamburg to the Baltic sea:Image

This mammoth operation would be the first of it's kind, and would cost a lot of Marks. But the Reichstag was sure it would pay off in the end.

The Kyzerryk of Estalia and Tilea firmly believes it is not race which matters, but loyalty and dedication to the cause. Why deny true hearted men with fury in their hearts and their souls filled with a righteous zeal, just because their skin is not the same color as yours, or their God the one you are devoted to? In this nation, people of all religions and races are welcome, unless they do not wish to give their all in an effort to make the Kyzerryk the grand nation it is destined to be. If that happens to be the case, we do advise them to find another land to call home.

Tallinn, Estonia

As the Yaks retreated deeper into the city, the planes would meet the full force of the anti-aircraft barrage. While some Yaks were downed, the returning barrage of fire from the city would surely be enough to recover their losses. Soldiers, holding rifles and submachine guns run down the streets of Tallinn towards the docks, despite the danger. They reach the fortifications, just as the fleet prepares to retreat. They cheer, watching one of the ships slowly sink to the bottom of the ocean. A glance upward, and the Ilyushin Il-2's trail close behind the fighters and bombers docking on the ships, dive-bombing and releasing whatever armaments they have left. Bombs, missiles, machine-guns, coastal gun barrages, everything was fired at the retreating fleet until it was out of range. Down at the dock, the half-track carrying the Sergeant pulls up, and he steps out of the car. Three dozen fresh recruits, mere draftees barely out of the training program holding the older Mosin Nagant bolt-action rifles. He stared at the soldiers, eyeing each one of them. They had a rage boiling deep inside them. Deep inside, they were still citizens, not yet full military personnel. "I want all of you, back to your posts, now." he calls, turning to get back on the truck. "And switch those Rifles out for the newer ones, those things won't do you any good on the frontlines." The soldiers cheered, wanting blood.

"Spear-head" fortifications

The Lieutenant cursed, as the Nebelwerfers rocked the bunkers. The concrete began to shift, as holes appeared in the roofs. He checked the rounds in his clip, four left. He lines up the MG-42 crew in his sights, emptying the rest of the rounds, he had no time to check if he had connected. He turned, dropping the mag, trying to reload. "Fall back to the next trench, on my order!" He shouted, as the DSkh's were loaded onto soldier's backs, as the concrete fortifications were starting to crumble under the Nebelwerfers, being only light fortifications. The next barrage of artillery hit the trenches closest to the Austria-Hungarian troops, simultaneous with a burst of rapid suppressing gunfire. "Now!" He shouted, as the troops climbed out of the trenches, sprinting to the next line of defenses about fifty yards away. A sergeant holding a PPSh-41 greeted them, with the barrel of his gun. "Hold your fire!" he shouted, as the Lieutenant and his troops piled into the trenches. "Sergeant, we'll need to slowly fall back if we can't hold them here, we need those Kaytushas up here, or some armor, damnit. Air support would be nice. How close is the nearest armor depot?" The sergeant scratched his head, thinking. "About ten miles or so? There's a small aircraft hanger twenty miles past that, as well, has about thirty or forty or so planes, assorted fighters and bombers." The Lieutenant paused, thinking, then nodded. "Get those artillery pieces to start targeting a little further back, take those Nebelwerfers our of commission. The rest of you, hold the line, damnit!"

Private office of Nikolai L. Trotsky, Kiev, Ukraine

Things were not going well. His soldiers were being rapidly divided, as two-hundred thousand soldiers for each front were redeployed from the heartland of the Commonwealth, mobilized to the Austria-Hungarian border, the Baltic front, and the DMZ with the Soviet Union. Among those were six armor regiments, two regiments per front. This was only the start, more troops will be deployed. An additional 200,000 troops were scattered about the Caucasus and other less-fortified positions. They had to hold. Nikolai, however, was not worried. The borders of the Commonwealth are extremely fortified, with miles of bunkers and trenches, barbed wire, sandbags, and mines lining the entire border. The easily produced Artillery divisions were spread out in concentration, as well as the Kaytusha weapon systems. 450 engineers from Prussia were deployed, fortifying the outward borders, and 500 overseeing the efficient production of armor and weapons. Small arms production was projected to increase nearly 15% alone! Tanks and aircraft were estimated at 5% increase and 7% increase respectively. The remaining fifty were intermixed with his own engineers, working on heavier weapons. They'll need them if they expect to fend off invasion.

