Dep. of Defense Announces Anti-Ballistic Missile Research

The Department of Defense has announced a new initiative to revamp the aging anti-ballistic-missile system. The old Falcon system was designed in the 1960s, and now could be easily breached. The new program named the Desroches System after the Olpenese Chamber Minister during WW2, will be significantly more effective at deterring attacks on Olpen such as those launched by the Third Olpenese Empire Association and rogue states.
The project's timing is considered weird by some as Olpen has been pursuing isolationism and non-interventionism, and some question why Olpen might be attacked. Proponents of the project say that in this era and time where war is being declared over seemingly no reason, it is important to have adequate anti-ICBM systems in the scenario that an unprovoked war is declared on Olpen.
The government had to say on the timing of the project;

In the turbulent age we are living in, it is of the utmost importance that we preemptively prepare for a catastrophic event in order to protect Olpen for future generations.

The research will supposedly involve both students and professors at the Paul Edvar National Institute of Science (PENIS). Its chief scientist will be the eccentric researcher and military developer, Paul Edvar. He previously worked on the Oppenheimer Legacy Weapon as a researcher. He is known for his great intelligence. He worked on the Drone Program as well as the Electromagnetic Melee Sabre Project.

Election 2028; Opinions of Candidates

Top candidates from each major party

Olpen is going through the campaigning season for the 2028 General Election. All three major parties; the Liberal Communists, the Conservative Democrats, and the Dignants, have been seeing major frontrunners. The current incumbent who will certainly be nominated for the LibComs, Chamber Minister Skinner, has already seen record support numbers. The Conservative Democrat Martin Brown is seeing major support, and a recent frontrunner for the new Dignants has seen their frontrunner in Senator Avrill Stein.
The Scezonian Democrat has asked about these candidates' positions on major topics, and below are their beliefs about isolation, unionization, and military spending.

On Isolation: Chamber Minister Skinner of course supports non-interventionism and auturkism, having pioneered it himself. If and when elected, the Chamber Minister will continue his policies on this matter as outlined in his recent statement.
On Military Spending: MoC Skinner has always supported spending reasonably on the nation's defense. He recently approved an act to expand defense spending in the interest of the nation, and under his administration, the Desroches Initiative began to defend Olpen.
On Unions: Chamber Minister Skinner has always supported unions. When the International Union was formed, Chamber Minister Skinner eagerly provided support to unions seeking to join. he has always cared deeply for workers and workers' rights and has used the Department of Investments to block corporations from harming the worker.

On Isolation: The Mayor has believed in auturkism and self-reliance even during his 2023 Campaign. While he wishes to intervene in righteous causes, he will accept the will of the people and continue political non-isolation.
On Military Spending: Mayor Brown has always supported investing in the nation's defense. if elected, he will modernize and expand the Armed Forces as appropriate.
On Unions: Martin Brown stands up to the establishment for the little man. He supports unionization that help Olpenese workers, despite the wishes of big businesses.

On Isolation: Senator Avril Stein believes that Olpen should begin steering the world towards a better future, though she agrees as her Dignant forefathers did that war is an evil that should be avoided.
On Military Spending The Senator supports spending an adequate amount of money on defense, though believes that this should be only caution and we should not appear threatening.
On Unions Senator Stein believes strongly that Unions should help employees, but they should also know when to stop in the interest of the national economy. If they don't she believes unions could be regulated.

As the Revolution Day comes near, the Fort is graced by the new red color, along with a new set of flags and symbols. Last year's Revolution Day was cancelled, mainly because of international and internal affairs plaguing Janpia during PM Yorischa's term. But this year, the Revolution Day will be commenced and held by the new People's Marshal, Natya Anya, in which she will announce the plans for the Revolutionary Forces, along with the plans for Janpia and the world. The Revolution Day the most important event in Janpia, commemorating the victory of the Janpian Union of Government Worker's Party against the Empire, defeating plenty reactionary parties and warlords, and uniting all worker's parties into a singular entity. It is said that this year's parade will feature newer Janpian military equipment and advanced technology, along with what they call "breakthrough" designs. The march will be followed by a civic parade, in which tractors, workers, doctors, and unions will march down the main road, carrying the red and black banners of Janpia. Munschen Harbor are also being cleared from the sea traffic, in preparation for the upcoming Naval review. The Naval review will feature 2 newly launched ship-class, which is said to be a game-changer in the Revolutionary Navy. While everything is being set up, rows of tanks and divisions rehearsed down the Fort Kalinka main gates, while Hisshin aircrafts practiced air formation and maneuvers for the fly-by. Security are also beefed up, noting the holes and mistakes from the assassination of King Hrach I; and any possible foreign sabotage or espionage. The Janpian Union of Revolutionary Intelligence Center (JURIC) heightens the secret police operations, known as the Revolutionary Internal Security Enforcement (RISE), watching for any suspicious activity, espionage attempts, and any possible disruptors of public order.

