Well sometimes the Emperor visits them the night before the wedding, in their bedrooms, and they wear a very fancy kimono. whiten your faces and style your hair in a geisha hairstyle. Oh, on the wedding night bells are tied on the bedpost.

Miss Marie Jane thought for a while about the Minister's words. The Emperor obviously had a very strong ideal for the old Japanese ways. She felt a little anxious at the possibility of losing her virginity before the special day. She did not have a very religious background, but had held on to this idea. But if the Emperor felt that way she would be okay. She did not care too much about the religion of the wedding. As long as it was legal and she got to be his wife, she would be fine.
