Well, one of the problems that I personally have with that is that a military of 12 million (more or less) can defend all of Earth, on it's own for the most part.

Oh, sorry, didn't realise :/

Well, in P/MT (and forgive me if this is not answering your question directly), it's best to stick with the pop given to you on your page, because it's one of the fairest ways to start anywhere in P/MT. Yeah, alright, this earth is huge compared to RL Earth, but you were still allocated your own space, so you'll grow into it in time.

I'm sorry if this still isn't answering your question, but I'm struggling to understand what you're asking. If you're asking if it's okay to raise your population in P/MT, no it generally isn't. If you're asking can you control territories like on RL Earth, as Santheres said: You can, but it can be confusing.

Well, I've been RPing using Xani's pop, and no ones said anything. In fact, I've seen countless people make their own pops, even as Xanixi.

Either way, my question remains: not can I use real territories, I know I can, but is it in bad taste to use all of Earth?

1) Fair enough, but I can tell you it's generally frowned upon by the whole community. In groups, however, it can work.

2) And that's already been answered: No it isn't in bad taste, but it does get a bit confusing for some. And it does depend on who your roleplaying with as well, as opinions vary. :)

Hey, I have a similar inquiry :)

I do not use Earth's map, since I made my own. However, it is roughly as large as RL Earth(the total dry land are, anyways). My IC reason is that I RP as 27 different nations, banded together under a political, economic, and military union.

I do try to RP them as realistically as possible. I have some social issues because of my melting pot society, a domestic terrorist organization that seeks to sever the ties between each nation, heavily polluted areas because of industry, entire slightly irradiated cities as a result of a previous nuclear war, which are now filled with homeless(they mostly settle the slums furthermost from ground zero).

Is this acceptable?

The only thing I could tell you is that you should ask more compelling, relevant questions. Qualifying the dumbest person wouldn't even really be possible, and at best, it's a question that begs for joke answers.

Please do note that, in MT, using a population larger than what your nation page says is frowned upon, no matter how many nations you claim to be made up of. So, as long as you keep to that population or lower, then yes, everything seems legit.

IMHO as long as you don't try to use it to "get away" with stuff.

By that I'll expand with an example. Aland (example names) is a peaceful state, and Xterminatorz, RPed by the same person, is an aggressive one. Aland has a dispute with Othertopia, RPed by another person, and shortly afterwards Xterminatorz nukes Othertopia, the two states having no prior disagreements. Xterminatorz is naturally nuked back, but Aland claims that because they weren't involved it would be unjustified to take action against them.

That wouldn't really happen since the military is unified. Though, for a war, not all members send troops. The most I would ever be able to RP with is 1 million personnel out of the 5 million, and that's if the situation is dire.

I can be pretty authoritarian if I put my mind to it, apparently.

Please do note that, in MT, using a population larger than what your nation page says is frowned upon, no matter how many nations you claim to be made up of. So, as long as you keep to that population or lower, then yes, everything seems legit.

Oh no, I don't pump up my population. I use the one in the page. I just wanted to know if using such a large landmass was ok.

In my opinion (as the opinions can differ) If you're doing it because you want a low population density, in other words want your people really spread out, then I don't think anything is wrong with it necessarily.
