The War to keep Independence (MT, OPEN TO ALL)

Postby Danix Island » Mon Apr 18, 2011 9:13 am

Government house, 01:00
The silence of the night blanketed Danix Island, the small population of 9 million mostly asleep except for the few who had night jobs

A security guard for the government house walked up and started chatting to his friend, in the government house, the politicians were again staying late to bicker over some law, the guard didn't really care, he got paid that's all he cared about.

Whilst talking to Jim, the other guard, John notices something in the bushes
"Jim what's that" John points to a bush which is rustling unusually
"Probably just an anim....Hmph*SNAP*" Jim falls to the ground dead

John turns around but is met with a knife to the throat, he clutches his throat as it bleeds out and falls to the ground, his eyes staying open long enough to armed men enter the government house and seconds later flashes through the windows and screaming, his eyes close and he bleeds out.

Government House, 05:44
A scream breaks the calm of the morning and causes several nearby civilians to rush to the woman to see what is wrong, as they approach her they see it, two security guards, lying there, blood soaked and dead, barely hidden behind a bush. One of the civilians immediately rings the police

Government House, 05:49
within minutes the police arrive and secure the scene, one of the first two responding officers decides to go check the Government house, the lack of light coming from windows in the Government house alert him something is wrong. He draws his pistol as he enters the House and walks into the lobby, no one there to greet him, he checks the receptionists desk and finds a woman's body, he radios it in and starts to check the rest of the building, he heads straight for the debate hall and opens the door

He immediately vomits on the ground, the scene before him horrifying, of the 77 members of the government house 68 of them lie dead on the ground in the debate hall, he calls it in and leaves the government house, with a look of terror upon his face.

Strorage Garage, Danix Island, Precise location unknown, 07:28
"The Operation was a success, Sir, most of the Danix Island government has been disabled"The special forces soldier reported to his commander over a secure line

"Good, what about OP B?" The Commander responds

"OP B is already underway, completion momentarily"The soldier replies

The comm links cuts and the soldier gets back to business, infront of him tied to a chair is a man, not any man, the second in command of the lacking danix military

"How does it feel to know that you've failed to protect your people, how does it feel knowing that Danix will be taken and you can't stop it, better yet, How does it feel knowing your going to die?" The soldier asked the second in command and was met with what appeared to be shouting that was muffled by the rag in his mouth

The soldier points his silenced pistol at the mans skull and fires, the bullet smacks into his skull and exits the other side, killing the man instantly

The soldier exits the storage garage he was using and closes the door behind him before getting in his awaiting vehicle and moving to his safehouse in the mountains

Police Station, Udina, Coastal town, 09:21

A courier enters the police station and talks to the officer at the front desk

"Package for chief sergeant Paul Inidi" The courier tells the police officer at the front desk

The officer picks up the phone and calls his superior to come get the package, The Chief Sergeant arrives seconds later and signs for the package, the chief sergeant then takes the package back to his desk where he begins to unwrap it, as he opens the cardboard box he is met with a ghastly sight, a bomb, one packed with C4 which starts beeping extremely fast and everyone automatically knows what it is but their attempts to run are futile as the bomb explodes and destroys the police station, the explosion so big it causes the building to explode and bits of debris to fall on squad cars and nearby buildings.

The courier dumps his van and walks to an awaiting vehicle which speeds away, after he gets in, the courier presses a button and the courier van explodes causing the four containers of shrapnel in the van to go flying into traffic, buildings and pedestrians.

North DI, Coastal village, 00:56

The boats drifted silently towards their objective, the beach

Infront of them on the shore is a fishing village of roughly four hundred people, all asleep or in their homes, not able to see the boats hit the shore and the men slowly get out and move into the village, the soldiers spread through out the village and blocked all escape routes, A man moved into the center of the village and started shouting

"Citizens of Danix Island, come out of your homes immediately and beg for forgiveness from your King or suffer his wrath"

People came rushing out to see what is going on, seeing the Bladian there holding a Bladian flag sent one man berserk, he charged the soldier but a loud bang rings out and he drops dead a few meters from the soldier

"Beg for his majesties forgiveness or die" the Soldier said

his response was the anger of the villagers, some brandished weapons and threatened the soldier, the soldier looked down and shook his head, he started walking away, behind him he could hear the sound of gunfire and people screaming

as he walked he thought to himself
"So is war"

"Alright, how many are we talking about?"

