OOC: This is the part that I forgot to post.

IC:

Fortareatan Embassy, New Olwe, before the deployment of the First Air Fleet

"As you can see, milady, the our Supreme People's Council has ordered me to tell you that the Fortareatan People's Army is prepared to send aid to your nation in this time of war. In fact, our First Air Fleet is ready to be launched to your aid," Ambassador Bogoescu told Lady Devincenzi. The Fortareatan delegation and the New Olwean representative (with some guards) are currently in the Fortareatan Embassy following the order that all diplomats must return to their respective embassies for their own safety. The Fortareatan Embassy's stealth generators are online, so this said embassy could be considered as one of the safest places in the New Olwean capital.

"Heck, if you want to, I could ask the Army to deploy our orbiting ion cannons to obliterate the Nicksyllvanian invasion force. No wait, I should ask them instead to deploy that other superweapon that we control, the one our scientists completed developed last month. One shot from that and New Nicksyllvania is gone for good. What do you say?" The Fortareatan ambassador offered.

"Is that so?" Lady Devincenzi asked. She still has no idea of what the Fortareatan Army can do, but she knows that given their level of technology, they should be able to turn the tide of war to their favor. "Then, on behalf of the New Olwean government, I thank Fortareata for their support," she continued. "But we do have one request to make."

"And that would be?" Bogoescu asked.

"That the Fortareatan Army refrain from using their most advanced, and not to mention destructive, weapons in their arsenal. Not only would that cause too many casualties, it could also result in a much bigger war than what we are in now," Lady Devincenzi said.

"If that is what you wish," Bogoescu replied. He was personally relieved that New Olwe would not insist that Fortareata would use its most devastating weapons. On the other hand, we was disappointed that he wouldn't get to watch a light show like the one he saw in the revolution. He was more glad that no lives would be lost, however.

"Well then, as per your request, we will send only our First Air Fleet fitted with conventional weapons and carrying only conventional aircraft, and send only one to two cyborg divisions and one armored division, thus making up a 20,000-strong force. Would that be enough?" The Fortareatan ambassador asked.

"Yes, that will be enough," the New Olwean representative replied.

The drone controlled by Bogoescu suddenly beeped.

"Oh. It seems that I have a call. Excuse me," he said. "Yes. Uh huh. Okay. Good. No, they won't. Okay. What? Oh, right. Will do. Andrei out." He then said, as if talking to himself. Lady Devincenzi wondered whether the Fortareatan long-range communications system is purposefully made that way to make the Fortareatans seem like people talking to their imaginary friends, or the ambassador just forgot to do something important. She's more inclined to believe that the Ambassador Bogoescu just forgot something, though.

"Milady, the head of the expeditionary force just called. He requests that we be allowed to send one experimental fighter to test its capabilities in actual combat. He also said that they borrowed a large fleet of yours, one that was spotted near the coast nearest to Fortareata. He requests that the captains of those ships not be punished for transporting foreign troops without your permission. It is an emergency, after all," Bogoescu told Lady Devincenzi.

"You will be allowed to test out your fighter, provided that it will not be armed with any biological or nuclear weapons. As for the ships, I will inform the Grand Duke," Lady Devincenzi replied.

"Thank you. If you would excuse me, milady. I have to make my report to the Council concerning your requests," Bogoescu said.

"That's fine, Ambassador. I have to take my leave as well," Lady Devincenzi answered.

"Be careful then, milady. And some of these cyborg guards would follow you after they have finished their preparations. Please don't think that we're belittling the abilities of your guards; we're just following the Fortareatan custom that we should repay your efforts for us by doing something for you. Something within the bounds of reason, of course. Oh, and you won't need to wait for the cyborgs; they're excellent trackers," The Ambassador said at last.

"All right, thank you. I will report all that we talked about to the Grand Duke immediately." After saying those words, Lady Devincenzi then waved to her guards, who then left the room in a single-file line. The lady herself walked out afterwards. About eight cyborg guards then followed the New Olweans about ten minutes after they left the embassy.

“Right On!”

Postby Narodna Odbrana » Wed Nov 11, 2009 3:48 am

“Thanks, Ma’am!” the big man said to Kara. Then, lifting his bullhorn to his lips, he shouted: “All right, boys! Let’s get this thing moving!”

