I'd like to know what the view is on switching between tech levels (in both this forum and the other diplomacy forums) depending on what the thread is, by using "voices" that fit with the thread. Different threads, both mine and others, would be spoken in with the "voice" that fit with the level of the thread. I actually have several levels thought out:


Past: Switzerland with 1950s tech.

Present: Like modern-day America in terms of power but with steroids.

Future-1: Fledgling space nation, think Ender's Game.

Future-2: Enterprise-era Federation

Future-3: TOS Federation. Also, this one advances as it goes along, at a rate of 2 NS years per 1 rl day. The others don't. I'm also considering creating project lists for this era to signify advancement.

You can RP however the hell you want.

I do exactly what you described. In my opinion, NS countries should never exist in a vacuum, they should always be influenced by their past, their neigbhors, their neighbors' pasts, their past neighbors, etc. etc. etc.
Except for times when Lolzieristan was controlled by other nations (in which case I have alternates to portray them), I RP as this account. Napoleonic PT to 20th century PT to right now.

Perhaps, depending on your definition of energy shielding. Most people say to think of PMT as anywhere between 2020 and 2100. Generally, if you have more than just astronauts on any planet other than Earth, I'd say you're FT. The general definition of FT is a nation in which space travel is routine, and especially if some form of travel exists for leaving the solar system.

So PMT typically means rail guns, satellite weapons, combat drones, and stuff like that. I'd be concerned with energy shields, and I'd say nothing more than prototype weapons that Command managed to scare up from "the boys at the lab". You'd have to be pretty special to have one, and they'd probably be even less effective than the ones in Halo or whatever.

Before I suggest any alternatives, is this for personnel, vehicles, buildings...

I can explain how the ships stay in the air, but I'm not sure about the shields.

Not people. A bunch of furry animals that are on my land. Every time I try this I get "it spelt wrong" and It gets so bad I have to throw a perfectly good idea in the trash because people will just not let me do it.

My spelling is fine, they just can't get that my first language is Afrikaans.

I don't want to call a mod every time they do that.

Wrong forum. Enter you email adress in settings, click the WA link, click apply and in a few hours you will get an email from them saying youve been accepted into the WA, click the link they give you and you are in the WA! Only do it with one nation though. Having more than one in the WA is against the rules.

You can join the World Assembly by clicking "apply to join" on this page, though it is worth noting that you must have a email address attached to your nation for your application to be accepted. You can add an email to your nation via your settings page.

I agree, because WA membership doesn't come into the roleplaying here. They're not like NATO where you can yell for help and all 30,000 of them or whatever number it is will show up. It's not even like the UN where they'll discuss every war/invasion in their forums like it's a major threat to world peace. I don't participate, so I don't know all that much, but trust me, no one's ever said "You can't invade me, I'm in the WA!" WA figures more into the game section of NS, not into the RPing here on II.

I'd say it depends on the power of the railgun, though I'm not really sure.

How hard would it be to build a moon "town"?
It would mostly consist of underground rooms and connection tubes with a few surface structures.
Minimal underground facilities would be Material storage, Power generation, H2O recycling, Food growth stations (barley, mushrooms, beets, potatoes, ect), Atmosphere scrubbing, and of course Living quarters. Perferably able to contain 50+ people indefinatly, with the capability to expand as needed over time.
