ooc: if you like the post, please post your comments below so I know if it is something you want to see again...

<Intro Music - The Chase>

Michael Ross:

From the High Karshka Mountains off the Great Northland Sea, I bid you all Good Evening, Good Morning, Good Afternoon where ever you may be across these many, many time zones... and let me assure you, we cover them all. Stretching from The Ryou Black Islands in the west, east to the coasts of Aissur, South into Thrashia, all the way to the North Pole and world-wide on the Internet, you have just connected to the world's #1 most listened to late-night talk show...This is "Into the Unknown", I'm Michael Ross.

Next hour: Researcher William Thomas talks about the hazardous health effects associated with the use of cell phones and wireless devices. He believes he has irrefutable proof people are being subjected to "electromagnetic smog" invisibly spread by wireless routers, portable phones, and other devices. Just a two-minute conversation on a cell phone causes the blood-brain barrier to open, making one susceptible to neuron damage that might lead to Alzheimer's, cancer, and "instant aging". Instant aging. I guess the women in our listening audience will be listening intently to what our guest has to say on that subject, and let me tell you, I'm interested in hearing this myself. He also conducted studies that he says proves children who are using cell phones may be unable to mentally function by the time they are 30! Migraines, brain cancer, changes in personality, and aggressive behavior are all associated with exposure to cell phones and wireless devices, and the reported incidents of these issues has risen in lock-step with the increasing use of devices that transmit electromagnetic radiation. Heavy stuff indeed.

Great time on my small four-day vacation, seeing family and friends and just hang around doing not much of anything. But I got to tell you last weekend I was in a little night club in Ganosia and they had this salt water tropical fish tank there. I was mesmerized by it, as there was a little fish in there and I need your help. There was a little fish in there called 'Pickles', that's what they called it, and I think he was one of these puffer fishes or blow fishes. I don't know exactly what he was but he puffed up and he had these little spines all over him and then he puffed back down again. But I tell you what, I don't know if you remember seeing that movie/cartoon with the late Don Knots called "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" where he was a fish. "Pickles" had the face of Don Knots, I kid you not! He had bright blue eyes and was the most incredible thing I have ever seen on a fish. He wasn't that big, he was about four inches long and he'd come right up to the side of the aquarium and he'd look at you with this face. Absolutely incredible. So if you know exactly what kind of fish he is, would you let me know because I'm going to go get one and I'm going to keep it in my office here in Zostar.

In New Crytyra get this, people without a working Kilometer-tax-meter in their cars, once the system is introduced in 2012, face six months in jail or a fine up to 12,000 Universal Credits. People caught disabling the meter can be jailed up to 4 years and can be fined up to 50,000 Universal Credits. The drafted law states the citizens themselves are responsible for the meters and defects must be reported within eight hours and repairs carried out within three weeks. The Government agreed to replace the road tax with a kilometer tax meter using a GPS system fitted in all vehicles so those who use public roads more, pay more for their upkeep.

The a famous military design company in the Ryouese Black Islands expects to triple it's annual sales in the next three to five years as demand for it's military hardware soars in the global recession and it is not alone. All over the world, sales of military hardware and ammunition is rising amid concerns of rising unemployment and economic collapse of some nations will cascade into others. Fears of terrorism and attacks by neighboring nations have also helped to lift the demand for military hardware.

Lawmakers in Greater Americania are blasting new guidelines from a government task force that recommends against routine mammograms for women under 50, questioning if they are tantamount to healthcare rationing in the fight against the number two cancer killer in that nation.

Health officials in Greto are saying a very popular variety of heart-burn medications sold world wide can interfere with the blood-thinner, Plavix, a drug taken by billions of people the world over to help them reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. The Health Officials said the stomach soothing drugs cut in half the blood thinning effects of Plavix. There are many brand name heart burn medications which have this effect, so talk to your doctor immediately if you take Plavix.

