OOC: I'm not going to wait a week. Going from Herrebrugh (the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg) to Free Tristania would take even more and I also RP'ed that in a day.

Aboard the 's Lands Schip van Riebeeck, a carrier of Second Fleet there was a briefing before the invasion began. General Cole, who was in overall command of the Free Tristanian troops and who played an advisory role to the Herrebrugh Dutch sat down. Like many in high command, he too belonged to the English-speaking minority, but his Free Tristanian Dutch was nonetheless excellent and he walked up to the screen which showed the theatre of operation and with a ruler be showed the areas:

Die Nederlanders lande op Juno - en myne here .. wat is die prys, gereserveer vir die mariniers om 5.00 in die oggend met die order om die hoogte rondom Valsbaai in te neem. Julle kry hiervoor die beskikking oor vuurbare enterhaken wat dus om die rotspunten die prikkeldraadversperringen op die rots moet word geskiet sodat daar oor na bo kan word geklim.

Die meteorologiese diens het ons sopas verwittigd oor die weerstoestande en wat sy nie goed nie. Daar word binne 'n paar dae'n tropiese storm verwag dus ons het 24 uur om die operasie te voltooi.

Vuursteun word verleen deur die oppervlakskepe en deur die Tomcats van die van Riebeeck. Is daar vrae?

(Gentlemen.. it's on. A short moment ago have the gentlemen of 12 Parachute Brigade have made contact with the local defence force which has informed us that we will encounter no resistance. In spite of this I will have to ask you to remain alert as it may not necessarily be the units of the defence force that will cause problems but maybe hidden Ucrumbian troops. This is a big island with a lot of bays and the small defence force does not have the means to control and defend the beaches.

That's why I think that the time has come to focus on those beaches and allocate them in the way as was decided before. These are the four beaches where the first wave will be landing and starting it's advance: Sword, Gold, Juno and Silver. 20 Fuseliers Brigade, which now has become part of 8th Corps will disembark at Gold Beach, starting off at 6.30 in the morning. 11th Corps will be landing on the Silver at the same time and 13th at Sword.

The Dutch will land at Juno.. and gentlemen, they get the price: Especially reserved for the Marines are the heights above Valsbaai which they have to take at 5.00 in the morning. You will be receiving grappling hooks which are to be fired around the rocks and the barbed wires on top so you people can climb up and take the heights.

The Met Office has informed us about the weather forecasts and they are not good. There will be a tropical storm here within a couple of days and we will have just 24 hours to conclude the operation.

General Roma Vanya Markovic, an ex-Soviet corporal who left his home country and rose in Herrebrugh's military ranks, was the commander of the Herrebrughian operations in Free Tristania and Ucrumba. He had a very serious look on his face when he spoke, with his thick Russian accent,

"I think that this operation has a high chance of succeeding. But we do need to take precautions against the storm. Coats and such. I do however have a small suggestion for the name of our beachhead: I would like Juno to be called sickle in stead. If you don't mind, of course."

The revelation that artillery support would be given to the Keralians would be a boon to their defence against the 'tyrannical marauders', as the Keralian government had termed the enemy. Gouwe had returned to the front lines after a couple of hours to survey the construction of defences-and anybody who knew him would see that he was noticeably pleased. The paratroopers were diligently preparing themselves to meet the enemy advance-several strongpoints, concealed as much as possible from aerial reconnaissance, were stationed on elevated areas-with luck, enemy UAVs and fighter jets would not see anything more than an extension of the jungle. These strongpoints were meant to be the fallback point for defensive operations against substantial armoured or mechanised formations-the piecemeal fortifications that the bulk of the paratroopers were constructing would be enough to repel a substantial infantry attack, but armoured or mechanised units would probably tear through it.

