Main Parade Ground
Royal Military Academy of Razeron, 1100 Hour.

These will be the beginning of a new Golden Age.
Senior Under Officer Michael Renata of the House of Altaire suddenly remembered what the Adjutant said to him just the day before the opening ceremony. He was on his way to the viewing platform, where in front of the main parade ground where a parade marches by the new intake officer cadets were - all 500 of them - were underway. It was quite a sight actually, when he arrived he saw that regimentals banners were hoisted as if it was a festival, the brass band from the Altaire Regiments played 'Rise Above' in a medium beat tempo... but the marches on the field, well, they could use a lot of training for sure. Usually the first year first semester student’s qualities were just terrible.

"What does the Colonel meant by that? Golden age?" He said, finally arriving to his seat where his subordinate Junior Under Officer Alessandra Lindsay Alfred greeted him. The parade on the ground came to an end, and then a sharp shouting from another SUO echoed just underneath, commanded order for the cadet to stand at attention.

"Where were you? It's not like you to be late." she said, casually looking over from her seat.

"Something took place...don't bother about it. So how are we doing with all this?" Renata said while unbuttoning the top of his ceremonial dress uniform. It was really hot actually and Renata was clearly irritated by it.

"Well, the usual tradition - letting cadets wait for a full hour ended, and now they're too just finished taking a walk. The Vice Chancellor should be addressing them now...and yeah looks like it." she says again. In the center part of the viewing platform where the administration officials gathered a very mean looking man age half a century old took to the stage after being introduced by the emcee on duty. On the old man ceremonial dress uniform, two stars were pinned to his shoulder epaulette, a clear representation for his authority.

Major General Hokota Malark, Royal Redzoni Army, started his speech. Michael turn to listen as well.

"This should be fun, I wonder if he's going to recycle last year's opening speech for the 3rd time as well?" Around them a thunderous claps echoed throughout the platform. But Michael noted the sun is starting to burn, it was almost the afternoon. Oh boy... I can seriously feel pity them.

"Shut up Michael. They'll hear you"

OOC: Hello and sorry for the late start. Here goes, as a direction for all players; you are already standing at attention in the main parade ground. The no 2 of Razeron is about to give his speech and yeah, to your annoyance the sun very warm at this time. Ah a nice weather indeed.~

OOC: Not my best post. I just want to get things started.

Main Parade Ground...

Officer Cadet Tora Shoma stood at attention in the heat of the day with 499 of her fellows and tried to concentrate on the speech. It wasn't easy. Apparently this whole charade was for tradition and good looks only, because she had yet to hear anything of substance. She first got the sense that the speaker was a fan of recycling, because it sounded like he'd said all of these exact words before, and they didn't exactly fluff her tail. Then she started to get the sense that the other officers on the platform shared her feelings, judging by their expressions and the way they muttered to each other, and resisted the urge to smile slightly.

Then there was, well, herself. If there was a single other non-human here she hadn't seen them, the cadet in front of her and the two beside her were both human, or something very close to it. She was acutely aware, at least, of being the only kitsune present, and she knew that it made her conspicuous, she had orange and alabaster fur and no one else did, she had a snout and a muzzle and the others did not, her tail curled occasionally or flicked a little bit and it was painfully obvious that it was hers because no one else had one. Even if a given instructor wanted to treat everyone equally they couldn't avoid noticing her, though exactly what they might do once she had their attention was anyone's guess. That wasn't the worst part, though.

The worst part, she decided, was the climate. She came from a cold world, she'd been flown her through the frozen reaches of space on a starship kept at frigid temperatures, and now it felt like she was in the tropics. Little furs were already dusting the shoulders of her uniform; she dearly hoped no one was allergic, because she was going to be shedding quite a lot of winter fur over the next week or so. If only there was a pool, or a bath, even the chance to unbutton the front of her tunic would have been a relief. But she didn't dare break rank while the man was still droning on.

So she suffered quietly. The universe, Tora reflected, had an odd sense of humor. She'd said she wanted to join the military, and this was what she got, sent to a backrocket planet in the middle of nowhere to learn the art of war from foreigners. Foreigners! What did these people know? How could they enlighten her? She felt degraded, belittled, marginalized. Someone out there was having a good laugh at her expense.

