(N-DAY 2019) Nuclear War Protocol in YN

Postby Gurori » Wed Sep 25, 2019 4:39 am

How does your nation handle imminent Nuclear War? Do you warn the citizens or do you leave them in the dark?
I suppose they'll be left in the light once the bombs start hitting, though.

In Gurori our Nuclear Protocol is as follows.

First and foremost, all programming on all GBC channels are interrupted by this broadcast.
Image

A similar, pre-recorded message is broadcast across all GBC Radio stations.
"Nuclear War is imminent, please evacuate your home immediately and head to the nearest government-built vault complex. If you are unable to, you may alternatively head to a Fallout Shelter or any construct that is shielded from fallout and ensure that you have the following supplies: A battery-operated radio, food and water that can last for at least six months, one or more first aid kits, one or more gas masks and a Geiger counter. Those who are staying within a vault will have these supplies provided for them. Once you have entered your shelter, do not leave it."

"Await further instructions."

At this point, the Imperial Family and important government figures have been evacuated to a classified location.

Civilians are evacuated to humongous vaults that can withstand nuclear war. They are located under most major cities and are completely self-sufficient, capable of sustaining up to one million people for many years. Due to how huge they are, every vault has it's own rail network to allow inhabitants to feasibly travel across the large distances.

However, Civilians can alternatively evacuate to fallout shelters, or really any construct that can withstand the fallout. You better hope that you have all the right supplies, though.
Gurori is currently being refurbished, please excuse any inconsistencies in the meantime.

Citizens of NW, already living in a nuclear wasteland, don't even need to prepare, but various radio signals are sent through faction and independent radio stations.

With about five fallout shelters, two naval bases with anti-nuke defenses, and a few coastal ships around the Shanghai area carrying up to no more than 50,000 people each, since they are built several floors deep with all of the necessary functions to last about a month. Our only launch site from a very small island in Shengsi not far from the mainland will convert any TNT we produced from our factories into shielding, it should be enough to cover part of the city from direct attack, yet its coverage might not protect the surrounding suburbs. This means only one-fifth of the 20 million Rebelians in the metropolitan area still living in houses will immediately perish from the blasts.

We can expect our contamination levels to exceed no more than 1624 RAD per hour, which would be considered as "very unsafe" if caught off-guard, or with proper timing of using the energy domes, than about 270 RAD per hour from upper atmosphere fallout, putting it under "moderate" status with travel advisories. P.A.R.R.O.T. as the new watchdog group will take over all forms of military command because no single branch of the RARF knows how to deal with such things. We already seen the devastation of one nuclear reactor at Beilan Island but quickly taken care of the radioactive barrels via decontamination after a few skirmishes with Sangvis Ferri weeks prior.

We also have our own atomic clock system from the central hub's side-scrolling sign using long seconds instead of minutes. As of this writing, we have about four long seconds to go. No one as of this moment wants to designate the Rebel Academy as a "ground zero" zone, probably because of our surrounding territory with the PRD, so we will keep our converted energy shields around for a short while.
A Pan-Asian survivalist nation who doesn't need international help when disaster strikes, and is only one nation away before total reunification of the continent.

Latest Ticks: G32 is renamed to G51 after western Asia falls into anarchy. The Academy is attempting to figure out a way of getting Japan into the Rebelian side.

We herd everyone into the secret underground bunkers under stuff like fountains and stuff. They're all connected by rail to bring supplies, those who are caught out in the blast are told to do the civilian pose, this makes people from the future think they're playing fallout 76 (also known as an A-pose, look up tf2 civilian scout for reference).

It all starts simple at first. We have analytic software that's there to predict catastrophic events and when it triggers it sends out this:

================AUTOMATED MESSAGE - DO NOT RESPOND================

Ethradox is projecting an upcoming AW-Class event (Atomic Contingencies, Nuclear Warfare scenario) which will occur in approximately 00:00:00:00 or X Days, X Hours, and XX minutes.