As the techpriests retrieved what the Krieg had excavated, they were escorted to dropships bringing them back to Beijing where they could be taken to an Emperor-Class. COUNTESIAN FEDERAL NAVY CONDUCTS FIRST ROUND OF STRIDENT MISSILE TESTS

In late 2020, the Countesian Ministry of a Defence reportedly made a bid to its in-house military industry consortium CDC for a multirole missile to fill the divide between anti-ship and anti-air missiles that Countesian vessels sorely lacked. It specified a need missile that could be used to engage air targets, but also capable of neutralising small to medium surface threats whilst still being compatible with its modular vertical launch systems. Such reports were confirmed when the Countesian Ministry of Defence announced that it had awarded a contract to military arms company Centurion Arms to produce a new generation of missile, the SH2-Strident Multirole Missile. Specifics details have been designated as high level classified, but developers claim the missile possess a more powerful warhead and superior avionics to anything Countesia has ever fielded before. After several years in design and after numerous successful land tests, the Countesian Federal Navy have moved to the final stages of sea trials.

Top Secret CIB Scientific Research Base

With the protests still going strong, and foreign military support deployed, Project Cobra has now been initiated. At the top secret CIB scientific research base in Ozlens, CIB Lead Interrogator Li Otten enters the building to meet with Project Head Walter Kosters, "Good Afternoon Mr. Kosters, I'm Mr. Otten, the inventor of Quick Descent, it's nice to meet you." Li says shaking Walter's hand. "Ditto to you, Mr. Otten. Now, let me take you to where this project's going to sit." Walter says motioning Li to follow.

They both walk along a silver hallway, not much to be seen, except solitary-like doors and glass panes overlooking them to the side. They both walk by many things, some rooms showed live civilians strapped down on metal tables being injected, while other rooms were nothing but darkness, seemingly not being used, but you'd never know. Finally, they both make it to a door on the very far end on the right side of the wall, it's a highly secured door, moreso than the rest, with keycard entry and what looks to be a retina scanner. Walter swipes his keycard and gets his retina scanned and then the door unlocks and opens, and within it, is a huge room filled with test tubes, tables, and a dedicated private testing room with glass looking into the main room.

"Yeah, big huh...that's what I thought when I first got my job at this facility" Walter says chuckling, and Li's mouth agape. "In here" Walter says entering the testing room, "As you can see on that table, got it delivered right from MOD, we have ourselves, a nuclear warhead. It's one from our military arsenal, I believe it's a..." Walter says pausing to check the paperwork he picked up beside him, "The...B61-11 yeah, that one. Due to the circumstances in which nuclear material is, you know, being unstable and all, we'll be handling it from here, then putting on a nuclear radiation suit to actually interact with it without getting poisoned."

"Yeah that's probably a good idea" Li says chuckling softly. "Alright then, let's do it" Walter says in response, then motioning the other members of his project team to launch the remote arm extender and prepare to operate on a nuclear warhead. The remote-operated hand begins operation, being put together in less than an hour by top CIB engineers, and history is about to be made, and the nuclear warhead's compartment is opened up very carefully and the plutonium and other radioactive material is taken out, and then right as the hand almost makes it to the secured compartment within the wall of the room for this material, the hand fails, with the material still within its grasp, and Walter than says "Hey! What's happening over there guys?!?" and they all respond "I think the system's malfunctioning sir" and Walter then responds "Man...can you make it work again?" and they all nod their heads no and then the Lead Engineer says "Not immediately sir, it'd take time"

"Well somebody do SOMETHING! WE JUST HAVE RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL SITTING THERE!" Walter says shouting. "And what exactly do you expect engineers to be able to do to fix it...remotely?" Li asks with a raised eyebrow. "Screw it, fine, get me a nuclear radiation suit, I'm going in, and you all better have yours on too, unless you want to be poisoned" Walter responds fuming. Walter puts on the suit, albeit struggling due to not being his size, and he walks into the restricted room with the nuclear bomb and material, grabs the remote hand and rips it off its hinges, then grabbing the material and walking back. Everybody else puts their radiation suits on before unlocking the door, and he walks in and Li says "Here, give it to me" and Walter does, Li then puts it on a table to look at it, then at a whiteboard hanging up on the wall closest to it.

