A positive way of looking at things is that if S2 were released tomorrow, there would be 156 legends (potentially 156 + staff, if that's how it works). The reduced number of total nations that come with the summer mean that most of the S1 legends would come back as S2 legends except for a handful of nations who CTEd or whose circumstance changed (possible Siwale will be an epic without the largest region's delegacy, for example). Releasing the season when the number of nations is higher, which it would be in December, would make for a S2 that's a bit more interesting.

I haven't looked nor know where I would look to see if nation counts swell at any time in the year is December typically a peak for them?

A few minutes on Wayback Machine seems to show a higher number of nations between December and March with a significant variance. Either way, it would be higher than doing it now.

What is the rationale for wanting more cards in a set (the next being Season 2) ? What makes it more interesting?

I personally hope it comes later rather than sooner as I am still working on my current collection and it would be horrible to suddenly have to buy several hundred more cards (not including same nations).

Because even though the cards came out in April, it was just a short flurry of activity, after which it more or less stagnated until the Dec relaunch. So, from that timeline, it's been less than 6 months ;)

I hope not. A lot of people(myself included) change our nation's flags to more festive version during that time. I don't want that caught up in the cards again.

I would consider seeing all the same legends with only five additions to not be as interesting as potential squeezing out twenty new ones. Similarly, if some 20,000 nations form between now and then, whatever communities they create and regions they found miss out on a card to collect and trade between themselves.
Some parts of the year are more prudent than others ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's nice to have cards for people who are new as 3/4 of the card population has CTEd (see when I made the master list and counted true ex nation's) it would be nice to see fresh faces as I see the same people trading cards 90% of the time and I wonder if that becuase they don't have cards for themself or if they just are more active traders.

Personally I want s2 so I don't have an awful flag on my card XD a warning window would be super nice for people who don't want to fly their cars flag for months on end waiting for s2

That's an excellent point. We've been in Season 1 territory for over a year now. Let's refresh the card set, and bring new life to the feature.

I'm a bit angry about Season 1 because it was created just after my first nation ceased to exist and long before my current one started existing. Sort of annoying because I want to be in there.

I have a feeling that trading card Seasons are released annually. I’m hoping the next one to be in Christmas 2019, perhaps it’ll be an annual Christmas gift.

I sincerely hope we don't have to wait until Christmas. If so, then the cards we have in "Season One" will have been "active" for nearly two years (having been generated in April 2018). I understand that Max and the tech team are likely busy, but it's time to get a fresh release of cards -- especially for those who do not have any cards in this current April 2018 batch.

Make the card seasons a summer release tradition. This seems like a perfect time for something game-related every year -- between the fun of the usual short-term April Fool's Day feature, and the Zombie hoards of Halloween. Most people are usually pretty busy around Christmas, and as was previously noted in cards discussion, a number of players like to change their nation flags to reflect Christmas, and would rather not have those Christmas images become their year-long trading card images (if seasons are released in December).

I vote for a summer release. I was hoping for July 1. July 1 is a nice central yearly date.

Arguably, they haven't been active for the entirety of that time. While the card issue was set in April, the feature has only been running from mid December (plus a few days from before). Despite the amount of time passed from when the idea was first implemented, starting S2 now technically results in a short season.

Ideally, the release date should be set with the next X years in mind to capitalise activity from people going back to school and returning from holiday, plus or minus a few weeks to add a bit of surprise to the exact snapshot point.

The card game is really active from 2018 December.

Also most people are usually busy around summertime too (based on how many nationts CTE'd since Mayo - it would be really bad for the cardbase)

And the staff could announce (for example) in November 1st that the new season will happen in December 6th (for example) and everyone could have time to fix everything for their perfect card.
It would be also a really nice Christmas gift. At summer it would just steal time from quality (real life) experiences, social connections and holidays.

Technically, yes. But players had those days/weeks in April 2018 to start their collections, and, in some cases, amass a great deal of bank. So, even if the text of the cards were updated at the end of December, the game has, arguably been more than valid all the way back to April 2018. Just because there was an 8-month hiatus while the mechanics were being retooled, doesn't mean the trading in April doesn't count. Cards earned and owned in April remained with all players through to the reopening in December, so December merely picked up where April left off.

December is not when trading started. That is just when the cards were given a season designation.

But if this was repeated, then all the card would be christmas themed, which may be annoying to people who want to collect their normal flag on a card but also enjoy making their flags more season related when holidays come along.

People who care enough to change their flags to certain themes would care enough to read the Game MOD's message that on ONE day their cards will be made, so for that ONE day they should prepare it^
And I'm pretty sure most of the users wont change their flags just because its Christmas time.
