how do you play cards generally ?

Postby Fauzjhia » Fri Apr 10, 2020 10:13 am

personnally. i play the game in a very low way, i tend to only bid on my own cards, very rarely collecting someone's else cards. And i tend to sell cards for what ever price people can offer me on those cards. as long as it is above junk value. I leave other player alone, in hope that they will me buy my own cards in peace.

But i note there are some evil players, players are asking twice market value for my cards or more, yet sell other for junk value. And some who ask for a ridiculous ammount of bank repeatly, like I am some bank generating machine.

players who intercept and take away my transfer cards. Like i was some big shot of the card farming world.

player who prevent others from buying (high-value cards), so they can sell it for the high price and get full bank for themselves.

I play preventative. Just yesterday, I bid 0.51 on some epics (because I was mad at players using 0.50 ) and got 2 legendaries from my puppets.

What exactly are you preventing here? Epics are worth .50, there's nothing wrong with selling at junk value.

I guess, he/she meant the 0.50 buying bid...or sometimes even less; which is legal though, but rather annoying, as almost everyone wants to sell at a little profit. As Fris wrote sometimes before, people (especially those which can afford) should at least show this little piece of respect and bid 0.01 or 0.02 above junk value.

Heresy!

At some point I swear I'll write a peer-reviewed thesis on how the market's general unwillingness to pay more than junk value on any non-legendary card destroys a lot of the game's potential.

As for the original question, I used to be really keen on legendaries and cards with high market value (even if they were overpriced). And of course, legs and dv are great, but what made the game a lot more fun for me was having a personalized goal. (First collecting cards of NS World Cup winners, then cards with animated flags.) It's a big mental shift, and relapse sometimes, but it helps me to be less stingy, take the game less seriously, and have a motivation other than just climbing up the leaderboard. I don't really care about collecting my puppets' cards (probably because I don't really have any puppets I care about).

My main focus is on answering issues. Needing to read slows down my farming a lot. On this nation I only care about staying within the top 1% to keep a gold badge. Otherwise as Recuecn says I collect or gift away cards based on some personalised goal.

I play it normally. Put the most low-worth and high-worth(for its rarity) cards up for sale automatically, take good offers, sell low-value cards to make room for new etc.

I collect my own card. I collect the cards for people in my region to trade for my own card. I junk everything else unless there is a current bid higher than the junk price. The cap on deck size is too punishing to really do anything else.

If you don't already know this, the deck cap is not a hard cap - it only prevents gifting.

For example, I've stored one of my collections on a puppet with a deck cap of 100, though I have 1400 cards on it https://www.nationstates.net/page=deck/ ... rd_archive

I don't do that, I only junk cards that are:

Bids < JV

I don't have a puppet. I do not understand this.

I just know I can't open new card packs when I do not have five open spaces.

Legally no. But from an "business" point of view if you can quickly get rid of something for the same price that someone wants to buy it then personally I'd consider that to be someone trying to con me which is why if someone bids at junk value I will junk it rather than sell as if someone can't be bothered to make the effort to at least increase it by 0.01 then they don't deserve the card.

I like to collect my own (personalized) puppies too.

I try to keep them at a relatively high market value, so if someone wants to "steal" it from me and resell to me for a higher value; I can just say no and they will hold that card forever while they invested in it a nice amount of bank already. And since they'll try to (re)sell that card for even higher price than it already had; noone will buy it, but me if i decide. Well, in some cases someone bought it from them, but it just makes the market value of my pups even higher, which i like^

About the "Frisbeeteria-problem" which everyone seems to make a fuss about;
I think it has a good side too, since many lowballers (bidding way below junk value) have no chance now profiting from epics.
With this way, that epics always has a 0.5 buying order they have no chance to get them for 0.3 or even less, which a lot of time happened in S1

What is the "Frisbeeteria-problem"?

I intentionally provide a "floor" and sometimes a "ceiling" for Epics. The floor is 0.50 (JV) and the ceiling is typically 1.00. Lots of people posts Asks at 0.50, and during the hour of auction time other players will raise their Bids. The seller is guaranteed at least JV for their Epic and may get more than that. I'm amazed that anyone would have a problem with these low bids, as there is only potential benefit for sellers as well as buyers. The worst outcome for someone matching a bid would be to get JV. If someone asks something dumb like 0.01, I'm not going to worry about their stupidity in asking below JV. I provide an instant market for every Epic. If you want more, feel free to Ask for more.

As for my "ceiling" price of 1.00, I consider that "impatience tax". If you want a card and only I have a card, you can put in a bid for anything over JV and eventually win an auction, or you can pay my price now and get it immediately. Again, I'm not seeing how that does anything bad for any collector. You can always under-bid my prices and hope someone matches soon. I may reduce my Ask during the auction, but that's just how auctions work

Yes, I understand this, and I wanted to say the same thing.

I mean about the "Frisbeeteria-problem" that, many people don't understand it, and being angry at your 0.5 bids^

I just open packs when I get them, junk the cards I don't want, and sell anything that has a bid above Market Value. The exception is that I keep the types of cards I'm specifically trying to collect.

I have a goal to collect all or most of the #1 World Census cards with my puppet A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far Far Away, and currently I have 21 of them. It's moving along pretty slowly though, as I scarcely have time for intensive card farming.

I'm also keeping all of my Epic cards because I'm going to give away 7 of them for the NationStates Flag Bracket and I'd like to have some left over.

That's a cool goal. If you place .01 marker bids on the all cards you need, I'll send them your way whenever I happen to pull them and see bids from that puppet, assuming they aren't legendary cards.

I junk common cards and try to sell the other cards at the highest bid price (if there is one).

Other than that I put them on the market at 0.01 and let them sit until someone buys em.