"What's this?" Li asks questionably, "Oh, it's an idea for creating a gun, a safe one of course, to disperse the radioactive material with ease, to any target as seen fit. It can affect the shooter too, if they aren't wearing a suit, but we haven't found a fix for that yet." Walter responds pointing at some of the equations seen on the whiteboard. "I find that highly intriguing, and it just might work, but you'd need a way to make it, 'implode' as you say, and a gun doesn't have that kind of terminal velocity to create it. You'd need a similar chamber as is found in that warhead." Li says pointing towards the warhead.

"You make a fair point Li, a very fair point, but how would you design that into the gun?" Walter asks, and one of the CIB engineers chimes in, saying "I mean, when you think about it, it's not so impossible. All you'd need to do is create a gun that points directly straight like a regular gun, and then for the trigger, you can have a metal rod or a screwdriver or a cap or similar, and have that go in below the material, and that, would be the ignition point for an 'implosion' as you say, and it would go right out of the front of the barrel." "And how would you put new material in?" Li and Walter ask, then a different CIB engineer responds, saying "Can't we just make the gun thicker than the usual one, and have a pop-top that opens and closes? You open it, put the material in, then close it and seal it to make sure it goes out where it's supposed to. The material would have to sit right at the center of the gun to connect with the barrel."

All the CIB engineers nod their heads in agreement. "How long would development take of a weapon like this?" Li inquires, and Walter says "Approximately a year, maybe longer, due to the need to research materials and what we could use to make it. Metal's seeming like a very viable option, just due to how it works." in response. "There's one thing we didn't address, how to control outtake." Li inquires, and all the CIB engineers scratch their heads on ways to do it, and Walter doesn't even seem to know, and then Li just says "Alright, that's fine, if you don't know we'll address it later. Just keep me updated and let me know if you need help" Li says walking out of the room and leaving the facility. Walter ends up running after him and escorting him out.

The PT-726 robot can be programmed with various personalities to the customer's liking behind their faceplate are the primary optic sensors and the central processing unit that allows the robots to have a personality (modifications with 3rd party parts will result in the warranty being voided) the robots come equipped cartridge-based weapons integrated into both of its manipulators for either security duties or self-defense the hands and weapons can easily be switched out for other things for intended purposes.

The Oceanian International Exports will like to point out that the PT-726 shouldn't be used for direct combat for one's military as the alloy plates won't protect the robot from military-grade ammunition and weapons if one looking for a direct-combat robot they are out of luck as the KX-enforcer droid is not authorized for international sells however PT-726s can be used for logistic duties, military police, and even administration duties. In response to a statement made by the government of the Marajarbian Federation earlier today, the Berlin-Vienna Pact would like to clarify the events that have led up to this statement and refute the slanderous claims the Marajarbian government has made at the Berlin-Vienna Pact's expense.

The breakdown of friendly diplomacy between the Pact and the Marajarbian Federation is a direct result of Marajarbia's disrespectful and domineering actions. Marajarbia has, in acting as a spokesperson for the Global Entente of Nations & Alliances (GENA), declared that the Pact would be stepping in to replace GENA in the Acornesian conflict. However, it did so knowing well in advanced that no such guarantee had been made, formally or informally. When this was brought up while discussing potential B-VP involvement in Acornesia, as well as other concerns with becoming involved in said conflict, the Marajarbian delegation refused to acknowledge any wrongdoings and instead insisted on B-VP involvement without addressing any of the concerns given.

When worries of GENA or Marajarbian dominance over the Pact were brought up, with fears of losing autonomy being among chief concerns, the Marajarbian delegation became belligerent and insisted that sacrificing the Pact's autonomy to GENA would be in its best interest. With GENA leadership's history of erasing or otherwise overriding the autonomy of member alliances and nations, Marajarbia's recent disrespectful and authoritative acts directed at the Pact, and no points of concern ever addressed a question was raised to the Marajarbian delegation: "Why should we trust you?"

The Marajarbian response was to cut ties with the Berlin-Vienna Pact and slander its conduct and credibility on international channels. Marajarbia has unilaterally called upon GENA and its allies to prepare for a cold war aimed at rivalling other such conflicts in the past and has done so out of its own pettiness. If the Marajarbian government had clarified any one of the numerous concerns that had been raised, allowed itself to coexist with an alliance that disagreed with it on one single issue, did not blatantly disregard the Pact's autonomy by making promises on its behalf, or left amicably it would be possible to give the Marajarbian government the benefit of doubt and assume no ill will in its intentions. But with all facts laid out it is impossible not to see Marajarbia thirst for power driving this call-to-arms.

