OOC: Annopol and Tuaador will post later on... I'm honestly not sure when.

After his final move against Grazikia, Lysvand received letters from several different leaders. He smirked and flung them back onto his desk as he exhaled another cloud of smoke from his cigarette. He had no intentions of using nuclear weapons whatsoever. He was aware of the outcome, as his subordinates and scientists had warned him against it. Surely if he used any of his current arsenal, others would be forced to do so as well, plunging Aysling into a catastrophe not heard of before. All he wanted was for Grazikia to become part of the Empire so as to secure the land around Kahliste. Only then would he feel safe.

His first attempt to absorb Grazikia was responded to by hostility, so he resorted to brute force. An invasion of Grazikia, backed by Stassovic forces pouring in from the North. The Prime Minister was already in Gorva. Bladivosk was finally captured in a day and a half. Lysvand was later surprised to hear that Diliathian soldiers were found in Vladograd, and felt rather outraged by this unnecessary intervention. Despite that, he made no move against it and had the Diliathian troops shipped back to their homeland. Not all returned however, as there were those who were killed in battle.

To the Diliathian Leadership,

Your troops have been returned to you, on merchant craft captured in Grazikia's ports. Your actions of nosing into the Empire's business is not appreciated. Any more troops sent to Grazikia will be faced with the Imperial Guard of the Empire of Kahliste. Aside from this, Emperor Lysvand has made no more responses.

Office of the Emperor, Hudiksvall, Emperiat Kahlistet

A letter was sent to Diliath concerning the forces they sent into Vladograd. They were heavily outnumbered by the Stassovic and Kahlistean troops assembled within the city, which had already been captured days before. As the letter said, the elite Imperial Guard was preparing a line of defenses along the borders of Vladograd to the South and to the East. Any hostile ship or aircraft was to be destroyed on sight.

Trade between Stassov, Annopol, Tuaador, and Kahliste continued as rapidly as possible to keep the forces in Grazikia running. No further military movement near Diliath is recorded. They are on guard, but show no signs of aggression towards Diliath. They have no orders but to keep an eye out if in case someone tries to deter the expansion plan. To further protect Kahliste's interests, the new MBT of the Imperial Army was finally fielded, though production was slowed and limited to 3 in a week for every factory due to the embargo against Kahliste. The Empire began to rely heavily on its closer, loyal allies.

Image

The Strv-215 MBT, nicknamed 'Vildkatt', was built to replace the Jakt Räv MBT from previous wars. It is considered the most advanced main battle tank in all of Aysling to date, and the most powerful to serve in the Imperial Army. These 215s are in Fort Lillehammer in Southern Caronise along with 50 others, protecting the border with Diliath.

The construction of nuclear weapons has come to a halt because of the embargo as well, and because there is no more need for them. Lysvand now owns 20 warheads. Tuaador has 5, Annopol has 5, and Stassov is creating its own. But as he has assured his Assembly, the Emperor does not intend to use these weapons for attack, but only for defense, when needed.

Stassovic tanks in the city of Bladivosk after the capture. Grazikian authorities were later relieved to know that the F.U had honored its word not to harm any civilians.

Later, the Grazikian Prime Minister in Gorva calls for a temporary truce. He agrees to be brought to Hudiksvall where he will be able to speak with the leaders of the F.U. This is concerning the invasion and the apparent expansion plan of the Kahlistean Empire... Hopefully things will not turn ugly during the meeting...
The views of this nation (Kahliste) do not reflect my own. But when it does, then it's none of your business.

UN
The Grand Republic of Pefki's President responded to the speech of the Dekartan delegate positively.

"I too think that an international reaction could help halt and even destroy the rogue state that the Fang Union has become. A full economic embargo, seizure of all their assets in our nations and deportation of their citizens, coupled with cutting diplomatic ties could destroy their economy both right now in the stock market and in the long run since they will have no access to our resources and their economy will shrink drastically without imports or exports. I also agree with the proposal to deploy a peacekeeping force on the Diliath-FU border. Pefki is more than ready to send at least 70,000 troops, 70 ships and 700 planes for such a task and we can help with the force's supplies and accomodations since we're nearby though I'm sure our friends from Diliath would be more than happy to help with such tasks. Only with these measures will the much weakened FU be forced to negotiate and accept our terms to restore world safety and world peace."

Kahlistean Capital City

President Hughes got on a plane and flew to the Kahlistean capital city of Hudiksvall to talk about the alliance with Grazikia. Their Prime Minister came from another city after he learned that his capital was already captured by Stassov and Kahliste. He didn't want any more damage to happen to his nation, so he decided to sue for peace, kinda like France. Only his situation was different.

The Kahlistean President wanted Grazikia to be part of his country, but of course, Grazikia would be no more. The Prime Minister would not agree. He wanted for Grazikia to have control over its government, and did not want for someone else to make decisions for them. He called the Kahlistean President a jerk. President Hughes giggled in the office, but he was careful not to be noticed. The Stassovic and Annopol leaders were also in the room and began talking over what was to be done. Meanwhile, the Grazikian Prime Minister sat in his seat, looking all worried and stuff.
Then, President Hughes decided that all this had to stop. War was bad, and he didn't want war because his country had been through it, and it was no fun, especially if you were the victim. Once the other leaders were done talking, President Hughes spoke up.

"I'd like to make a suggestion..." he started off. The other leaders turned to him, and he felt on the spot. This was his first real meeting with other leaders, and they all looked like men who had gone through war. Big, burly, and they all looked sorta pissed and stuff.

"What if, the Grazikians could still keep their territory, but in return they had to be an ally with us?" he finally asked, and the other leaders looked at one another. President Hughes felt relieved to finally have been able to say what he wanted to say. As he did that, the other leaders turned to the Grazikian Prime Minister who nodded. He seemed to be fine with it.

