ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON THE EMPEROR

Yesterday during the debate on the Sheep for Meat Act, a sniper tried to assassinate our Emperor Ulysseses Sigurd Doom II. The assassin fortunately had a terrible aim and missed.
Today the Emperor has informed us that his assassin has been captured.
"He was found and captured at 3:30 AM this morning near the boarders of the nation trying to escape back to wherever he came from. The Emperor has been interrogating him ever since." Comments Raymond Villalobos, the Captain of the Emperor's Guards.
The Emperor himself has graciously informed us on what he found out.
"The assassin refused to disclose his identity, but stated that his allegiance was with The Avantian Union, a nation which I've been trying to form allies with. Unfortunately the man bit down on a suicide pill and killed himself."
Emperor Doom was also gracious enough to take an interview, which can be found on page A7.
-INTERVIEW WITH THE EMPEROR-

Earlier today the Emperor invited me to his castle after accepting the interview.
Tarkington: Everyone wants to know, do you believe that that the Avantion Union is really behind the assasination attempt?
Emperor Doom: No I do not. This nation is of no use to the Avantion Union. If they were to defeat and capture this empire they would drain every last bit of natural resources from our land, making it rather useless to them. So no, I dont believe they had anything to do with this. As such there will be no retaliation of acts of revenge against the Avantion Union by anybody in this empire.
Tarkington: Who do you believe is behind this then?
Emperor Doom: I dont know. But, whoever it was obviously doesnt agree with the way I do things.
Tarkington: Could it have been somebody from this Empire?
Emperor Doom: I highly doubt it. The assassin's rifle was a model we dont produce here, and we have not yet opened trade with any other Nations.
Tarkington: What do you think was the motive behind this assasination attempt?
Emperor Doom: As I said before, Somebody obviously doesn't like the way I run things. I can see why, dictatorships arent exactly popular. Whoever is behind this wants me and this Empire gone. Rather than declare an open war against this Empire they've chosen to instead make somebody else do it.
Tarkington: How would they do that?
Emperor Doom: The assassin might have been ordered to intentionally miss his shot, allow himself to be captured, and then claim loyalty to the Avantion Union in the hopes that I would retaliate and start a with the Avantions that we would assuredly lose.
Tarkington: Are you saying that our armies are unable to defeat the Avantion Army?
Emperor Doom: Yes, unfortunately. This Empire is still very new, our armies have yet to see battle. The Avantain Army however has captured many other Nations, and has years of experience and training that our armies dont have. Our armies are undergoing they're own training mind you, but it'll be quite a few years before we can stand a chance agianst them.
Tarkington: What about the W.A.? With there help surely we'd be be able to--
Emperor Doom: If the W.A. were to help us we might stand somewhat of a chance, but I highly doubt the Avantion Union stands alone. They have allies, and if war was declared on them, I'm sure their allies would get involoved. But whether or not we can defeat them does not matter. I've already said it once, no retaliation or acts of revenge will be taken against the Avantion Empire or any other nation, and If I hear of anybody doing anything to the contrary I'll have them arrested and thrown in prison.
Tarkington: Will you make any contact with the Avantion Empire about what has happened?
Emperor Doom: Of course! Something is going on here, and there's more to it than it appears. If the Avantion's truly had nothing to do with the attempt to end my life, whoever did may have it out for the Avntion Union as well. In fact destroying us may be a stepping stone to an even bigger goal, perhaps the destruction of the W.A. itself. However these are just theories, I could be right, but I also could be dead wrong.