Republikoberbefehlhaus - Republic Over-Command House - was situated in the centre of Lebengeberlandstadt, the capital city of the Republic. Situated several miles away from the main government district, the large building was the centre-piece of military organisation for the Armee von Republik von Lebengeberland. It was only a short drive from the Presidential Palace to the facility, but it was also connected by an underground rail-link. It was this rail-link that President Strauss used to attend the Armeebefehlraum - The Army Command Room - situated several floors below the city streets and reinforced with concrete walls. Inside, technicians worked around the edges of the room, operating radios and computer equipment. The centre of the room was dominated by a large table, framed in the light of a large LCD screen on one of the walls. Around this table, several military officials sat with grim faces. At the head of the table, President Mikhail Strauss sat looking at the screen opposite him. His slim, fair-skinned features looked serious below the blonde hair framing his head. On the LCD screen was an interactive map of the Danix Island, standing ready for further manipulation. The military command was meeting upon the news that insurgent activities were beginning in the islands, where foreign workers of Lebengeberland citizenship were living.

Next to the map stood General Markus Hehl, the current Chairman of the Republikoberbefehl. He cleared his throat as President Strauss asked the question, nodding to a nearby operator. The screen changed to focus in on an area of the Danix Island coast. A single town sat in the centre of the screen. Hehl began speaking, rubbing his moustache as he did. "Herr President, what you see here is the coastal town of Udina. According to our records, Lebengeberlander citizens are mostly concentrated around this town and the surrounding urban areas." Hehl checked the papers in his hand momentarily. "We are looking at...approximately four-hundred of our citizens, according to Ministry of International Affairs records." Hehl looked up again.

Mikhail nodded, not taking his eyes off the screen. "Well, we need to get our people out," he mused, half to himself that anyone else. The President straightened in his chair, running a hand momentarily through his hair. "What do you have for me, General?" he asked firmly.

Hehl nodded again to an operator. The map became overlaid with several icons. "Sir, assuming we cannot secure their repatriation by diplomatic means, we have put together a plan codenamed Operation Archangel." Hehl indicated to the screen with his hand. "Archangel calls for the deployment of the 2nd Expeditionary Fleet with a Half-Battalion of Infantry, totalling a thousand soldiers and 25 Armoured Personnel Carriers in total. The 2nd will be backed up by a Squadron of 25 Typhoon Fighters flying extended Combat Air Patrol with assistance from six KC-135 Stratotankers from the Air Support Command." Hehl cleared his throat again before continuing. "Archangel intends to temporarily occupy the town of Udina under the long-range fire support of the 2nd Fleet. During this occupation, we will establish a safe zone near the harbour, locate our citizens and then extract from the country."

Mikhail nodded. "How soon can we be ready to go?" he asked after a moment.

Hehl checked his notes again. "The 2nd Fleet is currently on active standby, so preparations would be minimal," the General responded. "I estimate we could put Operation Archangel at sea within the next seven hours."

Strauss nodded. "Put it in place," he said, moving to stand. The officers around the table did the same out of respect. "In the meantime," the President said, picking up his coat. "I will try the diplomatic route."

The government of the Republic wishes to inform the government of Danix Island that it has received reports of terrorist activity being undertaken against civilian population centres. As you are aware, the Republic has several hundred citizens working in your nation, mostly centred in the coastal town of Udina. The Republic strongly requests the government of Danix Island to assist in the facilitation of Lebengeberland citizens' return to the Republic by providing chartered flights and ships for this purpose. The Republic must emphasise that strong contingency measures may have to be taken otherwise should the government of Danix Island be unable to fulfil this request.