"That sounds good. As Prime Minister, I'd like for my country to have freedom. But we will be your friends. You can trust that we won't do anything against your country." the Prime Minister said. The other leaders looked at one another again.

(Your turn, Kahliste.)

The Landser Ambassador to Brutii, Siegfried Junge, sat facing the Sultan. He made sure to soak up everything the other man said, so that he could make a detailed report to Kongress. The Chancellery had convened and appointed him with the authority to strike a bargain with Brutii. The Sultan had just offered his terms regarding the ceding of Makria back to them, and then he asked if Junge had any negotiating power, so Junge replied that he did. The man new that several of the Landser would be furious if they actually did give up the majority of Makria, and he was not about to commit political suicide. The mention of this so called Project Exodus had him intrigued, but not enough to sell the deal, not just yet. Junge had been chosen because of his hardline approach to diplomatic and his stubbornness. The Ambassador thought for a moment as if considering, but that was the first thing they taught you in trading lessons, never accept the first offer without attempting to do better.

Junge quit rubbing his chin and leaned forward in his chair. "I appreciate your generous offer, Sultan, however I feel that the Landser people would not be satisfied with the base offer you have presented. Seeing that I have been sent here to represent them, it is my duty to try and reach more agreeable terms. I propose this counter offer; Brutii gives Reichsland a 15 percent discount on oil, 2 billion shekels a year, and inclusion on project Exodus. To sweeten your end of the bargain, Reichsland will allow you free passage into our waterways, averting your nation's companies to avoid paying port charges and the like. This would greatly benefit your economy, i think. All of this will end in the year 1975, as your previously stated. The Sultan did not like the new agreement that well, however what choice did he have aside from declaring war. If he wanted Goralon pure again, then he would have to capitulate to almost whatever Reichsland said, if not then they risked war with one of the most powerful nations in the world, which is exactly what they did not need. The Sultan finally agreed to the terms. The two men shook hands and went about their business. The terms would be formally drawn up and signed. Siegfried had done his job for now and he made his way back to the Embassy to send word back home.

When the Landser people found out about the agreement, their initial reaction was that of anger. They felt like Reichsland had become a pushover, and of course this was the President's and Kongress's fault. There was even a brief resurgence of pro-zahler party rhetoric, which the government dealt with swiftly and coldly. Several elected officials saw their approval ratings drop, however that would quickly change. The discounted oil from Brutii began to arrive, driving fuel prices down even further. This made people happy and helped take their minds off of the issue. The lower prices also meant that goods could be produced and transported cheaper than ever, which meant lower prices at market. Automobile companies also saw this as a time of great growth. They knew that the people had more money to burn now and the big three automobile makers of Reichsland, Zeitwagen, Hoffmann-Rausch, and Edelbauer, launched themselves headlong into a campaign to outdo each other in terms of automobiles, they built them with increasingly more power and speed. They intended to make full use of Reichsland's massive highway system and with super cheap gasoline, who cared? The Landser economy was about explode into a huge period of growth, thanks to the cheap access to the lifeblood of the capitalist industrial nation, oil.

In regards to the developing situation in Khaliste and the F.U., the President has ordered units of the Sovide Sea Naval Fleet to rendezvous with the other naval units of the alliance force. The Sovide Sea Naval Command Fleet (SoSeNCom) is sending five destroyers, one aircraft carrier, three missile boats, two submarines, and three supply tenders to the designated area. Once they arrive they will hold their position until either they receive further orders, or if the alliance forces are attacked. They will then be launching airstrikes against F.U. land targets, while the subs will go out on the hunt. The President, along with several diplomats and cabinet members, have all reiterated that this move is strictly a precautionary measure and not intended to be seen as a form of provocation. They all still urge for diplomatic measures to be used to achieve peace, and that the naval movements are part of a sign of solidarity with the other nations of the UNA.

November 12th, 1959

On a rare diplomatic visit out of country, Muhammad travels to Weisiger to meet with the outgoing President Brendenberg. The Sultan indulges in drinks with the President and they stay several hours in the Presidents Private study.

Now I am certain that you want to know about Project Exodus. Muhammad pours another drink for Brendenberg. It is quite simply the project that will forever place Brutii an Reichland in the history books. If Project Exodus is a success, no matter what happens to us in the future, we will never be forgotten. Muhammad sips at his glass. We my friend, are going to the moon.

Even with the number of drinks the Landser had drank, he was still a sharp man. What do you mean Sultan, the moon is out of reach, ever for the Reichlandic Space Program.

Muhammad opens his suitcase and pulls a folder marked TOP SECRET. He hands the papers over to Brendenberg who begins to read through them. Impossible? Perhaps 5 years ago it was, but not now. I will put a man on the moon in the next 10 years. I want Reichland to come with us. We will make history Muhammad leans back in his chair. When you leave office you should brief your successor, I don't plan our coming back. Certain things are getting dangerous and leaving the security of Brutii puts my self at risk. And once we launch I would very much like you to be there, to see our moment of glory

Latonar

After the diliathian team in Latonar had talked with many of the citizens of Kov have they discovered recently created mass graves in many places on Kov. Thebodies are clearly citizens. With both Avinaa and Latonar denying their involvement in this violation of international law and pro-latonarian and pro-Avinaan citizens accusing the other side of commiting the crime has the research team to investigate the wounds to look for traces of weapons that were only one side. This means that the investigation will take time. In the meanwhile will other teams search for other mass graves.

UN

The representor of Diliath in the UN has declared that peace-keeping forces are very welcome in Diliath. Diliath will give them all supplies and accomodation they'll need. Diliath is too willing to take up any refugees from Grazikia. Diliath contributes also 10000 soldiers to the peace keeping army of the UN. In order to push back the fang union has he too opened an embargo and sanctions on Stassov and Annopol.

