The Sceptre 1 was not typically used by Queen Sophia, while as luxurious and ornate as any other jet under the Queen's disposal, it lacked the usual security features that was custom to transporting the sovereign. Yet as her normal jet for official functions was under maintenance, it would have to do.

She studied the room before her, her husband the Prince Edward sat beside her, reading with interest one of the Fonteveille newspapers." A little over to her left sat her most trusted ladies in waiting, the Lady Anne and the Lady Mary. They sat together gossiping away, and Queen Sophia was surprised that throughout the several hours the flight had taken they had not run out of topics.

There was a short announcement from the intercom that announced they were nearing Fonteveille International Airport. With interest Queen Sophia looked out the window, and saw below a marvellous collection of architecture, Sophia was rather fond of the rural Italian style. "It seems we have this new Kingdom" she announced to the plane in general.

Excited her ladies ran towards the window, gasping in surprise at the city before them. "My it's fantastic, no wonder the King lives there!" Lady Mary sighed happily.

""Yes, I do wonder if he is handsome?" Lady Anne answered, to which they burst into a fit of giggles, causing the Queen to cluck her tongue in disapproval.

"Such talk is not proper for unmarried ladies in front of their Queen, or in front of men ladies!" She reprimanded, but she did so with a half smile. It was nice to see the young girls excited about something.

After the pilot announced they were about to land she instructed the two girls to strap in their seat belts, and soon the Queen felt her stomach lurch as they descended. Relieved when they finally landed, Queen Sophia gratefully slid out her seat, and hand in hand with the Duke of Hernington she made her way out of the plane and onto Fontégasque soil.

OOC: Actually the link to Alys's NSwiki provides both her and her daughters titles. As for Armina she is a Prince-Regent and they are all styled His/Hers Most Imperial Highness, with the "most" to differentiate from princes of the fourth order and bellow. But I guess I could have made that clearer. At least you haven't any of the tetrarchs, exilarchs, tribunes or people's commissionaires yet. Even I can confuse their titulations.

Fonteveille wrote:"Your Majesty, your Highness, this way please." The Royal Guard escorted the Genovian King and Archduchess to their rooms to await the commencement of the coronation. "If you need anything you need only use the room's telephone, it will connect you to the service department."

James found a luxurious-looking sofa and sat down, crossing his legs as he relaxes. His aunt, Archduchess Melissa chose to walk to the windows and look out to the beautiful water-front view. She smiled as many Fontégasque citizens walked around the pier below in their pompous costumes. A little giggle escaped from her lips, which she covered in respect to her king by her hand even though the king was her nephew. James, with a smile jumped up and walked over.

"What is it?" he asked. Melissa pointed outside. James' gaze moved out the window and his eye caught on to a splendid little man that was all too comfortable in his gown. James laughed, but quickly stopped so as to not disrespect the palace staff that may be outside the door. Melissa had the most outrageous of faces as she tried not to laugh. "Calm down, calm down. Quiet," James states with a smile. "It's their custom. We will join them soon enough."

"I know, I know. I didn't mean to laugh. I'm just not used to it. I know we are Catholic, but Carnival isn't taken this seriously in Genovia," she states.

"I understand. But I'm sure it will be really fun! I've already picked our costumes, although my mother did help."

About that time, as if on cue, a knock is heard at the door. James opens it, and it is the few Royal Attendants(the more politically correct term for Royal Servants) that he requested go with him. They came in, with low bows to both their king and archduchess, carrying the costumes for them both. They quickly left.

"Your Majesty! No, this is too much!" Melissa says with a giggle.

"Well, it was either too much or too little. I tried to get in-between as best I could. We will put them on after the coronation. For now, let's see if we can leave this bloody room and meet some people," James suggested. He walks over and picks up the phone that was granted them. It connects directly to the Service Department. "Yes, this is His Majesty King James the Third from Genovia. Are Archudchess Melissa and myself permitted to leave the room to explore the area and converse with others? Or are we to stay in this room?"

The telephone in the Service Dept. rang, the secretary picked up the phone and listened to the Genovian King's question. "Of course you Majesty! You may do whatever you wish, you were supposed to be told that by the Royal Servants, they must have forgotten. Yes, if you require a vehicle I can have one here in a moment, however most travel in Fonteveille is on foot due to the geography of the city."