The paratroopers who weren't building fortifications-and there were only a few of them-were cleaning their weapons. The bulk of the weapons were Anemonian-designed AR3R1 rifles, alongside a few AR3R1 Carabinyr /mod KRL weapons, which had been specifically built by Anemonian State Armaments for the Republic of Keralia. The AR3 series of weapons had already proved their worth against the NFLK-now all that remained to be seen was if they could hold out against modern, mechanised opponents.

The troopers began identifying areas that would be ideal for armoured advances-firm, flat ground that wasn't boggy or too soft-and began planting copious amounts of anti-tank mines in those areas, alongside some anti-personnel mines. The bulk of their AP mines, however, they placed in the areas in between-areas where infantry could go without too much trouble, while vehicles might sink into the soft ground or mud due to their weight.

Mortars were set up behind the Keralian lines-the only real support they had actually brought. These were placed primarily in and around the strongpoints-areas from which they could most effectively direct their firepower.

All that the Keralians were waiting on now was the enemy.

Dit doen ons nie nog 'n keer, ook nie as dit sleg is vir die moreel, want'n zeezieke mlitair stel by 'n landing niks voor. Daar kan selfs baie doodmaak deur val indien 'n landing sou plaasvind as daar vyandlik weerstand is."

Another piece of advise for all those participating in the operation. I have noticed that just before the Robbeneiland landings a hearty meal was cooked for the men, before they, in stormy weather, went ashore. We are not going to do it again, not even when it is bad for morale, a soldier that has been afflicted by seasickness does not standing a fighting chance when landing. A lot of them can get killed if there would be landing while an enemy force is present.)

Robbeneiland, Main Beaches, 15th Army Temporary Base
9th of June 2011
11:46 P.M.

The ten thousand or so men whom had been living at the temporary base at Robbeneiland had well served during their time acting as peace keeping soldiers, supporting the Free Tristanians. In total, only two men were Killed In Action by Rebels. Their losses were well spent, because only two days later the opposition began to die out. A total of some odd two hundred tanks had been landed, and around fifty transportation vehicles. As the order to prepare to move was given out, the vehicles, artillery cannons and SAM units were the first to board the landing crafts, moving towards the two waiting Amphibious Docking Ships where they would be kept alongside their crew, whom were inside them.

Within two hours, the entire load of troops, vehicles, temporary buildings and spare weapons had been loaded into the Fleet of some odd twenty ships (one large super carrier, two Amphibious Docking Ships, the rest being divided between Destroyers, Frigates, Corvettes and one Minesweeper. This is excluding two Merchant Navy ships). Every trace of the G.N.F. being there had been carefully wiped away, leaving the area as clean as they had found it, maybe even a bit better noticing the degree of dumped rubbish on the beach they had to clear away in order to set up camp.

The Marines were, however, not being kept on the Amphibious Docking Ships only. They were also ordered to stay (in Squads) in the Destroyers and Frigates whom had free spaces. This allowed the already large Fleet to not need to use four or more Amphibious Assault Ships, which saved a lot of escort ships from needing to enter the mission. The large Fleet began to pull away from the area they had been sitting in, beginning to head Southwards towards the Free Tristanian Colony, only the highest ranking officers fully knew the real intentions of the Fleet: provide backup to the Free Tristanians at West-Eylandt, alongside a foreign force.

Following the advice of the Tristanians, the cooks working in the galley of the VMS Victorie immediatly got orders to start baking patat (Chips, or fries) from the potatoes in the storage compartment. They also started making mayonnaise and ketchup (also known as tomatensaus or tomato sauce in Herrebrugh). As the good news spreaded around the ship, the cantine became flooded with people.

Then the speakers sparked on:

"Dames en heren van het Volksleger, de Volksmarine en het Volksluchtwapen. Vandaag eten jullie goed. Morgen moeten jullie vechten. Vechten tegen de autoritaire fascistische honden van Oecromba. Als wij gewonnen hebben, zullen wij wéér goed eten. Chique, zoals onze Franse zuiderburen het noemen. Trés Chique. Nu, eet. Eet goed. Jullie zullen het nodig hebben."