Cabickstan scientists have uncovered heart disease in 3,500 year old mummies! This suggests the risk factor behind heart disease is not just modern in nature. Heart disease is currently thought to be linked to such modern factors such as smoking, unhealthy diets consisting of saturated fats, salts, and processed sugars. Even unhealthy lifestyles. Scientists from Cabickstan however discovered that a Pharaoh who ruled from 1213 B.C. to 1203 B.C. had be afflicted by a thickening of the arteries due to a diet of high fat and salt. Humm, I think my days of eating potato chips just ended after reading that news story!

Now get this. Insects with tiny little brains may be as intelligent as much bigger animals and may even have consciousness. Having a brain the size of a pinhead does not necessarily make them less bright. Biological scientists in the Osthia have been doing simulations using large supercomputers which show that consciousness could be generated in neural circuitry tiny enough to fit inside an insect brain. Their model suggests the counting ability could also be achieved which requires only a few hundred nerve cells and a few thousand is sufficient to make an animal, or an insect, a conscious being other than an automated living robot.

A former Bardust 'highschool' student has finally gotten around to returning two overdue library books. After 50 years that is. They included a cashier's cheque for $1000 Universal Credits to cover any outstanding fines. The head librarian has public stated the former student wishes to remain anonymous and praises the return of the books so others may enjoy them. The books returned were 'The Catcher in the Rye' and 'Great Expectations'.

It is a myth, they say, that women have different heart attack symptoms than men according to Malaysii researchers whose study was presented at the World Health Conference yesterday. Their ten year study shows their is no gender differences in heart attack symptoms after studying nearly 10,000 patients evenly split between gender-lines who were at risk of or have had a heart attack in the past year. It is a commonly held belief that men and women feel the effects of a heart attack differently, however Doctor Anna A. Trundle of the Malaysii Heart Foundation said "Heart disease is an equal opportunity killer. In 2003, government health officials did suggest that many women never had chest pains and their symptoms were just not as predictable as men. Doctor Trundle's research is undergoing peer review but early indications are that her study is correct. Congratulations Doctor!

Is it your dream to win the lottery? Well be careful what you wish for. A 61 year old Revea man bought a soda drink, a pack of cigarettes, and a lottery ticket last Tuesday from a local store. The store clerk who served the man said "the old guy would come in every other day and buy the same thing almost like clockwork" for the last ten years. Tuesday night, the man received the shock of his life while he was on a phone call with his daughter who lived across town. While they were talking the local news station reported the winning lotto numbers on air. The daughter reported her father had went silent in the middle of a sentence, and started repeating over and over softly "I won". She then heard a thump and was not able to get her father to respond to her increasingly frantic prompting. The woman then called local law enforcement to do a welfare check on her father. The officers found the man prone on the floor with the lotto ticket grasped tightly in his left hand and possibly a smile on his face. The autopsy report states the man died of a massive shock and have ruled the death natural. While the daughter is the only living relative and will legally be entitled to the full lotto winning she stated yesterday that if she would give the money up if it would give her father back to her.

Now get this, a parachuter survived a 2000 foot fall without a scratch after his parachute failed to open and he landed in a plowed field. The 53 year old from Warhaven jumped from a small single engine aircraft Sunday only to find his main and reserve parachute failed to open and he plunged screaming to the ground. Fellow skydivers rushed him to a local hospital only to be shocked when the doctors released him half an hour later stating they could find no injuries to the man. A hospital spokes person said it is amazing the man is even alive. A video which was filmed by a fellow skydiver was uploaded to the popular video website Youtube yesterday purportedly shows the man falling towards the ground and as he grows closer to the ground, you can hear him screaming. The video also shows groups of people trying to assist the man to a private van which rushed him to the local hospital. Amazing stuff.