Due to the nature of this event, the nation of New Periapsis is preparing to go into a state of total lockdown in order to more easily and efficiently coordinate the evacuation of all residents to emergency superstructures as per Catastrophic Event Response protocols. In the event regional/global sociopolitical tensions or foreign military readiness escalates, the Catastrophic Event Response Agency will declare a state of emergency, immediately initiating the national lockdown and beginning proactive emergency countermeasure responses. If during this state of emergency any of your nation's citizens are currently residing within the nation of New Periapsis (regardless of having permanent intentions such as immigrating or temporary intentions such as vacationing), no individual will be permitted to leave in the interests of ensuring their health and safety.

At this time, foreign political representatives are not advised to visit the nation of New Periapsis because of the potential scenario of political tensions/strains being caused by a foreign representative being denied any and all forms of transport to their respective country due to safety risks. However, this can be easily mitigated by a written and verbally recorded statement saying that the individual in question has been informed of, understands, and will cooperate in the event a state of emergency is declared.

Status codes have been shifted to the following:
Security: Greentime to Alert
Alert Level: Preparation Status Red
CRAL: Orange

Sometimes that message came through an e-mail. Other times, it was received through text or pop-up message. More often than not though, it was received through multiple means with different formats to more suitably fit the method it was received. Oddly enough, there was never a panic. Only a constant feeling of anticipation or some sense of nostalgia, like when you finally graduate from a school and visit years later or looking around your home for the very last time before you move away. For some, that's exactly what they did. Almost nobody went into denial. How could they? The evidence was surrounding them everywhere they looked. Many responded with skepticism or used it as some form of denial. "Perhaps it's a glitch," they thought. "Maybe something is just giving the predictive warning software false flags. It's happened before long ago in the past."

If, for some horrific reason the software is determined not to be sending out a false alarm and there may even be a reasonable amount of intelligence to support it, everyone receives a second notification message reading:

================AUTOMATED MESSAGE - DO NOT RESPOND================

The Catastrophic Event Response Agency has declared a state of emergency and contingency protocols for an AW-Class scenario are now in effect.

Due to standard evacuation lockdown protocols, the Department of Emergency Management has made emigration from New Periapsis, associated territories, and some diplomatic buildings in other nations prohibited for Periapsis denizens and civilians alike. All inbound traffic will be accepted.

At this time, please make your way to the nearest MUES Facility or any other sufficient shelter.

Status codes have been shifted to the following:
Security: Alert to ACTIVE
Alert Level: Preparation Status Red
CRAL: Red

Within 60 seconds, people that were trained to be evacuation coordinators make themselves known and try to help prevent a chaotic scene from unfolding by calmly organizing everyone into the emergency evacuation procedures they were trained for. Thanks to mandatory emergency training, our citizens should be able to calmly evacuate into an underground superstructure within minutes. After an hour, the streets will have been empty for some time and even the optional supplementary preparation procedures (such as a last minute crop harvest) should be complete.

Upon confirmation of a nuclear weapon launch:

================AUTOMATED MESSAGE - DO NOT RESPOND================

Both Ethradox and the Catastrophic Event Response Agency have now dually confirmed the occurrence of an AW-Class scenario.

At this time, civilian transport aircraft will continue to be permitted into New Periapsis airspace. Passengers of any inbound civilian aircraft upon landing will be provided safe haven from the surrounding global crisis. However, this exception does not extend towards military aircraft which may be shot down if found to be a vector for hostile forces in order to ensure that this island, along with its occupants, will not be harmed by any armed faction. This condition applies to any and all military vehicles regardless of origin. Therefore, any actions which lead to the destruction of a military vehicle is considered an act of self-defense and not an act of war.

Status codes have been shifted to the following:
Security: ACTIVE
Alert Level: Preparation Status Red
CRAL: Rosewood

And finally, there's this notification which would be sent out after at least 5 minutes (the time it takes for a LGM-30 Minuteman ICBM to reach its target):

Seismometers and satellite surveillance have now confirmed multiple nuclear detonations.

Status codes have been shifted to the following:
Security: ACTIVE
Alert Level: Preparation Status Red
CRAL: Black

And with that, the world we knew is dead.