All across the vessel, Tcho-Tchos began gabbling and hauling lines in every direction. The Vulture rose just above the tree-line and pivoted; swinging about, it began to gracefully slide towards the air base Jason had indicated as his destination.

“Watch for those enemy aircraft!” Jim Rainer shouted. “If they come too close, give ‘em a shot from the Hale rockets!”

One day after they had set sail, the Broadsword was in range of Olwean territory. It sent out a flurry of transmissions, attempting to reach the allied side to see what the situation was.

OOC: So, anyone got a place for me in the battle-plan?

Hello... Is anyone paying attention to me... :( I am on new Olwe's side by the way.

OOC: I believe this is strictly a MT-PMT RP, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to ignore the spaceship. I'll also ignore the nuclear attack for your sake, as it would warrant a massive nuclear retaliation according to our policy.

IC Response coming this night, just to see if anyone else has special deployments for the assault.

OOC: The spaceship is only for transport and wepon storage, dont worry aboult it. And unless you know how to use warpholes or warpdives,You wont be able to reach me to retaliate, and you wouldant be able to start your rockets anyway unless they have fuses, and if they do, They would probly still crash without the navagation computer.

IC: As gun-fire starts to reach the ears of the Toa, they begin to head for the beach to attack the nickies from the rear.

OOC P.S.: where did you get your flag from anyway? I have one in mind, but I'm no good with Paint.

The Toa and the Visorak Hordes pause aboult an hours march from the nikkie beachhead - Morelike a toehold at this point . OOC: I will attack as soon as I choose names and masks for my Toa.

Sir, Madam,

I, as President, and my entire country have noticed the ongoing war in your country. Though Noordeinde is very concerned about the situation we are not willing to join any of both sides in this conflict, but remain neutral.

But because of the situation, which might probably get worse, we will send a group of 25 Men of the "Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten" as reinforcement for our Protectional Forces to our embassy.

If the situation will get worse we might have to close our embassy untill it's safe enough to return.

The 17th Marine Division has linked up with the regular army and the 4th Fleet, to help repel the Nickies. The 8th Air Squadron is on the way as well.

'Commodore, we are picking up dozens of signals on sonar. What should we do?' asked a young ensign calmly.
'Launch 1st Flight as CAP until we know more,' replied Kurtzn 'and ready 2nd and 3rd for surface support.'

The twin engines on Lieutenant Kersin's Medafighter roared to life as it began screaming down the runway. His flight's birds were all loaded out with AMRAAM missiles, enough to protect the Broadsword, at least if it came to that. The other two flights were loaded up with bombs since the new torpedos they'd ordered hadn't arrived yet.

Meanwhile in the jungles of New Olwe, Captain Angelus, commander of the 2nd Squadron SOAM crawled out of the wreckage of the transport plane that had been carrying him and his men to the capital of New Olwe.

OOC: I'll finish this later. Bye...

For: His Royal Highness the Grand Duke Jason I Frost
From: His Excellency, President Joshua Jameson Long, Primus inter pares
Regarding: The unhappy situation in New Olwe

Your Highness,

I have lately been informed of the unfortunate situation which has befallen the Grand Duchy in recent days. I am unclear, I must confess, as to how much of New Nicksyllvania is behind this barbaric invasion, and while my intelligence workers have been going around the clock, a more pressing and immediate concern here is that you are being invaded at all, and by a most inhumane country. We have no doubt that if they are given the chance they will indulge in every atrocity you can imagine, rape, rapine, the whole lot.

Free Los Angeles has agreed, with authorization from Congress, to take on as many as ten thousand refugees from among those you wish to protect from the invaders, although between us, if there happen to be a few more, nobody will be much inclined to raise a ruckus for it. Several families have volunteered to house children, and we are already plotting out land spaces to hold refugee camps.

I would also like to establish an embassy with you, to more effectively coordinate this operation, and anything else necessary. Ms. Katherine Dortch would lead this embassy, and would be accompanied by such military forces as were deemed a necessary security precaution.

Sincerely,
President J. J. Long, Primus inter pares of the Republic of Free Los Angeles

“That’s 1-800-VULTURE...”