Yet, she tried to convince herself she should be grateful. It was, after all, a unique experience. The Kitsune Empire didn't exactly make it policy to send people out to places like this, if the decision had been made to send her someone must have seen merit in it. Perhaps it would be revealed in time. After all, as the saying went, when the student is ready, the master would appear. Staring dully at the Major General, however, she found herself wishing this particular master would disappear posthaste.
What she would have done for so much as a spot in the shade!

Ted Shuerman stared, rather blankly, at the man starting to give a speech. This man carried some rank, that was clear. What he was saying had to hold some importance, or did it? He remembered how the principal of his high school recited from heart a speech to the freshmen, in front of the whole school. It would have been fine if it were just to the freshmen, but why have every other graduating class there, hearing it all again. It was annoyingly phony.

The weather did nothing to help him, causing him to sweat profusely. His mind began to wonder. He began thinking of how his life was going to be here, and what the policy was on various things. Perhaps the Major General would inform him.

His eyes started wondering around the crowd of other cadets. He spotted one, peculiar looking woman, obviously not human, unless humans had recently sprouted tails and grown fur. Ted decided he'd try and talk to her eventually, and try not to offend her. He was curious.

Fabrizio stood in the courtyard. He scratched his leg and looked around noticing the cadets around him. He waited patiently as the man on the stage gave his speech. The man was obviously some one high up in the military, but GOD it is not interesting to stand here and listen to him.

The sweltering heat didn't make it any easier, he stood there trying to ignore the mosquito on his arm. He noticed the humanoid among the ranks, he couldn't help but look for couple of seconds to observe it, whether it was a he or a she. Standing here listening to this aging relic was not a pleasant thing after having flown 10 hours in coach and being driven here in an over crowded bus with a broken air conditioning system. He just had to wait till the speech was over.

Hot and tired and irritated, that was how Prince Enoch Tubal-Cain felt; he sighed inwardly but outwardly was staring ahead at nothing, standing at attention. What was the point of this? It looked so easy when he saw the Guards on parade back home in Fineberg; now he had an inkling of what they went through. He kept his hands properly at his sides, his heels together. Sweat trickled uncomfortably around his face. He wished he was at a swimming pool or something. Without thinking he instinctively shook his head as a fly landed on his cheek, irritating him hugely.

Standing there at perfect attention not even flinching a muscle was Tomas Ilias, he had only just graduated top of his platoon from military training and was given the honour, the chance to come train at the RMAR, he had accepted immediately and within a day he was on a plane here.

Now that he was here he found the weather easy going, the parade grounds didn't seem to be full of hundreds of troops practicing....a rather dull place

Valen Hsu stood at attention in the Parade Square, along with the 499 other cadets now listening to the speech. He had already gone through Drackonisian military training, and was well prepared for what came along here. Or so he hoped. The weather wasn't much different from home and his prior miltiary experience, though relatively limited had made him better prepared for what lay ahead. He avoided looking at the other candidates and attempted to remain focused on the speech.

As the time went by, he found his mind drifting back to home, where he had grown up in an army orphanage and began his service at age 14, as required by the law for orphans. He hoped the training here wouldn't be much different from what he had experienced back in Drakengarde, still he wasn't about to let complacency lull him into a false sense of security. Snapping out of his musings, he continued listening to the speech impassively, no one had noticed him drifting off yet. Twiddling his toes imperceptibly in his boots to stave off boredom, little tricks like these you pick up in basic military training helped a lot when asked to stand at attention for extended periods. Having some prior experience does come in handy.

It wasn't easy for the new Officer Cadets, General Hokota Malark thought inside his head, yet he also knew that it was customary for every Razeron students to go through the same ordeal on their very first day here. Walking toward the podium with pride and a gleaming confidence the 56 years old man -just four more years to a hopefully pleasant retirement and a compensation third star as a gift - he held his head high, and the far side camera was ensured to capture the good look of him.

He cleared his throat, and then started to look at the script prepared in advance, well it was quite long, and he wasn't really fond of that. A quick skim through the two pages made him realize it was pretty much the same damn thing that the university chancellor had the year before that, and the year before that as well, (perhaps it went back a few more years actually). He wasn't fond of that at all. Repetition is dull and boring, so he smiled and decided to discard that whole speech.

