Apparently Luminumbra's weapon outputs fifty times the... (mass-)energy? ... of all stars in the universe? Like, that's something on the order of a novemdecillion tons of TNT. Literally ten to the sixtieth power or so, plus or minus a few orders of magnitude.

Guys, I'm pretty sure bringing a multiverse-tier weapon to a small galactic conflict is sort of very very stupid, and that's coming from the guy who genuinely established the existence of multiverse-tier weapons in his canon.

Concordium: I... wasn't aware you had entire universe-sized megastructures to toss around either. Did you upgrade your canon since the last time I checked? Going from planetary to massively multiversal in like a thousand years or so would be seen as... basically a runaway viral event by the VCMR. Like, "toss literally everything at this, we need to stop it from annihilating all of existence" level threat.
"The military is just a very inefficient motor, really; it turns zero-point potential energy into kinetic energy in a long and intricate process that involves a lot of banter."
Welcome to the VCMR: the end result of a multiversal superpower attempting a pure-DPS build.

Okay, now I'm actually curious. What are universe crackers?

Terminates all the universal forces through the power of "fuck you". Every thing ceases to be. I reserve it for those cases when shit gets really off hand. :p Good thing I never seen those kinds of cases.

It exists in a state of limbo between trolltech and serioustech. I don't ever plan to use it. But if I have to...well. Also, the timeline of my canon is pretty disparate. I'm always adjusting.

I have proof of the power of the black hole collision. It was observed in the real world.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=366_xfP_PtI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IdVyArDlZ4

The videos are extremely short, only 2 and 1 minute respectively. So check 'em out.

All you need are two black holes and for them to collide to do it. Very feasible.

I mean, you guys read my factbook before applying right? It says right there "1x Black hole cannon." on the Dark Affinity Dreadnought.

I mean, I'll change it to just one black hole if you want. But I see nothing wrong with using your weapons in a creative way, like using a black hole cannon to fire one black hole at a certain speed, and using it again to fire another black hole at a higher speed so they catch up at a calculated point, taking the gravity of the two objects into account. And this may be a small-scale conflict, but I don't think its strategic importance and the power of the units in battle should be understated either. I don't think the tactical side of the RP is being considered very much here.

I...

If people aren't going to treat their tech levels seriously then I don't know what my faction could add to this IC'ly. Believe it or not, I actually play the VCMR as fully serious. Like, they set about here to do small-scale interference, and if they detect these sorts of weapons going off, they're going to escalate to prevent viral-type entities from expanding further, and nobody's going to like that. This might not be the place to bring them, in all honesty.

If this is supposed to be a joke RP where everyone is pulling out their full multiversal-tier arsenals, then... maybe this could have been labeled as such? But... the way it is now, there's just no gravitas to writing "'okay,' the commander said, 'fire our universe-melting weapons'".

Luminumbra: Ah. I misinterpreted, due to the consistent confusion of energy and power/luminosity (remember, power/luminosity are energy divided by time!). The thing is, though, how you fit a multi-stellar-mass black hole onto a ship is still a mystery, and the usual assumption I make is that ship-scale black hole weapons are small, say, the mass of a small planetoid or so.

It's... still concerning, though, and especially with the OOC taunting on both sides and the small degree of joking mixed with actual ideas, I don't know whether this is the right place to have the sort of impact I planned for.

Edit:

Yeah. Actually, it'd be better for all of us if I didn't get involved. Either the small force I sent would get instantly and totally overwhelmed and be unable to accomplish anything whatsoever (in which case it'd be better if I didn't join), or the VCMR would act according to how they would in my canon and start containment operations on what are obviously full-scale rival civilizations (in which case we'd all regret me joining).

I'll bow out. Apologies to anyone who was expecting stuff from my end. This is... largely my fault, I'll admit, and I'm sorry for being a bit dramatic about it.

See you all around, maybe in a more outlined RP later, maybe not. o7

We don't fit the black hole onto the ship. We use a very large particle accelerator to make a stable black hole and then like a hot potato eject the black hole at a high speed.

If you want, I can change it so no black hole cannon was fired.

Don't worry. I was only joking, I hope you didn't actually believe we were going to pull out universe melters or the like. This RP is by all intents and purposes serious. The OOC taunting was good fun and nothing further.

Yeah dude. And I'll change it so no black hole was fired if it really concerns you that much. The OOC was really just good fun. I was literally going to put a spoiler with a giant picture of Jim Jones (I have a dark sense of humor) to show how "we aren't afraid to die!"

The IC is completely serious.

EDIT: Looks like the Empire just got the support it needed, there will be no general retreat for now. No black hole cannons will be fired, but the fleet will stay in the combat zone as new imperial forces arrive.

If we want to spice some stuff up I might have some magical things, or I could introduce my future-tech factions of the Seraphim & maybe Commander Caliburn, although they wouldn't be terribly interested in the war. Caliburn is busy fighting for his life against them, while the Seraphim wouldn't be terribly interested, although I could have a squad of Ahwassas crash land into someone's ships or have Caliburn miss a teleportation & mistakenly transport one of his shells in.