----------

As the message winged its way to Danix Island, the Armee von Republik swung into action. The 2nd Half-Battalion of the 1st Battalion, 2nd Mechanised Infantry Division, along with elements of their transport corps, were awoken from their bunks and quickly began loading equipment and weapons for the two-hour drive to Port Gelbstadt, the main naval base of Lebengeberland. The 2nd Expeditionary Fleet, already on active standby in the harbour, quickly began preparations to get under-way, loading supplies and recalling on-shore personnel. The Himmelarmee 2nd Superiority Squadron and Stratotankers from the Air Support Command prepared to take to the skies in order to operate long-range combat air support if needed.

The Republic was about to show its teeth for the first time.

Foreign Affairs Ministry,SEYDARI PRIME (Capital of The Sovereign Dominion of Seydari) 3:15AM Local Time

Loud running footsteps can be heard coming from a dark vast hallway, the footsteps seem to get close... Kendra Hesse a Royal Guard on duty draws her gun and points it towards the hallway and shouts in an aggitated voice..."Who...who goes there?"?. A strong monotone voice answers in a loud declaring voice.. "WATCH WHERE U POINT THAT!! WHERE IS THE MINISTER??? TELL ME NOW!"..
Kendra Hesse retaliates and shouts "I WILL SHOOT UNLESS YOU TELL ME WHO YOU ARE AND WHY ARE YOU HERE..." The man answers "My name is Javerin Neils of the Royal Seydari Intelligence Service....and if you shine your darn light over here I will show you my Security Pass.." Kendra answers in an embarrassed tone.." I..I'm sorry sir..I just had to make sure.".. Javerin snaps and shouts... "SO WHERE IS THE MINISTER???"..."he is in his i mean she is in her office I'll show you were she is "answered Kendra. They both run towards an imposing large double door and slams them open...

Sitting behind the desk was the Minister of Foreign Affairs Lady Rania Putri Seydari-Jones.

Lady Rania in horror of seeing the 2 barge in shouts "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS? HW DARE YOU BARGE IN LIKE THIS"... she pauses and see's Kendra one of her personal Royal Guards... "KENDRA!!! WHAT"... and before she can finish her rant Javerin interrupts.. "Your Highness I do apologise for this interruption but I have information from the intelligence agency". Lady Rania sits down in shock..and asks in a worried tone...."what's going on...what is it...come on young man speak up....umm kendra you can leave us now..thank you".

Kendra leaves the room and it can be clearly seen in her face that she wishes she was allowed to stay....

Javerin tells the Minister.. "Your Highness we have been trying to contact you for the last few hours"... Lady Rania interrupts.. "get on with it young man...and before you do please show me proof that you are who u claim u are". Javerin hands over his ID to Lady Rania and starts to tell the Minister.... "Danix Island has had a coupe or an uprising..we arent quite sure on the details for now ma'am, but we have confirmed that there has been several explosions all around the country and that their government representatives have been murdered.....everyone who was in their government building are either dead or injured..". Lady Rania looks shocked and horrified of what she hears.. and before Javelin can continue she asks.... "And what of Princess Beatrix?? is she safe? where is she? is she safe".... Javerin Answers.. "We were initially in contact with her however....umm...we lost communications with her highness...The mobile phone network on Danix has been brought down..and the last thing her highness said was that she and the associates she is on holiday with were in their Hotel", "she wasnt sure what was going on, but she did hear shots"... obviously in distraught Lady Rania asks.... "What about our Embassy Staff what about them??".. Javerin responds in a positive tone..."They have been evacuated and are scheduled to arrive back here tomorrow evening..". he is interrupted when his mobilephone rings...he answers it..."yes...i understand....WHAT?....okay...yes sir.... yes sir.. I shall inform Lady Rania.. yes sir we are on our way."...he ends the call and looks like all the colour in his face has been drained... Lady Rania in a hesitant voice asks.... "Javerin Whats going on???"... Javelin answers... "Pr..Pr...Princess Beatrix has been taken along with the other Seydari .....umm..ma'am i have orders to escort you to Istana Seydari Palace...the Defence Minister, Prime Minister and Lord Advocate have called an Emergency Meeting..we need to leave now".........