Astronomers are puzzling hard over a powerful cosmic explosion that appears to have detonated in a region of empty space! It's very far away from any galaxy and some are speculating it may have been the death-cry of a star that was born from debris strewn out from a past galactic dust-up between two galaxies or a star flung away as two galaxies joined together. One Hundred and Sixty spacecraft, operated by different nations, orbiting around earth and mars detected a powerful volley of gamma rays that lasted about a minute. Such explosions called "Long Gammaray Bursts" are thought to be caused by massive stars exploding and their cores collapsing into black holes but this one came from an area where there was virtually nothing! How can that be? Exploding star or exploding alien weapons? You decide.

Mount Hades, Noravea's largest volcano is poised for a major eruption sometime in the next few weeks, scientists warn. Authorities last week evacuated twelve nearby towns just as a precaution after magma pressure started quickly building at the volcano's mouth. The +16,000 foot volcano is preparing to generate, in days or weeks, a great eruption.

Hundreds of rogue black holes may be roaming around the Milky Way waiting to engulf stars and planets that simply cross their paths. Greal astronomers believe that these intermediate-mass black holes, as they call them, are invisible to the naked eye except in rare instances and have been spawned by mergers of black holes inside globular clusters - swarms of stars held together by their mutual gravity. These black holes are unlikely, I like how they use that word...unlikely, to pose a threat to our solar system.

Listen to this story, a North Defese couple who had been happily married for three years and have two children recently had their marriage annulled by the country's high court and their children placed in a state-run care facility. Why did this happen? Well as it turns out, the couple was unaware that when they wed they were half-siblings. They both had been fathered by the same man, though the woman had been given up for adoption as a child by her mother and she never knew who her father was or that she had a half-brother. The couple had met during a New Years party thrown by mutual friends and they had dated for two years before marrying after the birth of their first child. When the husband's biological mother fell ill to cancer and required a bone-marrow transplant both the man and woman submitted samples of their tissue to check for compatibility. When doctors ran the DNA tests, that is when they discovered that the couple were related. Since North Defese law forbids immediate family member to marry or have children, the couple's marriage was immediately annulled. Since the children are already born, healthy and without any signs of disability or genetic defects, State officials have decided to allow them to live, however they have been remanded into the care of the state until they are adults. The couple is currently fighting for the return of the children. No word if how they feel about this disturbing turn of events or they are going to fight or accept the annulment.

Well, this story out of Phonencia has many people sitting up and taking notice. Phonencia environmental officials today announced that three dead wild crows were found infected with avian influenza in that country's capital city. Following positive test result for the highly pathogenic H5-N1 strain of the bird flu virus, officials are conducting a test on the wild bird population inside and around the city. No confirmed cases of human infection have been reported. A top government official stated that while this is unwelcome news, they have always stated that Phonencia is at a consent low level of risk and the population should not panic over this news.

San Lumen astronomers announced that a giant cloud of gas is speeding towards a collision our milky way galaxy and when it hits within forty million years it may set off a spectacular burst of stellar fireworks. The leading edge of this cloud is already interacting with gas from our galaxy and contains enough hydrogen gas to make a million stars the size of our sun and is speeding towards our galaxy at over 150 miles per second.

In Ganos Lao, a man angered after a dispute with his wife has confessed to throwing his four young children off a bridge. Authorities are looking for the children's bodies now and the man is being charged with four counts of Capital Murder.

In Alfegos, a man who believed he bore the 'mark of the beast', used a circular saw to cut off his right hand then he cooked it in a microwave after which he called 911. The man was stated as having no drugs or alcohol present in his body when he was tested at the hospital. Surprisingly, authorities have stated they are going to check to see if he had any mental illness. Check to see if he had mental illness? Surely cutting off your hand and cooking it in the microwave is certainly something all sane people do...*sighs*

In British Kuwait two men wheeled a dead man through the streets in an office chair to a check cashing store, where they tried to cash the dead man's social security check before being arrested on fraud charges. David O'Hare 18 and James Delea 17 pushed the body from the British Kuwait apartment they were sharing to a place called 'RED-E-CASH' about a block away. Witnesses say they saw the men pushing the chair with the dead man flopping from side to side, it's almost like that 'Weekend at Bernies' movie. The men left his body outside the store then went inside and tried to cash his $355 check. Both men tested positive for marijuana.