The Parliament of the Kingdom of Fonteveille

The coronation of King Alexandre II, would by tradition, be taking place in the Parliament building. The coronation would be a simple affair, the King would take an oath to the people and the nation before Parliament, the Prime Minister would then hand the King the Royal Crown which the King would place on his own head. The Speaker of the Chamber of Representatives (the lower house of Parliament) would then announce the new King. The King would then exit the Parliament and the celebration at the Royal Palace would take place immediately afterward.

But for now, the final touches had been put on the Parliament Chambers. Flags and bunting had been hung, lights had been set, cameras were ready, and seats had been assigned. The visiting foreign dignitaries had been given prime seats near the front. The doors had been opened, the red carpet rolled out, and the Fontégasque paparazzi was chomping at the bit, all waiting for the guests to arrive. The coronation was to be broadcast nationally, and was being watched in nearly every Fontégasque home around the country. Soon Fontégasque nobles, celebrities, and socialites began to trickle in and the Parliament began to fill up.

OOC: you may start arriving at the coronation asap. Feel free to bend the rules of time and space to make it :)

James put down the telephone and explained to his aunt what the secretary informed him of. They both opened the door to their room and were shortly frightened. On the other side,a moderately young gentleman was about to knock on the door. The surprise startled the royals, but they soon laughed at the incident.

The man bowed, "Your Majesty, Your Highness, the coronation will be starting shortly. His Majesty, the King of Fonteveille has requested all dignitaries begin to find their seating at the Parliament building."

With a smile, James answered, "Why thank you very much, Sir. We will go immediately."

The man escorted the two Genovian royals through the palace, the layout thereof that both James and Melissa had already forgotten. If they had to, they would never remember how to get out of the palace, as they paid little attention to the directions they were turning while coming in. Finally they reached the outside of the palace, where a few Security Service Agents, from Genovia, were waiting. Thanking the man, who they assumed was a government worker, they entered the elegant, black Audi A8 bearing both the flag of Fonteveille and Genovia. The car rolled through the city, they both "ooohed" and "ahhhed" at the buildings and people. The car finally rolled up to the Parliament building and GSS agents secured the area before opening the door to the car. The two stepped out and camera flashes surrounded them, but they were used to it. Walking the red carpet, stopping here and there to answer some question, they entered the Parliament building and took their seats.

Hands held, Prince Philip's and Princess Shazira's limo rolled to a stop at the end of the wide red carpet that led to the Parliament building.

"Your imperial highness? he have arrived." the voice from the front of the limo came through the speaker system in the back

"Thank you Mr.Jones" the prince pressed the green button in the back

Far from home and relatively minor royalty, the Bardustian couple were overwhelmed by the circus that awaited them outside. "Are you ready...your imperial highness?" Princess Shazira teased her husband knowing that the fate of his title and position was on his mind "We cant wait in his car forever, plus, the media exposure is what the people need. If Bardustian see their prince out there they will love it. Come come, if anything it will at least be a wonderful evening out."

"Umm I suppose so" With little to say Prince Philip stepped out the limo to face wall of flashes.

Though very uncertain about everything in their life at the moment, the couple put on their best face and worked the crowd.

Erika descended from her limo, and waved to the congregated crowd. She was wearing a blue ball dress, and a silver tiara with matching sapphires.

Bathed by the lights of the flashes, Erika was in her element. “Hello! Hello everybody!” She said, as she dedicated the best of her smiles to the Fontégasque paparazzis, and then she entered in the parliament building to take her seat.

"Oh, wow..." mouthed Queen Millicent as she stepped out of the car, positively startled by the click and flash of a thousand cameras and the roar of the cheering crowd. The papparazi and celebrity spectacle was alien to her and Prince Christian. The Harrovian royal couple were experiencing quite a culture shock having come to the Fontégasque city. But a grand white palace set against the snowy mountains assured the Queen that at least some things were common between the Fontégasque and Harrovian lands, the majesty of ancient kingship and the respect for Parliamentary government.

"We are quite ready," said Queen Millicent to the Fontégasque official who had come to meet them, seemingly to escort them up into the Parliament building.