Lady Rania stands up and heads out of her office with Javerin..

(OOC: Assuming some passage of time between sending the message and its response in order to continue things moving along)

As the diplomatic missive returned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Danix Island, the Republic's Minister of International Affairs, Heinrich Smidt, was the immediate recipient. The document, marked 'Top Priority', was quickly flashed to the Office of the Prime Minister and the Presidential Palace. It was late at night in Lebengeberland by now, and although President Strauss and his Prime Minister, von Gelbstadt, were awake when the response was received, it was decided that the President would wait until the open of business the following morning to address the Republic Assembly and inform them of Lebengeberland troops on the move.

Meanwhile, their preparations undertaken, the assets associated with Operation Archangel slipped quietly out of Port Gelbstadt under the cover of darkness. The LS Pracht, a Wasp-class Amphibious Assault Ship and its surrounding entourage of vessels, cleared the harbour waters and made for open sea at full speed. Stratotankers of the Air Support Command had took to the sky some hours previously, intent on setting up an aerial game of relay for the Typhoon fighters that would shortly join their sea-borne companions in their journey in order to arrive on-station at the same time as the 2nd Fleet.

"Admiral on deck!"

The Command Information Centre - CIC - of the LS Pracht was dimly lit with dark red lighting, giving the room an aura of menace and determination. The crew and officers not immediately engaged in operating instruments turned and stood sharply to attention, saluting as Admiral Gerhard Hausmacher took his hat from his head and absently brushed the peak with one gloved hand. He took a moment to look around the room with a determined grimace, searching for his Army counterpart. Hausmacher found him standing by a large computer screen towards the back of the room. Major Alexander Albrecht was talking in a low volume to a military attaché, looking up at the real-time video feeds from each vessel of the fleet being beamed onto the computer screen. Another monitor mounted nearby displayed a radar cross-section overlaid upon a map of Danix Island. Hausmacher pursed his lips; the rivalry between the military branches of Armee von Republik were well-known, and the Admiral did not particularly like 'Bodenhunde' on his ship. Squadron Leader Adam Alois, the Himmelarmee's representative for this operation, stood almost unnoticed to one side of the CIC, the young officer twiddling his thumbs anxiously. Hausmacher took a moment to compose himself; he was the commanding officer for this operation after all, which meant he needed to be diplomatic. After finding his temperament once more, he walked across to Albrecht and looked up at the computer screens. "Are your men ready, Major?"

Albrecht looked up from his conversation with the attaché, a young Lieutenant from the Landarmee. Albrecht smiled; more of a sneer, in Hausmacher's opinion. "Ready as always, sir," the Major replied, turning to look at the picture of Danix Island. "Just get us close enough and we'll do the job."

Hausmacher resisted the urge to smile at the Major's thinly-veiled contempt for the Meerarmee. "In good time, Major," Hausmacher replied before turning to a nearby deck officer. "How close are we now?" the Admiral asked briskly.

The officer, a Lieutenant-Commander, snapped to attention. "We are now approaching within five hundred kilometres of the Danix Island coast, Herr Admiral," the officer half-shouted. "No contact as of yet."

The Admiral nodded, then turned to the Squadron Leader. "Alois?" he asked, trying not to smirk as the junior officer jumped at being addressed. "I think it's time we put your fly-boys to good use. Put a couple over Udina to do some high-altitude reconnaissance, see if we can pick up evidence of any military before we head in."

Squadron Leader Alois nodded. "Yes, Herr Admiral," he said, before turning to a nearby radio operator.