I ask you to reconsider your offensive stances, and make a bid for peace before more people die as a result. If it is Bolshevik blood you thirst for, then look to the east of the Commonwealth. We are not the Bolsheviks you so loathe, we are as anti-Bolshevik as the rest of the world. May we all recall the second Russian Civil War, where my father freed my people from the shackles of Soviet oppression.

To Nikolai Trotsky,
I must say that I am touched by your move for peace. The United Kingdom of Scandinavia supports your notions for peace, and we apologize for any forward aggression. However, we reacted as such because your government placed an embargo on the Kingdom of Denmark-Iceland for an insult. Yes, his actions were brash, but your more so. But we shall move for this ceasefire until we can come to a peaceful solution. I am sure that we can come to a peaceful solution. The King of Denmark is actually a reasonable man. Tell your troops to ceasefire, and I shall ask the Danes and Austrians to do the same. But please inform the Prussians and the Holy Roman Empire of this as well.
Sincerely,
Kong Christer I of the United Kingdom of Scandinavia

Fall Wasserdrache, Romanian-Bolshevik Border

The MG-42 nearest Petr fell silent as the soldier fell back into the crater, blood seeping through his camouflaged tunic.
"Mediziner!" Petr yelled, and start ripping the tunic near the hole. He looked towards the radioman,
"Radio in some air support, we're going to need once we keep advancing" Petr shouted to him. By now the medic jumped into the crater and started working on the injured soldier. Petr slung the Kar98k on his back and grabbed the MG-42, loading another drum (50-rounds) onto it. The MG-42 vibrated in Petr's hands as it sent bullets towards the retreating Bolsheviks.

The Bolshevik artillery picked up again, impacting about 28 meters ahead of their current positioning. He called over a young Private and handed him the MG-42
"You'll be the gunner for Petrochazka" Petr shouted, motioning at the man that was next to him. "Seig Heil!" Petr shouted, and started heading towards the now empty Bolshevik trench. The rest of the platoon echoed back and followed him to the trench.

"Clear out those bunkers" Petr shouted as men began kicking open doors. Petr rounded up two men and walked over to the nearest bunker.
"On three...one...two...three" He said, and kicked open the door.
"Granate!" a soldier shouted, priming a stielhandgranate and throwing it inside the cavity. About 3 seconds later there was an explosion and Petr jumped into the room.
"Clear!" another shouted, firing two shots into the heads of the Bolsheviks, making sure that they were in fact dead.
"Herr Feldwebel, Kommando ist im Radio" the radio operator said, handing him the receiver.
"Jawohl" Petr said, speaking into the receiver. "Ja....Ja.... Sehr gut, dann" He said, handing the receiver back.
"Set up defensive positions! Reinforcements shall be here in thirty minutes!" Petr shouted to his squad.

War was threatened against the Commonwealth when it declared its resentment for the African colonization, and the proclamation to enforce unclaimed territores as sovereign lands owned by the tribes. An embargo was reasonable at the time. Bombarding one of our cities and calling it a so-called "police action" was brash and undiplomatic, not the Embargo.

Regardless, I hope you consider peace, as the Kingdom of Scandinavia has.

"Spear-head" Fortifications

By now, the upper defenses were fully aware of the blitzkrieg-styled assault the Austria-Hungarians had launched on the defenses. Some of the other bunkers had been hit by the Nebelwerfer strike as well. Under the cover of the booming artillery, several squads move up to support the Lieutenant struggling against the offense and Nebelwerfer strikes. They poured into the trench, unloading a new barrage of gunfire into the Austria-Hungarians. "Grenades!" the Lieutenant yells, and a dozen soldiers dig into their pockets. "Use your grenades! Fire in the hole!" A burst of heavy machine-gun fire flies across the enemy's trench, and the men swiftly stand up, humming the grenades in unison towards the enemy trench. Unlike the Austria-Hungarians, they knew exactly how far away that trench was. Trench warfare was a key part of the Commonwealth's infantry training. The Lieutenant's hopes were rising. The initial Nebelwerfer strike was deadly, but it alerted him and his men quickly to an oncoming attack. If only he could hold this line...