The High Premier's family did not expect such a high presence of paparazzi and reporters. As photographs flashed all around him, Alexander wondered if his host nation knew much of our even had an opinion of the Floridian Coast. The suit of silk he had on was the best and most expensive he owned, his son Aaron, a young military star in his homeland, was dressed in his formal uniform, finding it more suitable than civilian formal wear. At age 20, he had more decorations than most of the oldest Generals back home, and as he knew "I damn well earned them."

Alexander's two daughters both were custom designed dresses. Lady Larissa Bryce wore a black corset under her purple dress which was adorned fully in every possible way. Being naturally tall enough already, her formal shoes did not include heels. Lady Emily Bryce, the youngest child of the High Premier, wore a turquoise coloured blue top and a white skirt, her blonde hair stayed naturally well in place as she was the last to enter behind her family. "I can't wait to try on the masks for the carnival later." Emily said to her brother. Aaron looked at her and said "The carnival seems quite fun, but I think I'd have a better chance of meeting a royal lady if she saw my face.", he laughed to himself. "I see many girls here, Aaron, you have quite a lot of options available." his little sister told him, still wondering if there was a boy her age around, despite the fact that neither her brother or her father would let her out of their sight. As they made their way to the front, Aaron said to Emily "If our father wishes a royal marriage to strengthen our national power, I will marry a daughter of a head of state or no one at all."

Queen Sophia sighed as the car halted to a stop before the parliament building of Fonteveille, she was rifling through her bag for the small box with the gift she has commissioned for the King's coronation. It was a ring, quite thick in its width, and set upon it was a large ruby, along the edges the words Vivat Rex could be seen inscribed.

"Found it," she muttered, quickly checking it before slipping it into a more accessible pouch of her bag, earning her a small tut from her husband.

"I do not know why you bought that for him,"Prince Edward said, narrowing his eyes slightly, "He has clearly shown quite a discord upon Anne's tenure during his time at the Commonwealth," he said frowning, referring to the problems the Duke of Farnese, the King's representative, had been giving the Izzyerian Ambassador and Leader of the Imperial Commonwealth.

"Oh Edward, it is but a trinket," Sophia said, rolling her eyes, "The lack of a gift to accompany these situations will only stress the troubled relations between our nations, which in turn shall worsen the altercation and perhaps escalate hostilities."

The Prince Consort only tutted in reply, before moodily adding, "I still think it is a mistake," causing Sophia to release a small growl of frustration.

"Really? Well then perhaps you should leave the politics to me, I have had a mere twenty years experience, after all it is I who wears the Crown, is it not?" as Sophia said it she could feel a sense of regret fill her instantly.

"Of course, your Majesty" he snapped, before storming out of the car, causing the Queen to mutter a softly spoken obscenity under her breath. Changing the troubled expression on her face into one of serene clam, the usual mask of the Queen, she quickly left the car and began a solitary walk down the carpet, oblivious to the calls of the paparazzi.

After all the guests had arrived the Queen, Princess, and Queen Mother made their way to the antechamber where the King was preparing for the coronation. The King's brother, Benedict the Prince of Asteria, was already there and was conversing with the King when the other royals entered.

"I'm just saying Alex, that the ICLC is quite the old boy's club."

"What on earth do you mean Benedict? The ICLC is very equal and democratic from what the Duke of Farnese has reported."

"You've apparently only been reading the official reports. I've spoken to the Duke himself and he says it's very much a Izzyerian and Quendian affair. It may have been a Bardustian idea, and it may be stationed in Bardust, but the ICLC is now the plaything of Queen Sophia and Princess Aleera."

"Benedict, that is enough. I will not tolerate such insinuations. You will be on you best behavior during the coronation, no?"

"Yes, yes. I'll try, you know I'm infamously incorrigible." the Prince said with a smile.

At this point the rest of the Royal Family arrived and more idle conversation began, while the many aides continued to touch up the King's attire and appearance.

Malacañang sa Sugbu - Cebu City, Central and Eastern Visayas

---ELEVEN DAYS AGO---

"Mr. President?"

"Yes?" President Louis Valderama asked. The President of the Federal Republic of Central and Eastern Visayas was a rather affable man. Sharing power with Prime Minister Rogelio Cañada meant that he didn't need to do much of the lifting, and that added to the affability of himself.

