A Neutral country is one that lacks any adequate casus belli towards the aggressor nation, or otherwise would choose not to fight if hostilities erupted. Because Denmark has absolutely no reason to go to war against you, they're neutral.

In my definition of neutral says that you are neutral when you are not taking part or taking sides in a war and are not included in a war yourself. If you are declared war on then you aren't neutral. We will discuss that at the convention, we can start posting IC arrivals?

Damn rights we'll discuss it. If you invade someone who does not wish to go to war then you are considered the aggressor. If both nations agree to go to war (Such as the case of Russia and Germany in WWI) then your not neutral.

For example it'd be like Germany invading Poland in WWII. You'd definately call Poland Neutral wouldn't you....

Brief Background Of Your Nation:

The South African Republic was formed in 1796, a year after Afrikaner colonists successfully revolted against the Dutch East India Company. During the next century, the republic attracted huge amounts of European immigrants (mostly of Dutch, French, and German descent) and greatly expanded its territory through both diplomacy and war with neighboring African tribes. By 1853, the South African Republic had expanded its borders to cover what we know as South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Botswana.

Blacks living within the borders of the South African Republic were enslaved by their White counterparts during the first century of the Republic, and were not freed until a relatively peaceful abolitionist movement occurred from 1886-1889. Despite gaining citizenship, Blacks were still viewed as second-class citizens and were treated as such. Segregation and race riots were commonplace throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Poor treatment of Blacks continued until 1941, when the South African government finally outlawed segregation and began a nation-wide cultural program promoting racial equality. Over the next few decades, discrimination against Blacks was drastically reduced, and by the late 1970s Blacks had been more or less fully assimilated into South African culture.

The period between 1853-1980 was known as the Age of Peace in the South African Republic due to the lack of any major wars occurring either within its borders or against neighboring Africans. However, the Age of Peace ended in 1980 with the beginning of the Righteous War.

The Commune of Shona, which covers the area of what we know as Zimbabwe, was a communist nation that had been established in 1965 by a coalition of relatively modernized African tribes. The Commune grew quite powerful and influential within 10 years of its founding, and in 1975 workers and farmers in the South African Republic began to demand more rights from their employers and the government. The South African government tried to quell this unrest by enacting widespread anti-communist propaganda throughout the country, painting both the Commune and communism itself as undesirable. The propaganda had a profound effect on the people, and in 1979 the staunchly anti-communist President Jakobus Geldenhuis was elected to power. With overwhelming popular support, President Geldenhuis declared war on the Commune of Shona in 1980, and the Righteous War had begun.

Despite having both a numerical and technological advantage, the war was long and bloody due to the guerilla tactics utilized by Shona forces. However, the war finally ended in 1990 with the surrender of the last few remaining Shona military leaders. As a result, the Commune of Shona was annexed by the South African Republic, and all remaining Shona communist sympathizers were found and executed. The victory over the communists boosted the morale of the republic and caused its people to develop a strong sense of national unity and pride. However, the new unwilling citizens of the republic were not so lucky. Ethnic Shona have been discriminated against for the past 21 years by both Whites and Blacks, and this ethnic and ideological tension has caused a new age of segregation and race riots that continues to this day.

I have already claimed South Africa, but if you'd like you can take Lesotho and play as some sort of separatist faction in my nation. Or you could take some neighboring countries like Namibia or Mozambique, it would be interesting to have some neighbors.