Diliath

Diliath has opened embassies in the nations of Karressa, Geroia and Palatine. Delegations have talked
to the governments of these nations about profitable trade treaties and an alliance. As the trade treaties were immidiately accepted was there much doubt about an alliance. Palatine, however, has decided to create a defensive alliance with Diliath. Geroia on the other side has declined the offer of an alliance and the talks with Karressa still continue. The emperor also bought some estates on the coast of Palatine.

Hudiksvall, Imperial Kahliste

For some reason, out of nowhere, President Bobby Hughes of Tuaador made a suggestion whilst Lysvand and the leaders of Annopol and Stassov were conversing. The Grazikian Prime Minister agreed to what Hughes said, and so did the Prime Minister of Annopol, who was a General from a previous war. Lysvand had no reason to disagree with what President Hughes had said. Grazikia would be perfectly free, but it would be an ally to Kahliste and the rest of the Fang Union as well. The meeting was adjourned after Tsar Galiyeva of Stassov finally agreed. He seemed hesitant, but was convinced by President Hughes, who appeared to be the most reasonable of the F.U leaders.

Lysvand returned to his office and sat in his chair when he received a call. President Hughes and Major General Esaias Ahtisaari had gone to the South on their own planes, and reported that their forces were prepared to fight. A reconnaissance aircraft from Kahliste had raked the Sovide Sea and has sighted naval forces. The Empire has begun to assume that the UN is preparing to attack. So, about a day after Grazikia was restored, Lysvand asked the Grazikian Prime Minister to mobilize. But he wouldn't he decided to play as a neutral force, only supplying Kahliste with what it needed, but it would not fight.

Not looking to start a war anytime soon, Lysvand asked Tuaador to report to the UNA of what was happening, as neither he, nor the leaders of Annopol or Stassov would contact the UNA.

January 2nd, 1960

Sultan Muhammad sits at the head of a conference table, Minister of the Interior Talih Zewar and General Shavi sit farther down the table. The tension in the room is electrifying. Minutes pass in silence before the door opens and Rashid Mustafa rushes in.

I apologize for my lateness your highness, but I required a few minutes to collect the necessary files. Rashid places the folder in front of Muhammad and takes a seat. We have a few problems, from what we have been told from our agent, we were able to discover the location of three enemies of the state.

Rashid stands and passes pictures to the other two gentlemen in the room. We have discovered the location of three survivors of our campaign in Korfu. General Yasir Gazi, Major Saan Fulani and a man named Armasky Driso, who seems to be the remains of the Tarishi Government.

We have discovered that they are under the protection of the Corellian government, more specifically the Corellian Security Agency. Rashid returns to his seat and turns towards the sultan. Corellia must know of what happened in Korfu, yet they keep it silent. They keep their cards close to their chest, I fear what they plan.

Muhammad reads the document in front of him, and the room falls into silence for several minutes until he puts the folder down and turns to Rashid. They can not be allowed to live. Send you best agents, they will infiltrate the CSA's headquarters and destroy any documents that pertain to these men, and then they will be killed. No doubt Corellia will suspect us but without proof they can do nothing.

Rashid smiles and opens the door to the room. A young man enters, dressed smartly, yet giving an aura of cruelty. This is Agent Hades, he has yet to fail us. Rashid puts his hand on Hades's shoulder. The Sultan approves, kill them all. Hades nods and leaves the room.

By tomorrow night, all evidence of our wrongdoings will be gone.

Nortel Corellia
january 5th 1960

Saan sits on the couch a drink in hand as Yasir and Agent Fallow play a game of cards. After each defeat he suffers Yasir gets angrier and angrier and Saan can't help but laugh. Over the last six years agent Fallow had gone from being an unfortunate necessity to protect the three refugees to becoming a welcome part of their group. He wishes he could say the same for the other two agents in their protection detail, but Agents Gari and Magel would old school, by the book. In Saan's mind they were assholes.

He glances over at Armasky, who over the last year had sobered up at the request of his girlfriend. It was good for him, to move past what had happened and make a life here. He lies curled up on out lazy boy with a blanket around him. Saan gets up to the fridge to grab a beer when he here urgent knocking. Agent Fallow jumps up and pulls his pistol out.

Stay down all of you. He rushes towards the door as Yasir and I grabs Armasky. Saan hears the door open and hushed words from the other room. As Yasir and Saan help the still groggy Armasky into the secured room Agent Fallow returns, followed by Agents Gari and Magel.

We need to go now, someone just broke into the CSA headquarters and destroyed all records of you. We believe that you are in danger. Agent Gari pulls his pistol out as Mari peeks out the window.

I am done running, we will fight. Yasir pulls two pistol he had stashed and tosses one to Saan. The Agents shake their heads.

Not today Yasir. Mari turns back to us, his eyes wide. He's here. A burst of gunfire cuts off the rest of his words as bullets tear into him. He collapses to the ground ground clutching his throat. Fallow grabs Yasir and Saan and runs to the safe room. Gari's jaw drops at the sight of his fellow agents death and aims out the door. He fires several shots before another burst of gunfire rips across his chest.

The three Tarishi sit in the safe room, a metal table flipped over with Yasir and Saan aiming at the door. Fallow screams into his radio Man Down Man Down, two agents shot, presumed dead. Agent Fallow needs assistance. A man appears in the door way and rolls out of sight as Saan, Yasir, and Fallow open fire. The man peeks out and unloads another clip in our direction, most of the bullets landing harmlessly in the steel table, however one connects with Fallows shoulder.

Ah Fuck Fallow tosses his pistol to Armasky who shoots several times at the wall where the assassin is taking cover. As the man peeks out again Yasir fires and hits the man in the knee. Despite the pain he must be in the assassin stays silent. As sirens begin to approach the man tosses a smoke grenade and flees from the building. We hear a car start up and drive quickly away. Moments later our reinforcements arrive to find two dead agents, a wounded Agent Fallow and three Tarishi who may be more trouble than they are worth.