"A letter has just arrived, sir," said the functionary. The letter was from the Kingdom of Fonteveille, and stated that the Head of State was invited. "Here, Mr. President."

Louis took the letter and dismissed the functionary. Sitting down behind his desk, he put on reading glasses and took a look.

Maayo. Another day away from the stresses of the office. A coronation should be interesting.

I'll have to notify the family,
he thought.

He accepted the invitation and wrote an RSVP, giving the order to send it to the Fontégasque king immediately. Then, he called Rogelio.

"Yeah, Louis?"

"Roger, there's a coronation going on in a country called Fonteveille. Think the Foreign Ministry can get the job ready?"

"I'll see what I can do, Lou. Let me guess: You got an invite, and you said yes."

"What, you too?"

"I'm Head of Government, but that didn't stop him. Besides, our seconds could use the exercise," Rogelio replied. "You taking your family?"

"And you're not?" Louis laughed after.

"Just the wife, obviously. Ramiro's in med school, remember?"

"Same here. Dan and Lan"--Daniel and Lani, Louis' fraternal children--"are still in University."

--------

---SIX DAYS AGO---

As CEV-01--the designation for any airplane carrying the President or both President and Prime Minister, as opposed to the Prime Minister's CEV-Alpha--approached the FIA Control tower, the pilot, a retired Captain in the CEV Navy, gave the message:

Code: Select all
Control Tower, this is CEV-01 requesting permission to land.

--------

---PRESENT---

"Well, this should be interesting," Louis said under his breath.

"Concur, Lou," replied Rogelio. "Looks like the wives are enjoying this as well."

"True." A pause, followed by Louis asking "Who's giving the greetings?"

"You are. You're Head of State, remember?"

"Right. Let's wait until after the coronation."

"Huah."

Retconned to compensate--I made it look as is the various events happened days ago, until the point of my initial post.

The members of the Royal Family other than the King and Queen moved to their seats in the very front row in front of the stage where the coronation was to occur. A hush fell over the crowd as it was apparent the ceremony was about to commence. As the national anthem, God Save the King, was played all the Fontégasque in the room stood, removed their caps, and placed their right hands over their hearts. For the most part they were imitated by the foreign dignitaries. Following the national anthem, the royal fanfare was played and King Alexandre and Queen Maria slowly walked down the center aisle of the chamber to the stage at the end. They ascended the steps, were the Prime Minister was awaiting them. King Alexandre said his oath first. Placing his right hand over his heart and facing the PM, he said,

"I, Alexandre Ranieri Carlo Emanuele di Savoy-Lusignan, by the Constitution, the love of the People, and my Royal Bloodline, King of Fonteveille and Jerusalem, and Duke of Savoy; swear to uphold the Constitution, Protect and Serve the People, and to Faithfully Lead and Guide the Nation to the best of my ability, so help me God."

After saying his oath the King then picked up the royal crown from a pedestal beside him, and placed it on his head. Alexandre then stepped aside and Queen Maria moved in front of the PM and said her oath.

"I, Maria Yolanda Margherita Elisabetta di Savoy-Lusignan, by the Constitution, the love of the People, and my Royal Bloodline, Queen of Fonteveille and Jerusalem, and Duchess of Savoy; swear to uphold the Constitution, Protect and Serve the People, and to Faithfully Follow and Advise my Husband the King to the best of my ability, so help me God."

The King then picked up the queen's crown from another pedestal. Queen Maria knelt in front of him and he placed the crown on her head. Taking Alexandre's hand, Maria then stood beside her husband. The Royal Couple then turned to face the assembly. A herald then announced.

Image

"Presenting, His Majesty King Alexandre I, and Her Majesty Queen Maria. Long Live the King!"

The herald's announcement was followed with applause and cheering and three loud cries of "Long Live the King!". The King and Queen exited the Parliament Building after several standing ovations and rounds of applause. They made their way to the Royal Palace. In the Courtyard, everything was prepared for the reception, the King and Queen took their seats on a specially prepared dais, and awaited the invited guests. They would wait until the majority of the guests arrived before changing into their Carnivale attire.