While the Lieutenant ran through a few crucial calculations in his head, the Corporal, holding a bloody Private first class, rushed up. "Sir! he's been hit in the chest, damn Machine guns got 'em!" he shouts over the gunfire. A medic rushes up, trying to stop the bleeding. Nine others laid in the trench, groaning from shrapnel and bullet wounds. "We need to get those men back, out of the line of fire!" yelled the Lieutenant. "Covering fire, on my go." the medics hoisted the wounded soldiers onto blankets and shoulders, preparing to move them to the next set of bunkers. "Go! Covering fire!"

OOC: For some reason Garwall, this is reminding me of Band of Brothers lol

Fall Wasserdrache, Romanian-Bolshevik Border

The nebelwerfers were quiet, giving time for them to readjust their firing position. He heard a frenzy of Russian, followed by RGD grenades landing in and near the trench. A soldier picked one up, only to have it exploded in his hand, killing him instantly. Other soldiers were more successful and either ran away, or quickly threw them back. The Bolsheviks countered with a renewed artillery barrage, not nearly as effective due to the Austrians being in cover.
"Heads down!" Petr yelled as the shells impacted near him, sending dirt and rocks skywards. The artillery finally stopped, and the MG-42's had picked up their fire while only pausing to reload or to change their barrels.

The sound of tanks grew louder with each passing minute. Petr quickly poked his head up and saw 5 Panzer V's (Panthers) slowly creeping up the hill.
"Freundliche Panzer!" Petr yelled to the puzzled soldiers nearby, who nodded. Just then, 2 Me-262's flew over, dropping their napalm canisters over the Bolshevik trench. By now the Panthers were just cresting over the edge of the hill and were approaching the Austrian trench.
"Heads down!" Petr yelled crouching so that his head was under the edge of the trench. The tanks crossed over the trench, crumbs of dirt fell inwards, crackling against the steel helmets.
"Seig Heil!" Petr yelled, and climbed out of the trench and quickly ran up to the tanks. The platoon echoed him and charged after him.

OOC: Didn't adjust your casualties/wounded, mate :p
------

The Lieutenant cursed, hearing the oncoming planes. He shouted for the men to get into the bunkers, inside dug-outs in the church, anything to hide from the bombs. A few weren't so lucky. Four soldiers caught by the flames in the trench, dead instantly. Three others had severe burns. He peeked out of the bunker, only to see the Tanks approaching. He swore, but knew the armor wasn't going to last long in this barrage. After all, those 100-mm guns were designed with tank armor in mind. "Fall back, to the next bunker!" he shouted, using the flames as a distraction. They wouldn't be able to target his men as easily, with the flames scattered about. They heaved themselves out of the bunker, inching closer and closer to where their artillery was located. If they reached the guns, the battle was over. They had to hold them. Here.

The next set of fortifications were thicker, more fortified. It would take more than a few Nebelwerfers to crack these babies. Vladislav ran into one of the bunkers, and pauses. He slowly lifts his right hand to his left shoulder. He'd been shot. He cursed, as the Corporal ran up to him. "Sir, you been shot! We need to get you to--" the Lieutenant cut in. "No, it's a flesh wound.. I'll be fine." he coughs slightly, looking around. Besides the normal heavy machine guns armed on the slits in the bunker's front cells, they also seemed to have a few PTRD anti-tank rifles. Vladislav smiled, he could make use of those. He looked around. "What's the status on that air support? And where the hell are my Kaytushas, damnit!" he shouted. The Corporal had been manning the radio since the Private took a bullet. "Couple dozen Yak-7's on their way, they have a few Il-2's in tow, those should stop those bastards in their tracks." The Lieutenant grimaced. He had to hold the enemy attackers. "Get some soldiers on those PTRD's, see if you can knock those tanks out of commision, or at least their treads!" Moments later, several PTRD's began taking pot-shots at the oncoming tanks. Thanks to the closer range, the weapon had some effectiveness. All the while, the Artillery pieces concentrated their fire on the field between the enemy soldiers and the next trench. Moving up would be costly, with half a dozen DSKh machineguns alone ready to cover the field with lead, four in the bunkers, and two set up in the trench just in front of the concrete bunkers.