Postby Narodna Odbrana » Fri Nov 13, 2009 2:55 pm

The Vulture skimmed swiftly above the jungle treeline, reaching the Olwean airfield in a matter of minutes. To avoid Jason and Kara having to climb down rope ladders to the ground, the ether flyer slid in next to the rooftop of a low building whose roof was accessible by a stairwell and dropped a gangplank over onto the roof.

“Hey, good luck, man!” Captain Rainer called out to the pair. “Let me know if you need another ride. Pemba, give him a communicator!” One of the Tcho-Tchos scurried up and – with a grin that displayed his unnaturally sharp teeth – handed the Grand Duke a small radio of the sort that policemen often wore clipped to their lapels.

“Later!” Rainer said with a wave as the Vulture prepared itself to make way.

The Strigon's bridge

"Enemy fire at the starboard side!" A monitor reported. "The airship suffered no damage... yet. Our armor's still holding up."

"How long can our armor hold?" The captain asked.

"If we keep receiving this amount of punishment, our outer armor could hold for quite some time." Another monitor said.

"I'm not taking any chances. Increase altitude! They can't fire at us if we're too high up." The captain ordered.

"How are we going to hit the enemy fleet then, captain?" The first mate asked.

"Clear the bomb bays. Ready the cluster bombs. Prepare to bomb the enemy fleet," the captain replied.

The captain then fell silent, his mind filled with contentment. Just a little longer, he thought. We just need to keep the enemy fleet busy.

Outside

110 Fortareatan planes have been deployed to combat the New Nicksyllvanian planes guarding their fleet. Two airships have not released their planes yet; those planes are to be deployed if the first batch of fighters would become hard-pressed by the enemy. The Fortareatans were outnumbered by a considerable margin, but are fresher and more eager to fight, as opposed to the tired Nickie pilots. They fought evenly with the Nickies for the first few minutes, but gained the advantage as the battle grew longer. The airships that housed them provided support fire as well (while firing at enemy ships at the same time using their main gun batteries and cruise missiles).

The Fortareatan and New Nicksyllvanian pilots (or computers, which are piloting many of the Fortareatan planes) are so evenly matched that the Fortareatans are only winning because of one factor: Sylvia Alexandru and her CFA-44 Nosferatu. Sylvia managed to take out six enemy fighters before returning to the Strigon to reload (the Nosferatu's fuel cells can hold out for quite a long time). Her second and third runs produced similar results. The Nosferatu's signature weapon, the EML (a railgun), has been removed before the first run, but Sylvia's request to put them back on to make her job easier was granted.

Meanwhile, a fleet of New Olwean transport ships sailed without being spotted by enemies near the coast. They are currently headed for a beach a safe distance away from the Nycksillvanian left.

"The First Air Fleet is a pretty good distraction for us, no?" General Michael Agafitei, leader of the 20,000-strong Fortareatan expeditionary force sent to aid New Olwe, said with a smirk.

"I didn't think that would work," the New Olwean captain the General was talking to replied, still nervous.

"Ye of little faith, why do you doubt? We've tried that tactic before. Many times now, actually, and it has never failed us. And we're never in any danger from the Nickie fleet's guns anyway, since they're all trying to hit the Strigon's nigh-invincible armor. I'm sure Captain Ghezzo will come up with something before his ship comes to any real danger," General Agafitei told his friend the New Olwean captain.

Minutes later, the ships reached their destination and started to land troops.

"Are you sure that you cyborgs are fine wading in water?" The New Olwean captain asked General Agafitei. The General answered this by jumping off the ship and wading in waste-deep water. He wasn't harmed in any way. The captain then signaled his men to lower the ship's main hatch and let the Fortareatans position themselves on the beach. The crews of the other ships did the same thing.

The Fortareatan Expeditionary Force reached New Olwe unnoticed. Once they got on to dry land, they stood at attention, waiting for new orders.

The Fortareatan expeditionary force that was sent to my country in her hour of need is a most awe-inspiring, if not intimidating, sight to see. I have never really seen the reclusive nation of Fortareata in my forty-something years, but I can say from the appearance of these two infantry divisions and one armored division, I can say that it is not exactly a tropical paradise.