President Bredenberg was thrilled at the idea of Project Exodus. He knew that Reichsland could not afford to be left behind in the space race, and so he wholeheartedly agreed to the plan. He would see to it that his successor, Karl Rost, managed to funnel more funding to ARDN and see to it that Project Exodus was a success. If this event was successful, it would cement Reichsland's and Brutii's place in the annals of mankind forever. They would be the ones who opened up the final frontier to humanity, and he loved the thought. While the thought of being President any longer wearied him, even as a passing thought, he still could not help but have a little jealousy of Rost for being able to claim the spotlight when that day came.

Fast forward to January 1960...

It has been two days since President Rost was sworn in, and he was still trying to get accustomed to his knew lodgings and environment. Isidor Bredneberg had insisted on a meeting today, and Rost was all to happy to oblige him, because of two reasons...One, he had a lot of questions to ask the former President, and two, he was a great admirer of Bredenberg and felt honored to be in his company. FInally the predetermined time rolled around and Bredenberg showed up right on time. He was a very punctual man, regardless of where or what he was doing, and today was no exception to the rule. After exchanging greetings and a lot of small talk over a very delicious meal. the conversation turned much more serious. Bredenberg proceeded to tell Rost about project Exodus, and that he would be the one to send Reichsland to the moon and back. The former president pleaded his case about how Rost had to do everything he could to ensure that the project was fully supported by the Landser. They could not afford to miss out on a project of such magnitude, and Rost readily agreed. The new President assured Bredenberg that he would vigorously and tenaciously pursue the project to its completion. After the meeting adjourned, Rost lost no time in contacting the director of ARDN. He told the man to keep silent to the public about what he was about to here, but he had better be preparing his staff because they were about to take the Landser people to the moon.

The Reichsmarine. as the navy is now known, has also implemented new reforms. Naval high command has ordered the remaining active duty battleships within the navy be fully decommissioned by 1965. The battleship doctrine has become outdated with the advent of guided missiles, and now was the time to let them go from service. There were five battleships that were still part active fleets, and they would now suffer one of two fates. They would be put up for sale on the international market, and if no buyer was found, they would be dismantled and melted down. The money and steel produced by these vessels would go into funding and producing newer vessels such as the Dornau Class Guided Missile Ship.
Image

This was the most advanced guided missile ship Reichsland possessed. It would replace the older Rebholz Class Missile Ships, which would also either be sold or recycled. Another new reform the navy implemented was the development of a new aircraft carrier, the larger and faster Leupold Class Carrier.
Image
These new carriers could transport more aircraft, supplies, and personnel than any other ship in Reichsland's Blue Water Navy. The Landser realized that a nation had to have the capability to project as much force as possible, as quickly as possible anywhere in the world. Either a nation got on board with this philosophy and was successful at defending its interests or didn't and was destroyed. The Landser military is ever evolving to fit the demands of a nuclear world, and they stand ever ready to defend their beloved nation. The Reichswehr as the army is also known, has also unveiled its newest tank. Known as the King Jaguar, it is the most advanced and powerful tank that Reichsland has ever produced, courtesy of Bohr Weapons Works. An initial order of 75 of these tanks will go into effect on March 1st, with full production expected by beginning of April.

Razra, Brutii
Sultans Palaca

February 9th. 1960

Sultan Muhammad sits on a plush extravagant couch in his office, across from him sits his oldest son Yazid, quiet and slight at the age of 13. Yazid stares intently at the chess board that lies between the monarch and his son. Several moments pass and Muhammad moves his kings rook and takes the Bishop of his son. Surprised at the capture Yazid scowls.

You must think ahead my little prince, every, every single action you take will have a reaction, and it will not always be a good one. You must be careful not to take unnecessary risk. Muhammad picks up the bishop he had captured. Was it worth losing a bishop to take a pawn? I do not think so.

The young boy furrows his brow. I did not realize that your rook was there father, I moved without thought. Yazid scans the board and moves his queens knight out of danger and into a safe position. Muhammad smiles at his son and moves his queen, taking a pawn and placing Yazid's king in check.

However, caution is often a dangerous game, you must also know when to stand your ground and be prepared to sacrifice what you must in order to win. Had you kept your knight their you could have taken three of my pieces and forced me into a defensive position, and no player wants to play on the defense. Muhammad claps his son on the shoulder. The young prince smiles at his father.

Thank you for the wisdom father.

A women enters the office and knocks on the wall interrupting the game between father and son. Your Majesty, Minister Gharib is here, he says he has urgent news for you.

Muhammad's face darkens and he turns to Yazid Find Mehmed and Omar, go play with them, remember my lessons. Yazid rises and bows slightly to his father, he carries his chessboard and hurries from the room. Bring in Gharib, close the door behind him. The secretary bows and exits. Moments later Minister of Defense Gharib enters the room.

Muhammad points to the seat Yazid had just vacated. What is so urgent you needed to interrupt me and my son. Gharib takes his seat and hands a folder to Muhammad.

I just came from a meeting with Rashid, we just suffered an attack in Karresa, Jewish militants bombed our embassy in Lesium, 33 people are dead, all embassy staff, and 38 are wounded, most of which are bystanders. One of the wounded was a militant who is now in our custody, we have told that he was killed in the blast so the Karresians do not come looking for him. Gharib says.

Why lie Minister, Karresa is our ally are they not. The Sultan looks through the folder and pausing on a note. He looks up in shock at Gharib.

From what the militant has told us so far, it seems that someone high up in the Karresian government was complicit in the attack. However we don't know who yet.

Muhammad rises from his seat and walks to the window, he stands in shocked silence for several moments..

If this is true Minister, than we are walking a dangerous line. This was an act of war against Brutii, a violation against human rights. Muhammad turns back towards Gharib. Tell Rashid I want daily reports, he is to find proof of our suspicions, we will put out word that his was a random act of terror, and that we are investigating. As he sits Gharib sees the cold eyes that are so well hidden from the public. Tell the Joint Chiefs to mobilize 100,000 men for "Terror Watch"

I advise we keep this from the Karresan government until we know who is implicated. Gharib says. Muhammad nods. What do we do once we know?

