How did you do? I did well enough. I negotiated a bit for my country, did a little scouting, had around 300 strikes in total and a big supply of shields.

How did you do compared to last time? There wasn't a ''last time'' for me.

How did your faction do? We did well. We ended up on 11th place. Notable achievements were: only 5 radiation and surviving against sudden attacks of bigger factions. Things that could have been better were: communication, diplomacy, a more aggressive strategy and a kicking feature.

When and how were you destroyed(if at all)? Did not happen.

Did you like or dislike it, and why? It was alright. Quite intense at times, even. Unfortunately, the action picked up when I was not there.

How do you think you can improve next time? By having more puppets.

Do you have any advice for new nations next time? Don't randomly attack other factions, communicate effectively and a lot with your teammates, prepare a lot of puppets before the event begins (at least 5 days prior to it).

Army of Freedom recap

Postby New Waldensia » Thu Aug 31, 2017 7:52 am

How did you do? Two of my nations were destroyed in the middle of the night. I pulled my other two out before bed as a precaution, re-engaged in the morning for a brief time before losing both of them as well. I continued to check in during the rest of the War to help direct fire and negotiate ceasefires.

How did you do compared to last time? Last time I only used one nation and it got destroyed after I went to bed, so... a big improvement I guess.

How did your faction do? I helped start Army of Freedom, which was led by our region (Confederacy of Conservative Nations) and included members from 44 other regions. We topped out at 115 nations, which was far beyond what I envisioned we'd get to.

We had a few non-aggression pacts at the beginning, but our pact with Kaiserreich/TIR was by FAR our most impactful. TIR saved our rears multiple times.

We engaged with Warzone Asia Socialist Pact very early, and with TIR's assistance we helped take them out. TIR's shielding and launches enabled us to finally break WASP. It was the first crucial moment of our faction, and TIR got us through.

Our night crew did great work shielding and keeping the faction from succumbing to overnight attacks, while also managing to pound Coalition of Atomic Socialist States into surrender (Jak Attack finished them off after CASS telegrammed their surrender notice). They also finished off The Leftist Assembly Nuclear Zone. We lost some members to Syberian, but the night shift was able to keep us alive.

In the morning (15-16 hours in), we were drawn into a death struggle with Western Isles Defense Forces. It was a bruiser, but we go into positive territory again (I believe TIR also lent shield assistance once more). We negotiated a ceasefire with them and regrouped for another assault.

Over the next few hours we took out Communist Grand Army, United Turks, and Regional Defense Force, all smaller factions.

We then got into a death struggle with XKI Atomic Defense Coalition, finally getting the upper hand and landing blows on them before negotiating another ceasefire.

As time drew to a close, we coordinated a MASSIVE assault with TIR on PUWA. It was beautiful. It was glorious. We rained FREEEEEEDDDOOOMMMMM bouquets on them from the skies like it was Valentines Day. By the time that assault ended with 15 minutes left we had climbed 2000 points to 2,558 and 19th place. We had gone almost four hours without taking significant strikes.

Then came the end. Syberian Badgers of Caek wanted points, and they were determined to get them from us.

Out manned, out gunned, outnumbered, beyond hope and help we fought like furies. With nearly 4,000 incoming missiles we shielded desperately, defending freedom to the last man, last shot, last shield, last drop of blood. Hail, Caesar! We who are about to die salute thee!

In a hail of atomic radiation we started losing men. Faster, faster came the nuclear missiles, overwhelming our defenses. The clock ticked down. Nothing new could be targeted, nothing new could be launched. Doomsday was upon us, and we were out of time, out of shields, out of strength.

The clock struck zero, but the missiles kept landing. All we could do was wait and see if we could maintain a positive score. Down, down our points fell as each successive nuke impacted, until finally, the last one dropped. As the dust settled, we eagerly refreshed and refreshed to see the end result. It was going to be close, very close, and then finally....

-1.

Two shields! Two shields! My kingdom for two shields!

Of our 115 members, 52 were annihilated. Two received 99% radiation, one had 98%, 13 were between 93% and 50%. A surprising number were unscathed.

When and how were you destroyed(if at all)? Syberian Badgers knocked my main and secondary out in the middle of the night. My other two died in battle with Western Isles.

Did you like or dislike it, and why? N-Day is pure awesomeness!

How do you think you can improve next time? Allow rogues to be kicked out, perhaps.

Be able to track how many shields were successfully deployed. We can see who landed the most nukes, but I'd love to see who was most effective at shielding.

Do you have any advice for new nations next time? Use a few puppets. Phase them in so you don't get knocked out for the entire game. Work with your region, communicate and coordinate. Don't forget to LAUNCH your nukes after targeting, and for heaven's sake don't shield nukes launched by your own faction. We had a member shield 78 nukes that we launched at an enemy.

Here's my reflection:
I personally really liked it. I joined Army of Freedom, and my other main nation and all puppets joined my region's faction(European Defense Forces). I have 2 Communist puppets, which I used to infiltrate Communist factions. I was producing shields, and using them to defend my factions. Only one nuke was aimed at me, which was shot down. I survived the night(surprisingly), but both my Communist puppets didn't. My only nuke expert nation was mostly obliterated. I spent all day making shields and defending the factions I'm in. At the end, there was a surge of nukes that headed for AOF. I shot down a lot, and miraculously none were aimed at me. For all future players, I recommend that you have a lot of puppets ready, and have most of them make shields, and also make a lot of nukes.

The loose Coalition of The Viet Cong held out for 4 hours until annihilated by A.R.M.E.D and NATO eventually.

We did destroy a small faction though so that was cool.