The expeditionary force itself consisted of two divisions of infantry, consisting of ten thousand soldiers each. There are about two thousand combat vehicles accompanying them, and several transports. For some reason, all of their soldiers are cyborgs (including their general, Michael Agafitei, a tall, lean man with a cybernetic left arm and a metal plate in the right side of his face), and all their vehicles are insect-like (I feel uncomfortable being the only fully organic human in the company of these semi-robotic soldiers). Their "tanks", or the closest thing to tanks that they have, are sleek, black scorpion-shaped vehicles with weapons just underneath that armor, or scorpion-tanks, if you will (pun intended). Strange, there seems to be no driver in those things. Are they automated? I will ask someone later. Their transports also bear a striking resemblance to a giant wood louse. It seems that the Fortareatan Army has some sort of obsession with giant arthropods (their national flag is even adorned with a scorpion tail design). Well, either that or they're really practical (they need vehicles that can easily cross through their rugged, mountainous terrain, and they invented them by looking at nature's designs).

If I can praise the Fortareatan expeditionary force for one thing besides their advanced weapons, it would be their discipline. In fact, never in my extensive travels to different nations have I seen an army as disciplined as the Fortareatans; not even here in New Olwe. As soon as they left the ships, all the cyborgs and vehicles immediately went with their respective squads and formed up in front of their officers, who went down from the ships first. The soldiers did not move an artificial muscle afterward.

They also seemed to pay attention to every word coming out of their general's mouth as he briefed them about the operation. This is to be a surprise assault of the Nickies' second trench, he said. And he followed himself up by saying that all the details were already discussed in the ships, so there was no more need to repeat himself. He also said that the officers would clarify the plan later in the transports.

It was only after they were ordered into the louse-shaped transports (who left the ships last, and parked with their doors open behind each squad) that the Fortareatan machine-men actually moved. They rapidly marched into the transports, carrying their supplies along with them. I myself was told to ride in one (after I told General Agafitei that I intended to record his men's exploits in the battle), which I did. I rode with the commanders of the army, giving me the privilege of speaking with every one of them before the battle starts. I think I will do just that.

The transports lined up behind the scorpion tanks and prepared to move out. Was told to stop writing and buckle myself in for a while, which I did. I will write later, then. For now, I would mentally prepare myself for the battle that lies ahead of us.

-Taken from the memoirs of a New Olwean chronicler who went with the Fortareatan forces

OOC: Fortareatan airships look more like B-2s than blimps. I borrowed the idea of the "flying aircraft carrier" from Ace Combat 6, which features... well... flying aircraft carriers. I assumed that the Fortareatan machines are identical with those of the said game, appearance-wise. I did make some modifications, though.

"It's forking hot out here," Lena commented, wiping sweat from her brow.
"That's easily remedied," Mezzaluna replied, taking off her uniform top. Like most Olwean women, she didn't wear underwear. A couple of the men in the unit glanced over, but most of them were pretty much immune to nudity by now.
"Wait a minute," Lena said. "We're going for psychological warfare here, right?"
"Yes," Mezzaluna said. "But I'm upset that you find my breasts that unnerving."
"No, they're fine," Lena said. "It's just... the enemy. They're really conservative, right?"
"We're assuming so based on their religious superstitions and habit of keeping slaves," Mezzaluna agreed.
"Then let's all take our tops off," Lena said, suiting action to words and quickly divesting herself of half her clothing. "Every single woman in the unit. It'll really freak them out when the second wave is ordered in and all of the women are topless."
"That's actually not a bad idea," Mezzaluna replied. "Let me issue the order." She started moving up and down the line, explaining the plan to each woman. About 6,000 female troops joined in the scheme.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Time to go in close," Edhelwe said, watching his last arrow nail a surprised Nicky soldier in the throat. He gestured with his head at an incoming group of zombies from Karn Evil Nine. "They're your primary target," he told Pasadore. "They won't get back up from artillery fire, at least not in any shape to do anything. Lyric, come with me." The female half-Elf who had been practicing her archery skills alongside Edhelwe -- another of the Grand Duke's daughters -- joined him. They both drew swords and moved to join the rest of the first wave.