"Ladies and gentlemen of the People's Army, People's Navy and the People's Airforce. Today, you eat well. Tomorrow, you will fight. Fight against the authoritarian fascist dogs of Ucrumba. And when we enter their cities as victors, we will eat well again. Chique, as our French southern neighbours call it. Trés Chique. Now, eat. Eat well. You'll need it."

The Free Tristanians dined simple, including General Cole, who just got a bowl of rice, some fish and tea. Enough to fill the stomach, but not to cause sea sickness when the shit would hit the fan.
During the night a couple of planes came over, Free Tristanian Naval Aviation Services, that scanned the coast while the first Free Tristanians were gathering on the decks, waiting for the Herrebrugh Dutch to go ashore. One pushed his comrade against the shoulder when one of planes flashed it's lights:

"Wat beteken dit?"
His comrade looked at it: "Sê ken jy geen morse? Dit is die V. .. V van Vryheid of victorie."

It was the sign of the Herrebrugh Dutch to come into action. Only a couple of seconds later the Tomcats opened fire on the cliffs overlooking the beach in order to make sure that whatever was hidden up there would have a very bad time. A couple of missiles were fired and the the rocks were sprayed with bullets. It was just after 5 'o clock in the morning.

Defcon Merlin was announced across speakers across the country and all remaining remenants of the Ucrumban military prepared for war.

So far, the deteriorating weather had meant that it was a better idea to let the blockade fight the weather rather than the limited defensive forces. They werent suffering too badly as the country has large oil reserves and a low dependance on these resources, favouring nuclear power.

At the fleet, the incoming F77's were getting too close, the air blanket was starting to show small signs of weakness. The baby carrier would have to be used to keep the standards of defence high. Thankfully to all the people abord the flagship, two incoming missiles were intercepted by the 6 CIWS. One destroyer wasnt so lucky and was struck around the hangar area, blowing the refuelling helicopter into the water and setting off an uncontrolled leak of aviation fuel causing a massive explosion. The aft section of the ship no longer resembled its sister ships and smoke billowed from the structure.

When the Herrebrugh Dutch were charging the beach and launching their grappling hooks to get up on the rocks on the Free Tristanian ships the last minutes of preparations were completed. Men began to get aboard the small landing craft that were taking them to the beach. One of soldiers leaned back, clearly feeling seasick, he had spent the night with the Herrebrugh Dutch and he had eaten chips along the rest of them. He took off his helmet and vomited in it as one of his comrades helped him up "Are you alright, mate ? " The soldier, green with seasickness, looked up "Yes.. I have felt better before.. damn seasickness".

The ramps went down at 6.30. And soldiers jumped into the three meter deep water because the reefs and rocks blocked their advance. They clambered ashore and ran across the 300 metres of beach before plunging into the jungles behind it. "Keep going, lads !" A lieutenant ordered. A soldier behind him carrying the regimental flag.

North-Western Beaches

5:30 A.M.

The ships had arrived at the location barely four hours ago. During the time, some reinforcements from Kalaska had been intercepted, and merged accordingly to the orders of the Ministry Of Defense.
The Fleet now held one nuclear powered super carrier, one nuclear powered standard carrier, 6 LSD type Landing Craft Docking Ships (the said crafts were extremely large, capable of taking up to 75 men in their "holds", 12 Destroyers, 2 Minesweepers, 3 Missile Ships, 4 Corvettes and 2 Newport class tank landing ship (Whom would be deploying a total of 1,000 men each.

The Fleet was to be tasked of the landings at the North-Western beaches. The aim would be to gain control of the air, then commence a first landing including 1,800 men. These would be mainly landed in one go, with helicopters and landing crafts. Then, as soon as the beach would be secure, the crafts would head back to take more troops as the Newport Class Tank Landing Ships would move into place, and allow a total of 2,000 men to be quickly landed. As soon as the first wave of 5,000 men would be landed, the armored vehicles would then be landed themselves, allowing for the ships to finally await the Free Tristanian objectives, in order to commence their own operations.