Well that was sure going to upset some low ranking Young Officer who made that speech.

"My fellow comrade in arms, honorable officers and faculty of the Royal Military Academy of Razeron I came here standing before you to fill in His Majesty the King of Redzon, and the Chancellor; General Estella White who could not make it here today with us - she send you her best regards however - to speak about several important aspects. So bear in mind, and please bear the heat as well, what I am about to speak to you is important."

Hokota raised his tone, almost yelling.

"But first let me congratulate all of you for being accepted into Razeron! By simply standing here, I want you to know that you are already among the best of the best!" a thunderous applause followed from those sitting on the platform, Hokota slowed down, composing his next choice of words - wasn't really poetic but it will do. "What you do not know is that Razeron rejected tens of thousands applications ever since its establishment 5 years ago. All of you, all 503 Officer Cadets had beaten thousands of others...a great deal as a matter of fact. I want to let you know how proud I am to be standing in the presence of this batch of winners, and for that I welcome all of you to Razeron!"

"However I would also want you to know, by standing here, by being here, sacrifices will be demanded from the lot of you. For the next three years, your previous identity as a civilian will be discarded. It will not be easy the mental, physical and academic challenges will put you to the test. I dare to say that Razeron will break you, destroy you into pieces and then rebuild you into something that you yourself perhaps cannot imagine."

"You are now a soldier of Razeron, serving here today in order to lead for the future We as your officers and your teachers will give our best so that you can have the best!"

Rikael stood stock still, just like his parents had taught him, just like everyone he knew did. He knew he was the only Narcul here, even though he was a "Half". He wished it was not so humid, he was used to dry boiling heat or the cold damp, not this tropical like heat. He remembered the absolutely frigid day in Thralasa were as a young teenager he had to perform a march for hours. "At least my skin isn't blue" He thought as he listened to General Malark. He liked him, he was a no-nonsense sort of man which was a attribute Rikael held in high regard."Better than a frilly Commander " he thought as he continued to listen.

Aistaraina, Princess of Alcedina, was in a fairly good mood despite the hot and humid weather in Raezeron, quite distinct from the often cold and windy climate in Angrenost and the even dark and freezing weather of the deep valley of Imlad Dûr from which the young princess and her neglibly influential branch of the Imperial House of Alcedina yielded.

The reason for the young girl's good mood, a sharp contrast to her previous training in foreign nations militaries, was two fold, well actually three fold. First of all Aistarania was happy because for the first time she was not expected to ignore the fact that she had a brain, and a quite capable one at that, and pretend to be some mindless drone of a steroid addicted soldier brute unable to count without using his fingers. No for the first time Aistaraina was expected to use her brains. With steps under way to reconcile the Kingdom of Redzon with La Imperium Populi into a second Quendisphere her older brother had requested her not just to go to Razeron to be a poster girl for the still lacking gender equality in the armed forces of the Quendi. No, she was now as much an envoy and even a spy as she was a recruit. She would be expected to file regular repports to the Admirality and the Ministry of Warfare and the Military to asses the possibility of closer integration between Redzon and La Imperium Populi in military matters. Not exactly the job for a steroid drone.

The second reason Aistaraina actually found herself looking forward to her stay was that unlike her previously meager results she was now actually quite suited at several of the drills. While it was true she couldn't lift a great weight and would be crushed by every single one of the five hundred other cadets in any form of wrestling or other close contact combat she had other qualities. For instance she could run silently and rapidly over long distances without loosing her breath. Though she prefered the more refined art of archery she could with most rifles in existence place a bullet in the head of an enemy. She could swim like a fish, bite like a snake, jump like a gazelle to put it poeticly. Her frail body, the result of both her gender and her race, was perhaps not a match for a marine soldier type but her spirit and her preserverance was strong.

The third reason, the one that shouldn't mean anything but did none the less give her a fuzzy feeling inside, was the fact that while she had been ordered to go her elders had asked for her oppinion on the political reasons behind sending her to Raezeron. Even if it was just a clever scheme to make her consent and go without complaining it had none the less made the girl happy. Finally it appeared as if she would be respected as an adult and not like the fourth child of a very succesful soldier family.

