Korean Occupation of Formosa (AH RP; Closed)

Taipei, Korean Occupied Formosa

Several Korean soldiers were standing guard outside the military HQ in the center of town. The island of Formosa had been under Korean Military control ever since the invasion and toppling of the former Taiwanese government 2 years ago. The invasion had followed a 5 month maritime war where the Korean Navy slowly but surely defeated the Taiwanese Maritime Defense Force, opening up an avenue for the amphibious invasion.

One of the Korean soldiers, SSGT Park, looked up disdainfully at a crowd of locals whom were gathering suspiciously right outside the barbed wire fence. He then lifted his SMG Type 50 (same as US made M3) and sprayed bullets into the air above them.

"Get the hell out of here!!" He yelled. "Scram!"

It was a well known fact that the locals hated the 80,000 Korean Soldiers occupying their island, and their leader Maj. General Han Un-chan was considered a demon, the utmost apex of evil. Yet despite this, they were normally very obedient. Knowing full well what would happen to anybody that defied the Korean occupation: Exile, Hard Labor and Execution.

Not this time.

The crowd yelled angrily back at the soldier. Some of them ran forward, aggressively, for the gate. Others stayed further back, hurling stones and bottles over the fence.

"Get out of our country!!" They yelled.

Infuriated the two soldiers standing guard opened fire. The few rioters who reached the fence of the fortified compound were shot off it, falling hard onto the cold, concrete ground. Soon an armored M2 Half-Track drove out of the garage of the compound, and charged out the front-gate. It's gunner firing wildly at the crowd while the driver attempted to run over as many rioters as he could.

In a few minutes, the area looked like a warzone, insurgents amongst the crowd were firing pot-shots at the Koreans while hiding behind bodies of their comrades slain by the guards. What had began as a foolish attempt by a mob to storm the Korean HQ was now turning into a bloodbath for said mob. What few guns the Taiwanese insurgents had were outmatched by the machine guns of the guards and the armored car circling furiously around them.

As the last of their followers were dispersed from the Korean HQ, the main insurgency in Formosa, The Tigers of Taiwan released a statement:

Despite our setback today, we will defeat our nemesis, Korea. We will kill them in our streets and then we will chase them back over the sea all the way to their toxic homeland. The Peninsula that spawned these imperialists, will be their eternal grave...

Delanshar, why don't you add that as a note at the top?

"Though an important commercial partner of our country, Brazil heavilly condemns the korean repression in occupied-Formosa. States can't call themselves democratic when they act like a pariah; slaughtering civilians and oppressing an entire country. It is with great sadness that the Empire calls back its ambassador in Korea, but we can't accept the massacre that happened last day."

Prime Minister Getúlio Vargas looked the crowd that had gathered in Dom Pedro II Square, the huge and imponent plaza built in the 1920s, in Rio de Janeiro, capital of Brazil. He was well-aware of the situation in Formosa, and even though he sympathized with the Tigers of Taiwan and its objective of freeing Taiwan, he knew that Korea was a major partner in Asia, and he had to take care of the issue with caution. Basically, he was bluffing about unwavering support for the taiwanese, but in need of it, he would take a firm stance on defense of the island.

Surprisingly for Getúlio, the korean-brazilians, which represented about 3% of the population (5.100.000) were the first to demand a response by the government.

The crowd cheered as he went down of the podium and started talking with the people. After some minutes he asked for silence.

"My comrades, our Emperor is on diplomatic duty in Europe, but i'm keeping in touch with him and he fully supports the taiwanese" the crowd once again cheered, yelling "viva o Imperador*". The people simply loved the Monarchy. After all, the ten first and only years of the Republic (1889-1900) proved the few republicans how wrong were they when they staged a military coup to overthrow the Empire. After that, the population stormed the President's Office in Rio de Janeiro and began the "Monarchist Spring", which brought Empress Isabel I and the rest of the Imperial Family back to Brazil. "We will be a beacon of hope for these poor people, a flame of civilization in the world, the sword of justice. The Empire of Brazil will support freedom!"

Applauses erupted from the crowd, which had now over 10,000 people. News of the speech would reach the rest of Brazil and the rest of the world very soon, as it was televised. Vargas couldn't step back now, and he knew it.

Taipei, Formosa

It was the early evening, and several dozen Korean soldiers were hard at work screening a Taiwanese neighborhood for terrorists belonging to the Tigers of Taiwan. Three M2 Halftracks, each fitted with Type 92 Heavy Machine Guns roamed the street, every so often stopping to unload a squad of soldiers (5 troops each) who would then proceed to search each building.

"Open up!" A Korean Lt yelled, banging on the door. "No answer, let's go."

Soon one of the soldiers kicked open the door, and the entire squad rushed in. Several screams and a gunshot could be heard, as well the sound of broken glass. A few minutes later, three blindfolded young men were dragged out the front door. Each one of them was lined up and handcuffed, before being shoved into the back of the Halftrack.

"Clear!" The Lt. yelled and then motioned for the driver to go forward to the next house. This process was repeated again and again with each house on the street. Soon the Halftracks began to fill up with handcuffed and blindfolded young Taiwanese.

"We can't fit anymore." The driver looked at the Lt. who was about to load up 5 more captives. "Get ride of them here."

"Very well." The Lt. grabbed his trusty KHI Type 7 Pistol (Nambu) and the ordered his men to place the captives against a wall. They obediently dragged the men to the wall, and forced them all to stand in a line. The Lt. counted to three and then shot each one with one bullet to the head. The five shots rang out throughout the neighborhood, and then everything was quiet again. The soldiers drove the remaining captives off for "questioning".

To: Brazil
From: Korean Confederation

We understand your concern on the matter, but you must be aware that this is war. The Tigers of Taiwan are tenacious, and merciless. We must establish Korean sovereignty over Formosa, and at the moment this requires military force. There will be some unsavory stories that trickle back to you about a abuses. But please remember that this is only temporary. Our military will complete it's mission and life will return to normal... for everybody.

Best,
Kim Il Pak
Korean Foreign Minister