As 6:30 A.M. approached, alongside the Free Tristanians time order, a total of ten Pavelows took off, securing the area as the UH-60s began to move out to drop the forward troops. The landing crafts staged at the ships then began to move, a total of 1,800 men would be landed in those very crafts. On the carriers, the F-18 Super Hornets (a total of ten) alongside the F-15s (a total of eight) took off, in case attempts were made to bomb or flank the landing troops.
As the landing crafts began to slow down, affected by the now shallow waters, the large doors of the steel crafts began to open, as soon as they did the G.N.F. Marines began to immediately run to any cover they could see, themselves not even knowing if any enemy troops were even there. Officers shouted to move forward as helicopters began to land, dropping even more men.

The Herrebrughian men found themselves hiding by concrete walls to not get shot. They threw some stun granades towards the enemy. A flash. They started moving in, assaulting the enemy fortifications on the cliff. "Sdayut·sya, geef je over!" "Sdayut·sya, surrender!" the soldiers yelled. They hoped they didn't have to kill to many enemies as they didn't want to murder an entire island.

However. In the distance one could make out the ship, the frigate, that was the VMS Victorie. There, on the bridge, General Markovic was observing the battle with his binocular. He picked up his satellite phone to report to the homeland "Challo. Da, Gjeneraal Markovic chier. Da, slag vjerloopt gjoed. Da. Da. Maar, wij wjel njodig heb njieuw moenitzjie. Da. Ja, gjoed. Do svidaniya." "Hello. Yes, General Markovic here. Yes, the battle is going well. Yes. Yes. But we'll need new munitions. Yes. Yes, ok. Goodbye." "Vpered muzhchin. Vpered." he whispered to himself while going back inside.

Us Dutchmen, while mostly Communists, don't harbour especially bad feelings towards capitalists. Even though they are our obvious counterparts. In the same fashion, we don't harbour any bad feelings towards the West Reich. In fact, we would be honoured in working together with forces utilized to spread democracy and freedom across the world. We would also like to note that we don't plan on keeping any of the territory we gain. It will all go to our most honoured ally, Free Tristiana, who will decide what to do with the captured territory.

Therefore I kindly ask you to reconsider this move in the name of freedom and democracy. Something I am sure the fine Western Reich is willing to stand for.

We are catching up on the available intel on the Ucrumban war, and expect a detailed description of the fleet I am sending shortly. Before that is finalized, do inform us of any specific requests/requirements you might have.

Short Statement From The Confederate Navy

Having received a message from our most noble ally, The Seafaring Christian Empire of Centroypyge, we would like to use this message to thank both its admiralty and its ruler, the gracious Emperor Fawkes, for its offer of military assistance in Ucrumban territorial waters. The Ucrumbans have thus far put up no resistance to our blockade, and extra support would be welcomed in the eventuality of this occurring. Consequently, we hereby accept this proposal. We would like to announce that our Grand Admiral operating in the area, Hern Osk, will handle command of the Centropygan vessels you have so willingly pledged to our cause. In order to avoid confusion, we ask that Centropygan vessels be clearly marked out in colours similar to the Alexiandran blue and red, so as to prevent our forces firing upon their allies, mistaking them for Ucrumban vessels. Some extra air power would be welcomed, and perhaps help in setting the stage for an Alexiandran invasion of Ucrumba. The current regime is unstable, and must be changed or removed at any cost. Cruise missiles and other surface-to-land weapons would also be appreciated, as they can provide ample destruction against enemy land positions. Although it is not our wish to commit troops to a possibly costly invasion of this small island nation, we feel it is in the best interests of both Alexiandra, Centropyge and the international community to remove this government from power. once again, we wish to thank our loyal allies in Centropyge for their outstanding commitment to international security, the well-being of the Alexiandran Nation, and a general sense of sensibility when dealing with such serious affairs.