Up and down the trench and the bunkers, soldiers shouted, 'hold the line!'

OOC: It went from 11 dead to 17 dead... I took it into account when I placed it in the first place.

"Fall Wasserdrache", Romanian-Bolshevik Border

A thumping was heard in the distance, followed by several screeches as the nebelwerfers renewed their bombardment of the trenches, the 210mm rockets impacting the Socialist lines. The Russian Artillery replied with their own bombardment, shells hitting the Earth, killing four soldiers while injuring two. The Austrians dove into the craters to avoid the gunfire/artillery, while the Panthers continued to press forward.

The PTRDs were having a noticeable affect on the Panthers, leaving dents in the armor while a few lucky rounds rendered one immobile. The turret on the tank swiveled towards the nearest bunker and fire it's 75mm cannon at the slit, causing a field of smoke to come from the gun.
"Move forward!" Petr shouted, and moved up to the next crater. Several more screeches were heard as the nebelwerfers fired another salvo towards the Russian trench.

More men were rushing towards the previously captured trench, while six halftracks and Panthers were creeping up the hill. Soon the halftracks emerged, their MG-42's providing just enough covering fire for the 12 men in each halftrack to file out. Suddenly a halftrack exploded, a lucky shot from the Russian artillery. Two Panzerwerfers had arrived just at the bottom of the hill, each armed with Six 320mm incendiary rockets. Several loud screeches were heard as they were propelled towards their target..

Hope swelled in the breasts of the Commonwealth soldiers as the Artillery strikes and PTRD's hammered the infantry and tanks, they had them now--If only their air support would arrive in time! Meanwhile, they prayed that the bunkers would hold. The Nebelwerfers rocked the bunkers, as chips of concrete fell from the ceiling. The soldiers breathed a bit easy, then the 75mm cannon blasted into the bunker. The crew barely had time to duck, before the round went straight through the slit--impacting on the wall behind them. One man was killed instantly, the machine-gun completely out of commission, and the other laid on the ground, bleeding from many places all at once. He groaned, leaning against the wall. The Lieutenant glanced outside, watching the half-tracks approach closer..

"Get some fire on those half-tracks, and watch the machine guns!" He cried, ordering his marksmen to aim for the MG-42 crews, while the Panzerwerfers screamed into the bunker walls, putting small holes in the concrete, the shrapnel killing one man instantly. The Nebelwerfers were taking their toll, displacing a large piece of concrete, killing another man. "What's the status on those air-planes!" the Lieutenant called back, peeking into the radio room. "They're almost here! Hold the line!" replied the Corporal, frantically working the machine.

Down in the forward trench, soldiers were helplessly trapped, the spurts of machinegun fire keeping them pinned down. An operator of one of the DSkh machineguns lay dead, struck fatally in the brain by a bullet. The other was running low on ammunition...

"Fall Wasserdrache", Romanian-Bolshevik Border

Another PTRD slammed into the passenger visor on an SPW, killing the passenger instantly and spraying the interior with chunks of brain and skull. The driver checked his watch, then stopped the vehicle, motioning the twelve men inside to disembark. The gunner fired furiously, the MG-42 overheating in just 45-seconds. Taking this as their chance, a Bolshevik sniped him in the chest, causing the lifeless body to plummet back inside the passenger hold.

Back on the ground, Petr loaded a fresh clip into the Karabiner 98k, took aim at another DshK operator and pulled the trigger. Further down the line, a panzerschreck rocket was propelled towards another slit in a bunker. Another Panther laid immobile, the PTRD making a slight nick in the right tread. It swiveled it's turret towards the nearest bunker and fired a round into the slit, a cloud of grey smoke forming as the shell was projected towards slit.