The first Olwean troops to reach the barbed wire stopped abruptly in front of it, and started hacking through it with various bladed weapons, most of them enchanted in one way or another so as not to break, require sharpening, etc. While they worked, the 24 Vratix who had joined the charge leaped clear over both the barbed wire and the minefield, using their extraordinarily powerful legs to catapult themselves directly into the first trench. Several birds and bats -- the flying representatives of the Talking Beasts -- joined them, and some of the Goblins jumped out of their hot air balloons with daggers in hand. The trench was suddenly a confused mass of whirling bodies as the Nickies were engaged in close combat, preventing them from firing at the men and women who were destroying the barbed wire.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Inside the hangar, Milos responded to the query from the Bavrungians. "This is Milos Ganush, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chief Air Traffic Controller. You are cleared to land," he informed them.
"About time you got some diplomacy in," Aurora said from behind him. He turned and stuck his tongue out at her. Before she could respond, she stiffened. "Did you hear that?" she asked.
"I'd thoink you would have figured out by now that humans are always going to answer that question with 'no'," Milos said.
Aurora rolled her eyes as she turned away from him and crept stealthily toward the hangar doors. She drew a nasty-looking weapon -- two daggers joined together by a handle in the middle to make a double-bladed knife that was perfectly weighted for throwing yet could make short work of an opponent at close range -- and waited just out of view.

Jason waved his thanks to Jim, made sure the communicator was safely secured in an inner pocket of his shirt, and made his way down to the airfield from the roof, Kara following.
"Halt! Who goes there?" a rather twitchy young guard demanded as they exited the building on the ground floor and prepared to cross the runway, leveling his weapon at them.
Jason raised his hand, and suddenly he was holding the guard's gun. The guard blinked in surprise at the unexpected telekinetic defense. "You don't need to see my identification," Jason growled. "Move along."
The guard gulped and nodded, running off. Jason tossed the gun after him, hoping he recovered his wits enough to come back and retrieve it. He and Kara started across the runway toward the hangar, unaware that the sound of the gun hitting the tarmac had reached Aurora's ears.

"There's a spaceship in our capital," Captain Stevens from Intelligence informed Roland quite calmly.
"I see that," Roland said. "Any idea where it came from, or whose side it's on?"
"Nope," Stevens replied. "We could send someone if you like."
"Send Lord Devincenzi," Roland said. "We've already tapped his wife for diplomatic relations. He's just as good at that sort of thing as she is. But send some scientists -- and some armed guards -- from Area Sixty-Nine with him, just in case they're needed."
"Yes, sir," Captain Stevens replied.
A beautiful blond woman suddenly materialized in the middle of the room. "Roland. Are you the one in charge here?" she asked.
"Yes, Lady High Ambassador," he said. Lily Greenleaf was Grand Duke Jason's second oldest child, about 400 years younger than Aurora but about 1,000 years more mature. She was the Ambassador to several nations in which New Olwe had embassies, and in her spare time instructed young witches and wizards in the art of magical teleportation (she was widely acknowledged as an expert in the field).
"I'm taking over, if you don't mind," she said. "Someone from the royal family should be running things here at High Command, and if I know my father and siblings they're all off fighting somewhere."
"I willingly relinquish command to you," Roland said.
"We have a message from Noordeinde," the communications tech interjected.
"I'm the Ambassador to Noordeinde," Lily stated. "Let me see it." She read the message, then instructed the lieutenant, "Tell them they have permission to proceed, but assure them that our Diplomatic Security Corps is already supplementing their embassy's protection detail and with the additional help provided by their Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten there should be no need to close it."
The lieutenant sent out the message to Noordeinde, then said, "Now we've got one from Free Los Angeles. They're requesting an embassy, and offering to take in refugees."
"Tell them both the embassy and the refugee aid are not only accepted but much appreciated, and that we look forward to a long and glorious friendship with their nation," she said.
"Now we've got one from Vetok," the lieutenant informed her. "Their commanders are wondering how we plan to involve them in the engagement."
"Tell them to expect me aboard their flagship in a minute or two," Lily replied. Turning back to the Minister of War, she said, "Roland, you're in charge again."