Thus the blonde haired grey eyed lithe quendi princess was smiling a warm smile as she stood bathed in the warm and pleasent rays of the sun. She had plenty of reasons for being in a good mood, and while she hid it carefully from herself the last words her brother had said to her before she left Angrenost still rang through her mind like an elusive but irresistble charm. In the darkest corner of her heart the words had sown a seed that where already begining to grow.

As the man began to speak again Tora snapped her attention back into focus. She noticed suddenly that he'd put down his notes and was addressing them without so much as glancing down at them; judging by his tone and cadence, he was speaking freely, not from a script. That made her feel a bit better, at least he wasn't going to give them some prepackaged, one-size-fits-all speech. Some of the other cadets were fidgeting a little bit, though others remained perfectly still. She didn't move an inch, but wondered at that; was it okay to move a little, or were the others merely being undisciplined? She didn't want to break rank and be singled out, because she knew that if she were standing at attention on a parade ground of the Kitsune Imperial Army and did so, she would be in for a harsh punishment.

Despite this, she couldn't help but give a small smile when the General mentioned the heat. Evidently he felt it too. At his next words, however, her smile dropped. She didn't feel like a winner, how great of an accomplishment was it for her, coming from where she did, to get into an academy like this? It might have been prestigious for the others of this world, but for her it had just been a foregone conclusion. The Kitsune Empire had wanted her here, and here she was. Wasn't that just how things worked?

At the warning of sacrifice, though, she felt more comfortable. It was something concrete, a challenge, an opportunity to prove herself for herself. She would die here in the halls of Razeron, and be reborn on the parade ground. Soon it would break her, and then she would be strong in the broken places. The idea pleased her, glory, honor, family, these were familiar ideals she could get behind. It might have been her imagination, but she thought she stood a little taller, despite her diminutive 4,11 height.

Three years. Enoch sighed inwardly. He somehow doubted that he'd be bored but it sure sounded boring. At least compared with actually serving in action as he'd hoped to be able to. He already missed home. It was a drier heat here; dusty and hot.

Speaking of hot though he could not help but check out some of the girls in the formation, his eyes flicking at them, attention wandering a bit during the general's speech. He saw dome inhuman looking ones too; either tribal dress or that was actually fur.

Alex Henry Yants stood there, not moving a muscle. This would be his proving time. This would be his opportunity to shine. He didn't listen to the officer's speech to much- his mind was swirling with information and thoughts. One moment, he was calculating the effect that a 2% higher interest rate could have upon the Orion housing markets in Caninope, and the next he was thing of the team he would be put with.

He was still wondering why he had been chosen, not just to come to the military academy but to move through the Caninopian military so fast. He had little idea. He had been told that he was intelligent, but he just paid attention. He was told that he was strong, but he just picked things up. He was told he was a marksman, but he just shoot things that moved.

Regardless, he was determined to make the most of the next three years here at the Razeron military academy. Hopefully, he would become not just an officer but a real leader.

OOC: Oh well, guess we'll move ahead for now.

Half an hour had passed when General Hokota ended his speech, followed with another briefing which Senior Under Officer Michael Renate thought to turned out somewhat dry and boring, and it ended soon after - he didn't even pay any attention. Luckily the sun scorching heat began to waned off as the skies overhead turn cloudy. He wondered perhaps rain may falls sometime in the evening. Maybe. If it is, then sucks to be the new cadet. He had planned something rather 'playful' for his unit new cadets...

The opening ceremony continued with another Senior Under Officer leading the 1st year cadet to the compulsory oath swearing. It went by without a fuss, apparently the cadet had been briefed and practiced the Knight's Creed before hand and accomplished it with perfect unity, the parade ground echoed with their one loud voice.

"To put our faith before God,
To put our allegiance for land and the King, to be prepared to sacrifice our life in the service of the country
To preserve military discipline,:
- said the intake out loud on the field.

There were more to it actually but somewhat the reluctant Renata choose to ignore it completely. He sighed. He just want his final year to end as soon as possible. 12 more months. Then he'll be gone from this hell hole.