The sound of jet engines grew nearer and nearer, until finally, 3 more Me-262's zoomed over the battlefield, dropping their napalm canisters over the trench system.

Another DSkh operator fell dead, inside the bunker. The death toll was rising, as the combined effort of the rockets and tanks blows a hole big enough in one section of the bunker for men to duck in and out of, three more men lay dead. The bunkers were failing, soon they would be useless. "Duck!" Cried a soldier, as the napalm-bombers dived in for another pass. The trenches were scorched, leaving seven men burned to a crisp. The Lieutenant readied the order to fall back yet again, when gunfire was heard in the skies above. Two Yak-7's screamed by, peeling into the air and circling around, making another pass at the Jet aircraft. The Yak squads had let loose a hailstorm of machinegun fire as they passed the Jet aircraft, as the approaching air-support neared the battlefield.

Three Yaks dived close to the ground, the aggressive sound of gunfire coming from the skies as well, peppering the approaching infantry squads. And then appeared the Il-2 dive-bombers, as they soared in close to the enemy trenches, dropping hundreds of pounds of bombs onto the unsuspecting soldiers and armor beneath, focusing on the armor for obvious reasons. Six in all, only two had dropped their payloads on the foremost infantry attacking the fortification, the other four, protected by closely followed Yaks, soared across the battlefield out to the Nebelwerfer launcher sites, dropping more bombs as they neared, and finally peppering the Nebelwerfers with even more bombs. Out of the dust of the bombardment, a single word was shouted.

"Charge!"

The surviving troopers poured out of the bunkers, ferociously counter-attacking the surely rattled enemy position, firing into the soldiers, and if close enough, hopping into the trench, using the bayonets standard on all SKS model rifles, all the while the two DSKh machineguns left operational let out short bursts into any gap between the line of Commonwealth soldiers.

The Yaks and Sturmoviks(?) tore apart at the troops and armor, destroying two Panthers and about 17 men. In the back, the nebelwerfers had a fair better chance, as they were protected by several Flakpanzer IV's, the quad 20mm firing at the impending air support. Despite this, 4 nebelwerfers were knocked out of commission, along with two flakpanzers and 10 men.

The Russian scream of charge was unmistakable, and all available MG-42s were firing at the horde of men approaching. The three remaining halftracks rushed forward, hoping to scatter the troops while the gunners fired ferociously, only pausing to reload their weapons. The Panthers fired into the bunkers while the MG-42 in the hall fired at the horde of men approaching their lines.

OOC: That usually means it's time to retreat :p
-------------

The MG-42's cut down the advance, halting it in its tracks, as soldiers crouch behind destroyed armors and hide in foxholes created by the bombings. Two PTRD's had been brought up, to counter the still-approaching armor, while soldiers struggle under fire to set up a lighter DP-28 machine gun, to return fire on the enemy. Grenades were thrown into the holes, soldiers concentrated their efforts on the MG-42's. Soldiers began to move up from the trenches behind them, past the bunkers, reinforcing the line. It was now or never, they had to push them back!

As the Flakpanzers opened up on the approaching aircraft, the less-armored Yaks tried to peel away, but were not so lucky as the bombers. Two Yaks went down into the fields behind the Nebelwerfers, one slowly descends, smoke billowing from the engine. The heavily-armored Il-2's however, suffered minimal damage, one however sustained signifigant damage to its left wing, as it tries to make it back to Commonwealth-controlled land.

The remaining Yak planes pulled back, two diving in close to the trenches again, letting out another bullet-storm into the Austria-Hungarian soldiers.

OOC: Perhaps, but I don't you that Galicia would be mine, perhaps peace treaties or money?

IC: The Yaks made a last strafing run cutting apart another 8 more men. Another PTRD shell slammed into a visor for a halftrack, killing the driver while the gunner continued to fire the MG-42. The company had lost nearly half of it's men, but still had quite the amount of strength left in it. There were several screeches as the nebelwerfers fired another volley of rockets at the Bolshevik trench. This screech, however, was muted by the far louder screech of the two panzerwerfers, whom had been left unscathed by the Russian air support.