OOC:
1) Central and Eastern Visayas, we're kind of ready to start, so if you wouldn't mind revising your post to fit in chronologically that would be great.
2) Everyone, I'll RP the coronation and skip ahead to the reception at the Palace, you may RP you reactions to the coronation and proceed to congratulate/greet/whatever the King there.
3) Note that though Alexandre was the second Prince of Fonteveille of that name, he is the first King of Fonteveille of that name, henceforth he shall be known as King Alexandre I

Queen Sophia quickly took the drink offered to her by the passing waiter, quickly emptying the champagne in a hasty gulp, a faux pas which would have no doubt earned her a clipped ear from Mrs. Steel, her old etiquette teacher. It had been a long day, especially the cold atmosphere she had suffered from her husband throughout the Coronation, which detracted her enjoyment of the ceremony somewhat.

She had picked, in her own opinion, a rather delightful costume to the carnival, a elaborate dress of silver and dark blue, all across adorned with bright plumes of peacock feathers. Her mask was of light silver, imitating the profile of a bird, its small beak coated in gold. Sophia had to admit, she rather enjoyed the idea of a Carnivale, and briefly wondered whether it would be worth considering to have her own themed night back home in Izzyshipper.

Looking for a moment at Prince Edward, she rolled her eyes as he saw him intimidate her rather hasty consumption of alcohol, but with much more of the raw material.

"Please do not embarrass me," She hissed, "I do not wish to present a drunk husband to the King, or is that your idea of a diplomatic success?"

Edward merely shrugged, "Your the one with all that experience in politics, why don't you tell me?"

Sophia gritted her teeth in irritation, causing the Prince Consort to smirk and wander off away from her. I guess I must present ourself to the King myself, she mused silently, annoyed beyond belief.

The King was obviously becoming bored greeting various foreign dignitaries as the Carnivale festivities were going on around the Royal couple. The Queen noticed this and had an aide prepare their costumes and make ready to assist the couple. She was correct in her assumption that the King would soon wish to participate in the revelry when he turned to her and said,
"Maria, I am quite finished greeting these people. What would you say to a dance?"

The Queen smiled, "I anticipated this Alexandre, you never were one to sit idly while others were having fun. Let's change into our Carnivale attire and join the others."

The King and Queen finished greeting a few final guests and then made their way to a changing room where several attendants were waiting to assist them in changing. Soon they were outfitted.

They were resplendent in their matching golden costumes and the King had the lights in the ballroom changed to warm yellows and oranges to further accent their outfits. The couple made their way around the room, variously chatting and toasting with friends and dignitaries. Eventually they came to the table where Queen Sophia of Izzyshipper was sitting,
"Your Majesty, do you mind if we join you?"

Erika took her seat for the coronation, awed by the beauty of the place. The ceremony proceed, and she was pleasantly surprised when Alexandre crowded himself “As Napoleon did” she thinks to herself. In Osberg-Thitania, protocol demands that the new king must we crowded by a cardinal, to symbolize that the king´s power emanates directly from God. “What Alexandre wants to imply with that? That he doesn´t recognize any authority superior to himself?” she thinks.
When the ceremony ends, she joins the applause and the cries, and then nears where the royal couple are. She curtsies both of them, as she says “My congratulations, Your Majesties. I wish you a long and prosperous reign.”
After that, she retires to change to her carnival attire. She has chosen a peacock costume, that could be assessed as a bit risqué by the strict Osbergian protocol rules. But it´s because of that that Erika liked to travel abroad: because the many chances that offered to escape from those rules, even for a short time.

The Queen sat almost bored at her table, her husband was off at some corner of the party, his anger still visible and waiting for her to come after him, which she would not. Sophia sat amidst the festivities a solitary figure of simmering anger, but was interrupted in her fury by a surprise visit by the main attraction of that nights events, The King and Queen of Fonteveille.

"Of course your Majesties, please do not hesitate and join myself, I am afraid my husband is indisposed at the moment to meet you, but I do hope that my presence will be enough to prevent boredom."

"Oh your Majesty, I'm sure your presence is more than enough to ward off boredom. I only hope our presence will do the same for you. Ah, I don't believe we'll be having any problems after all, here comes my brother the Prince of Oristano, he's widely considered the most lively of the three brothers."

The Prince came over to the table, greeted the royals and took a seat. The Prince then addressed Queen Sophia.

"Your Majesty, if you don't mind my asking, what is your opinion of the state of affairs in the ICLC as of late?"
