OOC and Interest: Last Stand (Open zombies MT)

Postby Mt Id » Sun May 24, 2009 10:18 pm

IC

Mmk, time to bring my old zombies back to life. Back on jolt I had a couple of zombie threads that were rather entertaining so I'm reopening them here.

Ok, basically you have:
-Basics: these are your normal, run of the mill L4D zombies
-Brutes: these are way stronger then average zombies with mental function slightly above that of a basic
-Intelligent: these are very weak compared to the Brutes but make up for it with increased intelligence. Have the ability to command the other zombies and can use weapons and retain any human skills they had while living.
-Super Zeds: These are the quintessential perfect zombie. Stronger then a brute with the Brains of an Intelligent. Behind almost every horde you will find a super zed pulling all the strings.

Also, Intelligents and Super Zeds retain the ability to communicate just like their human counterparts. They speak the same language and grammer, and sound just like a human except for a slight change in their voice due to a change in their muscle makeup caused by the virus.

Look at it from a military standpoint you get Super Zeds are the generals, the intelligents are lieutenants, the brutes are tanks, and the basics are your generic, expendable cannon fodder.

Who wants in?

Neither actually. It's more like an infection that is spread through bite. Normally the victims are consumed but in the cases where they are bit and get away, the infection slowly takes over their body. So i guess it would be closer to a saliva transferred virus then anything.

is there a reason there can't be multiple? Not all zombie threads are the same you know...

I'm looking for ideas on how exactly this virus should start. A terrorist attack is kinda worn out and an evil mastermind is just way to old school. Any ideas on how to get the infection rolling in a new way?

Hmm...It could be Alien in origin. Perhaps a meteor or something.

Either that, or a government experiment gone wrong.

Actually the government experiment angle I used in...Zombie Overrun 2 i believe. A rouge element of the government continued research even though they were told to shut it down and it caused a giant outbreak.

Aliens, however, is a new one...

Also a good idea. Who would own the weapon though? Me?

And no need for the parentheses. This is an OOC thread

I say in light of the Swine Flu ordeal that the virus is transferred from some sort of primate. I mean hell, its happened before, look at HIV.

How do you guys like this for an intro? It isn't finished yet but it gives you the basics behind where its gonna come from :D

They had always said don't screw with mother nature. The problem was, no one ever listened. Especially the scientists who needed a break to keep their paychecks coming. Zinum Co. was a company that discovered medicines for various diseases, and when they couldn't discover one they made one up. This time, however, they took it too far.

Down in the tropics
"Hold up! We're not in a race, you know." Phil Greenman, head researcher for Zinum called to their guides. The guides looked back and obeyed. They couldn't keep the annoyed look off of their faces, however, since this was the fifth time this hour Greenman had asked for a break. Greenman had thought it would be a good idea to join this expedition to get him some experience out in the field instead of behind a desk like he had been use to for the past 20 years. Almost as soon as he arrived he regretted his decision. The humidity immediately caused him to start sweating and he hurried inside to the air conditioned remote office of Zinum where he was to meet the rest of his group.

If this wasn't supposedly so groundbreaking I wouldn't have come! Greenman thought to himself as he settled his abundant bulk down on a nearby rock. The guards swore that they saw a crack appear in the solid boulder from the weight. Greenman pulled out his canteen and took a long gulp, which he quickly spat out. "Damn heat. The water is too hot to drink now!" he said to himself which caused him to be rewarded with another disgusted look from the guides but they hid it. They needed the man's money.

And aide stepped up to Greenman. "Here, sir. I packed this one full of ice so that it would remain cold while it melted." he said and handed Greenman another canteen. Greenman snatched the drink and guzzeled a large drink. He removed it from his lips and let out a satisfied sigh. "Good stuff." he said and replaced his canteen with the aide's. "Lets get moving." he said and heaved himself back up. The guides started off and they continued their trek.

After about another hour they reached the point where they had been told they could observe a miracle in action. It was a giant crater with near-vertical walls. Greenman leaned over and looked down. What he saw surprised him to no end. It was a giant pen for what looked like pigs. Ordinary pigs. He turned to his guides with an angry look on his face, "What is this? Some kind of joke?"

The guides quickly spouted off in Spanish trying to defend themselves but Greenman would have none of it. "You brought me all the way out here to see a pig corral? What's the deal?"

The aide stepped forward again. "Sir, they said that they can show it to you if you will let them."

Greenman took a deep breath and motioned for them to continue. The guides nodded and one took his rifle and aimed it at one of the pigs in the crater. He motioned for Greenman to watch what happened and he pulled the trigger. The explosion from the bullet echoed through the jungle and the shot pig was thrown several feet from the force of the bullet. Greenman was unimpressed. "So you can shoot penned up animals. What's the big...deal...?" Greenman slowed to a stop. The pig was getting back up. There was a giant bleeding hole through its throat but it was seemed unperturbed by it. "What the hell?"

One of the guides began speaking in Spanish, the aide translating. "It appears that these pigs are extremely resilient. Not only can they take a shot as you have just seen but there is no trace of any sort of disease or bacteria in them. They have taken in a few pigs for testing and discovered that all forms of harmful microscopic lifeforms are gone.

"Amazing! This is...this is just amazing! We need to get this to the lab for further study at once!" Greenman said and then to the guides "You have earned your pay well. All we need now is a few of these pigs for test subjects." The aide translated and the guides smiled. One of them lowered a loop down into the hole and pulled out a few pigs which they quickly placed into cages they had brought along. The pigs seemed to get more active the closer they came to the humans and one even tried bite a guide but they all wrote it off as mere aggression at being handled by humans. The group headed off with their newly acquired subjects with Greenman whistling all the way.
------------------------------------

Later that night a panther, attracted by the smell of a wounded pig, arrived at the crater. Seeing the near buffet before him, the panther almost salivated. It quickly began its descent to what it imagined would be a fine dinner for it. As it got closer the pig squeals got louder and louder and the pigs pressed up against the wall below where the panther was making its careful way down. The panther paused for a second. This was unusual. Normally they ran away. But it shrugged it off and lept the last few feet and onto the back of one of the pigs. It sank its fangs in and was rewarded with a taste of cold blood, not the warm he had been expecting. Suddenly it felt ITS hide being pierced by herbivore teeth. No sharp edges but plenty of force. Shreads of its skin began to be pulled away, leaving gaping holes. The panther quickly turned from the confident hunter to the terrified prey. It tried to claw its way back to the wall but before it even made it half way back it was born down under the weight of the horde of pigs.

By the morning, not even bones were left.

That's real good in my opinion. I would imagine we would move this to another thread for the actual RP though, correct?

Not sure if I can take part in this chapter, even though it begins in a setting I'm quite fond of.

Anyways, happy memorial day.
