We're getting quite a sign-up list of Trainers, and I feel that we should probably have some sort of base system to ensure that there's some sort of standard being met. There's two options I can see at this juncture:

(1) We have Trainers cull themselves or elect among themselves a roster to determine their numbers, and people can apply themselves into the Trainer group

(2) There's a one post writing test judged by someone or some people to determine the acceptance rate of the Trainers.

Any and all suggestions are welcomed. I want to keep Mentor count low, since a lot of people with bolded teal names seems a bit superfluous, and besides, it's still mucking about in 'testing' area anywho.

Personally I think a good old fashioned RP example does well.

I'm thinking option #2 would be more objective.

Why not have the mentors to Judge a group of potential trainers with a simple RP/writing suggestion, which they feel will display what tey require from a trainer. The mentors can give Jenrak their reccomendations who either says aye or nay.

That seems...a bit elitist, though. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid.

From my own point of view, I don't see why we should have powers over the composition of the Trainers.

Why? Mentors have already shown that they have both skill and the ability to help newcomers with the finer point of NS, and have a strong interest in keeping the program competent and well staffed.

You would also act as a neutral overseer.

There has been protest against the Mentors with that as an argument, so I wouldn't blame him.

Good point, but this is not supposed to be a accept everyone thing is it? It's supposed to be for those who have experience and can teach well...

I think that an RP Sample would be better over both options.

The first one will result in squabbling ("VOTE ME!" "NO ME!" "NO ME!" Three thread's worth of it if you ask for my prediction).
The second is a bad idea as well, because some people, like me, can't just whip out a good post from thin air. And during the test, someone might get writers block and be unable to submit their post before the deadline (Assuming about the deadline)

What we can do is to have people write short stories based on scenarios that we make (very similar to how ESUS does it) to gauge the RPing ability of applicants. I can appoint some Trainers and Mentors to go through this, for fairness.

Am I correct in assuming that people currently on the trainers list will have to go through this process as well?

It'd seem pointless if they didn't TBH.

Wrong. Jenrak was originally going to ask for examples, but he decided against it and went with trust. This is probably why hes now done this ;)
