Overpriced cards

Postby Blargoblarg » Wed Dec 26, 2018 6:04 pm

I've been looking through the cards on this page here, and I can't believe the ridiculous amounts some people are asking for certain cards. Even if I could afford it I wouldn't buy an uncommon for 999. Or an ultra-rare for 500. I certainly wouldn't pay 20 for a common. And who the hell is gonna be able to afford to pay 9999.98 for this card even if it is a legendary? Are any of these people actually expecting someone to buy cards for those amounts? I think some people are asking for insanely high amounts for cards that aren't worth nearly that much.

I asked for 10,000 on Menta Lee-Il for the shits and giggles

He's my regional leader so I don't wanna sell his card. Originally had 7 or 8 but gave some away to region-mates. Other than that, I'm keeping all 5 I still have

They're mostly jokes. If you look at the first one you posted, the seller is the card featured...

The only one that might be real is The World Cup -- perhaps hoping for a rabid sports fan..?

I hope they're joke asks, because it'd be pretty ridiculous if they actually expect to get that much for those cards.

I've seen some pretty crazy sales for cards, and I would think that the new auction system might make this worse.

some people are selling to themselves for as high as they can afford. Usually with their self-cards, of wich they own a whole bunch. Doing so increases the estimated value towards the ridiculous price, and so increases their deck-value by a lot. Just look at the topranked players by deck value..

Could be just a way to transfer bank from one nation to another.

I, for example, have several puppets but can't really be bothered to trade cards with all of them - I prefer doing so through my main nation. Selling a card for a high enough price is a good way to obtain that puppet's bank.

This nation does not reflect my RL views.

I got a uncommon card from my puppets that was worth 200.00, Alethes Sophia. It's so crazy what selling and buying cards at different prices can do to the value of a card.

There are, indeed, some cards that lots of people want, but are not legendary or epic. The reason those cards are worth so much more than their junk value is there aren't enough of them to go around to all the people who want them, so it becomes a matter of who can pay more. Ask prices can be a bit ridiculous because that is a case of someone saying "I'll part with the card for 9,999.98", not that they are trying to sell it, necessarily. It's a statement of how much they personally value the card.
