Oh wow! Seeing that 'new pack' icon was more exciting than Christmas morning.

Massive thanks to [violet] and anyone else who worked on this update. The trading cards were a blast when they came out, and it's phenomenal to see them returning for the long run, especially with such quality of life features as 'collections' and this consolidated buy/sell screen. I look forward to cracking open some new packs... as soon as I'm done clearing space for them lol.

Which brings me to a question; if our card inventory's at/over its limit and we can't open new packs, will we be able to build a backlog of them until we've made room, or can we only have the one new pack waiting at a time?

EDIT: scratch that, the standard card screen wasn't showing it, but some sub-screens (like specific cards and auction) says 'you have # unopened packs,' so it looks like the former.

I've answered a bunch of issues already since cards were added back into the game, and I didn't get any packs?!

Aye, i'm experiencing this a little bit too. I've gotten 2 packs in 10+ Issues. I'm not complaining, but perhaps the rate of deck-spawn should be increased a little bit. 40%-50% would be nice.

Finite Card Storage Space= Unfair

Postby Australian rePublic » Sat Dec 22, 2018 10:21 pm

Why is there a finite number of cards one can own? That's dumb. ESPECIALLY considering that we didn't know that that would happen from the beginning. I mean, I can't afford any more storage space, because I spent all of my points, by coincidence. Similarly, someone who has enough points, by coincidence, can buy more storage space now. So I can't buy more storage space because I didn't horde points. This is despite the fact that I had no idea that I was supposed to horde points. That doesn't seem fair. At least if I had known from the beginning, I would have stored more currency, but now I spent all of my currency. I also make it a point to never sell any of my non-duplicate cards, unless necasserry, so, I therefore would have purchased less knowing that my deck would eventually be limited

Just a quick musing on when season two is going to be coming out- I'd say no earlier then New Years, and no later then April Fools day. That's still a third of a year, true, but those seem like reasonable bounds to me.

I'll keep an eye on the drop rates. Two packs in 10 issues is to be expected from the current configuration. It's not supposed to be like April Fools where everyone's earning lots of cards all the time... that's not really sustainable over a long period.

There isn't, but it becomes exponentially expensive. The main reason for that is it presents server load issues when nations have very large decks. There are several parts of this feature that perform real-time calculations, which get slower when they have to process more data.

During the week of the April event, two dozen nations accumulated decks of 1,000 cards or more. Minoa had 4,500 cards. For a permanent feature, it seems fair to imagine that nations would just keep pushing those numbers higher. Hence a limit.

It's also useful to have some kind of sink to help counteract the inflationary effect of a constant inflow of value provided by new packs.

I don't really get this part. Presumably you spent it on cards, but those still have value, so you can sell them again.

Um... since people seem to be suggesting things in this thread, I'll post my suggestion here instead of in the Technical forum, if that's alright. Can there be an option for the Top Decks list to rank decks by junk value instead of estimated market value?

Thank you admins for bringing the cards back, by the way.

Question:

In the NEWS dispatch thing, the fact that cards are retrieved from issues is listed under Issues. Is this simply categorizing Issues under its own header, or is this like patch notes for many games where they list known issues after the update? I am only getting one pack per 7 ish issues, that seems like a lot. Is that the problem or am I overthinking this?

I posted here on this topic already, but since it appears that this is the place for suggestions and commentary on NS Cards, would rate limited Direct Sales be a possibility for NS cards in the future?

That is slightly unlucky but not terribly so... you are more likely than not to get one pack from 5 issues.

The drop rate of cards will be reviewed over time, but the idea is to have something slower that remains interesting over time, rather than a one-week frenzy as during April Fools.

Yea, that's fair, but it would have been nice to know about it beforehand

YEA, but my point is that I SHOULDN'T have to. There is no info telling anyone that there is a deck limit, how close they are to the deck limit, or even what the deck limit is. That doesn't seem fair to me. I don't like selling cards, (except duplicates). Had I known about the deck limit, I wouldn't have purchased as many, and I'm sure that there are many others in the same position as me. It's not too late to fix the system, however. You can start adding info about deck limits on the main cards page, and perhaps provide all existing players with a one time, once off free upgrade

Can you get cards every 5-10 issues if you dismiss them too?

But the game was a one off. It was successful, people wanted it to become permanent, and then it took them 8 months to figure out how to implement that based on what they learned the first time around. So there was no way for them to predict the future, predict that it would become permanent, predict what issues they would run into such as with the deck sizes and the server load, and predict what they would need to change to make the game sustainable over time.

It shows info about the deck limit the moment you hit a limit. So at this point, you can't buy too many cards without being informed about the limit. You got a one time free upgrade from a deck limit of "0" to a deck limit of "50". The next upgrade costs 1 bank. Then more and more from there