Additionally, if we're able to provide humanitarian during the nuclear exchange by hastily delivering prepackaged supply crates as the fallout rains from the sky and need to stop due to high levels of radioactive contamination, you'll expect to find a message similar to this:

================AUTOMATED MESSAGE - DO NOT RESPOND================

Due to high levels of radioactive contamination caused by multiple nuclear weapons unable to be successfully intercepted before detonation, any and all forms of disaster relief are now unavailable. With the majority of crisis response personnel and MTF support withdrawing, the remaining shipments are continuing to be delivered via unmanned vehicles. However, due to the severity of radiation levels, we can no longer guarantee the safety of using these supplies being delivered because of how radiation is eventually absorbed by vehicles; especially those that are remote controlled. Despite this, we will attempt to continue our efforts until it is no longer viable. It is estimated that within 2-5 completed deliveries this will occur and it will no longer be possible to deliver supplies that are not irradiated.

To anybody still alive out there, regardless of whoever you are or even if you're able to receive this: we hope you have the best of luck surviving in this toxic new era we all as a species have been forced to enter.

We never wanted the world to burn. In fact, we tried to keep it from happening. There are no words in any language to express how we lament over our inability to help. We are sorry we failed.

Status codes have been shifted to the following:
Security: ACTIVE, Internal
Alert Level: Preparation Status Red
CRAL: Grey

The whole thing isn't that big of a deal for Synnians. Of course, the announcement will be broadcasted over mass media but nuclear war is treated more or less the same as conventional war. Brimstone bay is armed with enough interception systems that missiles would have to block out the sky to make a proper hit. If citizens still don't feel safe the lower levels of the Synunder complex are radiation-shielded and self-sustaining.

Hi, it's been a while. If you're seeing this then it means what I'm working on is not quite done yet. You can still read my old stuff but it's probably not canon anymore. I'll try to get something up soon. It may or may not involve wizards.

The DMSG first interrupts all TV broadcasts with recent news of the situation if it seems likely there will be nuclear war, then it shows a countdown with instructions of what to do in this situation and a countdown until the war starts. People are evacuated to nuclear shelters deep underground in the rural areas, after that the entire government/royal family/military command are evacuated to undisclosed locations. The nuclear alarm system then activates so that more people receive what is going on and have time to prepare themselves. All government activity ceases until the war is over. All military forces are put on high alert, mobilising for any potential fighting and preparations of nuclear bombs.

Historically, America has educated it's citizens about surviving a nuclear war through information videos. Originally, we told the kids to hide under their desks if the bomb were to drop during school hours, but now we know that obviously won't work. Most of our citizens have a sort of shelter to hide inside, they range from basements to their own personalized fallout shelters. Though our citizens aren't really prepared for a nuclear war, they have very little to worry about, as most nations like the USSR wouldn't try to nuke us because of the huge amount of nukes we have, we also have a complex anti-missile defense system to prevent the nukes from reaching us in the first place.

TL;DR: Our military has the necessary gear to protect our citizens from a nuclear holocaust.
Hello, as you may know, our nation is the USA but set during the 1980s, we aim to be historically accurate and only us stats that would be appropriate to the time period, but in some cases, we do deviate from this aim just for fun.
In other words, we don't use NS Stats

Kenmoria’s nuclear policy is fragmented and complicated, since there are so many different agencies working simultaneously. The government radio and television channels broadcast automatic messages about the incoming nuclear apocalypse, but given how few people watch those, this is more symbolic than a practical effort. All the companies will want to protect their workers, so most have underground shelters and messages, for varying effectiveness.

At the same time, the Kenmoria WA Mission will release nuclear strikes on the aggressor, in order to draw the bombs away from the main nation.

Kenmoria is an illiberal yet democratic nation pursuing the goals of communism in a semi-effective fashion. It has a very broad diplomatic presence despite being economically developing, mainly to seek help in recovering from the effect of a recent civil war. Read the factbook here for more information; perhaps, I will eventually finish it.