(OOC: Aha! Never posted it... had it in another tab. Let's try getting it up.)
Magic-using nation here! I don't RP in MT.
I seem to have forgotten to post the part where my ambassador informs New Olwe's representative that we will help. I'll do that later, I hope. - Fortareata
Start an Embassy in New Olwe!

At sea

'Sir. Message from the New Olweans, we're to expect one of their representatives aboard shortly.'
'Send 1st Flight as escort and launch 4th as CAP,' replied Kurtzn 'and someone find me a way of contacting our men on land.'

In the Jungle

Angelus pulled himself onto his feet, looking around him at the wreckage and bodies around him. His visor flickered to life, bringing with it status reports on his men. He looked at the list before slapping his helmet twice to make sure it was actually working. 'Damn it.' he said quietly.
'What's the matter captain?', asked his sergeant and best friend Pestka.
'We've got twenty dead. Half the bloody unit gone and we're not even at the DZ yet!' shouted Angelus, before carrying on, 'We'll leave a tag here and get walking. It's about 70 miles to the front, so we might find someone willing to give us a lift'. After placing the dead in a neat pile the men set off to their destination.

IC:

Maxwell Cleland Int’l Airport, Sacramento, RFLA

“Move that crate to the left! To the left, I said! That’s your right, you jackass! Is everybody from down south as stupid as you are!?!”

It was a typically warm California day at Max Cleland International, and an unusually busy one as well, as Air Force heavy transports were standing in queue on the reserve tarmacs to receive loads of equipment, vehicles and personnel from the units selected to go to New Olwe to fight the invaders plaguing that state. The very first wave would include the 515th Parachute Infantry, a battalion of elite Los Angeles parachutists, sent to secure the landing area, and provide security for the Dortch Embassy which would accompany them as well. The planes which brought them in would stay to begin hauling refugees back home as soon as more soldiers and volunteers from the FLA Red Cross arrived in the second wave to arrange it all. In the opinion of most of the soldiers, those FLARC volunteers had nerves of steel. Most of them would not be wearing even the most basic protection, and none would be armed, as per Red Cross regulations. They would leave their own lives in the hands of the soldiers and of Divine Providence.

Sergeant Major Idane Masami, the ranking NCO of the 515th, strolled casually to the sergeant directing the forklift drivers in loading of extra cargo containers to a parked C-130 Hercules, removing her soft cap to rake a hand through her purple hair as she did so, and then replacing the cap. Like most of the 515th, SM Idane was a Shirow, the name given to a person from the “anime” planes of existence, chosen because they bore a striking resemblance to the works of Masamune Shirow in regards to physical appearances. They are also called “Greasers,” a derogatory reference to the naturally “oiled up” look they had in natural lighting. Fortunately most of them dressed modestly enough that their natural born looks wouldn’t be much of a problem in most nations, and the ones New Olwe would see would almost all be in combat uniform anyway.

“Is there a problem here, Sergeant Ichikawa?” she asked, prompting a startled yelp from Sergeant Ichikawa Chiyeko, the woman who had been shouting a moment ago.

“Ah, no, Sergeant Major!” she said with a blush. Idane was a tall woman even by Shirow standards, and the diminutive Ichikawa had a perfect line of sight to her chest. Ichikawa’s “alternate” lifestyle choices were an open secret.

“I was just trying to get these dock apes to load properly,” she continued. “They seem to have issues with my directions.”

“I see,” Idane said with a polite, understanding nod. “Well, try not to be too short with them, Sergeant, but do get it sorted out. The Boss wants the first planes airborne by nightfall.”

“Will do, Sar’Major!” Ichikawa said, and turned her attention back to the forklift as Idane walked on to where she had been headed before. There, standing next to an armored HMMWV, was Lieutenant-Colonel Teletha Tessa Testarossa, or, as her troops liked to call her, Trip. The slightly built, platinum haired woman was conversing with A Company’s commander, Captain Kaname Chidori, a tall, athletic (even by Airborne limits) blue-haired woman who had just returned to Airborne unit service following a stint on the Army Team for the Armed Forces Olympics. With them as well was Alpha Company’s lead NCO, Sergeant Major Melissa Mao. Mao was a hard drinking, chain smoking, foul mouthed woman, who had been in the same recruit platoon as Idane years before, and they were still good friends.