OK, circle your calendars for those of you living in Kurona because at the end of September, 25-26 I will be at the AM and HAM radio Talk-Fest sponsored by the national amature radio club, so come on by. I've done this over the last couple of years and we've had a great time, broadcasting our show from the convention. It's a great nation and lovely people. You really should stop by and visit if you have the time.

Producing bio-fuels from a fast growing grass delivers vast savings on carbon dioxide emissions compared with petroleum according to a large study by a team of Xanicea researchers. They found that switch grass derived ethanol produced 540% more energy than was required to manufacture the bio-fuel. 1 acre of land planted with this grass could, on the average, deliver 320 barrels of bio-ethanol. They published this in the proceedings of the International Academy of Sciences.

A Ganos Lao man was rushed to the hospital after finding a dead mouse in his bottle of beer! He had food poisoning. He said he opened the bottle, took a few gulps and the taste was very strange and when he looked closer, he saw the mouse floating in his beer. The beer producer, located in Zathganastan, is making no comment at this time but is expected to pay out a large settlement to the man to keep this out of court.

Another story from Ganos Lao, Doctors in from that country say that if you follow 4 principles for a healthy life style will live, on average, 14 years longer than their counter-parts. Doctors found that not smoking, exercising, drinking in moderation and eating five servings of fruits and vegtibles a day can have a huge impact on your life expectancy. They said smoking had the single biggest impact on people's health, with smokers 77% more likely to die before others.

Sad news for those of you who are in the paranormal field. Sarah Evestad, 81 years old and one of the world's leading EVP researchers and founder of the International Association of Electronic Voice Phenomena has died after a two week illness. She passed away in her Voltronica country home surrounded by friends and family. You will be missed.

Big trouble in Maryginia. In fact I had to call my guest to be sure he had phone access still and power because about a million people in Maryginia do not right now. Howling straight-line winds of sixty miles per hours and gusts up to eighty...Eighty! Pelting rain driving visibility on the roadways to near zero, and quarter-sized hail pummeled a large area of Maryginia earlier today as a massive line of super-cell thunderstorms, the worst seen in over fifty years, slammed their way across the country's mid-section. These thunderstorms have produced over thirty separate tornadoes! Dubbed the "Tornadocain", this massive tornado producing series of super-cell thunderstorms has the circulation characteristics of a hurricane! The storms have mostly dissipated though scattered storms are still causing further damage to the country. Our best wishes to all those affected by the storm.

Hypparchia....Yes, Hypparchia is in the news again. This time Grammaton Aerospace & Atomics have developed a new class of microsized nuclear reactors that are designed to power individual apartment buildings or city blocks. The new reactor measures only 20 feet by 6 feet could change everything for small, remote communities, small businesses or even a group of neighbors who are simply feed up with power companies and want more control over their own energy needs. Listen to this, the 200kW GAA-designed reactor is engineered to be fail-safe, totally automatic, won't overheat and unlike conventional nuclear reactor, the new micro-reactor uses no control rods to initiate the reaction. The new revolutionary technology uses reservoirs of liquid lithium-six, that is an isotope that is effective in absorbing neutrons. The Lithium-Six reservoirs are connected to a vertical tube that fits down into the reactor core. The whole process is self-sustaining and can last up to forty years and produces electricity for about Five Universal Standard Cents per Kilowatt hour. This is about half to a quarter...or more....the cost of standard grid energy provided in most countries in the world. The GAA is saying they expect to install the first reactor with in the month and will begin to market the new reactor the world over in late 2011.

You know, I thought they had released all the classified files detailing UFO activity in Solont, but low and behold the Solont government is soon to release previously classified details regarding hundreds of reported sightings of UFOs. The "Sunday Telegraph" said on Sunday...surprisingly *Chuckles* this upcoming fall, the defense ministry is going to release to the general public about one hundred and sixty five files of alleged UFO sightings. Nothing shocking, I guess they say but very very very interesting. Good reason to have Nick Popel on again, I'm sure.

