I actually quit NS back in January. I just came back three times to keep my nation alive since I havn't decided if I want it to die yet. This happened because I got bored of just answering questions everyday that repeated 15 times. This feature is greatly needed!

Yes, keep them - but with two changes:

1. Once obtained a card is "fixed" - if the nation changes its flag, region, status to ex-nation or whatever the card stays the same.
That way you can also release different versions of the same nation.

2. Ban puppettrading :P

Yeah, seriously. You could just call it "buying government debt" or "buying government bonds." The trade factor is completely reasonable, and it would explain the difference between card rarities.
I use my NationStates stats, because a population of billions/trillions and an economy of hundreds of trillions is totally viable, trust me.
But seriously, aside from the population and GDP, just assume that my NS stats are roughly accurate.

Support: Paleo-imperialism, conservatism, libertarianism, Christianity.
Against: Stupid people, resistance to industrial progress, alt-right, any form of government at or beyond socialism.

The way the game is now is too much of a drain on the system. Good for a week, and periodically, but in its current state, is not something that I feel should continue.

I say in its current state, because I think the game has potential, but the trade market is an absolute snoozefest because people are selling cards way too cheaply. (a penny above junk for an epic? why?) Improve the trade market, so there's an incentive to trade, other then a couple pennies.

Also "epic" cards need to truly be rare, and common cards need to truly be common. Right now they are just words with no real base on how rare or common that they really are in the game. For example, late last night, I became the first find on a common, while my two epics at the time had 10 and 11 finds. That should be the other way around. That "common" based on how things are distributed, is really epic. The game is interesting, but needs improvement. If no improvements are made, then I vote to not retain the game.

I've seen it, but the thing to remember is that having a bunch of nations say they want something is not actually helpful at all. Posting here with a number next to your name isn't constructive, what is constructive is telling us how you want the game to look going forward, what features can be changed, what challenges the card game will face and how to address those challenges, etc. "We like this" is all well and good, but if it isn't sustainable in its present form then that's not actually much for us to work with.

I know this will sound horrible to some people, and maybe the technical issues with this idea would be hard to fix... nevertheless, I can't help myself but to think that cards would be a powerful tool to indicate a nation's "influence" / "soft power", alongside regional influence.