Shortly afterwards, two Typhoon fighters circling high above broke off from their holding pattern and accelerated towards the coast of Danix Island and the coastal city of Udina. Banking on their superior flight abilities to avoid any potential anti-aircraft fire, the Typhoons would hopefully be able to gather some intelligence on the military assets around the Udina area before the army were deployed on the ground. Any military assets that would endanger the operation could then be targeted by the Tomahawk missiles of the Ticonderoga-class Cruisers sailing alongside the Pracht. Meanwhile, soldiers from the 2nd Half-Battalion began pouring onto the deck of the Pracht, each one checking their equipment one last time as they prepared to board the Sea King helicopters currently spooling up their engines on the deck of the mighty assault ship. Landing craft were also being prepared in the hold to transport the 25 APCs onto land once a beachhead was initially established. But for now, the Typhoons were the focus of many eyes in the fleet.

Airbase Pierce

The Typhoons above the city attracted a lot of attention

"Sir, two unregistered fighters on radar, typhoon class, attempting to determine nationality" A military air controller informed his superior

"Launch fighters to intercept and force them to land, Put the army on full alert" His superior responded

"Aye, Sir" the Soldier quickly fulfilled his orders

Within minutes intercept fighters were launched and moved to intercept the possibly hostile craft, two squadrons in total, as the lead squadrons leader got close to the enemy typhoons he radioed them "Attention Typhoon aircraft, you have entered Danix Airspace, What country are you from"

Docks

People ran from the docks into the city, as truck loads of soldiers arrived and disembarked, finding cover where they could it. Engineers started setting up sandbag fortification and machine gun nests, The Dock was the only viable attack point into the city, as the city had been established by the Bladians to be extremely easy to defend against ground assaults, no beaches, only a port made of concrete. Any attempt to parachute troops into the city would leave the enemy isolated and would force them to regroup, giving soldiers more then enough time to destroy the soldiers

The buildings around the port were evacuated and snipers took up positions, along with machine gunners.

Men with sams took up positions on roofs and anywhere with a good view of the sky, the military was ready

Kaiser Andrew stood on his balcony in the Parliamentary Court. An Unscheduled Meeting had been called. There was only two ways for that to happen, either one of the head of states announced that he felt that one was necessary or two or more Parliamentary Electees called for one. In this case two Electees, Electee of Defence, Winston Montgomery, and Electee of Foreign relations, Lester Trudeau, had called for a meeting. Kaiser Andrew looked over and saw the Prime Minister Greene had arrived at his balcony. The conductor struck his gavel and looked up at the two heads of state. Kaiser Andrew spoke up: "Would the Electees who called this meeting please stand?". Winston Montgomery and Lester Trudeau stood up. "Care to explain why we're here?" he asked with a smile.

Lester Trudeau raised his hand and the conductor nodded to him. "I assume you've heard of the recent incidents at Danix Island." he said.

Prime Minister Greene nodded. "Yes, many members of Parliament were murdered and the Bladians have demanded the islands become theirs." he said. "What does this have to do with us?"

Lester Trudeau pointed to a nearby map of Afen and it's neighbors. "Faessim." he said. "The Faessimians are deeply upset by the aggression towards a nation similar to theirs. Both of them are small island nations with very little military." he continued. "But because they have such a small military there is little they can do about it." he added. "So Tzar Helios has requested for us to intervene." he finished.

The whole court went silent for a few seconds. Finally Kaiser Andrew broke the silence. "That's quite a request." he stated. "Mr.Montgomery, could you give us look at the military side of things?" he said, looking over at the Parliamentary Electee of Defense.

Winston Montgomery looked around. "Well to be frank, Danix Island has very little chance of winning this one if the Bladians throw their full military might at them. Danix Island has almost no military budget and has a tiny population compared to the Bladians, who have a very healthy military budget." he explained. "While at the same time, if Afen, and only Afen were to get involved, there is no telling whether the Afenians or the Bladians would come out victorious." he continued. "We would have to bring the Luxians in with us in order to have good odds of successfully defending the Island."

