There's not really a way to 'avoid' a trader when all auctions are public. It depends on what type of cards you collect, and what traders have some overlap with you on what they collect. Then, you could try buying cards when they're not playing NS or something.

Also, not really a fan of this thread, sounds like it would end in people throwing baseless accusations against others.

I agree with Gio that pointing out "traders to avoid" is a bad idea. Everyone will have their opinions and most will have their own list of people they don't like.

Without pointing fingers or naming people, here are some of the things you should watch out for, as a beginner:
  • MV manipulation. Market Value is calculated based on the last 10 trades. Some people will try to sell you "high MV cards". Usually, those are either old transfer cards, or cards that those people have inflated themselves. As soon as the last 10 sales are no longer the high-value ones, the card will plummet in MV. Watch out for that when buying "high MV cards". It's usually much easier and safer to inflate some cards by yourself. Buying high MV cards is not worth it in 90% of cases.
  • Below JV bids. Some people will place bids below the Junk Value of a card. By selling it, you're getting "robbed" of the difference between the bid and the JV.
ex. matching a 0.18 bid on an ultra-rare means you'll sell the card for 0.18, but you could've gotten 0.20 from junking it instead!
  • Penny bidding, sniping... I will point to DGES' excellent guide instead of explaining this myself :P

In general, you'll build up a knowledge/personal list of who/what times to avoid based on the cards/themes/goals you'll be pursuing. There's no use in having global a list of traders to avoid – that's just toxic.

Good luck!

Penny-bidding is absolutely acceptable; and don't let anyone make you feel like it isn't.

I'm a convicted cookie-stealer who will relentlessly try to rob you of any cards related to the confection

Example, NK lies and says they are democratic and are not, the US lies and says we are free yet we incarcerate millions for a medical plant. See we are basically a larger more populated North Korea.