What a disaster out there in New Viet. Over four hundred homes sat in up to eight feet of water yesterday following a canal rupture on the Laochi river as a cold snap spread sheets of ice over yards, streets and hindering efforts to get the water to drain away. An unexpected artic air-mass swooped down the country's eastern boarder bringing with it record-breaking low temperatures with driving snow and ice catching the country by surprise. A canal bank gave way as low temperatures froze flood-gate control gears that were left un-protected while they were being worked on prior to the storm. The frozen controls prevented the automated flood-gate from releasing backed up water. No one has been hurt, thank god, but there have been a few traffic accidents and authorities are unsure if the home damaged caused by this flood to individual homes can be repaired before winter sets in.

Now this is a story that really bothers me. A jump in ATM fraud has apparently lead the National Bank of Darmen to slash the maximum amount of cash available to it's customers from their accounts. The new cap on cash kicked out by the company's ATMs began last week after what NBD calls "Isolated fraudulent activities" found around the country. The bank with 510 branch offices and over 21,000 ATMs will not say how many customers are affected by this or how much money was involved. But what bothers me is the control, the control over you being able to get your money from a bank. Now if the ATM systems aren't working, then they may have to come up with something better but that's a pretty dangerous precedent.

Now a warning. If you have any young children in the room you may want to turn the radio off for about a minute because this next story is deeply disturbing... Alright, I must say that this story sickens me to think this happened in real life and not some horror movie. In the Sabaneros slum of Port Galloway, a man killed his girlfriend and then fileted and cooked parts of her before calling police to simple tell them what he was doing. 25 year old, Lee Christopher Mclane, called the emergency services and simply told the emergency dispatcher that he had killed his 21 year old girlfriend, and was boiling her body parts at his mother's home. No reason has been given by authorities on why he killed her, cook her, or call police and admit the crime while he was still carving her up. News outlets in San-Anastasia report the general populas is shocked and horrified by this crime. Lee is being held without bail while he waits trial.

Ten's of Millions of airline passengers will soon be flying on jets outfitted with anti-missile systems such as flares and chaff and new laser jammers as part of a new Slovitrea government test aimed at thwarting terrorists armed with shoulder fired surface-to-air missiles or hostile nations that use advanced air-to-air or surface-to-air missiles. Hundreds of passenger airliners that fly multiple daily national and international routes will receive the anti-missile system prior to the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday according to the Ministry of Defense. The jets will fly with the defensive package mounted on the belly of the aircraft between the wheels. The package works with sensors mounted all over the aircraft that can detect the signature from active, passive, and heat seeking missiles. Depending on the type, the package may deploy flares, chaff, or the new laser which shoots it's beam at the missile to destroy the heat-seeking sensor which will, per the Slovitrea's defense ministry, send the missiles veering harmlessly off course. I would think missiles would have backup sensors in case of failure, and I don't think that a missile can veer harmlessly off course because once it misses, no-one knows where it will go or land.

Hiring tapered off and then plummeted last month in Himeu, driving the nation's unemployment rate up to a ten-year high of 11.66% simply fanning fears now over recession. Employers last month added the fewest jobs to their payrolls in over fifteen years. Economists predict that the upcoming holiday sales will be sharply down from last year. Retailers are preparing themselves for dismal sales as the consumers tighten their grip on their wallets.