Meanwhile, somewhere across the field... the lone Crusader, like the rest of the new intake took the oath taking ceremony quite personally. Little did the academy knew his true identity. His mission, a rather clandestine one, begins now...

Death to the infidels! he thought out aloud. Pretending to swear allegiance to this academy and the First Kingdom.

At the front of the parade,

"Thank God it's over..." underneath the uniform, Senior Under Officer Valentino Alexga took a breath of relief. He decided his first day as a 3rd year wasn't that bad after all, though he find it disturbing that Michael Renata, one of the four regimental Senior Under Officer refused this task even though it was supposed to be Renata's regiment that was supposed to lead the opening ceremony.

When the emcee announced that the VIP will be leaving, he turned to face the entire parade, and on top of his voice gave out the command:

"At ease!" and the 500 something plus new intake did so, he gave another other "Attention!" before he himself march to the front to salute General Hokota Malark. They exchanged a few words and then the former saluted the later again.

"Junior! You are given 15 minutes of rest and then exactly at 1205 everyone must be inside the Canselor Hall. Fall out!"

OOC: Hmm, something's off...let's take this slow and easy shall we.

Cadet Yants turned and headed back into the hall. It seemed that things would become quite interesting. As it stood, everyone actually used those 15 minutes of rest. To him, that was unheard of. Back home in Caninope, it was always for the government, for the country, for you family. There was never any rest time.

He had 15 minutes to get to the hall, not far away. This was the real start of his training here, not some parade and such meant to lift spirits. He was here to be student.

Finally letting her stiff muscles relax, Tora slumped slightly where she stood. It really had gone on for too long, but at least now she could get into the shade. Stretching, arms rising above her head, her ears perked before she curled her tail and let out a fox-like whine, putting a hand on the small of her back, pushing in and then bending over, trying to work out all the kinks. Straightening up again, she looked around, intent on finding a tree she could rest under for a few minutes, but she couldn't see any inside the compound -it seemed a nearby building would have to do. Stepping into the structure's shadow, she leaned against the wall, one boot resting there, and wondered if there was a place nearby where she could get water. The coolness on her fur needed to be extended to her dry mouth and parched throat.

Fabrizio stood at attention until the officer had finished speaking, as soon as he was done and the men were dismissed for a short break, he heard some sighs of relied around him, most of them were probably very thirsty due to the dam heat. Curiosity eventually got the better of him and he approached the fox/human girl who was leaning against the building, probably seeking refuge in the cool shade. He walked over to her and tried to be as inconspicuous as possible,
"Hi I'm Fabrizio from Rustika, who are you?"
He extended a hand assuming that handshaking would also be a formal way to greet others in her country too.

Canselor Hall

Michael Renata was in the ready room. In a few more minutes he would be making his debut as one out of four of the highest ranking Officer Cadet in Razeron. Senior Under Officer (SUO) of the House of Alistaire. He prepared himself both mentally and physically, though he had done a lot of briefing previously, certainly no one wishes to see a final year student slipped up in the middle of stage and especially in front of all the first year cadets.

Image is important. He took a deep breathe. His assistant and colleague, Junior Under Officer (JUO) Alessandra Lindsay Alfred, whom he had affectionately called simply and Lynn were standing behind him.

"Break a leg." She said, smiling.

"OK. Here goes nothing." and he replied, and casually walk off into the front stage to a glimmering spot light where half a thousand men and women were seen seated to their own comfortable cushioned chair, directly facing him. The adrenaline kicks in, the hell with my rank! He thought out aloud, apparently the sensation of standing in a full battalion strong is different that what he had expected.

Oh why the hell did I got this job? He thought again, this time hiding his anxiety brilliantly with his smile.

"Ladies and gentlemen." Senior Under Officer Michael Renata began his opening speech and in the same time starred at the neared officer cadet. "Welcome to Razeron. Well, let's get this show on the road immediately shall we? I know most of you guys are worn out by this morning parade, so just sit back and relax the air conditioner...all I am asking is that you give me your full attention for the next 15 minutes or so as I explain the basic things that you need to know."

"I am Michael Renata. Your 3rd year Senior Under Officer."

OOC: Where is the rest of the player?
