Heh, I love the French. Seriously. Of course, one of the reasons is that without the French, who would there be to joke about, but I actually really like them. For example, you have a lovely language (although complicated). Nevertheless, I still love to poke fun at you frogs - and Elsass-Lothringen is something Germany and France should have some serious talks about...

Alsace-Lorraine. My second favourite part of France. Purely because in Strasbourg is the nicest kebab shop in the world.

Also, Jbeil...History says: Elsass and Lothringen were originally German, annexed by the French in 1600-something, taken back by the Germans 1871. The French took it 1918 (Bloody Treaty of Versailles...), we got it back in '40, you took it back in '45. But to be honest, there are parts of Poland for which there is no justification of being Polish (other than taking them away from Germany), so we should rather argue about them.

See this is why Britain rules, we never lost territory to Germans or French but were more than willing to cause problems in taking it from you and giving it to someone else

The Channel Islands were given up rather wilfully as it was almost impossible for us to defend it. Plus they aren't technically part of Britain. They are like half independent. Its all very Technical, similar to Gibraltar. That is like half independent so the EU doesn't wrongfully demand we give it to Spain.

Calais is fair enough I suppose. It was attacked after fortifications around the city began to decay due to cost and they won it fair and square.
