Ace Combat: Wings of Hope
Sotoa, its territory devastated by rapid industrialization, invaded the FCU in search of a breakthrough, leaving its wasteland-bound homeland behind. Sotoa's formidable military—spearheaded by the Tarpan-class land battleships and an array of advanced new weaponry—rapidly crushed the FCU military, driving the nation ever closer to realizing its ambitions.
Meanwhile, the FCU faced a crisis. Some of the disunited member states defected to the Sotoa side, and a significant number of key military units suffered heavy losses and were scattered. At the same time, Sotoa continued its advance to seize the remainder of the FCU's territory, committing various war crimes—including attacks on civilians, the killing of prisoners, and attempted forced marriages.
Ultimately, this war provoked the Republic of Sydna—a long-standing major power situated north of the FCU that had pursued isolationism and withdrawn from the international political stage (including the G8) following the 1999 Ulysses Impact Event. Concerned that Sotoa’s extreme belligerence would engulf the entire Usea continent and eventually threaten Sydna itself, Sydna abandoned the isolationist policy it had maintained for thirty years. The conflict escalated in November 2029 when Sydna launched a massive offensive. Sydnan air force and multiple carrier strike groups bombarded Sotoa forces occupying the northern reaches of FCU territory, followed by the landing of large-scale ground troops.
Welcome to Ace Combat: Wings of Hope. This roleplay is primarily set against the backdrop of the story of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. Aside from the presence of Sydna, other story elements remain largely identical to the original work. You can choose to represent one of the nations from Strangereal, the world of Ace Combat, or participate as your own NS nation.
In this RP, you will intervene in the FCU-Sotoa War as a third party. The overall narrative will follow the storyline of AC8. In other words, Sotoa's defeat is a predetermined outcome. However, the specific direction of the story may vary. The extent of the damage sustained by Sotoa, the fate of Ellington Baxter, the role played by 'Rex', and other details will depend on your actions.
While this RP is open to everyone, I would strongly prefer participants who can write substantial posts, as I do not want the thread to be flooded with short, 1–5 line entries. Please be aware that I may ask prospective participants to provide an RP sample.
If you would like to participate, please leave a reply in this thread.

Federation of Central Usea
The Federation of Central Usea—a nation with a tragic destiny, having borne the brunt of the 1999 Ulysses Impact Event and been embroiled in two massive continental wars—faced an invasion by Sotoa before it could even fully recover from the devastation of the previous conflict. In a flash, the majority of its territory was seized by Sotoa, and most of its vital military assets were destroyed. Amidst this atmosphere of despair, the only hope sustaining the few remaining FCU soldiers and the suffering citizenry is the legend of a mysterious pilot known as "The Wing of Theve."
Republic of Sydna
Once a major power at the heart of global politics and trade, Sydna had sealed its borders and retreated to its island mainland in 1999. For the three decades that followed—while war engulfed various continents—Sydna remained safely ensconced at home, reaping only economic benefits. Now, however, they can no longer hide. To their immediate south, the FCU faces a dire military crisis. Their adversary is not Erusea—previously considered a "somewhat" rational actor—but Sotoa, a nation consumed by a destructive frenzy. Determined to act before Sotoa could target them next, Sydna has thrown open gates closed for 30 years and deployed a massive military force to the sea.
Republic of Sotoa
Sotoa, which originated as a confederation of nomadic tribes, underwent rapid industrialization in the 20th century; in 2009, it accelerated this process to build the military might needed to counter the major power Yuktobania—a nation it had previously fought—thereby emerging as a powerhouse with formidable military and technological capabilities. However, this came at the cost of accelerated environmental degradation, leaving the nation to grapple with desertification and water resource crises. With most of its territory—including the central interior—transformed into a barren wasteland devoid of even a single blade of grass, Sotoa relocated its capital to a megafloat in the middle of the ocean and launched an invasion of the FCU in 2029. Armed with an array of advanced weaponry, Sotoa’s forces rapidly seized control of FCU territory, and with some nations within the FCU aligning themselves with Sotoa, it appeared the war would conclude swiftly.
The situation began to shift in November 2029, when Sydna abandoned its 30 years isolationist policy and entered the war. Meanwhile, rumors spread among Sotoa’s pilots that "The Wing of Theve"—a force that had previously relied on evasion and flight—had changed its tactics and become a grim reaper for Sotoa’s pilots.