Petr picked his head, only to be kicked by a Russian soldier. Petr fell backwards, his Kar98k flying to some distance. The soldier shouldered his SKS, only to have it jam. Petr took this as an opportunity and lunged at the Russian, pulling him into the crater. The Russian punched Petr in the head, and pulled out the 45cm trench knife. Petr grabbed his hand and banged it against the wall of the crater until the knife was out of his hand. The Russian tried forcing Petr off, but was unsuccessful. Petr pulled out his officer knife, the encryption Gott Mit Uns glistening in the waning sunlight, and slowly plunged it into the Russian's chest, blood spraying everywhere while the Russian convulsed.
"Do svidaniya mudak" Petr whispered into the Russian's ear and plunged the knife into his body up until the hilt. He retracted the knife wiping the blood off on the Russian's uniform as he did and retrieved his Karabiner 98k.

2 Panthers (5 men each)
2 Halftracks (3 men each)
50+ killed, 20+ wounded

OOC: Sorry about the somewhat godmod-ish knife scene... I just felt like it had to be in there.

The North Sea, off the coast of Holland, the Holy Roman Empire

The Korean Expeditionary Force had finally arrived in Northern Europe, it's sailors were clearly exhausted and looked enthusiastically for the first sign of land. The Pusan-Class, Pyongyang-Class and 3 Kaesong IX-Class ships ordered by the Holy Roman Empire were steaming slightly forward of the main formation. Their destination was the port of Kiel, where they would be formally handed over to the Holy Roman Navy. The rest of the Expeditionary Force was to head towards the province of Eastern Frisia, which had been put under the authority of the Korean Expeditionary Command, under the condition that it's ports be used in part to build even more ships for the Holy Romans.

"I think I see something." A slightly overweight sailor leaned over the protection rail and pointed at the horizon. "Land-HO!!"

Soon his friends gathered around him and looked in the same direction. When they saw the small sliver of green at the edge of the ocean, they quickly began to cheer and hug each other. It had been a long ride from Korea and the men were thrilled to finally reach their destination.

Attention, fellow personnel of our fine Korean Navy, this is your Admiral speaking A voice blared over the intercom. We have reached our destination, it is exciting yes, but we will be docking within a few hours, thus everybody must get back to their stations immediately. Once we are settled in, the Army and Marines we transported here will disembark, all 250,000 of them and all of their equipment. This will require diligence on your part, as god knows those land-folk can't steer a ship to save their life. You have to help them.

Once the Ground Forces are gone, they will construct their base inland, you guys will then be free to roam around town and mingle with the locals UNTIL your curfew at 23:00, then every sailor not on guard duty comes back to the ships and goes to bed. Is that clear?

The sailors groaned at hearing of the curfew, and then dutifully went back to work.

OOC: I've assumed in this post that Eastern Frisia is the same location on the map that you TG'd me. If it's not, please tell me and I'll change it.

"Spear-head' fortifications

The Ukrainian in the trench slowly fell to his knees, slumping over, the rifle out of his hand. Something else rolled out of his other hand--a short stick with a ball coming off one side. Commonwealth soldiers had a nickname for this intriguing object: that which goes boom.

The Lieutenant leaned against the wreckage of a vehicle, trying to catch his breath. He had lost a lot of blood, he'd need medical attention sooner or later. He looked on with a grimace, as the Panzerwerfers continued to fire off rounds, one taking out two soldiers coming to reinforce . The sound of another Ilyushin Il-2 pass overhead was heard, but for nothing. It had dropped its payload back on the Nebelwerfers. Though there was some light in the darkness, as the DP-28 began to spit out hot lead to contend with the MG-42's. "Yitson, Bomber, I need one of thoe DSKh's online!" Mikhail cried, while the rest of the platoon leans over the wreckage, providing covering fire. The two men charge for the trenches closest to their bunker, Bomber leaps into the trench, immediatly working on the DSkh. Yitson fell a few feet short, a bullet lodged in his leg. He crawled towards the trench furiously, trying to make it inside.