The will resign, and be handed over to us for justice, and if they don't I will order our army into Karresa, with the support of our fellow nations of Goralon, and Karresa will know the pain of watching its people die. Muhammad dismisses the Minister, who is secretly glad to be free of the sultan.

... The tragedy we suffered though today is unimaginable and my heart goes out to the families of those who were lost today in this senseless acts of terror. 33 people, no 33 heroes were taken from us today, and they will never be forgotten. My children do not fear those that are so cowardly that they hide in the shadows and do not dare fight armed men. Those that participated will be brought to justice, and they will learn that no matter how far they run, we will chase them from sea to see, from mountains to valleys, from whatever hole they hide in, and we will make them pay for what they did. Stand united my children of Brutii, for we shall prevail.

RESENT EVENTS IN AVINAA-

ELECTIONS In November Presidential elections Speaker of the House John Jacob claimed victory with 56% of the popular vote, his closes rival, Liberal Party nominee Francis Hans secured 36% of the vote. Incumbent Dick Charles, a political independent received just 8% of the vote. This was the first election since the Valentina referendum, and since Kov was retaken. Jacob's party, the Democrats also won super-majorities in both houses of Congress. This president enjoys broad popular support, but most of his votes came from the wealthy southern states, with the Liberals enjoying strong support from the working class, northern states, and unions. Dick Charles got most of his votes from Kov.

ECONOMY The Economy continues to show signs of improvement, but it was not fast enough for the majority of Avinaains. President Jacob has announced he will try to form a free trade deal with Ionia, Reichland, and Brutii. Former President Charles wasn't able to get the deal approved by Congress because of opposition from Senate Liberals(who controlled just enough seats for a filibuster).

MILITARY The new government has also announced at new program to expand military funding and reform the armed forces.

February 5th, 1960

President Rost sat and rubbed his chin as he listened to members of both his cabinet and the military speak about the importance, as well as the negativities of what they were planning. It was a necessary precaution he thought, and so did several others. With the ever amplifying infighting on Goralon, along with the piecemeal dispersal of Austerlitz's southern lands, Reichsland's terrestrial holdings were shrinking every year. They were not sure that if a war did break out in Goralon, be it between other nations or because Brutii inherited a not so friendly leader, then Reichsland's remaining colony would not be dragged into it either. The joint chiefs of the military had convened and decided that the only way to discourage such and attack would be to increase the Landser's power concentration on what land they still controlled. They had decided upon a proposal that they would present to the President, and that very proposal is what they were discussing at this very moment.

The President knew how the world felt about nuclear weapons, but they were still the greatest deterrent to war that a nation could possess. He knew that the other nations of the world would surely have a strong reaction to this plan if they were to go ahead with it also. Still, the President did not see this as an act of aggression, but merely a tool that would help promote peace on the continent of Goralon. Finally after much discussion and negotiating, the majority of those in the room came to favor the idea. The President still had worries deep down that the world would not approve, but he forged ahead anyway and OK'd the proposal. The Joint Chiefs of the Military wasted no time in delegating the project to expert planners of all branches, and implementation began immediately. The first phase of the plan was to begin upgrading and expanding the military base outside of the capital of Austerlitz, which is known as Wesselsburg. They would turn this base into a indubitable fortress, and it would also serve as the new home base of Galvan's Raiders, the storied group of naval assault soldiers that had been in service for over a thousand years. Once Phase One was complete, the dead giveaway would be made obvious to anyone with reconnaissance capabilities. They would begin constructing missile silos within the fortress base, and once those were completed they would be receiving their new occupants, nuclear missiles. It was simple when you put it that way, Reichsland would be moving nuclear missiles to the continent of Goralon. However, its potential consequences were far from simple. Such an action could be perceived as an act of aggression by other world leaders, and if so, it could plunge them into war again. The President made sure that anyone who breathed a word to public about this before he did would be tried for treason and hanged.

March 21st, 1960

The construction at Wesselsburg Military Base is in full swing, and progress is being made daily. Two new barracks blocks are being constructed also, and once they are complete 4,100 fresh soldiers will be transferred to the base. Once there, they will be helping with construction as well. The fortress will be a wondrous sight once it is finished, and there are rumors floating around the place that the military will even put a military prison there as well.

President Rost sat on his bed in silence, listening as the radio played its mournful tunes. His mind was a swirling morass of restless thoughts and tiresome what-ifs. He had not realized that being the President would place such a burden on his shoulders, don't get him wrong, he knew it would not be easy but this was more than he had bargained for. He knew however that if he could prevail through these times and navigate Reichsland along a prosperous course then he would be remembered as a hero. Many people thought that they would love to be President, be able to have everything at your fingertips. They were wrong, for the proverbial Sword of Damocles was ever present, waiting for just the right moment until it plunged down on its hapless victim, destroying him without any premonition or warning.

He stood up and stretched his arms, yawning once, much like a bear coming out hibernation would. He glanced toward the balcony of his bedroom, and seeing that he could not sleep tonight, he made his way out into the cool February breeze. It was unusually warm for this time of year, however the abnormality was more than welcome by most, including Rost. He looked down out across the palace grounds, where he could partially make out the faint shadows of a few of the security personnel as they made their rounds. HIs eyes continued their upward journey and his vision moved out to across the city, surveying the lights as they danced and sparkled, distorted by the clear waves of rising heat emitted by the life and machines that inhabited it. Rost stood studying the illustrious sight for several minutes when a bright flash of fire and light erupted at the main gate, this was followed almost immediately by a loud *BOOM* that echoed out across the grounds of the palace. The President watched on in shock as the smoke cleared and several men rushed through the new opening. The first security personnel to meet the intruders shouted terse orders for them to halt, however their only reply was that of automatic small arms fire. As the security teams realized they were under attack, they immediately switched into threat elimination mode. They met the intruders in force and opened up with their own volley of lead, sending the white hot lead projectiles into their fleshy targets. The group of intruders were quickly killed, but at the cost of 4 security personnel. Meanwhile, other security forces had made their way to the President and led him to his private safe room. Once the all clear sounded, it was time to start piecing together the puzzle.

