NS Cards: Permanent Feature Update

Z-Day has passed, and STILL no cards. I'm getting a feeling that the mods either waste their time making the cards a feature or threw out the idea altogether, neither of which is pleasant for fans of cards.

The mods have nothing to do with game code. That's the admins. We have two active, [violet] and Eluvatar. Both are busy IRL. Keeping their families fed and roofs over their heads takes priority over volunteer work on a free web game.

[violet] was working on the code and ran into problems that were not easily solved. An ongoing game is very different from a one-off snapshot game. She hasn't had time to address it.

All of these points have been made numerous times in this thread. It's frustrating to have the same complaints show up from people who can't be bothered to read back a page or three. I'm ready to dump this entire forum into the Archives until / unless [v] finds enough time to delve into the issues. I can state with certainty that I'm not going to pressure her to rush the feature out just to satisfy a few malcontent players.

I agree with you, Fris on that last point of yours: when we get an announcement from [violet] regarding cards, the matter can be reopened. But until then, it's probably best to archive it.

I'm very sorry about the delay on this! Real life intervened. Cards will definitely be returning.

Yep. If you have a Testlandia card and Testlandia ceases to exist, you'll still have the card.

On the other hand, if you have a Testlandia card and YOU cease to exist, then your deck will be destroyed at some point.

I could see this being an annual thing, however, it couldn't possibly replace April Fools here at NS. It wouldn't make much sense to include it alongside an April Fools event, but having it come back permanently wouldn't work in the long run (unless I'm underestimating it).

Anyone else have specific time span ideas? I can only think of other holidays without events, although the NS anniversary seems more appropriate.

Well, that will make a LOT of cards rarer.
For players quitting Nationstates, this can cause a liquidation sale of sorts: all of their cards are sold until they leave.

So maybe 5 years can work, as that's the time before a nation's name can be reused.