The Berlin-Vienna Pact is not a corrupt organization and its member nations are not "problematic" as Marajarbia has claimed, unless one considers "not recognizing Marajarbian hegemony over the Pact" problematic. These are the words of a nation who, having trounced its former adversary, seeks a new one to maintain its powerbase as others have done throughout all of human history. But this "new threat" cannot exist without the Marajarbian Federation first being the aggressor, and there can be no war without Marajarbia being the one to seek it out.

We urge any who maintain good relations with GENA or Marajarbia to reconsider their diplomacy between themselves and these two entities. We urge GENA members to reconsider their membership to an alliance who is unilaterally governed by a nation who resorts to underhanded tactics and threats of violence when they do not get their way. Above all, we wish to convey to all regardless of affiliation that the Berlin-Vienna Pact does not intend to war with anyone. We shall defend ourselves, should Marajarbia lead soldier onto our shores or seek to dismantle our autonomy, but we shall never be the aggressor in such a conflict.

Muqaddasia, infuriated by Olpen’s lies, shows photos of Olpenese spies who were imprisoned in Muqaddasia. Muqaddasia has officially cut off all economic, military and diplomatic relations and closed embassies with Olpen until they apologise, admit to lying and pay 150 million NSD for each system (each Muqaddasi system costs 300 million). All Muqaddasi citizens in Olpen are encouraged to leave and return to Muqaddasia.
In other news, Muqaddasia revealed that it is in possession of one nuclear warhead, and has been nuclear armed since the war with Janpia. The highest Ayatollahs agree that nuclear weapons are allowed as long as they do not target civilians and are only used in situations where the existence of Muqaddasia is threatened. It has also revealed that the Nimr-110 sixth generation stealth fighter has been developed. No pictures or general description of the anime has been released so far.

Another terrorist attack similar to the one in Galapagos has occured in KUN. Killing 6 and injuring 26. Police have identified it as being a car bomb explodedright next to a house. Currently police do not know a motive but have idenified the car as belonging to a member of a exetremist branch of the Zarnicovian church. It operates churchs in 5 countries and is believed it be aided by AZNUP and formerly the royal family.

Links with AZNUP for this attack are likely and politicians in KUN are wondering how to respond.

As death count rises, CDIB Raid on church leads to multiple dead and few arrested.

This afternoon at 11:20 p.m near downtown Varosa, a car bomb went off near a apartment complex. The car detonated near the apartment complex which had been scheduled to go through maintenance which triggered another explosion inside the apartment and later catching the building on fire. It was estimated 3 people were killed as soon as the detonation went off, one of the three being a 8 year old boy Jahseh Fortuna. The fire began to spread quick and attendants inside the complex began to quickly help each other out to leave the building. Another 3 were confirmed dead with two of which died when the secondary explosion went off in the complex. The one death had been from a person who was trapped inside the building who after the fire was extinguished was found to have died from severe burns. Another 26 have been injured in the bombing as well, with 6 of the injured people in critical condition and one not to long after arriving at the hospital was pronounced dead. VPD began an immediate investigation where CCTV caught a video of the suspected bomber and owner of the vehicle. 32 year old Dom Hall who has been suspected of being part of extremist branch of the Zarncovian church. The information gathered by police was handed to the CDIB which eventually lead to CDIB figuring out where the suspected terrorists resigned. CDIB not to long after conducted a raid on Zarncovian church where Dom Hall frequented, the raid led to multiple shots being fired, leading to three CDIB agents wounded but not in critical condition. The raid did however lead to the deaths of 9 of the suspected terrorists in the raid including hall, who committed suicide by a self inflicting gunshot wound to the head and the arrests of 3 others in the process. Kazimierz Vadászok director of CDIB had came out with the statement quote: "We tried our best to handle the situation as much as we can, this attack is still not a closed case by no means. CDIB will be interrogating and is trying to figure out the motives and the true people behind this attack. We will continue to keep the public updated on any events that unfold, but at the moment I will say we are still investigating." end quote.

With the deteriorating relations between Muqaddasia and South Olpen over the topic of espionage that has ended in total severing of relations between the two entities the Galapagos has decided to propose a trade agreement to the state of South Olpen. The treaty drafted by the government is as follows.