There was a total of 11 men that had stormed the Presidential Palace, and they had made it more than obvious as to what their statement was. They were all wearing uniforms belonging to the Zahler Party. A manifesto was found on the supposed leader, who was dressed in a Zahler political officer's uniform. The tiresome diatribe espoused the generic beliefs of political radicals. They were in love with the evil Zahler party, and claimed that it would rise again because it was the true form of government for the nation of Reichsland. It continued on an on, nauseating President Rost the more he read. He could not imagine that there were still people out there who still called for mass genocide. Not under his watch, he thought to himself, and right there he decided to hunt down every last member of the remnant of this evil institution.

The bodies of the slain security personnel were laid to rest with a proper military burial, and at the memorial for the men, Rost seized the moment to declare his renewed war on hate mongers and xenophobia. The hate groups within Reichsland would not be able to rest because they would always be under the gun, for Reichsland would no longer tolerate it. The second crackdown on radical hate groups has begun...

UN Security Council Room
May 12th, 1960

The delegates of the various nations of the United Nations whisper to each other, very rarely had an emergency meeting been called, and the suddenness of this particular meeting, with no apparent cause had the delegates confused. A single chair sits empty, where the Brutiian Delegate, Al-Afghani should sit. As the minutes tick by the room's noise increases as well. Suddenly the door slams open, silencing the delegates at once. Striding into the room is Asar Al-Afghani, a letter gripped tightly in his hand as he takes the podium. He takes several deep breathes, his usually composed manner gone.

Members of the Security Council, I come before you are as a formality at best, at the request of my Sultan. Never before have I been so disgusted, so furious. Asar slams his fist on the podium. As you may know, on the 9th of February the Brutiian embassy in Karresa was attacked my militants, 8 militants in total. Murmuring overtakes the crowd as they were only aware of 7 militants. Many of you are surprised to learn of 8 militants. As the Brutiian government had released news that their were only seven. I was informed that that was no mistake, that the lie was willingly spread as to disguise an investigation.

Asar moves from behind the podium and towards the assembled delegates. He holds up the letter he had been holding. This letter bears the seal of the Sultan. Asar breaks the seal and pulls a paper out. He unfolds it and reads. We hid the existence of the 8th militant for a reason, because we had doubts about the truth behind these attacks. The captured militant, a man by the name of Aharon Benowitz, confessed under interrogation that his group was operating under the command of several prominent figures inside the Karresian government. The room falls silent under this accusation. Obviously we would not take the word of a terrorist, so we launched a secret investigation, infiltrating jewish extremist groups, bribing, interrogating, and the like. In the last 93 days we have uncovered a terrifying list of accomplices. Asar snaps his fingers and 3 men enter the room carrying boxes. They put the cases in the center of the room and return to get more.

These are the documents of the investigation, their are 36 boxes. Asar meets the eyes of the delegates who stare in horror as the vast amount of proof implicating the Karresian government in such a vile terrorist attack.

In total we have definitive proof implication 57 members of the Karresian government. Including the President, Vice President, the whole of the Chiefs of Staff, 7 Cabinet Secretaries, among others. This is definitive proof that this was no act of a crazed member of government as we had initially believed, but a calculated attack on the Brutiian people by the Karresian government. I have requested that Brutii's representative to the Security Council, the esteemed Asar Al-Afghani, come before you today to deliver our ultimatum.

Asar pulls a second letter from his suit jacket, this one bearing the seal of the Goralon Union.

By the Order and Authority of the Combined Nations of the Goralon Union*
We Issue and Ultimatum to the Government of Karresa.
Unless all terms are meet within 48 hours their will be war between the Goralon Union and Karresa.
1) All members of Government implicated will surrender themselves to Brutii where they will be tried under penalty of death, by the United Nations Court for International Punishment
2) For a period of five years, the Goralon Union will assume all administrative powers in Karresa, and further investigate other possible crimes
3) 10,000,000 Shekels will be paid to the families of each of those killed in the Embassy attacks, and 3,000,000 Shekels will be given to each of the wounded.
4) The Karresa military will be dissolved and all police activities will be under command of the Goralon Union Occupation Force, comprising of 10,000 soldiers from each of the GU Member nations.

Asar glances up as the last of the boxes are brought in. He puts both letters back in his pocket. He walks towards the door, pausing and looking back as he reaches the exit . 48 hours, and unless our terms are meet we will invade, and our victory terms will not be nearly as kind.

"Enough of this!" Kizako Okawa, the Dekartan ambassador to the UN stood. "The United Republic has always been friends with both the Goralon Union and Karresa, and I think I speak for the whole world when I say we will NOT stand idly by and watch two nations go to war over accusations and an investigation that has only been going on for what I would consider a very short time." The general assembly remained at a hush, shocked by Okawa's outburst. "You don't solve terrorism with war, if that was the case I would be invading east Zhinoh looking for the former Emperor. I can promise you and your nation this sir, any act of war from your nation will be met with strict sanctions and punishments from the entire United Nations, worse than the ones we planned on imposing against Karresa before you called an emergency meeting to announce your plans to be an aggressor state. The nation of Dekarta will not support you, and we will not allow you to walk passed their borders, into THEIR holy lands, and hurt their culture and way of life." Okawa looks around, straightens his tie, and sits down, surprised at his bold action.

