Hello, I love trading cards (especially legendary and cheap ones!) and I really wish I had my own card. When I went to check out my card, I figured I had joined NS long after the cards were manufactured. I also noticed that after 2018 there was also a season for 2019! I was wondering if they were going to start a season 3 (Cards for 2020), because I really want my own card. If you know or you think you know, please respond to my post.

This probably isn’t possible, but it would certainly be fun if they did have some way of generating cards of nations important in NS in-game history who ceased to exist before cards were created, as a way of creating a new historic rarity that would be not only hard to find but also have a certain amount of intrinsic value for people who remember the player. (This could include: founders, delegates, historic UN or WA resolution authors, moderators, etc, who CTEd a very long time ago and are unlikely to ever come back, or even “memorial cards” for people who passed away in real life.)

NS is nothing if not a game without history after all, and one that goes back a very long time. And the nationdata for some of these accounts probably still exists in a database somewhere, although I have no idea if it would be possible to take a snapshot of it in the same way it’s possible for active nations.

I agree with all of this. It will certainly be fun and beneficial to have a "special category" (better if it's above "legendary"). Like you said, the great thing about NS is the abundance of rich history it has and I don't think NS currently has a good avenue for telling that history most especially to new players. Heck, IIRC, I've been playing this game for almost 5-6 years and only in this past 6 months that I've discovered that NS has so much things to offer other than answering issues.

Imagine if a new player got a FRANCOS SPAIN mythic card --- in it is a description that tells what this Legendary player did back then. It will not only caught the attention of that player but there is also a very high chance that this player might interact with the community early on.

How about instead of pondering about when season 3 is gonna get released, we talk about potentially new stuffs (like new legendary cards and the like) when it's released?

I'll start with mine first. When season 3 comes, I'll keep my eye on that NVI cards (since it's a guaranteed legendary next season, if he doesn't retire in that timeframe that is) and add it to my collection. Written descriptions on the card itself are probably beyond the realm of possibility, but even just the nation data as it existed at the time of CTE would be worthwhile—if that data still exists and is accessible, of course. (I assume it must be, since such names are reserved in the boneyard.) A list of potential such “mythic” or “extra-legendary” or whatever cards could be curated based on suggestions from various onsite communities, since importance to NS history is such a subjective criterion (for example there are plenty of notable past RPers who a gameplayer wouldn’t know or care about, and vice versa).

Of course I might just be saying this because I’m old as shit lol. The idea may indeed be somewhat alienating to newer players, since a lot of people don’t necessarily want to catch up on 20 years of in-game history.

Speaking from my experience, vast majority of new players will likely cease to exist after just several months (me included when I first discovered NS). A lot of them will probably get bored just answering issues and just abandon the game altogether without ever knowing or appreciating the interesting history that surrounds NS. This could at least lessen that gap because I do think NS isn't conducive yet for Newbie players to explore other areas. A lot of times, just like me, it will take them years to break out from their shell.

Regardless of how much you spoon-feed a player with information, in the end it's up to their aptitude. Don’t get me wrong, I still like the idea and it would be fun to see it in game—and the most rare/valuable cards might actually mean something in terms of game history, rather than being random ex-nation cards that someone decided to inflate—but yeah, I don’t think it’s very likely, especially given the subjective aspect involved in determining exactly which historic nations would be included. (There would be inevitable arguments over “why was player X not significant enough to have a special card?” or “why was player Y included even though they were deleted for rules violations?” etc, which I doubt the moderators would wish to moderate.)

There are some “changes” going on relating to cards to fix many issues and NS as a whole is dealing with a tech inclined mod search so I imagine while s3 will be on the back burner when it comes there will be a number of changes to make cards better included with it.

Everything in regards to a potential third season is pure speculation unless confirmed by admin. Anything previously noted to have been said by admin cannot be guaranteed.

So what does it entail to release another season? I assume it's less that doing so is that time-consuming than it is that they are concerned about the site being overwhelmed if another season drops, or they want to fix problems with the card side of things before compounding them by adding more cards out there.

As far as I know of, there many major projects on the platter: Gameside Strongholds and Frontiers, Season 3 Cards, and the future of HTML scripts just to name a few, and these does not include projects happening behind the scenes.