A soldier from the nation of Cyrupe who suffered years of stabbing pain in his stomach, he had incredible pains, has had a four inch needle removed from his stomach! The needle remained in his stomach for sixteen years after it was forgotten when army doctors saved his life in a battlefield operation. He had been seriously injured during a war fought many years before and incredibly the mistake was never discovered until recently despite frequent trips to doctors to complain about the problem. In the end, after fifteen years of visits, a new doctor ordered an x-ray of his midsection, which revealed the needle in his stomach. He is now thirty-six years old and a high-ranking non-commissioned officer. When asked if he was going to pursue legal recourse against the doctors or the Army he had this to say, "Normally, I would blame the doctors for the mistake that they had made, but then at the time they saved my life when they operated on me, so I will not be taking the matter further." The military covered the cost of surgery and reimbursed him for the many years of doctor visits he had paid for out of pocket. How about that? A guy decides that he is not going to sue and a military that takes care of it's own. That doesn't happen very often in this world.

One of the world's richest men and international software tycoon...bigger than Bill Gates, made a prediction today from his offices in Rainara that the way people interface with computers would radically change over the next five years. The keyboard and mouse would gradually give way to more intuitive technologies, in particular he said touch, vision and speech interfaces would gradually replace the current mouse/keyboard combo. Just imagine someday sitting back and just thinking commands to your computer, and it may work out that this technology would be released in the next five years.

Wolfenium's chief justice is wondering who sent them a severed finger in the mail. The package containing the finger and a letter addressed to the chief justice was opened at the ministry's mail center. They think it may have come from a 57 year old woman and former hair salon owner who cut off part of her own finger and sent it to the justice. No word yet on why this was done.

Monday turned out to be the most popular day of the year for couples to file for divorce the world over. Researchers out of Saintrabina conducted a study divorce statistics of over three thousand countries around the world which proved Monday is the most popular day to officially declare a marriage over. Friday turned out to be the most popular day to finish up the divorce paperwork. Researchers also conducted a survey of all married couples from the same 3,000 countries found that in the world today 1-in-5 marriages are at the breaking point, with only 1-in-50 marriages report both people are happy. A study of unmarried couples shows that 1-in-10 unmarried couples are ready to break up with 1-in-16 couples are completely happy.

A 10 year old Oterro boy super glued his hand to his bed frame to avoid returning to school after a national holiday. He said he thought that if he was glued to the bed his parents couldn't make him go to school, he didn't want to go back because the holiday's were so much fun. I'm not sure he is ever going to live that down.

A missing hiker in Beldonia, was found only after a drifter accused of murdering her lead police to her body. Apparently she had died from a blunt-force trauma to the head and then was decapitated after her death. Crime scene investigators cleared the man of any involvement in her death as evidence proved she had slipped from a trail high above and bounced hundreds of feet down the mountain side. A sharp out-cropping of rocks is what served to decapitate her. The man is still being charged with not reporting the accident to authorities just after he discovered the body and prosecutors are pushing for the maximum punishment in this case.

Next up Researcher William Thomas talks about the affects of your digital devices on your health! Stay tuned.

Karshkovia wrote:Now this is a story that really bothers me.

Darmen Times story on Incident
ATM fraud linked to Conservative Party
The IG-2 of Darmen released a report that linked ATM fraud with the Conservative Party. This is the second time the Conservative Party has been accused of fraud, the last time being in the elections. The IG-2 said that they would investigate further into the incident.

This is the third incident of major fraud in Darmen, and the IG-2 said that it was working on creating a special Anti-Fraud Unit. The former Republican Party already disbanded due to election fraud, and the legitimacy of Conservative Party member Chick Handri, the Prime Minister, is being questioned due to the voter fraud in the last elections. It now appears that this incident of fraud may lead to the Conservative Party being disbanded.

With the Parliamentry Elections in Darmen about to get underway, the Rightest Coalition, which the Conservatives are a part of, is in need of a legitimate Party that does not partake in fraud.

Darmen Prime Minister Chick Handri was not available for questioning.

ooc: I invite anyone who is interested in having your nation featured on "Into the Unknown" please write a simple report on an incident that has occurred in your country and 'telegram' it to Karshovia. Anything that you think is relevant to your country is open. If you hear or devise of a silly, heroic, strange or historic news event for your country even if it's just a response to a news story here on nationstates or you wish to bring attention to an intra/international event or war your country is a part of, again the door is wide open.