Asar stops at the outburst of the Dekartan. He opens a box, from it he pulls a stack of images. He walks slowly, calmly to the Dekartan mans seat and places them before him. The top image is that of a diplomat, his legs blown off and his abdomen shredded.

This man is Yasir Hikmet, he was a good friend of mine. He was a good man, he gave to charity, he worked with the poor of Karresa, and used his own meager pay to help establish a homeless shelter in his home village. He is dead now. Blown to pieces by a terrorist attack sanctions by the Karressian government. In all honesty this was not a terrorist attack, this was an act of war against Brutii, ordered by their government, as an attack against us. Asar flips throught the images.

Bayezid Zhou, a Dekartan 2nd generation immigrant, he was gutted by one of the militants before the bomb was detonated. Baraa Salami, she was the first women to serve in the embassy, her family was very proud, her body was almost beyond recognition, we only identified her by her necklace, a gift from her daughter. Asar turns back towards the other delegates.

I don't care about your sanctions, but you should. Brutii supplies 26% of Dekartas oil, and 30% of the worlds oil. You sanction us, you countries suffer, far more than ours will. We have no intention of harming the Karressian people, the Jews are our brothers of the book, the name they call their god is irrelevant to us. We are going in to arrest their government and bring them to justice for their crimes.

And this investigation has gone on for over 3 months, and we have more proof than you can imagine. Hell we even have recordings of the meeting in which the President of Karresa agreed to the attack, courtesy of a secretary who had second thoughts about the attack before it occurred. Asar walks back towards the Dekartan. We will bring those who murdered our people to justice, and then we will restore order to Karresa.

UN General Assembly

With the session quickly descending into chaos, Secretary-General Ergo whispers into the GA President's ear advising him to end the session, the President quickly ends the chaotic session. Secretary Ergo then calls the ambassadors of Dekarta, and Brutii into his office.

Image
Secretary Ergo's office

"Gentlemen, I have summoned you here to end this debate. One the attacks on the embassy was tragic and deeply upsetting for us all, but we can not allow this attack to erode peace. Two, propose we form a Commission of Reconciliation that will investigate your claims. It is not in the interests of any UN member for sanctions to be passed, this would cut off vital oil supplies and cut global economic growth, however it would certainly cripple Brutii's economy almost immediately after oil cold not be bought by rich western nations. Now we will talk like gentlemen and come up with an agreement that all sides can agree too. War is not an acceptable, nor is it an intelligent outcome."

The Secretary awaits for their responses

Another Fang Union meeting occurred on the day the Brutiian Embassy in Karresa was attacked. During this meeting, the Tuaadorean President again suggested disbanding the Fang Union and rejoining the U.N, which Tuaador had not even done yet.
The Stassovic Tsar and Annopolite President were yet to decide, but the Grazikian Prime Minister was siding with President Hughes. With two votes of 'no' and two votes of 'yes', Emperor Lysvand II gave a neutral vote, but decided to disband the F.U.
The leaders of Stassov and Annopol were given time to make decisions, or they could continue to run the F.U without Kahliste and Tuaador. Stassov was leaning towards the decision of giving up on it, but Annopol seemed like it would hold.

Despite this, Kahliste was officially out of the F.U, and so was Tuaador. However, Grazikia was now also allied with the two countries. Depending on Stassov's decision, they would be allied as well.
The views of this nation (Kahliste) do not reflect my own. But when it does, then it's none of your business.

"Thank you Mr. Ergo" Okawa shoots a glance at Asar "I'm glad I'm not the only one seeking a peaceful end to the situation in Goralon. Mr. Al-Afghani, the attack was a tragedy, and I'm personally sorry about the loss of your friend. However your nation's resolution should be reconsidered. Innocent Karresians will die if you continue forward with this aggressive stance. But you can expect the world to react accordingly, Karresa will suffer for this attack, their president is already banned from the continent of Arakai due to this, and Dekarta has cut it's arms trading to their nations military. That is how the world ends conflicts now, war is a fool's errand if not used as a last resort."

Postby The Gujiyan Isles » Mon Jan 26, 2015 12:53 am

When the Second Great War ended, Gujiya was at a breaking point. The armed forces were in shambles and were quick to shift responsibility for local governance and peacekeeping to the governments of Trandosha, Kashyyk, and Goguryeo, all formed from occupied territories. The Gujiyan Armed Forces still operates numerous small bases and outposts, but were unable to police the new nations in the turbulent years after the Second Great War. During the war, a mass exodus from the region occurred. As residents returned, many found their hometowns destroyed, or occupied by hostile militias. These militias formed out of necessity when communities chose sides in the war, and had to fight to protect themselves. After the war, the new governments were largely impotent in their efforts to keep peace and disarm the militias.
The Trandoshan people, being the most passive, fared the best at first. However, the country no longer had the ethnic homogeneity that it had enjoyed before the war. Slums formed in the cities, and the capital exerted almost no control over its most eastern provinces. Kashyyk, a shadow of its former self, was forced to abandon the capital of Boisheng to separatists. From the new capital of Oparu, the government only controlled a strip of land along the coast. In Goguryeo, the rural areas to the north were taken over by militants operating from the deserts in Zhinoh, while the east was lost to separatists five years after the war ended. The borders that Gujiya had drawn on the map were nothing more than lines in the sand for the warlords that controlled the countryside. Largely invisible to the international community, they maintained brutal control over their holdings. For the refugees living during this time, it was hell. Rival gangs, militias, and mafias waged near constant war for land and people to tax. Gujiya turned a blind eye to the whole affair, worried that international attention would highlight the nation’s inept handling of occupied territory. However, it was becoming clear that militants were killing hundreds of innocents a day. The complete destabilization of the local governments had disrupted the trade of industrially important material such as lumber and sandstone, and had resulted in the deaths of dozens of Gujiyan soldiers as remote outposts were destroyed or overtaken by militants.
After a roadside bomb kills 26 Gujiyan soldiers, 11 Trandoshan police officers, and 37 innocents as they attempted to evacuate a village about to be overtaken by separatists, the Gujiyan Legislative Council declares a state of emergency, and authorize military action to counter the militants and protect national interests. With the tacit approval of the governments of Trandosha, Kashyyk, and Goguryeo, the armed forces prepare to mobilize 350,000 troops, with an additional 50,000 troops to police Oparu and Shenzhou. A separate task force of 75,000 troops is assembled to protect supply lines between Goguryeo City and the Briong coast. Four mechanized battalions are summoned, and the Gujiyan Air Force commits 50 jet fighters and 350 second-generation prop fighters, bombers, and transport aircraft to the war effort.
The plan is to secure Oparu and Shenzhou, then establish control over the Trandosha-Kashyyk border region. With the separatists in northern Kashyyk isolated from allies and suppliers in E. Trandosha and Zhinoh, Gujiyan forces will siege Boisheng. When a continuous line of control is established running roughly from Goguryeo City to Shenzhou, further plans will be made after a reassessment of key targets and enemy strength.
Leaders view the situation as desperate, and although international support is not expected, they go ahead with their plans. The Second Gujiyan Invasion of Trandosha begins. The goal: to restore order.