1. Galapagos will lift tariffs against South Olpenese luxury goods as to promote trade relations
2. South Olpen will lift “enemy” classification letting trade goods that would otherwise be blocked to be bought

4. Galapagos will remove South Olpen’s “Geopolitical rival” label and remove all the extra tariffs that come with that

In a move made by the People's Marshal, the Marajarbian Embassy at Kalingrad, the only GENA member-state embassy at Janpia, has been told to pack-up and leave in a short time of 3 days. This action was done after the People's Marshal tagged that the Marajarbian Government as the "Enemy of the Revolution" with fascistic elements on its society and government. In under 3 days, diplomatic immunity will be removed from the Embassy and its members, allowing the Janpian Government to sieze the building and its properties, or arrest its members breaking the law. Furthermore, the People's Marshal stated that the Marajarbian space on Kalingrad is like a mole on the heart of the revolution. The Janpian Union of Revolutionary Intelligence Center (JURIC) has stated that the Marajarbian Embassy on the capital is a threat to the Revolution's defense, undermining its integrity and defense, stating the possible enemy communication intercepts, and performing espionage while under the guise of diplomatic immunity.

The Marajarbians, where companies have connections with the government, and a government with an absolute emperor with no elections, does not deserve to be in a place of the Revolution where we allow legitimate democracy, freedom, and unity of the workers. Divouga, Guadalupador- The Ministries of Defense and Trade, in response to the actions of the Global Entente of Nations and Alliances, announced that any vessels belonging to GENA member-states present in Guadalupadorian territorial waters would be interdicted and impounded in Guadalupadorian ports. The Government of South Olpen has agreed to the trade deal presented by the Galapagosian state half a week ago. This comes after conditions with a traditionally large trade partner, Muqqadasia, has cut ties with Olpen following accusations and a demand to pay upwards of 300 million dollars.
In a conference regarding the trade agreement, the Minister of Economic Relations and Trade, Jet Smith, said, "When a foreign nation attacks the government of Olpen, it becomes necessary to move on for the success of the country. The Galapagos is a valuable trading partner, who will certainly aid Olpen financially."
The Chamber Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Relations, Hugo Duval, has clarified that Olpen is still isolationist, and will not be importing necessary goods like steel, oil, and other such items, and they will only import civilian products, such as TVs, couches, and tables.
The ending of trade with Muqqadasia is expected to have serious ramifications as the globe wholeheartedly condemns GENA. It is unknown for how long the IHS economy will be able to support itself without the import of foreign, non-Asian goods and without being able to export oil globally. In this case, it is hoped Muqqaasia will come to its senses and pay the demand of reparations, purportedly now upwards of 50 million dollars. In that case, it is likely trade will be reopened.

Local commanders on high-alert(giving them near-total autonomy from the central command) believing this to be an IFC preparing an invasion would order a preemtive strike. Zarnicovian Novan military bases and possible also naval ships near the coast would fire over 40 missiles at 1:56-2:04 A.M in the morning. After weeks of conflict and instability, the Imperium Armed Forces were successfully able to end the Insurgency in Indonesia after taking the Insurgent's base of operations. Senate Debates Bill to Join Reichsstadt Treaty Coalition

New Rome, NRI – Over the last several days, the Senate has been debating a bill which would pave the way for the NRI to sign the Reichsstadt Treaty. The Reichsstadt Treaty, announced recently by the Common Territories, is an agreement targeted at cutting GENA off from global trade. It also authorizes signatories to interdict and seize GENA ships in its territorial waters.

A month ago, this bill would have passed easily when the Senate was Optimates control. However, a coalition government removed the Optimates Praetor, the head of government, and installed
Seia Libois as the Praetor. Libois is an outspoken critic of Caesar Belletor’s hostile foreign policy. She has been working to change the foreign policy through legislation, though many of the passed bills have been vetoed by Belletor.

Optimates Senators have been working to convince members of other parties to vote for this bill. The Senator from the Monarcha party has committed to voting for the bill, however the 3 Senators from the Factio Communis party have publicly stated they will be voting against it. The majority of the 39 Populares Senators said they will not break party ranks. Inside sources report that Optimates Senators are focusing on those in the Transhumanus party. If they can get 8 Transhumanus Senators to defect, the bill will pass. So far only 1 Senator in the Transhumanus party has publicly stated he will vote for the bill, citing protections for industry in his province. The vote is scheduled to occur on July 20.