Seconds later, the spitfire from the trenches continued, while Mikhail looks around, eyeing his men. The PTRD on one side of the field was down, a bullet in his neck. The Lieutenant curses again, and pushes another soldier to go operate the gun.

Romanian-Bolshevik Border

The Il-2 flew over the nebelwerfers, the flakpanzers firing their quad 20mm at the approaching bomber. It dropped it's bomb, destroying another flakpanzer. Two more halftracks approached the Austrian trench, each carrying 12 men, while their MG-42's echoed out. Both sides were taking heavy casualties, but the Austrians had the ability to bring in reinforcements... originally planned to be breakthrough units.

The MG-42 nearest Petr fell silent, the gunner changing out the hot barrel. The two immobile Panthers continued to fire rounds at the bunkers and trench, switching between HE and AP rounds depending on the target.

Petr fired his Kar98k, killing a Ukrainian as he just got over the trench. He pulled the bolt back, ejecting the spent cartridge and a new one filling in it's place.
"They're about to break any moment now!" Petr shouted out, hoping to motivate his troops. The Austrians were not accustomed to this style of warfare, preferring to launch quick attacks with their mechanized and tank units while the infantry followed to mop up.

The rumble of engines could be heard, then came the unmistakable sirens that the Stuka made famous. Petr looked up, seeing three Stukas diving down towards the Ukrainian bunkers, their sirens wailing as they did so. It seemed at the very last moment the Stukas dropped their 500lb bombs on the bunkers, then pulled back up and began to strafe the artillery positions with their wing mounted 37mm cannons

3rd Railway Armor Depot, 15 miles off the "Spear-head" line

Men rushed outside of their barracks, as they heard the approaching Yaks and Il-2 bombers scream by, heading for the front lines. Inside the radio station, a message is received, with intermittent bursts of gunfire and artillery shells.

"Austria-Hungary troops penetrating Spear-head fortifications... Need backup... reinforcements requested immediately..."

Warrant Officer Yukovich couldn't believe what he was hearing, though the gunfire and airplanes passing overheard was enough proof. The steady boom of artillery already had stirred suspicions inside him. They were planning on mobilizing six Kaytusha rocket launcher trucks, eight T-34 tanks, and six SU-100 tank destroyers. Four half-tracks were also loaded up with soldiers bunking in the Depot.

Yukovich was familiar with the battle tactic of most nations in Europe, a form of fast and brutal assault using armor and heavy/light troops to break through defenses, and push the attackers back. The fact that they were still defending the Spear-head fortifications was a miracle, but a short-lived one. If they didn't get these reinforcements there soon, there wouldn't be much of a fortification to save. He joined the crew of an SU-100 Tank-destroyer, entering the heavy vehicle, and activated the radio. "Move out! The Kaytushas and half-tracks will go first, we'll catch up." The convoy began to roll out.

"Spear-head' Fortifications

The concrete bunker was destroyed, with holes in the roof and gaps in the walls. The bombs killed another four men inside the bunker, blowing a hole through the other side. The Lieutenant cursed, knowing this tier was lost. "Fall back to the next line!" he called, hoping that the interconnected bunkers would prevent any enemy armor from advancing. Under heavy suppressing fire, the remaining soldiers filed out through the other side, into a wide field. Three hundred yards away, was the next bunker-line and trench, two hundred yards behind that, their artillery batteries, where six men lay dead from a strafing run by the bombers, one artillery piece rendered useless. The next bunker was a store-bunker, with extra arms and ammunition. There was three holes in the line of bunkers that would be large enough to fill soldiers through to the other side of the bunker into the field, along with two doors. It was a virtual death-trap for the attacking infantry, assuming they can lock down those choke-holds.

They waved their hands as they crossed the field, identifying themselves as friendlies. They ran across the field, wounded in tow. Three men carried a recovered DSKh from the trenches. They spread out, in the trenches, on the field, taking positions, ready to counter the enemy attack.