“Good morning, Colonel!” Idane said, coming to sharp attention and saluting Testarossa. Returning the salute with a nod, the Colonel smiled at her BSM.

“Well now, Sar’Major,” she said brightly in her soft, too-cute voice. “We seem to be progressing nicely.”

“Yes we do, Colonel,” Idane said. “At this rate we should have most of the battalion touching down in New Olwe with the sun’s rising. Most of the FLARC workers and the Embassy should follow shortly.”

“Excellent,” Testarossa replied with a smile. “If everything goes like this, we should have a fairly peaceful run.”

Idane smiled at that, but just barely. They were going in to a warzone. There would be blood, and there would be bodies. She knew Testarossa was nobody’s fool, but she could be a bit too optimistic at times.

Hours later, the first Hercules left the airport.

Task Force 100

Rear Admiral Marie-Elisabeth Bonnin had been placed in command of Task Force 100, centered around the Gerald R. Ford class RNS Maxwell C. Cleland. With her were the Ticonderoga class cruisers Altadena and Baldwin Park, her guardian missile-throwing angels for this mission. With her as well in the fire support role were the behemoth Iowa class battleships Del Norte and El Dorado. Four destroyers, four frigates, two Virginia submarines and a pair of tenders finished the pack.

Bonnin was closing in on New Olwe quickly, and right now her only mission was to ensure the safe arrival of the aid mission.

Shades of Grey

Postby The Ambrose Islands » Sat Nov 14, 2009 6:50 pm

"Ocean, I need you to get ahold of the Ambrosian Home Ministry now!" requested Alex in a panicked voice, "Get Camilla. Tell her that Alloran Jahar is not dead. He's back, and he's in New Olwe. Also, I need you to make contact with Captain Kara Altere for me. She should be landing at Reiff Airbase. Tell her to be on guard and not, I repeat, NOT send another Ambrosian plane into the air. I have to mobilize my security." As she started to leave, She turned to the Olwean, "Ocean, be careful. Alloran is a dangerous man. He survived death once. There's more to him than meets the eye."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alloran stood watching the "festivities" from the Embassy roof with look of disappointment on his face. He didn't forsee the Allied response as being this large or this organized. "This is cutting into my plans," he said in a voice that could only be heard by himself, "But, when life gives you lemons..."

He stretched out his arms and muttered something in a language long since forgotten to all those but the winds. The clouds above the battle swirled as lightning struck the Nicksylvanian encampment around the dining hall. The lightning was neither hot nor damaging, nor did it strike any soldiers. It did, however strike the tables, garbage, ground, an anywhere else containing the bones of the Nickies' last great feast. As the bones coalesced together into their former selves, he formed a primal consciousness inside the cavity they used to call a mind, and gave them a single order, burying it to where it became their only train of thought.

<Kill!>

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the skies above the battle, Marenne was now swerving to avoid common gunfire. The flak cannons forced her to strafe low, a height she did not what to be at, and though she had personally destroyed at least two, there were many more, and they were presenting a serious problem to the Dragon Riders. Her dragon dodged again, barely. The next volley would hit. Blue Dragons were cruisers, not interceptors, and all of this quick turning was wearing her dragon out.

She turned towards another flak gun and was preparing to strike when, seemingly out of nowhere, a lightning bolt came crashing down in front of her. It wasn't hot or damaging, but it was bright enough to temporarily blind her and, more importantly, her dragon. Marenne felt a sharp drop in altitude, and a sudden ejection from her seat that told her that her dragon had hit the ground. The air was knocked out of her lungs as she landed hard on the dirt. As she (painfully) got up she felt her sight slowly coming back to her. Her dragon was down (most likely dead) and there were Nicky soldiers running towards her. No, they weren't running at her. They weren't even paying attention to her. It almost looked like they were running away from something. Marenne had full use of her sight when she saw what it was.

She saw the sharp teeth set in a vicious maw, but she had to imagine the yellow eyes set in now hollow sockets and the stony grey skin that was virtually nonexistent. She stared in horror, too tired or scared to run, as the creature formally known as the Grey Dragon advanced.