I'd wager mine might be worse, although it depends heavily on which of my characters is using the magic, varying between the "Một hai dead" of a deity (who I would never have fight anyone else, in the interest of it being fair), the "this isn't even combat" of Ross & the shadow, & of course the overly dramatic flourishes & spells of several of my other characters. Course, I do often like to paint myself as bad, so my opinion on my magic is a few ways biased. The potentially unfair characters & concepts, though, are reserved primarily for interactions with myself, or have a glaring weakness when against others, like Mac's bad personality (he also doesn't fight much, & would actively run away from any combat with other players) & Ba'rula's utterly chaotic nature despite his powerful spells.

In fact, I've recently introduced balancing for my portals & my previously-unbreakable Evening metal. The former now have to factor in a "threat level" when being summoned, with the higher threat level or even an unknown one forcing portals to cost exorbitant amounts of magical power. The latter now only persists — it'll absorb a good amount of damage without regard to the thickness of the metal or even any nearby Evening, but the rest of the damage that it failed to absorb will go through & damage anything inside. For example, if you coated a computer PC in evening & placed another shell of Evening around it, & fired a bullet at the PC, then the bullet would still hit with some decrease in damage regardless of the distance between the shell & the computer. A big ol' vessel of Evening would therefore be useless, as it would end up permitting weakened shots to phase through it, & it would also be ridiculously pricey.

A knowledgeable enemy could remove such a ship from the battlefield by simply driving their own into it, thereby crushing any crew members. What about the vessel's weaponry? Well, Evening isn't great for conducting magic or electricity anyway, so any guns on a full Evening vessel would be pathetic. The crew, meanwhile, probably wouldn't be able to take on such a large vessel, even with someone like a Psytrine Domeses Arsum. Evening would function even worse against antimatter as it persists due to a sort of self preservation spirit, so against antimatter, the material would briefly fade out of existence & let the shot move through it into something not covered in Evening with no reduction in its effectiveness, like the atmosphere inside a vessel of Evening, in order to avoid being converted into energy. If everyone (including AI or other artificial beings) inside were to be killed, then the ship would break apart as nobody would be consciously wanting the ship to exist anymore as they're not alive to will it.

On the offensive side of things, there are some options. In Psytronius, for example, they have their assortment of Domeses — artificially-made individuals made for a specific purpose — like the Domeses for the city's transportation & the Domeses for time. The former can move an opponent fast enough to get them deleted from existence (but only in the universe of Psytronius, as there their overly fast movement transports them outside the world's boundary & results in their deletion) or at least cause injuries, while the latter can reverse or fast forward time in a small area for a few seconds to summon something from the past or future, like a small piece of a star or maybe a black hole, although that might have some side effects I'm not aware of. Alternatively, he can age something fast enough to damage it. Recovering magic from a missed offensive ability is not something that will be allowed... unless you're Mac, god of the mind. But again, he's meant more for tomfoolery with others, not combat with others.

But if you asked me, I would say that leading magical knowledge should be considered a replacement for leading scientific knowledge rather than a way to completely circumvent rules. It should have its own set of laws. As pointed out by The Terran Concordium, clear explanations will be helpful for magic, but it's essential for anything. The better you can explain something, the more apparent its strengths & weaknesses can be. If I did enter the roleplay with magic, it would beg the question of how, though. Parfuhmerie isn't warlike, & they'd leave instead of fight if their trade routes were attacked.

Just your average edgy weeb writing about accidental exaggerated fantasy-tech version of America who really thinks they need to get less ridiculous.
Fantasy-tech & right-before-steam-machines tech nation populated by Demons from Heroes of Might & Magic V that got too much chaos. Now they can form a high functioning civilization!
If you compliment/thanked me, assume I've thanked you/said you're welcome but didn't write it out (feels like a waste of time for you to check your thread for something like that)

Caliburn is busy fighting for his life against them, while the Seraphim wouldn't be terribly interested, although I could have a squad of Ahwassas crash land into someone's ships or have Caliburn miss a teleportation & mistakenly transport one of his shells in.

Magic would be cool. would give me a chance to see how its done.

Sorry for the late reply, to answer your query Luminumbra, the Insidious Desire is tucked inside an arrow head formation of the other four dreadnoughts, so it really is only exposed from about a 90 degree angle from the rear, plus there are a bunch of cruisers that fanned out to the side, so it would be rather difficult to hit it from the side.

Sorry for the late response guys...I had some next level sh*t pop into my life. You know how there's those movies where the protagonist loses everything (his job, wife etc.) in one day? I had something similar to that happen to me recently, so it's been rough. It's already getting a little better though (hopefully) but I'm very tired. I will be putting up a response to Aeiouie's attack (did I get the name right?) tomorrow. Thanks again.
A 6.3 civilization, according to this index.
Magiscience/FanT/FT
Theme/Aesthetic: Think of Theatre Masks, jewelry and cult-like robes, and make a sci-fi country out of it.
Government: Think democratically elected pope, except it's an unorthodox cult.
People: Traditional, Reserved, Soft-speakers.
Elites: Fine wines, wax candles, hallways of gold, violet, ruby, emerald. Parties inspired by the Greek God Dionysus. A conservative, elegant, mardi gras all day, every day.
Common Folk: A contrast to the above--Dark, medieval style alleys. Small, cold, metallic apartments, prone to collapse on terrestrial worlds, or platforms prone to falling to the depths on jovian ones.

Do not worry about responding, at least until that IRL stuff is dealt with. It is cool, I can wait and that is more important.
A nation of rather dim-witted giant space krakens with bizarre technologies (And problems with alcohol addiction)
Also, everything pre-2017 is non-canon to this nation. It has been completely re-written since then.