"Would the Luxians allow this?" Prime Minister Greene asked.

"The Luxians would be a little weary but willing to aid us for such a cause." Lester Trudeau answered.

"What about our people? Are the Afenians willing?" Prime Minister Greene asked.

Kaiser Andrew smiled. "That is what we have Parliamentary Representatives for." he said. He looked down at the Conductor.

The Conductor struck his gavel. "We will now have a vote." he announced. "All those against intervening in the situation at raise your hand now." he said. About forty percent raised their hands. "You may now lower your hands. All those in favor raise your hands now." he ordered. About fifty percent raised their hands.

"Very well." Kaiser Andrew said. "I will write to the remaining leaders of Danix Island, offering the assistance of the Empire." he continued. "I believe that concludes this meeting." he finished, looking down at the Conductor.

The Conductor struck his gravel twice and everyone began to take their leave.

"Alright, what have we got down there, Squire?"

Flight Lieutenant Peter Squire banked his aircraft slightly as he looked down across the Udina port. From his vantage point, he could see some movement down below; people setting up gun positions behind sandbags. No heavy vehicles were in sight at the time though; this was a positive step, Squire thought. Keying his radio transmitter, he replied to Flight Captain Heinrich Wald, his wingman and commanding officer. "I'm seeing people and small arms, Herr Captain," Squire replied as his Typhoon circled the area. "Nothing bigger than that right now."

Squire was about to add something to this statement when his radar began buzzing. Looking down at the screen, he swore to himself. "Herr Captain, I've got multiple bogeys incoming." Squire looked up and out the side of his cockpit glass; he could see Wald's Typhoon taking position on the wing of his own aircraft. "What should we do?"

Before Wald could respond, the radio crackled with the voice of a Danix Island pilot. "Attention Typhoon aircraft, you have entered Danix Airspace, What country are you from?"

From his own cockpit, Wald pursed his lips under his oxygen mask. Reaching down, he changed radio channels to contact the Pracht. "Eyeball One to Command, we are showing foot-targets on the port, negative on heavy weapons. We have multiple incoming bogeys requesting our identity. Request instructions."

After a moment that seemed to last an eternity, the radio crackled in response. "Eyeball One, this is Command. You may identify according to standard operating protocols. Do not fire until fired upon."

Wald nodded. He then switched his radio to the frequency being used by the Danix Island fighters. "Unidentified aircraft, this is Flight Captain Heinrich Wald of the Republic von Lebengeberland Himmelarmee. We are aware of our position in Danix Airspace at this time and caution you against hostile action. I repeat, hostile action will be acted upon." Changing channels once again, Wald contacted his wingman. "Squire, transmit that surveillance information and turn and burn, we're getting out of here."

As the two Typhoons began transmitting their limited recon information, the two pilots turned away from Danix Island and accelerated back towards the fleet. Meanwhile, the Pracht began transmitting commands to the Stahl and the Vaterland, the two Ticonderoga-class cruisers in the fleet's retinue. Tomahawk missiles were fed targeting information for some of the emplacements; the Typhoons had only managed to gather limited details about troop locations on the Port, so plans for the assault would call for a widespread bombardment of the seafront. Several buildings around the port were targeted, and a total volley of 20 Tomahawks were thrown into the air from VLS cells on either vessel, each arcing gracefully into the air and turning towards Danix Island. Command hoped that initial waves of bombardment would soften the target for the approach of the troops.

Meanwhile, as the Tomahawks lifted into the sky, the first wave of Sea Knight helicopters lifted into the sky. 12 helicopters, 300 troops in total onboard, rotated away from the Pracht and started to follow the direction the Tomahawks had gone. They would make their approach, holding outside of SAM firing ranges if necessary if a second round of missiles were required. As the Sea Knights took to the sky, the entire 2nd Fleet picked up speed to close the distance to the Danix Island coast in order to speed up the future movement of more troops onto the mainland as required.