The Dekartan Government has condemned the atrocious act of war by Gujiya and President Zawa has asked the Gikai to allow him to break the UN's first resolution to keep the Dekartan armed forces under 100,000 by starting a massive recruitment program all across the nation, hoping to have the Dekartan defense force reach more than 500,000 by mid-year. The nation's military was much smaller than the Gujiyanese, however it possessed the second most advanced technology behind Reichsland. The leaders of Dekartan Republic and Zhinoh are to meet in Shinomachi to discuss how to deal with Gujiya and it's invasion. The Dekartan ambassador to the UN has also asked for a meeting of the UN Security Council, and for them to act accordingly and make just decisions in stopping Gujiya's second invasion of mainland Arakai, as they are trampling over these nation's cultures and languages to "restore order" in places with some of the highest population of police forces per capita on the planet.

Revolution in Nordiska
June of 1960
The Grand Duchy of the North Island (Nordiska) was growing at a remarkable rate due to emigrants from the surrounding region after two world wars and the collapse of the Kestraelian government, where the nation of Latonar now stands. These destructive events secured the Grand Duchy's position as a place of peace; however, this peace was now in jeopardy. The Grand Duchy, which existed peacefully with its agrarian peoples for hundreds of years, was now under attack from the new immigrants who demanded a better say in politics. In urban areas, violent protests in poor communities are endangering the lives of natives, and in rural areas, royalist-versus-migrationist fighting is ravaging the landscape.

The Grand Duchy is calling upon the United Nations for assistance. The government has come to the UN with a charter outlining their plea.

Charter Requesting UN Assistance in Nordiska
1. Admission of the Grand Duchy of the North Island, commonly known as Nordiska, into the United Nations.
2. Deployment of United Nations peacekeeping forces as a bipartisan militia to defend Nordiskan citizens.
3. Assistance by the United Nations of drafting a formal decree instituting a constitutional monarchy.
a. The current Grand Duke, Grand Duke Oswald IV, will remain instituted as the head of state.
b. The current legislative body, the House of Appoints, will remain the upper house, and must accompany 102 hereditary counts and 8 religious figureheads, headed by the Grand Duke.
c. The United Nations will institute a lower house consisting of a number of elected representatives, that number being decided by the United Nations.
d. The judicial branch of the government will remain unchanged.
4. The United Nations will remain fair and balanced in their decisions.

Austerlitz June 1960

The expansion of Wesselsburg was progressing smoothly, though the work was not easy by any means. Soldiers and civilians alike toiled night and day working on the new project, taking the workload in shifts. After two months of construction, the two new barracks blocks were complete and the fresh men were moved into them. The majority of these soldiers were members of the 52nd Reichswehr Division. There were also elements of the 384th Engineers Battalion and the 7th CBRN Regiment. With the newly developing situations across the world, such as the looming war on Goralon. This alone prompted President Rost to prioritize the completion of the nuclear weapons silos at Wesselsburg. There will initially be four of them, with one estimated to be completed by the end of the month...

End of June, 1960

The first of the nuclear silos had been completed, and a civilian freighter sailed for Austerlitz from Reichsland. The ship was under heavy naval escort, for the cargo they transported was extremely valuable and it could be very disastrous if that weapon fell into the wrong hands. Once the ship docked, the missile would be carefully transported overland to Wesselsburg. It would then remain there, acting as a deterrent to any would be aggressors on the continent. Hopefully the nations of the world would not see this as a move of provocation, however with tensions growing ever more strained, this had a high probability of making things worse.

Earlier...
Leupold Dietrich watched with a slight sense of shock as the representative from Dekarta erupted into his outburst. This was not normal protocol for a representative, and if anyone was a stickler for rules and etiquette it was Leupold. The session was quickly brought back into order, and the men were called into the Secretary-General's office for what he supposed was further discussion on the matter. It was Leupold's opinion that the attack could be construed as a direct act of war against Brutii, seeing that it had evidently been authorized by several members of the Karressian government. If Reichsland was in Brutii's position, the people would undoubtedly be calling for the blood of the aggressors. Since the session was over now, Leupold made his way back to his office where he placed a call to the President, requesting direction on what course of action he should take. The President echoed Leupold's sentiments and told him that if came down to it, then offer Reichsland's support to Brutii.

An ending to an era

After nearly 256 years of an ultimate state of isolation, the people of Asherta have finally raised their voices to overthrow the power-compulsive kingdom of Asherta. At approximately 2:36am of last night, 452 civilians armed with weapons and assistance from the very own palace guards, stormed the Royal Palace and arresting the King and Queen themselves. Their is to be expectation of a trial for their war crimes brought against them, but currently the nation is left without someone to lead them.
