Card Value - What does it mean?

Postby Galiantus III » Thu Jan 03, 2019 6:44 pm

I'm going to answer a question a lot of you probably had about the cards: How do I know a card's value?

I initially assumed it was just the average of all the sales that had ever taken place, but then I noticed that it was possible for a card's value to fall after being bought at a price above its listed value. So I thought it was potentially more complex. After some investigation, I have discovered that a card's value is simple as an average, but it is not an average of all transactions.

A card's value is the average of the last 10 transactions, not including gifting.

Thus, if you buy a card for more than was paid 10 transactions ago, its value will increase, and if you buy a card for less than was paid 10 transactions ago, its value will decrease.

For those of you who are curious, this means that, at the time of posting, this card's value will be somewhere around 50 bank in six more transactions, and this card's value should fall below 5.00 bank in seven more transactions.

It is worth noting that the listed values are rounded so they look nicer. At 1.00 and below, things are rounded within 0.01, up to 5.00 things are rounded to the nearest 0.05, and it appears that up to 50.00 things are rounded to the nearest 0.50. After that everything is simply rounded to the nearest 1.00.
