N-Day 3 coverage on NSindex

Postby Minoa » Mon Sep 24, 2018 4:27 am

Here we go again:* https://nsindex.net/wiki/3rd_Nuclear_Apocalypse

NSindex is looking for volunteers to cover the 3rd Nuclear Apocalypse in 2018 in great detail. This invitation has been created due to the ongoing time issues that have plagued Minoa in the previous year.

Editors should be prepared to cover the apocalypse objectively, professionally and in great detail, without sarcasm or snark. There is no internal politics on NSindex: the only thing that matters is reliable and in-depth content about NationStates.

Editors should be prepared to ask questions about the operation of the mini-game to clear up any potential misunderstandings, such as the effect of the reCAPTCHA changes for players that use a new nation to take the place of a destroyed one (source).

Editors should be prepared to archive NationStates pages frequently via the Web Archive, and then use the archive snapshots to provide citations or references for the information.

All times should be quoted in Central European Summer Time (CEST).

Anyone interested in the project can apply for an account at NSindex.

-- Minoa

* The question of whether the mini-game event is a good or bad thing is beyond my control.

I need to know, do you need to start a new nation if you get 100% radiation or can you continue with the one main nation that you entered the N-day with?

I'm not sure what you're saying, So I'll try to answer it

No, this event only lasts a day so Radiation also only lasts for the event.

or

I believe you can't make anything with %100 Radiation, so yes, I suggest you use multiple puppets

NSindex discovered that in the last Nuclear Apocalypse, four of the five Pacific regions resisted the temptation to push the red button, so to speak. I wonder what the rankings for the feeder and sinker regions be this time, and the number of neutral feeders and sinkers?

Source: https://nsindex.net/wiki/2nd_Nuclear_Ap ... scoreboard

EDIT: We discovered information about combined alliances.

We’re halfway there and here is the snapshot at about that moment: https://web.archive.org/web/20180927090 ... e=factions

1. UPPERCUT: 41,036 points
2. Pirates of the Nile: 24,775 points (clean sheet)
3. The Horsemen of the Apocalypse: 24,020 points
4. Canopy: 22,431 (clean sheet)
5. Bend The Knee: 12,949 points (clean sheet)
6. DauntlessFlag: 12,193 points
7. USSF Nuclear Command: 9,668 points
8. Catholic Alliance: 8,212 points
9. STIFF-ARM: 8,058 points
10. Potato Alliance: 8,044 points

And at the bottom (https://web.archive.org/web/20180927090 ... s?start=12)

617. Mad Dog Matthis's UCS Army: -4,457 points
618. Destructopeia: -4,751 points
619. The A.T.O.M: -4,773 points
620. Galactic Peace Alliance: -5,050 points
621. Force: -5,778 points
622. Axis of Nuclear Annihilation: -5,942 points
623. karmic factor: -6,019 points
624. The Imperial Alliance: -9,983 points
625. Augustin Alliance: -13,454 points
626. Army of Freedom: -14,639 points

Points are approximate due to the rapid pace of the event.

So far (in notable events), we have the offensive against the Augustin Alliance: what other events have we missed?

They started by launching a lot of missiles, doing about 10k damage in about an hour. We pushed back, and as a result of that, they went from first and favourites, to dead last place.

That's exactly what happens when you expect then push way too hard and don't recruit/gain enough and don't throw enough nukes.

Couple of notes - the NAP wasn't this year, they broke it last year. Second, the 2nd date was because they forgot to do it in August as the techies were hit with RL - as they needed to actually hit a button to have the event.

(Already wrote this but it apparently didn't post)
This is the story of a lesser but morally important victory during this war.
The nation known as Blazelander revealed them self to be traitor and a bigot today, I noticed they were firing nukes at one of our players despite having a NAP with us, I, who had been trying to sort out those errors, contacted him in good faith.
His answer was that he wanted to destroy homosexual transgender people, I quickly replied that meant he would have to fight me as well and received a tirade of insults.
I took these insults to my faction UPPERCUT and asked for help and despite being in the middle of the war with the AA many of the members offered support and agreed to wipe the bigot off the map.

Also worth noting is that Blazelander's faction were all shocked bu his words and allowed us to attack unobstructed.

While being an event involving the destruction of only one nation, I still think this is a significant victory for UPPERCUT and our allies.

Citadel of Ricks was also one of the member regions for The Horsemen of the Apocalypse, a new addition this year.

Man I can't believe we lost out on the no rads win getting hit with just 39 >_<

I still can't believe Hell a founderless closed off region of less than 60 nations and a handful of regions i'm in somehow pulled second place. We had lots of random folks join us, at least a third to half of the 700+ nations weren't from any of the listed regions, might be worth mentioning in the index.

Might also be worth mentioning that we climbed 10 places, increased our score almost ninefold, conducted over 4x more strikes, and reduced our rads taken by over 99%, all with the same core group of small UCRs. The total population of The Horsemen's member regions is like 350, even Canopy has more than double that.

The Horsemen of the Apocalypse’s entry in the tables should explain the amazing improvement.

I apologise for delays in the statistics, but some numbers were not consistent.
