But then I have a peculiar political view even for Irish standards. And Irish standards are weird. The main reason we don't mention our Civil War is because no two people agree what happened.

America is split in half, one side democratic, the other republican.
The philosophy thats in use is, when in doubt blame the other party.
the only other option is to attack someone else and blame it on terrorism and world <fill in bad thing here>

In France, we have the UMP(Union pour un Mouvement Populaire)(Union for a Popular Movement), and the Parti Socialiste(Socialist Party).
And in France, when in doubt, blame the other party-method works just as well too...Although it's less successful, for many reasons, one of the most important one being that we have more than just two parties.
Also, now, just like in America and "terrorism", our parties blame Christian Fundamentalists, also know as the Front National(National Front)...
