Preview Your Card's Design (unofficial)

Postby Kractero » Thu Nov 28, 2024 10:33 pm

With season 4 coming around the corner, you may either be curious on what your card would look like or want to prepare your nations ahead of inscription. This userscript will allow you to preview your nation as it currently is in s4's aspect ratio (the actual design is just based off season 1), as well as in season 1, 2, and 3 for historical purposes (or for your pleasure if you did not get a card for those seasons).

The actual design of the s4 card is unknown. It is not known how exactly the flag will be cropped and if parts will be obscured by other elements. However, the height and width should be very similar to the one assumed in this preview.

How to Use

You will need a userscript manager extension like TamperMonkey. After installing it, you can click the userscript url and it should have an install button.

Visit the upload flag page and enter a nation name, or upload a flag, and click preview flag instead of submitting it. The caveat to the latter is that this is pre-compression.

You can also select a rarity to preview the card in. If you want to use the third-party cards rarity calculator, you can input your information here to see what you might be come season 4.

For example, this is what I would see
Image

Technical Stuff
The site loads the deck css stylesheet (6.5kb, uncached), in order to render the cards. When submit/preview flag is hit, the script sends a request to the nation's HTML page (in order to get the flag, and also gets whatever is easy to query select). Links to render images for badges are also pulled. The css sheet and images should be cached after one load if not already cached.

Thanks Kractero! This is a great tool to upload flags that will most likely fit for your S4 cards.

Will we have some time to adjust the cards to the new format?

A week or so. Last time it was 2 days and then suddenly 14 days or so.

I have no problem if it will be up to 28 days, the amount of inactivity which leads normally to the nation's deletion, all I is to be able to plan.

My puppets are very important to me, since I play with them and, a proper card is for me but also the other players far more satisfying.

I think it's the best to have a full month of time to fix the card, and then approve ONLY the cards that was accepted by the owner. In this way there will be just good nations that want to be cards, less puppets, no inactive nations and admins could make another new season in few months.

A month is way too long after the initial announcement, people would die of anticipation, a week is good enough in my opinion.
