"A new map would be a good idea. My memory says that the capital is build alongside the bay. the old harbour. There is a small historic centre that is called the Benedestad or literary the Downtown. Luckily for us the Council House of the colony is located outside that old city along a wide boulevard with is surrounded by parks and public buildings. The rest is mainly straight, wide streets and motorways, a lot of parks and gardens and single- or two-story houses. The railway and bus- station is located close to to the Council House. The local municipal council house is located on a small square alongside the port and that would be the most dangerous objective if they would choose to resist."

"The base is located alongside the East Coast in a bay some 15 miles south of the city. The airport is a couple of hundred meters from that base. There is a motorway running next to it but approaching it could be a problem if they have fortified the rocky outcrops north and south of the bases."

"Well, depending on how quickly they would want to attack civilian targets or their own capital, they should not be a problem. If they do not mind tho, smart bombs may have to be used to put the runway out of use temporarily."

"In that case it might work to bomb the outcrops and land straight into the bay and storm the base from there and thus pushing on to the capital. One could land more troops at Kristalbaai, which is a bay north of the capital. Normally the place where people take the children for what I have seen."

"Then that location with the children may be a problem if they are not aware of the situation. When desperate, a human being will do anything to support what he wants, sometimes also using young civilians as armor. But still, bombing the runway shall not restrict VTOL capable aircraft and helicopters."

"One could first fly over the area and see whether there is some activity down there." The commodore said. "If not .. then the troops will have to be land on the Northern part of the peninsula on which the capital is.. as the rest is hills and mountains with dense jungles, but that's some 50 miles from the capital."

"Just remember, if it is too clear to see, then the people on ground will obviously see what is going on and raise the alert. And, let's face it, even with no planes 50,000 armed men is not something to underestimate."

"That's why I am not in favour of letting the group land on the Northern Coast as they would have to drive over narrow roads where they can be easily blown up. It would be best if a landing surprised them."

"Just a question: how does the island and the military bases get their power from?" asked Ryan Gache.

"Power is very decentralised in Free Tristania and thus also in most colonies. Apart from the mayor cities it's more of a network of people having their own solar panels then anything else. There is however a hydro-electric station for the capital and the base at Franschhoek which is located on a river some 30 miles inland. But I am sure that the base will have it's own generators and maybe even a small power-plant. I can remember being there once and also they had solar panels on roofs."

"Not too hard. If one aims well.. that should be an air force job. I remember that some of those pylons on which the cables rested were massive. Some 30 metres high or even higher in some places because of the dense forests and the ravines. "

"Well, to save the problem of having to rebuild pylons if they are too dangerous, maybe C-130 Specters could be used to take out the wiring?" inquired the P.M.

"Do you have any Pavelows? Even a C-130 with some machine guns in it? They are quite vital in large battlefields, being able to deploy an aerial cannon alongside two Gatling guns is quite a punch in a War."

"For what I know 5th Helicopter Squadron still uses the Pavelows. They are located just south of Handelshaven. But they could be dispatched if the need arises."

(OOC: Not really. It would be time to start working on the embassy and prepare the Free Tristanian government to move against the rebellious colonies)

The diplomat checked his watch "Unfortunately.. it is now eight o'clock in the morning.. and Nicholls and I will have to work on the embassy - in getting it all sorted. The press conference will be on monday morning nine 'o clock" (he checked his notebook) ".. this leaves us the rest of the weekend to sort everything out."

The two men stood up and thanked the Prime Minister for his time. "Let's hope it will indeed run smoothly. That there may be many more years of fruitful cooperation between our two nations."the commodore added.
